Lies.

Mates.

Murder.

Greywood Conservatory was steeped in all three and I had no idea just how deep the secrets went.

But I wanted nothing to do with any of those things.

My hands were full with Echo’s avoidance, Cassius’ unending opinions, and trying to find ways to spend time with my mate, Bones.

I wanted an ordinary life but fate had other plans.

A vicious attack rips my world asunder– new mates, unseen enemies, and a mystery unraveling around me.

As my life starts to unravel around me, who can I trust? Friends and mates, family, or newcomers I don’t know at all?

In the best way possible…..what the hell is going on?!?!
This book kept me on tenterhooks the whole way through, there’s so many twists and turns that you are never quite sure which way this book is going to go! 🙈
It’s clear there’s a very monstrous and evil side to whatever is going on at Greywood and Isla appears to be wrapped right up in the middle of it 🥴 the attacks are ramping up and there’s far more destruction across campus and very little answers! Isla is also letting her darker tendencies out to play creating some interesting situations 😅 she also appears to be collecting more admirers/connections along the way 😆 some of them are absolute eejits and need to sort themselves out, some are absolutely psychotic, and some are clearly devoted to her 🥰 she has a lot to juggle bless her. The connections are still very much building and the tensions is there but not a whole lot of action.
I feel the plot line did move along but I still don’t really know what’s going on or what’s going to happen - makes for an interesting read! Very much looking forward to the next book 😃

Greywood Conservatory gave me trust issues, a new book boyfriend, and the urge to hiss at anyone who tries to interrupt my reading 5/5, would die for Isla and Bones.

Greywood Conservatory is pure chaos murder, venom, secrets stacked higher than my TBR, and a heroine who could roast anyone stupid enough to cross her. Isla? Absolute queen. Bones? Someone needs to drag him out of my Kindle before I start writing fan mail to a fictional man. The other mates? …Let’s just say some are thriving, and some need therapy. Immediately.

Suki Rose has a gift for blending dark suspense with delicious tension, and this book is proof. It’s fast-paced, emotional, seductive, and left me begging for book three.

If you like your romance tangled in danger, secrets, and more twists than you can count, this series is a must-read.

Every twist hit me like a brick to the face and I loved every second of it. By the end I was clinging to my Kindle whispering “don’t end, don’t end,” but alas, here we are. Waiting for book three like a Victorian widow staring dramatically out a rainy window.

Verdict: This series is venomous, vicious, and completely addictive. Inject it directly into my veins.

I was expecting an incline after book one. The pacing itself was just EVERYWHERE. It felt like things were picking up and the other relationships would develop but they just didn’t. To an extent everything felt like potential progress but limbo at the same time.

SO MANY POV’s at once. From characters we didn’t even know and no other clarification. This book seemed to live in mystery with no other answers.

Wish there was more … like maybe the book needed to be longer beyond having a third installment.

Other than all that Isla gets mated to someone else. You learn more about Cas and in the background Z and Az are having a fight. Also, the school comes under attack with no answers.

so… this left me with mixed feelings.

i love isla and i love how she is a very down to earth and yet bossy and asshole fmc… she didnt get too much on my nerves and i can appreciate that

i devoured this book bc i love the setting, i love the fmc and i love how she has so many things happening in the background and cassius and all.

i love hellsing, bones, ambrose and wells.

but honestly i think at like 80% in this book where things start to get confusing.

the bigger plot was somehow thrown in our faces in such a fast pace that i felt so lost when everything went down… info dump was way too harsh 😩 things were being developed with care and with a slowburn writing (which i like btw) and all of a sudden it kinda changes and everything happens at once?

the relationships aspect was also left in a weird state, like i was confused… so many new characters being introduced and so many things happening at the same time that i was feeling overwhelmed by it all.

bring back the level of detail and pace from book 1 and slowly introduce or make us meet the characters and see the bigger plot in a good pace, please 😭

i’ll be waiting to see how the next one goes and hopefully the author can help us see through the thousand little connections she established.

Legit, one of my favorite Romantacy books. Witches, incubi, wearwolfs, vampires, centaurs, and more… the world building, the plot twists, the way the first and second book take place over days and weeks. Oh, and our FMC has a ghost living in her head..

Oh, and fated mates… multiple 🔥

Still super confused by the relationship dynamics in this book, but at this point I'm assuming the harem is gonna be huge? Honestly, I felt the ending came too quickly with both too much and too little happening in the books. With so many characters and relationships, it's hard to have any real development. I'm hoping that the next book is longer.

