Sometimes, the love that saves you is the most unexpected.

HE IS RUNNING FROM HIS PAST

Saint Everhart has spent his life collecting debts for a ruthless usurer. But beneath the lies and violence, all he craves is freedom. After a bloody escape grants him the chance, he seeks shelter in Meadowbrook—where keeping a low profile leads him straight to Juniper Fairchild, a beautiful siren who awakens the dangerous ache of wanting something he thought he’d never have. But freedom always comes at a price, and Saint’s plan to secure it might mean Juniper never looks at him the same way again.

SHE IS CHAINED TO HER FUTURE

Juniper Fairchild dreamed of running her father’s chandlery—not inheriting his debt. Trapped by his rigid ways and drowning in bills, she has two sell the chandlery and lose everything, or work harder. When Saint Everhart waltzes into town with trouble written all over his cocky face, Juniper’s instincts warn her to be cautious. But the pull between them soon becomes impossible to resist—especially when he makes her an offer she can’t refuse.

When debt comes knocking, Juniper must fight for her dream or let it go and lose everything her father built. While Saint must choose between his freedom and the one love he never thought he’d find.

Based in Queensland, Australia, I write romantasy novels about courage, kindness, and the irresistible pull of love that feels both epic and real.

My stories are laced with longing, danger, and the kind of passion that burns slow before it consumes. I twist heartache, hope, and temptation into worlds that pulse with magical life, where every glance or brush of skin can change everything.

I’m endlessly inspired by flowers, everything pink, and the quiet belief that one day, my fairy wings will finally appear.

✨Wicks and Wings✨

What better way to begin a book than with a jail break!? This third release from Sarah takes us right into the chaos and then straight into the cozy.

In Wicks and Wings, we find ourselves in a land where all kinds of magical creatures inhabit. Our MMC, Saint, is a shifter fae on the run from his captor and seeking a life where he can settle down and finally do something of his own choosing. When he finds himself on Meadowbrook looking for lodging, he also finds him face to face with a future he doesn’t believe he can have: our FMC, Juniper. Juniper is drowning in her father’s debt and the weight of her responsibilities. When a tattooed male comes waltzing in her chandlery front door, she finds that continuing to put love up on the shelf is now at severe risk along with the heartbreak of Saint’s many secrets.

This story was so beautifully done. It kept me entertained, swooning, and intrigued. The slow burn was so real but once it caught fire, y’all IT BURNED. Mama Fairchild is SUCH A DEAR and I loved how our MCs navigated their issues and concerns together. The magic is light but the storytelling is rich. I have enjoyed everything by Sarah and this one is definitely included. Actually, I’d say it’s my favorite. Her writing continues to improve with each story.

Tropes you may find in WAW are one horse, “I can fix that”, tattooed shifter MMC, siren FMC, grief rep, touch her & die, banter and so much tension, found family, a barn & a storm, betrayal & forgiveness, medium spice, dual POV, and it’s a standalone!

I am so grateful to be on Sarah’s street team and to have been an arc reader for all three of her books. It’s such an honor!

WOW! I absolutely LOVED this enchanting story. I was blown away by Sarah’s writing - she wrote the most beautiful descriptions that paint incredible pictures in the readers mind. There were some descriptions I just had to stop and reread because of the words she used to depict them… Saint, the MMC, is an artist at heart and I loved that it was like getting a piece of art painted in my mind and I could vividly imagine what was being described on the page. I highlighted so many gems of quotes. I love that we get to see Juniper and Saint working together and developing a relationship prior to their adventure starting together… the adventure which I feel like doesn’t stop picking up the pace until the very end of the book. So much happens in this books and I’m happy to say the story is tied up so nicely at the end. There are a handful of spicy scenes but the spice never overtakes the plot of the story and they were all perfection.

What you can expect…

"I want to be different. I just never learned how."

How is it possible to be utterly unravelled by two sentences? To feel, truly feel the pain and sorrow coming from those words? To feel the need to hug and provide comfort to a book character? To do everything in your power to try to erase all the wrongdoings and hurt from his past?

