蠍と乙女 #1

Sasori to Otome: Scorpio & Virgo Volume 1

Rate this book
Tohru Saotome is a famous novelist suffering from a massive case of writer's block. While in the midst of this slump, his long-time editor is transferred, and his new one ends up being his former classmate Kazuha Sasasori. Kazuha is the only person Tohru has ever written a novel for, so things are awkward between them, to say the least.

Why did Tohru write a story for his classmate in the first place? If you ask Kazuha, it's because Tohru was in love with him in high school...

This was okay. It definitely didn’t wow me.

The premise is somewhat interesting, but it’s basically just one of many stories where the MC encounters their high school crush as an adult. The writing aspect isn’t that interesting because so much of this is just about the MC struggling to write. We’re told he’s pretty popular but we don’t get a glimpse of that world. Most of this seems to take place in like 2 rooms.

So, what would’ve made this entertaining to me wasn’t here. That’s fine, the author wanted to emphasize other aspects.

Tohru Saotome is a novelist suffering from writer's block. While in this slump, he gets transferred to a new editor, who is his former classmate, Kazuha Sasasori. To add to the awkwardness, Saotome wrote Sasasori a book years before, which read like a love letter. Now, Sasasori says he'll do anything to get the romance flowing, and Saotome, back to writing, believes them to be related. At first, Sasasori feels pushy and one-dimensional, but with flashbacks and further conversations, his character begins to flesh out and become an equal in quality to that of Saotome. I enjoyed the visual design of the characters and the use of the scar as an analogy for their emotions.

been ages since i read a manga! saw someone on twitter compliment the panelling in this and it got me intrigued. such a good story and it has such beautiful art. i loved the background of how it came to be as well. i can see myself re-reading this often.

i was in a massive reading slump and even fics couldn't help me get out of it so i went to manga and im glad i did. this helped me get out of my dpdr a bit as well so im very grateful for finding it

(review for both volumes)
i really like the stories Sumiya writes and how she explores her characters. even if, admittedly, these stories always leave me wanting for just a little more...

i loved how both characters felt saved by one another and the confession honestly made my heart race

i really liked this and writing wise it was quite romantic and made me feel all sorts of things. but i'm greedy so i still wish we had some more physically romantic scenes

also, i love how sensei drew the refraction on the glasses. really nice detail

Pretty meh but I suppose cute enough Yaoi between a author and his flirty editor from childhood…