Omg was this book hard to put down from start to finish. I have been anticipating this 2nd book after reading book 1 Baneful Magick. I am so hooked on this new series by this author. I just love these character's they are all special in their own magickal way, and it's so hard to pick a favorite.

This picks up where the first book left off at and man did it hit the ground running phew I don't think it slowed down any there was so, so many different thing's going on with Isla, she couldn't catch a break, but we do get some answers to some questions, but with every one we get there's 2 or 3 more questions that need answering. This series is a must read if you love pnr, fated mates, possessive, fierce fmc, protective mc's. I need that next book to find out what's going to happen next and what happened to Wells?

This book went from zero to a hundred real quick, from finding new mates, to getting some answers, to a full on battle and oh yeah a whole lot more questions.

There is still so much more to discover with this series, more mates? more sercets unfolded? revenge? more magic? Mates that are more connected than what i thought at first? Like i said, so many more questions came to be from reading this book. I can't wait for the next one!

This book was fun and unique, but the last 20% felt like a psychological thriller (not my fav), where everything is surreal and nothing concrete, as if you're in a drugged reality. As I'm writing this, I want to lower my rating, but I'll keep it where it is just because I'm intrigued. the next book though needs to have answers. We can't just keep being told that the characters will talk later.

2/5 Stars – A Disappointing Follow-Up That Lacks the Spark of Book 1

I was genuinely excited for the next installment in this series - large harems are always a win in my book, and Book 1 had so much potential. It introduced a badass FMC, dark themes, an intriguing plot, and a cast of unique MMCs that really pulled me in. Unfortunately, Venomous Lies didn’t deliver. It feels like another rushed “pump and dump” harem series where the story and characters were sacrificed just to push out a sequel. What a letdown.

The pacing in Book 2 was all over the place. The book hinted at more spice early on, only for it to completely fizzle out. Disappointing.

The plot felt crammed and chaotic, and instead of progressing relationships or the main storyline, everything just spiraled into a confusing mess. There was little to no depth to her connections with her mates. We still don’t have clarity on who her actual mates are, what those bonds mean, or how they’re supposed to develop. And the chapter flow? Choppy at best. Several MMC POVs were either disjointed or missing critical development. With such a large cast, a glossary would’ve really helped.

The substance just wasn’t there. Too many characters were introduced without proper development, and the book really needed more pages (and care) to handle them all. By the end, I found myself not rooting for any of her "mates" (if you can call any of them that) - which is kind of a major fail in a "harem series". Scenes that should’ve had emotional weight or spice fizzled out or ended without any real explanation. So many missed opportunities.

The whole concept of the mate bond is also a mess. One moment it’s described as powerful and life-altering, the next it’s treated like an afterthought. And the fact that she still hasn’t slept with anyone since Book 1? Seriously? what gives?

Let’s talk about these “mates” for a second:
Echo – He’s the only one who even remotely seemed to have a spark with Isla, but their connection stagnated.

Cas – His chapters confused me the most. No answers, just circles and drama. Whatever bond he thinks he has with Isla now feels like he’s using her to get to someone else...AKA Julian.

Wells – He's not technically a mate (yet), and honestly, nothing progressed there either. By Book 2, you'd expect at least something.

Bones – He’s bonded to Isla but spends more time bottoming for Julian. Da f*ck. Doesn't even check in on Isla or realise when she is hurt. Didn’t react to her bonding with someone else. What's the point of a bond if it doesn’t matter? Also, the way the Julian/Bones/Cas with Isla thrown in as an afterthought situation - it's as messy as it reads and I'm just not here for it.

Ambrose – This was supposed to be one of her most intense connections. And yet, no development. If anything, their relationship regressed.

Julian – I wanted to like him, I really did. But he was barely there. Two conversations, a random kiss, and suddenly they’re mated? No buildup, no chemistry. Nothing. At the moment he is just here for Cas and Bones and that's about it.

Kazimir – Thrown in out of nowhere and forcefully bonded by lethal injection at first sight...right, Okay...cool. Who even is this character?

Wolfspider-thing – What even was that? No substance, no clarity. Mate? Familiar? Who knows. smh

Falke – I'm all for Centaur Daddy, (heck he is the character I want in her collection of tasty mates the MOST!) and he’s in every key scene with the MMCs... but there’s absolutely no development between him and Isla. Why even include him so heavily if he’s just a side character?

Demir – The adopted brother dynamic was building up to something interesting, but he didn’t even get a POV chapter. He had more emotional presence than half the other characters. Such a wasted opportunity.