It is possible if those words were coming from Sarah C. Davies' quill. Sarah holds a special power over me—the sort of power that will hold you and never let go, the power to turn me into an emotional, sobbing puddle, the power to make me fall in love with her every story and character, and turn me into her eternal supporter. That is Sarah for you.

And if there ever were a more perfect name choice for a character, I dare you to find me one as good as Sarah's was. Her decision to name her MMC Saint was so clever and so crushingly beautiful on so many levels. He is no saint, let me assure you. But he is also no sinner. He is the consequence of his tragic life circumstances, but he is also more than that—more than his trauma. He is no saint, but he aspires to be and do better. Isn't that enough?

Your heart and soul will slowly melt the more you dive into Sarah's Wicks and Wings, Book 2 in her Fables from Sapphire Vale series. Each instalment brings a tale of love, devotion, and sacrifice. Still, each of them is unique and beautiful in its own way. Each of them will pull you in and never let you go. So, gift yourself the story of Saint and Juniper and embark on a journey of eternal love, healing, and self-acceptance; you will thank me later.

"She's the wick- ever burning, lighting the way and holding steadfast while I am the wing- drifting wherever the wind takes me"

Wicks and Wings is the third book from Sarah C. Davies. It is whimsical and checked all the boxes I didn't know I had while reading it. Thank you so much Sarah for allowing me an early read of Wicks and Wings. I loved being transported back to Sapphire Vale.

Our story follows Saint, a half-fae shifter who escapes captivity with his brothers Roan and Sepher.
Saint hasn't led an easy life. He was adopted from an orphanage by a man called Donovan when he was just 11. Donovan is cruel and not just to those he takes into his care. He is ruthless to those who owe him money and his reach is far beyond his town of Breydon. Agreeing to go their separate ways after their escape, Saint departs from Sepher and Roan and goes from town to town in search of a ring to help him control his shifting. Shifter rings are rare but allow those who wear them to remain in their human form.

While on the run from Donovan's men, Saint stumbles into Meadowbrook and meets Juniper, a candle maker and half-siren. Saint is enraptured by Juni's hard work and kind heart. She is struggling to keep her late father's candle business afloat. In an effort to keep a low profile and make some coin, Saint begins helping out Juni by fixing things around the chandlery in exchange for a little food and money.

Our story gets complicated when Saint learns that the debt Juni owes is to none other than Donovan. To ensure her safety on a trip to get more wicks so that she can continue making candles to pay off her debt, Saint tags along. A lot of things occur and eventually Saint has to tell Juni just who he really is and what is real purpose in Meadowbrook was. A purpose he quickly lost sight of as soon as he met Juni 'Blue' Fairchild.

4.5 Stars 2 Spice- This book contains a few explicit scenes and strong language

Check out Wings and Wicks if you enjoy:

I was given a change to read this book ahead of its release, here are my thoughts.
The beginning started immediately very fast before slowing back down. The pace was alright, I read through it quickly, it just felt a bit repetitive especially at the beginning, if you’re telling the story and you’re showing the story, then you don’t need to tell it again… still, a very easy read that makes you want to know more. The pace really picks up about half way through and I felt myself enjoying it a lot more from there.
The story was sweet, we had some intrigue, some secrets and mistery. The love story felt too insta-lovey for my taste, but it develops very naturally despite that and I ended up really liking our main characters and rooting for them through it all.
Juniper is independent and hard working, we love a girl boss and she didn’t annoy the life out of me which is always a huge plus.
Saint is just awesome. Somewhat morally grey, not exactly because he chooses to be, more because he doesn’t know anything else, but he’s a golden retriever at heart. Sweet, cuddly, always with a smile, even if slightly dodgy and distant at first.
In terms of spice I’d say it’s about a 🌶️.5
We have about 3 explicit scenes, the vibe was good, nothing too out character, didn’t feel forced or out of nowhere which I appreciated.
Overall I liked it, it read a bit like a YA despite probably being rated Adult/New Adult due to the cursing and spice, but pretty nice if you’re looking for an easy chill read ☺️

Juniper and Saint had no business being this addictive. Candle magic, debt collectors, and a siren with bite? Yes please. It’s cozy, chaotic, and just the right amount of spicy. I devoured it like cursed wings at midnight.

