As owner of Silverton’s donut shop, I’ve surrounded myself with sugar, spice, and all things nice. Which is perfect, because donuts and friends never let a girl down. Unlike men.

I might've struck a line through relationships past and future, but when my no-good ex tries to ruin my present, the last thing I expect is for a man to step in. He's the mysterious, gorgeous half-French member of the Saint Security team, and somehow, now my boyfriend...?

Jean-Luc Doux needs a fake girlfriend, and I fit the bill, apparently. Actually, he needs a fake fiancee. The last thing I'm signing up for is a relationship, but since this is all pretend, I’ve got a guardrail keeping my heart safe in this ridiculous fantasy.

Until lines blur thanks to our growing friendship and an only one bed situation. This man makes me feel things I assumed I never would again. More than anything, he makes me feel safe.

Suddenly, I'm not so sure my battered heart isn’t at risk of falling for him. He’s solid and gentle and real in a way I never expected, and I’m in greater danger than I ever realized when I agreed to this deal.

Right With You is book six in the Veterans of Silver Ridge Series and can be read as a standalone.

This was a great Claire Cain book. I just loved the themes in this one. Especially the one of being curious instead of making immediate judgements. Both of the characters were not perfect but I loved how they learned and grew from their mistakes. I loved how they both allowed for grace. The inner thoughts of both characters seemed a little long and repetitive sometimes, but I LOVED that there was a lot of page time of the two main characters together. I always love the found family at Saint's Security. However, in this book, Luc's sister and brother- in-law were my favorite supporting characters. I’m so happy they had a lot of page time too. I could totally relate to Elise creating her own fantasy worlds in her head. I love that quirk of hers. Luc’s background was unique and fun to read about. I loved reading his lines in a French accent. I’m so happy the author chose to include so much intense action too! If you like Fake engagement, French culture, donuts, and ex military, then read this book!