The dynamics among the mates (and potential mates) are not only confusing, but feel shallow. Most of the time, it seems like the guys are more into each other than Isla, and the story started to read more like a poly/Boy Love setup than a Reverse Harem. And I love a good BL story - but this series is all over the place right now. Right now, it feels like Isla is just there to be a plot device for everyone else’s bonding.

I’m genuinely sad about this. There was so much potential here—cool characters, dark vibes, unique relationships - but this book gave me nothing to root for. The plot was thin, the relationships didn’t move forward, and the overall execution felt rushed and half-hearted.

I won’t be in a hurry to continue this series. Hopefully the next book brings more plot, more pages, and actual emotional payoff for readers who are still invested. As for me? I'm out.

I honestly don’t even know where to start! I started this book with questions from book one, I got some answers, then I ended up with even MORE questions! I think I may go into psychosis before the next book comes out because I need answers IMMEDIATELY!

When I started this book, I knew I would love it since I loved Baneful Magick. It is easy to say I am OBSESSED, with this world and this series. This is only book two, but I know every one after this will be perfection as well! From the beginning I was enthralled; each page had something that captured my attention and kept me hooked. The characters? Witty, powerful, scary, and just truly amazing. The storyline? Intriguing and stimulating! The tension? Superb! The overall vibes and flow of the book? To die for!

I am still in love with my girl Isla, and even more so now. Seeing her grow in her powers, her confidence, and her strength is beyond words. Not to mention, even in life and death situations, her snark remains top tier! I adore her! I also have to mention, I feel for the poor girl, because the amount of testosterone she is surrounded with in a daily would make anyone suffocate. Thank God she goes toe to toe with them and doesn’t back down. That being said, I enjoy reading how protective and Passover they are over her; they all are great and being unique perspectives to the story.

Which leads me to this: the plot is so engaging! Suki lays each chapter out by days, so from the beginning of the book to the end, you see that not a lot of time has passed, but a lot of huge events take place within that timeframe. I also very much enjoy how more tidbits of information are revealed, leaving us readers with more questions. To me, that helps keep you engaged in the story and want to fly through it to learn more.

Overall, it’s safe to say this is one of my obsessions. I will forever be recommending this book, and this series to anyone I cross paths with. 10000/10!

This book is what happens when you only have 262 pages of story and try to choke them with nine goddamn POVs and an additional six other "important" characters.

Honestly, I was already miffed at the first book for providing barely any story or plot movement before it was just... over. I had at least some small modicum of hope that we would get more out of this one, but somewhere, somehow I must have displeased the gods and this is my punishment.

Have you ever followed someone in your car because they know the destination but you don't? Imagine that person you're following chooses the route with the most side streets, stop signs, roundabouts, speed bumps, and toll booths... not because it's more scenic or enjoyable, but just for the fucking chaos of the drive. Because that's what this book felt like - needless chaos and a surfeit of POVs.

Usually, my ND means I have absolutely no problem with a bit of entropy - I can get into books bursting with a cacophonous melee of details, plot points, and characters, but they have to flow. There has to be rhythm and structure.

But this was... not that. It felt poorly paced, going from a trickle to a firehose, particularly in the latter half. It was almost like the author wanted certain things to happen, but then realized they were running out of pages so they just jammed them all in within the last few chapters.

Three new main characters were introduced but we know next to nothing about them because how tf could we? There wasn't enough story to fully flesh anything out! I can maybe see it in an actual, full-length novel but this was barely more than an appetizer. Again.

Meanwhile, Isla's character is really starting to lean into that "super special uber powerful snowflake with an irresistible and inexplicable draw to any male that breathes" trope... and I just... ugh. I'm exhausted searching for meat that just isn't there.

I can't see myself picking up book 3. These just aren't doing it for me. Might as well be the morse code setting on a vibe.

I've been waiting on pins and needles for the second book in the Greywood Conservatory series. Suki Rose couldn't have made me any happier. Venomous Lies was heart-stoppingly good. This book left me dazed and confused, but only in the best ways.

Is Isla's dark side getting darker, or is that just me? Either way, I'm not mad about it. One of the many things I like about Isla is her take-no-crap-from-anyone attitude. She may have lost that for a little while, but I'm glad she got it back. The harem in this book is frustrating; all the characters are being difficult in their own way. Especially Echo, who just pissed me off in the beginning. Bones is the only one whose attitude didn't grate on my nerves. So far, he's my favorite; the others need work.

A lot is going on, but I have no idea what is actually happening. I flew through this book. The mystery attacks on the students, Julian, Ambrose, and Falke, are still acting shady, POVs from unknown characters, new characters, dreams, odd magic, romance, drama, and more kept me on my toes. I have more questions now than when I started. I'm also questioning quite a few characters, more than I think I should. Like, wtf is happening? The twists were the best! There were some excellent plot developments, some of which I just can't get over.