Ahhh, I do love being back in Sapphire Vale!! It's so Damm cozy, enchanting with lots of amazing visuals whilst reading.

Sarah has yet again smashed writing a soft romantasy read.. with a bit of bite 🫦

The adventure this book took my mind on was really cosy and fun. Both the characters Saint & Juniper have such soft hearts after all they have been through 💕

Wicks and Wings wastes no time pulling you in with a gritty, high stakes jailbreak that sets the tone for everything to come. Then like a perfectly executed shift, it melts into the kind of cozy, slow burn romance that wraps around you like a warm blanket. If that blanket came with emotional baggage, broody banter and the occasional dagger to the heart.

Saint Everhart is a brooding shifter with a brutal past and tattoos for days, he’s hardened by a life of crime, desperate for freedom and completely unprepared for what he finds in Meadowbrook. Saint has always done whatever it takes to survive. He’s looking for a fresh start, but he also finds him face to face with a future he doesn’t believe he can have.

Then there’s Juniper Fairchild, a siren whose equal parts fierce and stubborn, doing everything she can to keep her father’s chandlery alive while the weight of debt and expectation threatens to bury her. She’s fierce but vulnerable and the way she holds her ground with Saint had me cheering.

The chemistry between these two simmers with tension, longing and those quiet moments that feel like being truly seen. It’s the kind of romance that feels like sinking into something safe and steady, cozy on the surface, but laced with just enough intensity and heat to keep things deliciously uncozy.

Meadowbrook felt like one of those places you could stumble into by accident and never want to leave. Like a quiet, tucked away town humming with soft magic and untold stories just waiting to unfold. I absolutely adored the chandlery setting, it brought such a unique texture to the book. The warm flicker of candlelight and the scent of wax and herbs, it added this cozy layer that made the entire story feel alive. It made every moment between Juniper and Saint feel more intimate, more real, like magic and love were just another part of the landscape.

While I loved the pacing once things settled, the middle does slow down a little more than I expected, especially after such a intense start. But I was here for the sweet romance vibes and this book delivered. Saint and Juniper are both carrying heavy pasts while reaching for futures they’re not sure they deserve. Their romance is messy, tender and filled with tension in all the right ways. I couldn’t stop rooting for them.

Wicks and Wings is full of heart and heat, with just enough magic to make it feel like a warm hug. If you want magic, secrets, a cozy romance sirens and shifters? Then Wick and Wings needs to be on your TBR!

@sarah.c.davies

Wicks and Wings reads like a slightly dark fairytale with a well-balanced mix of high stakes missions and cozy, sweet romantasy.

It is such a fun, and easy to follow world with a sprinkling of magic, shifters, and mystical creatures. An enchanting story written in such a beautifully descriptive way that made it easy to picture. Emotional representation of loss and grief but also beautiful depictions of letting love and hope back in, of letting your walls down and showing someone all of you, even the dark parts. Some incredibly moving and relatable lines, the characters' pain was palpable in the pages, but so was their joy and love and healing.

A slow burn, unexpected love that will have you grinning and emotional. Saint is our morally Grey MMC with a tragic backstory & a life born out of sacrifice and survival. Juniper is our sweet, devoted caretaker, always putting others first but struggling with grief, the burden of shoulding all the responsibility and on her way to burnout. Both are crippled by their current circumstances but dreaming of something more and of freedom.. but at what cost?

Reading the developing relationship between these two was so sweet, the connection and inescapable pull they had towards each other and how they brought out hidden sides of each other was endearing to see unfold. The banter and teasing had me laughing and giddy.

Juni shows Saint he is more than just his past actions and that he is worthy of love. Saint shows Juni she is allowed to put herself first ,that it isn't selfish to follow her own dreams & that she doesn't have to do it all alone. Together they will fight for their dreams and a chance to rewrite their stories.

The found family vibes are strong towards the end of the book, and it's wholesome to witness the forgiveness and see the characters embraced by each other's people.