SPOILERS and book notes:
I love the theme of being curious instead of judgmental. I love the theme of communicating instead of running away. And I love that they are ok with each other not being perfect. Just communicate.
3-5 days a week Jean-Luc Doux aka Cookie ordered a glaze donut and sat down put glasses on and read a French book for ten min then left. I love the scenarios Elise (34yo) imagined up. She lived a rich inner life: “Sometimes, I imagined he was a famous pop star hiding out in the safest place he could find. Other days, I wondered what it’d be like to discover he was on a secret mission from the government. Still other times, I fantasized about discovering he was some kind of fairy lord who ran a secret realm everyone assumed was bad but was actually an equitable and lovely place.” She loves his French accent way of pronouncing her name Elise: “A crisp eh instead of the variable American approaches to the start that so often sounded like uh. And then the firm se almost like a z, a far cry from the wispy ss sound of my native language.” AWWW!! Her horrible ex boyfriend cornered her in an alley way and was about to grab her when Jean-Luc shows up and grabs his arm and pins him to the wall! “someone grasping his arm and halting his progress toward me. “Hey, you can’t—” “No. You can’t. You won’t.” Jean-Luc. Holy crap, that was his murderous growl as he shoved Callum away from me and prowled after him.”…. “You will not touch her again.”…. Jean-Luc simply leaned in, cutting off the air enough to silence him. “Touch her again and I end you. That simple. You understand, or do I need to explain it?” “Callum shook his head, apparently understanding his predicament more clearly. “Good. Touch her”—he notched his head toward the side in gesture to me—“and you die. Easy.” Wow, not just super soldier vibes, but even I could believe he was defending the spurned honor of his woman.” These LINES: ““No, please. I mean, thank you. I—I’m sorry. I’m just…” Her lips pinched, and she shook her head. I was not a man easily moved to violence, but right now I almost wished the coward would wander back and try to touch her so I’d have my excuse.” They see both private people. Luc is secretly from a billionaire family from Europe!! He had been disowned by his family though and changed his last name. Now he is back from the military he is reowned but his gpa won’t give him the money unless he is married to a girl the gpa picks out. To get his family off his back he told him he was engaged to Elise! I LOCE this talk on body image and compliment! ““I’m just saying, some of us eat donuts regularly and it shows, and for some of us, it doesn’t.” I cheekily glanced down at my body, then over to him, promptly shifting so my back was to him, busying myself with the delivery bags a second later. His voice dropped low when he said, “Please tell me you’re not suggesting you are anything less than exquisite.” His nickname is Cookie bc he has a huge sweet tooth!! “The idea that this stunningly hot, muscular, half-French man ended up with the nickname Cookie because he likes cookies was just too adorable. He waved a hand between us. “It’s alright. Go ahead and laugh. I embrace it and I’ll be happy to see your smile.” I LOVE THAT ELISE IS CURIOUS INSTEAD OF JUDGMENTAL. “This was a rare quality—this genuine desire to hear and understand someone without instantly evaluating them.” They allow each other to not be perfect. To be human. He is going to neutralize her creepy ex. He is so protective. I love the feelings associated with this relationship: warm, gentle, safe. They thank each other for the opportunity to hold hands. And the love in that hug!! I love how Elise stands up to Luca’s gpa. He said that Odette would stay with Luc and she said no bc SHE was already living with him and that his sister and her husband will be staying with them too. I LOVE his sister Aurelie and Michael! They are the cutest French/Italian couple! So touchy feely and kind. Luc was the guy in the army that would get into locked buildings. He would plan how to break in to get the asset. He has a noble heart yet a silly side too. He bought her the perfect giant engagement ring so everyone know that “you are mine”. And then he got her a delicate chain necklace for her ring while she is working with donuts. “He’d considered me. It shouldn’t have been revolutionary, but it was. In his very Luc way, he’d given me a huge gift that might’ve seemed flashy for the sake of our situation, yet nestled it into thoughtfulness so personal, it made this feel real.” And she communicated to him that she wants him to kiss her! ““I need you to do something for me, though.” “Anything,” he said instantly, not a millisecond of hesitation. “Kiss me.” I love that she sees she doesn’t need to have a masters degree to have worth. I love the moment when two characters share the word “home” together. It is so soft and tender and a beautiful emotion of belonging, genuine love, protection, safety, and comfort. ““Home?” she asked, as though it was the most natural thing. As though the two of us going home together was always what came next on nights like these. As though this wasn’t all a ruse, as proved by the kiss we’d shared. As though we both belonged there. And so we went.” Now they have to share a bed. And this happened after he sat on his side of bed and it made me lol: “But then he did it. That sneaky Frenchman knocked the wind right out of me with one easy move. He slipped on a pair of thick-framed reading glasses and pulled out a book. And all my confidence melted into a steamy little pile of swoon.” Hahaha I love the cookie making scene: “Was he… was he snuggling me? Seducing me? Was this what happened when you made a man nicknamed Cookie chocolate chip cookies? Note to self: cookies every day.” AWWW IM DYING. She gets stolen and held for ransom. She yells Lucs name when he storms the castle and her evil ex boyfriend holds a knife to her neck!! I’m so happy they get engaged again 6mo later! The bonus epilogue of their honey moon in France too!!! She is learning French!!! And he dresses like a Frenchman! Haha

🍩 Right With You by Claire Cain

🔖 First Line Hook
“How does this man eat donuts three to five days a week and look like that?”
Relatable much? As someone who has to watch my sugar intake (thanks, inflammation), I immediately smirked at this line. Claire Cain sets the tone with humor and honesty—and let’s be real, the injustice of watching someone devour carbs with zero consequences is a universal struggle. This first line instantly gave me that “okay, I like this book already” vibe.

📚 Plot Snapshot
After surviving a toxic relationship, Elise is rebuilding her life with guarded hope. Luc, the charming donut-devourer with a protective streak, isn’t just easy on the eyes—he’s also part of Saint Security, the elite team that knows how to handle danger and defend hearts. As trust grows between them, so does a deeper connection… but past wounds and real threats force them to decide what they’re truly ready for.

🖋️ Writing Style Vibe
Claire Cain’s writing feels like catching up with a quick-witted friend over coffee. The dialogue snaps, the emotions hit, and the pacing keeps you hooked without feeling rushed. It strikes that balance between lighthearted charm and emotional honesty—warm, modern, and engaging from start to finish.

❤️ My Highlights

✨ Elise’s healing journey is handled with grace. She’s vulnerable, guarded, but never helpless—and watching her slowly open up to Luc is both heartwarming and rewarding.
✨ Luc. Is. A. Dream. He’s thoughtful, steady, respectful—and exactly the kind of man you root for. His tenderness toward Elise, especially after what she endured with Callum (ugh), makes you cheer for their love story.
✨ The friendship dynamics are another strong suit. I loved how both Elise and Luc have people they trust to process things with—grown-up friendships that feel real and grounding.
✨ The romantic tension builds gradually, but the payoff is worth it. This one edges close to the "closed-door" boundary, but still keeps things respectful and clean.
✨ A touch of suspense gives the story its usual Saint Security edge—yes, there’s a kidnapping subplot again (a bit of a recurring pattern), but it adds urgency without overwhelming the romance.

