Indecent: A Dark F/F/F Romantasy

Rate this book
In the United Kinvarrea Realm, women who love other women are the only ones born as mages or Vampires. Most try to hide what they are.

When Evie is sent to Spurnwater Island to attend the infamous paranormal reform academy, it's certainly not by choice. Unfortunately, as a Vampire and a ruined woman, it's her last option. The last thing she expects is to fall for her fellow classmate—the sweet and pretty Rion. Even more surprising? The Fixer who shattered Evie's heart a year and a half ago reappears as her instructor.

Her chemistry with the beguiling Gymma is just as volatile, awakening the demon on Evie's shoulder and toying with her emotions all over again. Tropes: age gap (20 & 26), teacher + student, 2nd chance hate-to-love, forced proximity, body betrayal, found family, spice, "good girl", ménage in the epilogue.

Author's Note: This is a dark romance with a bratty, unhinged FMC, uneven power dynamics, and dark themes. (18+ only!) Polyamory is practiced in this world, and the FMCs will be a throuple by the end. This story contains two different timelines and is told in alternating past and present tense. Full-length, standalone prequel novel with HEA.

This was... not good. It's trying to do a bsdm thing and it just comes off as super unhealthy. There are just, so many things wrong. I couldn't even get into the steamy bits because the people seemed more like they hated each other than liked each other. There was insta-love, but no build-up, then treating each other like crap, then later pining, like, retroactively? Then randomly at the end it's like "oh, this other person I *just* started sleeping with because I couldn't have you, they are in our relationship, too-cool?" A lot of the plot felt out of order or disjointed in some way - things that were flashbacks or happened in the past weren't clearly marked enough maybe? It felt like someone took all the pieces of a book they had worked on and like, cut and pasted huge sections, moving them around to see what worked, then didn't go back and fix anything after to streamline it and make it make sense. Also - I'm reluctant to say this book has vampires - it sort of does? It also has "demuns" LOL and the summary basically made it sound like, maybe all women who love women are persecuted and called "demuns" but also like, they may actually be demons of some sort? And there was blood-drinking and some supernatural stuff casually mentioned not in a metaphorical way, so it wasn't that but also, it just did not make any sense. The world was not fully built, and what there WAS in the world was kind of... ugly and gross and unlikeable.

Anyway I read this a couple of months ago. Somewhere in May-June, probably.

GET ME OUGHTTA HERE!!!! oh brother i cant even. do not care im sorry. the whole time i was like .....what. I could not get over the Gymma and Everly age gap/power dynamic situation. it plagued me the entire time. i think the fact that Gymma was getting paid to transport Everley to a boarding school and then "fell in love" and then fucked like rubbed me the wrong way. girl do your job dont gross me out. and then she ended up being the teacher at the school so it was teacher x student relationship i just cant hop on that train #toowoke. i think it was a cool concept, like vampires that are all lesbians and people hate them idk. the plot felt underdeveloped and like the only relationship i cared about was Everley and Rion. Rion was a baddieeeee. i wanted to shoot Gymma with a gun. so cringe and annoying. ALSO SHE WOULDNT STOP SAYING CRIMINY GIRL WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT. take a shot every time you read criminy. Everley meeting the Spurnwater Survivor's Society at the end and then coincidently they also have Gymma's stopwatch boy shut it. and then Finton coming in and trying to kidnap Everley??? huh?? so did not match into the story and unnecessary. and then at the end, the mom was just ok that she had disappeared from boarding school and moved to a different country? sure. i also think the writing was bad. some of the language felt too woke. like it would say something about consent or safe words or ethical nonmonogamy and it would just make me laugh.

Quotes:
- ' "I am no longer cutting myself into smaller, more manageable pieces. With all due respect, you and the rest of this backward, godforsaken society can choke on all that I am." '
- ' "Yes," I gasp. "Do whatever you want. Drink me, take me, make me yours." '

I loved this book! I monstered through it in one sitting after getting it in a stuff your kindle event. I found the world building strong and unique even though I have read a lot of books in this genre and find others can get a bit cut and paste at times. I am excited to delve into the rest of this authors work!