A whimsical and sweet romantasy with a HEA , loveable characters, flirty banter, and adventure.

This week I fell back into the Sapphire Vale universe with an ARC of Sarah's newest release, Wicks and Wings.

I love the familiarity of returning to this place, there is a comfort in knowing how the world works and what their people are like, and Juniper and Saint have such a beautiful story that it compliments this perfectly.

Having lost her father, and her mother injured, Juniper bears the weight of her family's chandlery and debt that comes along with it. She has no time for anything except the daily routine of dipping and wicking candles for the town, unable and scared to follow her heart and create what she wants.

Enter Saint, a man on the run, moving and stealing his way through Sapphire Vale having escaped from his captor who's used and abused him since he was a child plucked from an orphanage.

They were never supposed to meet, the shapeshifter and the siren, but fate had other ideas.

What follows is a gorgeously romantic tale of redemption, change, finding one's worth, betrayals and forgiveness as two souls,  broken in different ways, come together to heal. With many longing looks, fighting an attraction neither are prepared for and ultimately having to battle for their lives and freedom - this is a swoon-worthy story that leaves your heart full.

So if you are after a sweeping tale with the following:

- slow burn
- strangers to friends to lovers
- shapeshifter/siren
- betrayals
- touch her and die vibes
- there was only one horse
- fighting for one's freedom
- morally grey MMC

Then add Wicks and Wings to your TBR today.

Wicks & Wings is the kind of romance that grabs you by the heart and doesn’t let go. With magnetic characters, high emotional stakes, and a setting that practically hums with small-town charm and tension, this story is beautifully layered and deeply satisfying.

Saint Everhart is the ultimate tortured hero—hardened by a life of crime, desperate for freedom, and completely unprepared for what he finds in Meadowbrook. And Juniper Fairchild? A fierce, passionate dreamer struggling to save her father’s chandlery while the weight of debt and duty presses in from all sides. Their worlds collide with electric intensity, and the result is pure fire.

The chemistry between Saint and Juniper sizzles with every glance, every reluctant touch, every word left unsaid. But what really makes this book shine is how deeply personal and authentic their journeys are. Juniper’s fight to hold onto her father’s legacy, and Saint’s battle with guilt and self-worth, intertwine in a way that makes you root for them—not just as a couple, but as individuals trying to find hope in impossible circumstances.

Wicks & Wings blends slow-burn romance, emotional vulnerability, and just the right amount of grit into a tale that’s unforgettable. If you love your love stories with high stakes, complex characters, and a touch of danger, don’t miss this one.

5 stars—emotional, fiery, and utterly enchanting.

“I never set out to find love, but somethings are written into the very fabric of our souls. A heart knows when the search is over - when it has found its home. And mine had, because I found him”.

This is the first time I started a review with a quote, but I had to share this one because it’s how I felt when I found my guy. There was a point in my life when I was so content with the thought of riding out in this world solo. Of course I had my friends and family, but I was so focused on just finding my way through life I didn’t really think about love.

The FMC, Juniper, was the same way. She carries the weight of the world on her shoulders - works the day away to pay her father’s debt and cares for her mother. Then comes along Saint, the MMC. At night, he shifts into an owl because he doesn’t have a special ring that prevents the transition. In trying to gain freedom from a terrible man, he stumbles upon Juniper - who’s mother is a shifter and has a ring that is tempting to take.

This is the second book in Fables from Sapphire Vale. You can bet the first one, How the Stars Fall, is now on my TBR. I absolutely fell in love with this world. There’s action, love, some spicy romance - what more could I ask for? Looking forward to more enchanting reads by Sarah C. Davies!

“ She’s the wick—ever burning, lighting the way, and holding steadfast, while I am the wing—drifting wherever the wind takes me. “

Fall back into the Sapphire Vale series with the next standalone, Wicks and Wings by Sarah C. Davies. Two ordinary people - a candlemaker and a criminal - both struggling to escape their current circumstances and wanting more in life!! The adventure wrapped around the FMC & MMC
is a fast-paced blend of cozy and chaos vibes, one running from a life of crime & looking for a future he doesn’t believe he can have and the other, working herself to the bone to pay off debts, and missing out on the beautiful things life has to offer; LIFE. FUN. LOVE.