Venomous Lies was glorious! I devoured this book and was super pissed when it was over. I wasn't ready to leave. Suki Rose, what kind of deals do I need to make to get my hands on the third book?

Check TWs before reading. Must read book one, Baneful Magick, first, as this is a direct continuation.

Can anyone say, "holy plot twists"? Seriously. I'm normally so good at picking them out, but Rose had me by surprise with some of the no-holds-barred twists that occurred in this book - and I was LIVING for them.

Rose gave us so many answers to questions that arose in BM, but also threw so many more our way. She delivered more character growth with not only Isla, but the men in her life, as well as opening up so many questions about who Isla's potential mates could include - my brain is running wild with theories about the final grouping in her polycule, that's for sure.

Not only was the character growth fantastic, but the plot continues to thicken with each chapter, pulling you in to wanting to know just what is happening at Greywood. We uncover some more of the truth, but those added questions keep you hooked, wanting to find out more and keep turning the pages.

Once more Rose combines humour and romance, tension and spice, angst (so much so in some places) and suspense (ALL the suspense) and characters that just make you want more.

It's so hard to write a spoiler free review for this one, but I have to say - I'll be waiting on the edge of my seat for book three to be released, so we can get some more answers to these twists, as well as to see if my theories about mates and Isla's polycule pan out.

Thank you to the author and @peachykeenas for the eARC opportunity. These are my honest thoughts that I have provided voluntarily.

Dark, Addictive, and Utterly Unputdownable

Venomous Lies by Suki Rose completely took over my life, and I am so glad I found this series. From the very first page, I was pulled in, and the intensity only increased with each chapter. I read both books back-to-back, stayed up all night, and still wanted more. At this point, I am genuinely counting the days until book three releases. The obsession is real.

The writing is excellent. I usually find myself mentally correcting small mistakes as I read, but that was never an issue here. Everything flowed smoothly, and the storytelling was sharp, immersive, and emotionally gripping. The entire setup is fantastic with dark academia vibes, fated mates, and a why-choose romance that actually delivers.

The female main character is everything I could ask for. She is strong, clever, and perfectly snarky. I loved every scene she was in, and her dynamic with each of her mates and potentials was full of chemistry and emotional depth. What stood out most was how their past trauma was handled. I felt like character was written well, and their behaviors aligned with their backstories in a way that felt psychologically true. It made their struggles and growth feel all the more powerful.

If you enjoy stories with emotional stakes, addictive romance, complex characters, and a dark, magical atmosphere, you need to pick this one up. I just wish I had discovered it sooner. Seriously, go read this series. It is so good.

Isla and her complicated love life are back. After finding one of her fated mates in the Bone Fae, Bricriu, she spends the first part of the book trying to get Echo to let her explain some things about witches and their relationships but he's too busy crashing out, assuming things. Typical. Wells, being the sweet cinnamon roll he is comes to her rescue and cheers her up by appealing to her first love, tea. Cas also makes himself known in a much bigger way in this book, both in a helpful manner and in that we learn more of his past.

The big bad makes a move and, if I'm honest, I'm not surprised by who is involved so much as how. They have never come across as competent. Nothing that has been said by other characters about them spoke of hidden depths that remained unplombed. I do hope we see more in the series going forward that makes it make sense to me.

Overall I enjoyed this book. I do hope there's more plot exploration and fewer new characters brought in only to fall for the FMC in book 3. If you're a plot reader, you may leavethat's here in spades. I fall somewhere in the middle and had fun. I'm cautiously hopeful for the final book next year. I recommend with small reservations.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

This is the story of Isla and Bones. Most people in their lifetime will never experience a place like Greywood Conservatory. That place is filled with chaos, murder and a lot of secrets. I have to say that I loved Isla. That girl will put you in your place and not even break a sweat doing it. She is a snarky little thing. But I loved her. I could swear though that the darkness in her is getting darker and darker though. Now for the guys in this book. Everyone is going to want a Bones in their life. He is great book boyfriend material. Echo is being beyond difficult and frustrating the fire out of me. The rest of them have their problems too and don't seem to be doing much better. At least Bones has it together more than the other. I don't want to go into the details of the story. I think that the less you know about this book going into it, the better off you are. This book is filled with twists and turns you will never see coming. Romance, new characters, drama, dreams, magic that is really odd. There's just a lot going on and some of it you won't see coming from miles away.