🤔 What Fell Flat (if anything)
The formula is starting to feel slightly familiar—particularly the “damsel in danger” beats with a protective team coming to the rescue. It still works, but if you’ve read other books in the series, it may start to feel a bit expected.

⭐ Final Rating + Shelf Status
✨ Solid 4 stars. Definitely a keep for fans of clean romantic suspense. Perfect for readers who love protective heroes, emotional healing, and a romance that builds on mutual respect and vulnerability.

As the sixth book in the Veterans of Silver Ridge series, this story contains so many old friends with new and continued stories that it keeps the reader totally engaged. This is the story of Jean-Luc (aka Cookie) and Elise's HEA. Luc is a member of the Saint Security and hoping to help expand the business with his trust fund if he can get his grandfather to release it. Elise is the owner of Glazed, a donut shop in Silverton.

Cookie comes into Glazed several times a week for his glazed donut fix and to check out the owner, Elise. Through a rough past with family, he needs to jump through hoops to get his grandfather to release his trust fund and panics stating he is getting married to Elise. Elise, meanwhile is struggling to get out from under the manipulation of an ex who wants her to sell her store to get his investment back quickly. The ex resorts to violence and Cookie steps in to save the day and Elise from harm again by panicking and creating a relationship with Elise. Now Elise has to decide whether she wants to play along with Cookie's announcements, can she trust him, and does she trust her feelings for him. The story takes place over a short period of time, but their history of interactions is discussed and the current situations are handled with great details.

Sit back and enjoy the ride through the love story from fake announcements, saving the damsel in distress, saving the Cookie in need, and a little suspense thrown in to keep everyone guessing. Even though this book is part of the series it can still be read as a standalone, but definitely more fun as part of the series. Highly recommend not only this book but the entire series. Start here or start at the beginning, a great series with wonderful closed-door HEA.

I received an ARC copy of this book and I am leaving an honest voluntary review.

This book has me in a chokehold. I freaking love it. The writing? Beautiful. The romance? Slow-burn perfection.

Luc, he is a veteran and half-French. This man, he is kind, funny, and oh so protective of Elise. And man, does he know how to grovel. Ugh, perfection. He treats Elise with such tenderness, care, and respect. Honestly, he’s everything you want in a romance hero.

Elise owns the donut shop in town. She’s spunky, strong, and still finding her footing after a disastrous relationship. She and Luc strike up an agreement to be temporarily engaged. Mutually benefitting them both, he needs a fake fiancé to put off his family's matchmaking. For Elise, it's to keep her abusive ex far from her.

I loved how their relationship developed. They start as strangers, make the effort to become friends, and then finally let themselves fall for each other. Their progression felt so real and intentional. I especially loved how open they were with their expectation, there wasn’t a ton of miscommunication (thank goodness). Yes, they were both afraid of what falling in love could mean, but despite that fear, they gave it a real shot. And once they did? They were just perfection together.

I always love the suspense element in Claire's books. They are so well written and add so much depth to the overall plot, and keep me on the edge of my seat.

If you love small town, protective men, and strong female leads, please add this to your TBR. Honestly, the entire Veterans of Silver Ridge series is worth reading. Highly recommend!!

Thank you, Claire Cain, for the ARC. 🫶🏻

Right With You is the sixth book in the Veterans of Silver Ridge series. While previous characters do make appearances, this could definitely be enjoyed as a standalone. (I have personally only read one of the previous books and found that didn't impact my enjoyment at all.)

Oh my goodness, this book! Where to even begin!? Luc and Elise together were just... absolutely perfect. Due to their pasts, neither one has any interest in a serious relationship, and of course as romance readers, we know exactly what that means. When he needs to prove to his grandfather that he's in a committed relationship, Elise steps in as his fake fiancée. As they are forced to spend more time... and even live together... to pull off the ruse, those feelings very quickly become anything but fake. The chemistry between these two is absolutely undeniable and I couldn't get enough. Luc is the perfect French MMC with his protectiveness over Elise... oh, I just loved it! If you love a good 'touch her and die' moment... this one will definitely be right up your alley. It's such a tender romance, with just enough suspense and unexpected twists to keep you on the edge of your seat. I've only read a handful of books by Claire Cain, but she's very quickly becoming a favorite... and this book is prime example of why! I cannot wait to see what happens next in the series!