I love when a story starts RIGHT in the middle of the action and gets you pumping with anticipation and intrigue - how about starting out in the middle of a jailbreak? INTEREST UNLOCKED!!

The romance between the stubborn but determined FMC, Juniper and the broody, tattooed MMC, Saint begins with a mutant intrigue, building into a torturous slow-burn that eventually ignites into a love burning with passion and hope. The slow-burn between these two perfectly matches their personalities. Both the FMC & MMC need to work on honesty, personal grief, betrayal, forgiveness, a little self-discovery and maybe even a little faith before truly opening their hearts up to one another, which in the end, just made their characters feel more passionate and real. Once they both discover what they truly want and can have in life, their chemistry for each other burns with intensity and delivers some much built-up spice!!

“He is the fire, and I am the wick, the only one I burn for, the only man I will ever need.”

This is the third book I've read by this fabulous author! She brings readers to such whimsical lands, with the heart melting stories that I just can't get enough. I mean, you start with a jailbreak! Giddy Up, it's time for a ride 🤣.

Saint is our leading man. He's tatted, he's broody, and he is navigating being able to control his shifter tendencies. All whilst being on the run from Big Bad Donovan. He escapes capture with his two brothers, Roan and Sepher, but eventually they go their separate ways as Saint is in search of a rare ring that will help him to stay in human form.

This leads him to a small village, Meadowbrook, where he chances upon Juniper. Our fierece yet stubborn FMC, who is a candlemaker struggling to keep her father's business afloat, whilst tackling crippling debt. Saint immediately takes a liking to our beautiful half-siren and sets out to help her. Little does he know that their paths will cross in more ways than one when his past catches up to him.

Sarah weaves another enchanting story of two characters and their journey together. Their blossoming relationship captures you from the start, and then has you emotionally invested as they embark on an adventure, which never stops giving.

Thank you, Sarah, for allowing me to dive back into the Sapphire Vale world. Bring on the next!!

Such a fun and cozy read!!

4/5 ⭐

Saint Everhart is on the run. Escaping Donavan was not easy, but between his brothers and him they made it happen. Only, that is the first part of the plan, to avoid discovery, they get separated and Saint is confident that laying low is the safest plan. But then he meets her, Juniper Fairchild.

Juniper and her mother have been barely surviving, after the loss of her father, Juni took over the family business, she had to. There was no other way to pay the deep debt she was in. But when a handsome stranger comes barging into town and offers his services to fix the shop, she'll see there is more to life than what she knows.

This read had me kicking my feet and giggling like a crazy. Juniper and Saint are perfect together and the way the story ended warmed my heart.

They deserve that and so much more. Both of them have been THROUGH it, each one in different ways, but when their two worlds collide they are a perfect match.

Also I loved the interactions between Saint's brothers, Kamari and Dove!! So, definitely go ahead and read this book to have the time of your life with these two and their story!!

Love you all and happy reading 💋💋

**Possible Spoilers**

This was such a sweet, heartwarming story! The two main characters each had hearts bigger than they realized, and it was beautiful to watch how they helped guide each other toward love. It’s definitely a slow-burn romance, filled with plenty of bumps along the way, but the payoff was so worth it with a HEA. While some parts did feel a little repetitive, the storyline and the characters more than made up for it. You can tell the author put a lot of heart into her writing and did a great job creating a story that really pulls you in. I also had a personal connection to the story, as the main female character’s loss of her father really hit home for me. It made her journey feel even more real and emotional. Overall, it was a touching, charming read, and I’m excited to see what this author writes next!

I was not let down by this book at all! It was such an enchanting and beautiful read from the start and I was so invested from page one. It was nice to see fantasy charcteristics being part of their every day lives. I love a book where they're like "OMG they have dragons or they are fairies, etc." but it was ncie to see it in a 'normalised' setting and with the focus being more on the charaters, the plot and how who they are dives the story.