I've been dying for more of this series and am so glad to have another book to zoom through. It's so easy to fall right back into Suki's stories and Isla's is such an entertaining one, that's for sure. She had a lot of surprises in store for her in this book, plenty of threats coming her way and danger from unknown sources, but she has quite a few people in her corner as well. It seems she just keeps adding to her collection as the series continues. For some of them it is easier to tell that they will be a more stable and supporting type of person in her life, such as Bones and Wells, whereas with others it might be a bit more complicated and could be a more temporary situation or maybe more for their own gain at this point in the story. But who knows?! Isla has a way of growing on people just like her plants. Either way, Greywood Conservatory is a shady place involved in things that they probably shouldn't be doing and I have a feeling it's going to take as many people as they can get to finally figure out exactly what is going on, find out who is behind everything, and ban together to cut the snake off at the head. Here's to finding out more answers in the next book!

Venomous Lies is the second installment in the Greywood Conservatory series, and once again it left me with more questions than answers — but in the best possible way. With each book, the bigger picture starts to take shape, and I’m hooked.

The plot was intriguing, weaving the mystery of the campus murders together with the chaos of Isla’s personal life and her complex web of relationships. I really enjoyed the use of multiple POVs, including perspectives from characters who still feel like they’re waiting in the wings — it adds depth and gives the sense that there’s so much more to uncover.

What stood out the most for me were the messy, complicated dynamics between Isla and her mates (or potential mates). They’re tense, emotional, sometimes frustrating, but always compelling. That push and pull kept me turning the pages.

This was a really engaging read, and I can’t wait to see where the series goes next — because if one thing’s certain, Greywood Conservatory is nowhere near done with its secrets.

good

WARNING! Cliffhanger! This book leaves us on a cliffhanger that rates about 4/5 on my trauma scale.

Picking up from where book one left off, we find Isla trying to deal with a distant Echo, her new relationship status with Bricriu, and an increasingly dangerous academy.

This book introduces us to a number of new characters, not all of whom are identified, and we get to know Cassius, as well as some of the other characters far better in this book. I will admit to some concern for a couple of the characters that don’t seem to be in a good place by the end of the story though.

Anyway, there is a lot going on in this book, most of it pertaining to the characters in the story, and only a little related to the overarching plot - although we do see some very important revelations involving that.

It’s a lot faster paced than the first book, and there are some rather disturbing events peppered throughout. An engrossing read, this is for those who enjoy RH with large harems, darker fantasy, and a little bit of mystery.

This series is living rent free in my mind since I’ve read the first book. Now I devoured book two as well, and I guess the daydreaming can start all over until book three comes out. Seriously, I love so much about this series! I love our badass fmc Isla, I love all the twisted mates she draws to her (although some of them still have a bit of soulsearching to do before I deem them worthy). I love the worldbuilding, the danger, the suspense, the twisted twists and so much more. And for who thought we already met all of Isla’s potential mates in book one: think again!

So yeah, reading this book was an absolute joy, until I saw the percentages add up and I started to realize the moment to say goodbye to the story was drawing near. This series has the potential to end up in my “to be read a second time” pile with how things are going, but now I can’t wait to see what book three will bring! And how many more men will end up as Isla’s mates…

I was ecstatic that this was released earlier than I expected and hope that will also be true for the next book.

This is one of my favorite series. There is so much happening and so many unusual characters that there’s not a moment of boredom reading it. Isla collects mates at a seemingly alarming rate and it appears there may be many more in her future. There are mysterious beings and I’m not sure if some of the carnage is caused by just one of them or if more are involved. A wolf spider (spider wolf?) has some kind of connection and rescues her at one point. There’s what seems to be a fae of some sort that had been in the clutches of the enemy who links himself to her. Not only that but there’s an unknown being whose thoughts are shared. Its ties to Isla are not conclusive but I won’t be surprised if it turns out that there is one.

I have an uncomfortable feeling about her kelpie “brother” and his feelings for her. His connection to the school has not been revealed.

Thank you Suki Rose & team for giving me this opportunity to be an ARC reader for Venomous Lies.

I am still very much enjoying this series! Twists & turns came about that were truly surprising which I love because it keeps me on my toes.

I love everything about Isla and her sass and bravery are honestly everything. She's one of my favorite FMCs ever.

I am happy with how the relationship between Bones and Isla is progressing and growing. The way that some of her other connections are changing was shocking to me. They are definitely twisting in ways that I wasn't expecting! Not in a bad way, just in ways I did not anticipate.

Being immersed in this world is so fun and it has provided a place of comfort in my life that I appreciate so much ❤️
I highly recommend continuing this journey that Suki is taking us on!