Right With You is a closed-door romance with steamy kisses, but nothing beyond that on the pages. It does have some minor language throughout.

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

So good!

- "Secret identity."
- One bed
- Billionaire family
- Swoony (not spicy)
- Found family

Jean-Luc, or "Cookie" the half-Frenchman/retired special ops guy, who'd allegedly spent time modeling at some point in his past, and is so easy on the eyes, and Elise who owns the local donut shop are casual acquaintances. She likes to make up stories in her head about him, because he's so pleasant to daydream about. And aren't our fantasies much safer than real life? She's just gotten out of a terrible relationship and has developed an immunity to love in real life. But dreaming about the dreamy guy who stops in for his donut a few times a week and barely exchanging a few words is fine. So, imagine her surprise when Jean-Luc asks her to be his fake girlfriend-almost-fiancee. There's one she hadn't thought of! The pirate holding a swooning woman while his long hair and billowing sleeves flutter in the wind, yes. But not that one!

This book is great as a stand-alone. But even better if you're already invested in their friends/found family. The side characters are so special. If you love this book, and I can't imagine anyone NOT loving it - dive in to the rest of the series and catch up while you wait for the final installment of Veterans of Silver Ridge.

Read as an ARC in exchange for my honest opinions. I. Loved. It.

This was the sweetest! I adore this series and I was so excited to learn more about Luc. Um, there was so much more to Luc and Elsie. Right with You is the sixth book in Claire Cain’s Veteran’s of Silver Ridge series.
I loved getting to know Luc and Elise better and read about their romance. They both had fears and it was wonderful to read about them connecting with each other. They had to learn to communicate with each other and see if love was worth the risk.
Both Luc and Elise grew throughout the book and came out stronger. They felt real and I cheered for them as they worked through their fears about love. They definitely had to learn to communicate with each other first but I love how they felt comfortable with each other. The romance was perfect and Luc was definitely swoony.
I adored Luc’s sister and brother-in-law, they were the best! It was also fun to see old characters again and read about dynamics from a different perspective. Oh my goodness, the hints of suspense were perfect. I didn’t know what was going to happen but everything worked out perfectly. I really enjoyed how there was some suspense but it wasn’t too scary.
The book drew me in and I would totally recommend it! I am beyond excited for the next book! Stone’s story is a need. Right with You is a closed door contemporary romance.

Oh my! Where do I start?!?!
Each book in this series keeps getting better and better! I don't want it to end :(
Luc's wealthy grandfather is trying to force Luc to marry a woman of his choosing, only to further his company's stature, Elise's abusive ex is trying to finagle his way back into her life and is threatening to sell her donut shop (he had invested in her business).
Luc proposes a fake engagement to Elise to waylay his grandfather and to stop Elise's abusive ex from bothering her. Neither is interested in dating, romantic entanglements or love...we all know how that's going to work out!
Luc & Elise are so perfect for each other. I love how Luc is so protective over Elise but respects her boundaries, lets her do her thing and doesn't interfere in her business...so unlike her ex! Of course she's going to fall in love with him!
I love how Elise's self esteem grows each time she has an encounter with Luc's grandfather and how Luc falls more & more after each encounter.
I loved that we got a glimpse into the lives of the characters in previous books to see how their lives are going.
Thank you to the author for this advance review copy. This is my honest, voluntary review.

Claire Cain is a fantastic author, and I love the entire Veterans of Silver Ridge series. We’ve seen glimpses of interactions between Luc + Elise throughout the other books, so I was so excited to read their story!

🍪 Fake engagement
🍪 He falls first
🍪 Veteran/billionaire MMC
🍪 No 3rd Act Breakup
🍪 “Touch her and die”
🍪 He rescues her

(As a potential trigger warning, there are references/glimpses to a past abusive relationship, as well as controlling family members.)

Jean-Luc’s family wants him to marry someone out of duty to align business interests - the only way he can avoid this is convincing his family he’s already engaged. Even though Elise has captured his attention from the beginning, he’s not interested in risking it all on something real, so a fake engagement that could benefit them both seems to be the answer. But what happens when they’re faced with situations that cause them both to reexamine their arrangement?