Sadly, this book was a massive disappointment. I'd heard so many great things about it that when I saw it on promo I didn't resist grabbing, curious as I'd grown for it. Unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations. The first 20-30% of it was great, full of social commentary and an interesting premise, engaging writing style and what promised to be a really good world and character building. The intial bits at the academy carried an adult The Little Princess/Jane Eyre vibe that had me hooked, especially when it sounded like the girls had come upon a little bit of mystery. But then everything started going downhill, and what the book promised at the start failed to be delivered. The social commentary was there just for form's sake, the 'little mystery' had absolutely no importance in the grand scheme of things - it was recovered at the end of the book just so it didn't become something of a Tchekov's gun, I believe - and what had started out as a promise of an interesting story soon became just... sex.
Mind, I have no issue whatsoever with explicit sex scenes in books. I have no issue with erotica, either. But it was not what this book promised at the start, and suddenly being confronted with the sexual relationships between characters as the entire premise of the plot was sort of a letdown. A huge one. At one point, the sex scenes were just so alike that I started skimming through them, so I could get to the end. What promised to be a tale full of depth fell very short of its promise, because depth was definitely what this book was missing. The characters and the story were all surface level, nothing is dug into, everything just hovers there, above surface. The characters are superficial and extremely annoying, or simply amorphous blurbs without so much as a personality you can grasp from their part. The relationships lacked chemistry and depth, they were based on lust, only, never love - again, I have absolutely no issue with characters having sex just for the sake of it, because they want to and are feeling horny, but the author constantly shoving at our faces just how in love these women were with each other when there is no build up to those emotions was a bit of a disservice for the entire book. They are not in love, they are in lust, and that's just fine, but it was terribly done. Nothing was credible, between them, and because of the shallowness in writing those characters, nothing regarding their emotions was believable.
I'm sure there are many, many readers who will love this book - if you're looking for a steamy read, then this is great! - but those who expect a story and characters with any depth to them, I would not recommend it.

this book was so so so good, I loved it so much, I was captivated from the very beginning and it was AMAZING throughout, I loved it so much, it’s definitely the best book I’ve read in a long time, I LOVED it, The story was amazing, I was SO gripped.
This was my first full length F/F/F book and I was NOT disappointed!!
I loved Rion so much, I think she was my favorite character, I loved her from the moment she was introduced.
I also loved the whole friendship group they form together, I think that was so special and the fact they all ended up in relationships, like even the side characters all got their happy endings and had their own stories was really nice.
Evie was also such a great character, they all were in this book, I loved everyone but Evie was especially amazing, and Evie and Rion together were so magical! Evie and Rions relationship was everything to me and I loved it so much, I loved how comfortable they were together and how giggly and sweet they were.
The spice also was EVERYTHING, like it was SO good, AMAZING even, SPECTACULAR, each spice scene elevated the story and was put in so well, and also so hot obviously and just so steamy and hot and amazing.
Also the world building??? Next level, AMAZING, so good, I could picture everything so clearly and understood everything going on and why it was happening in this world, the world building was SPECTACULAR, I quite literally loved EVERYTHING about this book!
I loved this entire book, from beginning to end and I CAN NOT WAIT for the next book!

This was really very good! A spicy FFF sapphic vampire love story that had me kicking my feet and giggling for the 3 FMC’s.