I do wish it was longer so it could be expanded on further and we could experience more of the characters. I think it would have added to the investment of loving them and getting to knwo them more. I would have loved a longer story with more time to spend with them. However, this doesnt change how much I still love the story.

Sarah...thank you for writing and sharing this story with us. I with treasure it and keep it as part of my book loving soul. I am looking forward to seeing what other magic comes from you and reading more of your marvelous works.

Sarah has taken me on another ride again, each book she writes I fall more and more on love with. Her writing is amazing, and she draws you in. Only this time, it didn’t just draw me in it broke down my defenses and made me feel so connected to Juniper and Saint. I ever never felt like I was living in the book with these characters as I did with this book. These characters were complex yet simple, and being able to write characters like that takes true talent. I felt like I wanted to break, I was in tears wanting to solve all the things that were holding them back and hurting them. The fact that their relationship was already building before everything took place, I loved that! Sarah is just amazing, and this book will forever hold a special place to me. Thank you, Sarah, for allowing us into your world and writing such an amazing book!

I was immediately gripped by the story from the very first few pages. However, the pacing in the book slows down and becomes quite repetitive. The story is about an on-the-run MMC, Saint, who falls for Juniper, the candlemaker struggling to keep going after her father’s passing. About half-way and then three-quarters of the way into the book, there is more excitement, but that’s mostly it. The story dives little into side-character development and I wish there was more to the world building and the dangers that are in the woods. I was hoping for more excitement and passion from Saint and Juniper’s interactions. But the last chapters had me tearing up. The story had a sweet ending and was nicely tied up.

✨ Sirens, Shifters and Fae
✨ Flirtatious Banter

This book felt like a Ghibli movie. The imagery and main story line had the whimsy of Howl’s Moving Castle. I loved the shifter/siren story beats and the chandlery descriptions fully immersed me in the story.

The relationship that formed between Saint and Juniper did feel a bit like insta-love, which isn’t something I typically like, but because they were so hesitant with each other it still felt like a satisfying slow burn.

There were a few inconsistencies that pulled me out of the story at times, but overall this is a book full of whimsy, high-stakes adventure and becoming who you want to be rather than what you were trained to be.

This was a refreshing read—I enjoyed that the characters weren't royalty or anyone special beyond who they were: a candlemaker and an orphan. Both struggled to escape their circumstances and found each other in the process.

The romance begins with mutual intrigue, building as a slow burn that eventually ignites into intense passion. Written in first-person dual POV, my only complaint is that it sometimes took a moment to determine whose perspective I was reading, since chapter headers didn't indicate the narrator. The story explores themes of grief, betrayal, and forgiveness, while featuring a morally gray male main character, witty banter, and the one horse trope!

Saint!!!
From a dual point of view I absolutely loved this book. I love seeing both sides. If you’re wanting a morally grey MMC who shape shifts and a family first FMC who’s also a siren this book is for you.

Juniper has lost her father and has taken over his shop, and that is when Saint makes his appearance and her whole life changes. The slow burn in this book is so good it keeps you wanting more.

This book should be your next read!

This started out high stakes with Saint and his friends breaking out from the man who adopted them, who later turned to be more of an oppressive ruler having them do his bidding. The friends have to separate, while on the run Saint needs money, so he meets Juniper and becomes a repair man for her and her mother around their home and shop. It quickly turns into a whirlwind romance that was super heartfelt and cute to read!

Wicks and Wings is an enchanting fantasy romance all wrapped up in one book. Although this is book 2 in the Fables from Sapphire Vale, it can be read on its own.
This story started off with a high stakes jail break, moving to a cozy small town slowburn romance to a bit of adventure. Overall a fantastic fantasy about loss, love, perseverance, and redemption.
Loved it, love the main characters, and I highly recommend this book.

Really enjoyed this book and the characters and how they evolved within the story.

this book was good. the storyline was different from other fantasies I have read. I liked the shifter aspect of this book. both the mmc and fmc had great chemistry.

If you love slow burn romances, this is the one for you. This has the slowest burn I’ve ever read, it has me yelling at the characters to just kiss already!! It was a super cute fantasy romance between a siren and a shifter. I loved following the characters through all their mishaps and mayhem.