Silver Ridge, with its family of veterans who work at Saint Security, is becoming a familiar setting for me. Elise owns the local donut shop in Silverton and is intrigued by a certain customer who stops by frequently to enjoy her donuts. Jean-Luc is intrigued by this beautiful shop owner. When her ex-boyfriend threatens her, Jean-Luc steps in, rescuing his “girlfriend” from his violence.
The two of them team up to create a fake engagement that helps both of them to achieve what they need. It doesn’t take long for true feelings to develop. The way this story unfolds captivates the reader. For those of you who are reading the whole series, I truly enjoyed how Kenny added his great sense of humor to the circumstances surrounding the fake engagement. Can’t wait for the 7th book in the Veterans of Silver Ridge series.

Right With You

Jean-Luc and Elise have such a wonderful and sweet story. There are also many moments of laughter hidden as gems in the book. Elise owns Glazed, the local donut shop. She has no desire for a relationship with any man after her past experiences. Jean-Luc has been hiding something important from his friends. He is not who they thought, or is he? He needs a fake fiancé to deter his grandfather from making Jean-Luc marry a socialite of his choosing. Elise is surprised when Jean-Luc asks her to be his fake fiancé while his grandfather is in town. So now we have two people who do not ever want a serious relationship faking an engagement. Can they succeed in not involving their hearts while they pretend to be engaged? But there is also a bit of danger thrown into the mix as well. Read the book to see if they survive.

Plot: Luc’s background is a little bit more intense than he ever let on. With familial pressure to bend to their will, he defies them by claiming he is engaged to a woman they don’t know. Thinking this will keep them away, he throws out a friend’s name. When they decide to come visit and see this for themselves, he must convince her to play the doting fiancé, so totally in love. After she agrees, things get weird. How will their friendship change? How will their friends react? What will his family say? Will his crush grow or shrink?

What I liked: I liked that Luc truly cared for Elise. I loved that they were able to grow a relationship under such pressure. I also loved that she stood up for Luc when his family was so out of line.

What I didn’t like: I didn’t like that the other girl’s parents were willing to harm someone they didn’t know for money. What a joke! That’s insane behavior.

Swearing: some uses of minor swear words

Physical intimacy level: closed door, swoony

Star rating: 5 stars

Trope: friends to lovers (kinda), fake dating, fake engagement, forced proximity, one bed, ex military, hidden identity

If you like strong men and equally strong women, this series is for you. Right With You features Luc and Elise, two introverts who hold their pain privately. Luc has remained throughout the series as a handsome, genial man who is somewhat quiet and a whole lot mysterious. Elise is everyone’s favorite because of her kindness and her delicious donuts! At a time when both are in dire need they find solutions in each other but promise to keep feelings out of it, which didn’t work — thank goodness. These two are so good together. The story only covers several days but the pacing is slow enough for lots of detail. If you like clean romance with strong characters who learn as they fail, read Right With You. I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest opinion.

I really love this series…with tough men who go all soft and squishy when they meet the right woman. Although you could read this book as a stand-alone book, I think your reading experience will be richer if you’ve read the earlier books in this series. You get to see many of the same characters again, and catch up with their current lives.
The book is very well written, with complex characters weathering love, betrayal, suspense, and some laughter along the way. It’s also a “swoony” book but has no sex (on or off the page) or explicit scenes. A sweet suspenseful book that I definitely recommend!

"As owner of Silverton’s donut shop, I’ve surrounded myself with sugar, spice, and all things nice."
Right With You is the sixth book in the Veterans of Silver Ridge series and follows Elise and Luc in this sweet romance read. The author did such a great job writing this one and I love all of the characters in this book. This could be read as a stand alone but I highly recommend reading the other books in the series. I loved this additon to the series and I was happy to be back in Silver Ridge and with the Saint Security family. Thank you to the author for this romance read in exchange of my honest review of Right With You.

“Touch her again and I end you.”
Touch her and die?! Stop. I’m obsessed. We finally get ooey gooey Cookie’s story and I’m HERE FOR IT!!!! Jean Luc is my euro-dream man. I adored this story from the opening scene. Elise is such a great character. I love her determination to keep her small business afloat and her sweet group of friends. This is part of a series and you don’t need to read the previous books to follow along but it definitely fills in how wonderful all the side characters are. Overall if you’re looking for a cozy cuddly romance book with an emotionally aware MMC and a positive tough FMC this one’s it!!

Swoon! This is the 6th book in the Veterans of Silver Ridge and can be a stand-alone book. I LOVE this series and all of the people working at Saint Security.
The tenderness Luc/Cookie has towards Elise is so sweet. Luc’s grandfather has decided Luc needs to marry another person so he can get his trust fund/inheritance.
Elise owns the donut shop in the small town and just got out of a bad relationship. They fake a relationship for the grandfather.
Tropes: strong heroine, military hero, small town, fake finance.

