I struggle with how to review this, I feel like I was only invested in the beginning & in the end. As a thriller for me it wasn't thrilling enough, as a romance it's non existent, I wouldn't call this a romantic book whatsoever. I feel like we never really got closure with this couple so with the ending I thought oh yay it will be continued with them, but then I looked at Amazon and saw that it will be with another couple so just left me disappointed. one thing also bugged me that the fmc tells her fiance that his friend keeps hugging her when she doesn't want to, & his response was basically yep he does that... it's really weird that he doesn't care that his friend makes his girl uncomfortable & touches her without her consent & he doesn't care?? a small thing that annoyed me too was that we got multiple chapters of the male lead struggling with her disappearance yet we don't get his pov when they meet again?? all of a sudden he knows everything & is happy to see her, I feel like it would have made a better impact had it been from his pov. Anyway sadly I didn't fully enjoy this book, the middle part was kind of boring to me so I actually had to skim it a bit. it's a shame the beginning was really interesting, we can't like everything unfortunately

I did not see the twist coming!! Wow! Such a good book! I ate this book up! The suspense had me gasping and on the edge of my seat! I was talking to the book a lot and even yelled at Mel several times! Great writing and storyline! The characters were great! Mel is a smart and resourceful woman! Loved her even when I was yelling at her. The storyline was a ride and I was here for every word of it! Can’t wait for book 2!
Please be aware of trigger warnings ⚠️ This is the first book I have read from this author and definitely won't be the last. Good, well written storyline, which captivated me from the start. A human trafficker turns Melanie's life upside down. Luckily, he wants the thrill of the chase. How long will she manage to run before he catches up, or will she outsmart him? You will have to read to find out but you won't be disappointed.
I was a little unsure about the book going in, but the further I got, the more invested I became. When faced with an impossible decision, do you hurt the people you love or stay and watch their lives implode? Melanie did what she felt she had so she could protect her loved ones. I will admit at first I was a little annoyed with her over seemingly stupid things she did. For example, when she used her credit cards not realizing they could be traced. Then I realized not everyone reads or watches the same shows I do. Hah. If I ever had to run, i'd be a ghost! (probably not, but it sounds good)
I loved that we got to see both her POV and the POV from both Cameron and the bad guy. Her leaving was hard on her, but being the one left behind without any idea wasn't easy either. It was nice to see that pain from his side. I felt bad for the whole family. Momma Whitaker is the real MVP tho. That lady seems so unassuming but she is fierce when her family is on the line. I loved her so much.
I was a tiny bit disappointed about the ending but the multiple epilogues helped ease some of that disappointment. I was just expecting a bigger reunion scene. I am definitely intrigued enough to reading more and I hope we get to see more of Law and crew going forward. Overall a solid read and I am glad I took the chance on a new to me author!
Man, this book drew me in and didn't let go! From the very beginning, I didn't like Michael. He just rubbed me the wrong way (like he did mostly everyone in the story). Never have I disliked a villain as much as I dislike Michael. My heart broke for Melanie time and time again, but she was so so smart. It was incredible to watch her struggle, but then overcome and figure things out. I did not see the twists coming. Her true hope came from the most unlikely of sources. I cannot wait to read the rest of this series.
Resolutions The Whispering Pines Series by Hope Kingston is the first book in this series. This is a new to me author and I totally enjoyed this book. Melanie and Cameron were happy and on their way to getting married. The day of the wedding Melanie gets a message and she has to choose, stay and get married and watch her family and love ones die or vanish and save everyone. There is a monster in Whispering Pines and no one knows it. The twists and turns will keep you reading. There are enough surprises to keep you wondering what will happen next. I can’t wait to read what will happen next.
This is the story of Melanie and her fiancé Cameron. Unknown to either of them, they were betrayed by a man Cameron trusted, threatening to kill all of Cameron's family if Melanie went through with her wedding to Cameron...so to save his family, she ran...but what was the end game and why were women disappearing in peaceful small town of Whispering Pines?? Thriller will keep the reader up trying to figure out why and will the devious culprit be caught...I voluntarily read this book through an Advanced Reader Copy.
Yes!! Fantastic story full of twists and turns to keep my interest from beginning to the end. Storyline pulled me in in the first chapter and never let me go. So many secrets and suspenseful scenes. Danger, dominance, protective characters. This book had it all. Totally recommend.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a very good book with a great premise. Grabbed my attention and held it, even though there needed to be better editing which was a distraction for me. So many twists and turns, and she was so strong and smart, needed to be in order to survive. Thrilling and suspenseful story, really felt for her. Looking forward to reading more books, as I think there will be, in this series.
Great read. I enjoyed this book. It is the first book of the new Whispering Pines series. I am looking forward to reading more of this series. Terrific characters and storyline. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
I had a hard time getting into the book. But I held on and it picked up as well as became suspenseful and edge of seat reading. It does end on a cliffhanger!