I loved Luc and Elise’s story ♥️. Both characters have emotional scars from their pasts that has kept them closed off to romantic relationships. Luc is struggling with the expectations from his grandfather and Elise is trying to save her donut shop and move on from her abusive ex. A fake engagement seems like the perfect solution to their problems. They soon realize it only complicates their growing feelings towards each other. Their relationship is a slow burn with sweetness, some humor and captivating suspense.

This story is just, WOW!!! I loved Luc and Elise, they are so perfect together. They both had scars that made them not sure that they wanted to have a relationship. Her with an ex, that wouldn’t leave her alone, him with his grandfather, who thought he could tell him who to marry. A fake engagement seems like it will benefit them both. I liked how they seemed to become friends, then more. This story is sweet and swoony, with some suspense that made me not want to put the book down and the proposal was so… perfect! Fantastic story you don’t want to miss.

I recommend this clean, contemporary romance that tells the story of Jean-Luc and Elise, from fake engagement to happy-ever-after.

Both Luc and Elise are seriously introverted, but it was delightful to watch them open up to each other. Kenny, Luc's best friend, adds plenty of fun and teasing.

I've thoroughly enjoyed this series, and getting to know the team of Saint Security. Each story is a standalone but reading the series adds to the enjoyment.

I was given an Advance Reader Copy of this story, but all thoughts and opinions are mine, given voluntarily.

Elise’s tendency to daydream and have her own mind dialogues is so sweet and endearing you can’t help but rot for her to find her HEA even if she thinks love is not for her. Lucy’s determination to never fall in love and lose himself if his heart is broken can’t stop him for developing feelings for his fake fiancée. Elise and Luc are meant to be together and their journey to each others hearts will help them grow as a person and open their hearts to true love. Magnifique!!!

Luc comes from a wealthy family. He had changed his name to his grandmother's maiden name to hide his identity. His grandfather has decided it's time for him to get married. He has been interested in Elise so he asks her to be his fake fiancé when his grandfather comes to town with his intended bride to be. Elise owns the local donut shop. She has a controlling ex and isn't interested in dating. She agrees to help Luc because it will keep her ex at bay too. As they get to know each other, they both start to let down their walls. Grandfather is rude, but Luc and Elise work through all that he throws their way. Elise learns that she is stronger than she thinks. She is also proud of her accomplishments as a "donut shop owner". Very well done in working through the fears that both of them have.

If you've read any of Claire Cain's books, then you have a good idea what to expect - a clean, beautiful romance, with quality writing. Luc and Elise find themselves in a fake relationship that is mutually beneficial to both of them, but the emotions become all too real and must be acknowledged. This can be read as a standalone, but the Saint Security characters will be more fully appreciated having read the previous books in the series.

4.5⭐️ Really enjoyed this fake fiancé romance! I love all of the found family in this series. Seeing both main characters open up to the other people in their lives and push themselves to be vulnerable definitely struck a cord with me. There is so much freedom in sharing yourself with the people you care about and letting them care for you. Plus, all the French endearments, and a French version of Kenny!

So Good!

I already loved all of Saint Security and the women of Silver Ridge, and Luc and Elise's story was just perfect, totally swoon-worthy! The romantic tension between these two was always thick. I loved reading both of their POV chapters. The friend dynamics and dialogs and bantering were perfect yet again. As the characters said, they weren't perfect, just right. I literally had to fight myself to put this book down for sleep. I'm looking forward to the next book.

I love a good protective hero and Luc fits the bill. I admired how Elise wants to stand on her own two feet after being controlled for so long. She keeps it all inside not even sharing with her best friends. The lie that brings them together leads to more than either expected. You will be rooting for Luc and Elise.

I love Claire Cain's Silver Ridge community and all the characters in the storyworld. She does a great job helping these military vets adjust to life after the military and helping each of them find their HEA. Luc and Elise were no exception and I love how shy Luc finally got his girl! This is another winner and I was already hooked! I can't wait for Dorian's story!

I really wanted to love this book, I mean, there's a French MMC. What's not to love?
But I didn't like the constant monologue interrupting the dialogue. My ADHD prefers a dialogue that flows without inner thoughts thrown in the middle. I was skipping entire pages and that's when I knew I couldn't go on. It was very distracting. So sorry.

Luc is such a darling! I think he's my favorite... but are you kidding? The guys in this series are all my favorites! Super caring and protective, with the very best friends. Sweet, funny, emotional, and tons of romance!