There was an element of time jumping back and forth from past and present but I didn’t find it confusing at all and I enjoyed that part.
I did find that once the past story had finished and I was caught up to the present, things moved fairly quickly to the end of the story and maybe there could have been more in between that. It felt like Rion and Gymma had an insta love connection which was fine but we just didn’t get to see much of a development between those two before they were just as in love as Gymma and Everley. Though Gymma and Everley have a lot more extensive history than Rion does to either of them but especially with Gymma I didn’t see the love connection as much as it just seemed like a new love lustful type of energy but I still loved them all together.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and didn’t realize how much I needed a sapphic vampire throuple love story but I absolutely did!
I also loved the writing, it was written beautifully and loved a lot of passages I read along with it being just an interesting and unique take on a vampire love story. Very lovely and unique read I loved it. The

Indecent is one of my first polyamory sapphic based reads and even though that wasn't the main theme of the plot, it was a feature that I absolutely adored! The last chapter scene with all the spice was just pure perfection, and my toes were scrunching in glee as I read! And the communication/consent aspect of the polyamrous relationship was done beautifully. I really would recommend reading it just for the polyamory aspect.

Despite the difficult subjects of not fitting in, feeling rejected from society (vampires are females and are seen as lesser), I felt that it was a great feel-good story, with such a happy ending. The world building was well done, without that introductory chapter epic fantasies often have to explain the world, but instead cleverly intertwining bits and pieces into the plot as you went along.

There was multiple timelines, which I'm personally not a fan of, but it worked well for the novel. I believe this is a prequel to a series, and I hope to hear more about Rion in later works - I really liked her character! It seemed to be focussed on the Victorian time period, with elements of steam punk so if these are your vibes, you might enjoy it on that merit too.

I hate to say I did not enjoy this book. It wasn’t the worst thing I’ve read by any means. I did enjoy the concept. It was unique with vampires being only females and their attraction to other females being part of the vampire characteristic. We also got flashbacks for two of our main characters which was fun.

The story seemed to really drag out certain parts and had a lot of unnecessary repetition. I also got annoyed with the amount of times Mag/Gymma said “criminy” with what little narrative she did have. I did find myself skimming through bits. Like the pocket watch, it was important to the character and needed repair, but I felt like we didn’t need an entire chapter describing that.

The attraction between Mag/Gymma and Everley was hot. I did enjoy the spice scenes. Rion kind of bored me. I feel like we didn’t get enough of her character development..

picked up this one in a recent stuff your kindle day, and i love me a good lesbian vampire book! this one is a standalone, set in the world of a larger series in which only the first book is out yet, and im really intrigued to see more of this world as i start reading the series. The setting has a really interesting spin on vampirism, and the social structures surrounding it, as well as how it was to be a woman in a ~1930’s based fantasy world. I honestly think the author did really well in doing this without making it into a sort of trauma-porn, as you tend to see in some darker books. the characters themselves were also well written, and overall im very excited to read what comes next in this world!! 😊

This book made me VERY uncomfortable. The age gap between Everley and Gymma is already rough. When you include the power dynamic, it is just gross. I'm not sure if it's trying for some kind of BDSM thing, but it honestly just comes off as grooming.

Everley really acts like a child, and with her age, she just barely isn't. As the book goes on, it becomes increasingly clear that that is exactly what Gymma is attracted to.

Ignoring the other problems with this book(there's a lot), I wouldn't recommend it. Didn't finish, stopped about 3/4ths of the way through because I was grossed out.

Also, I never even got to the throuple part, although I can't imagine I'd enjoy reading that given Everley and Gymmas dynamic.

A dark fantasy romance that adds a new twist to vampire lore. At its core, Indecent explores themes of identity, acceptance, and the complexities of love. The protagonists' journey toward is portrayed with sensitivity and depth, highlighting the nuances of relationships in a fantastical setting. The world-building is immersive, with Savage creating a realm that feels both magical and grounded. The incorporation of magic and vampirism adds layers of intrigue, while the focus on sapphic relationships offers a refreshing perspective in the fantasy genre.

Sapphic polyamorous vampires?! Yes, please! I really enjoyed this book. TW for homophobia, sexism and SA. The ending felt a bit rushed, but other than that I loved the characters and the story itself. Perfectly spicy and makes you fall in love with the three MCs. A bit of a Dom/sub dynamic (all consensual and beautifully done) between the characters. Wish there were more from these three characters. This is a prequel, so I'm looking forward to reading the first book in this series.

So I'll admit I'm a bit torn about this one! Overall, I enjoyed it. I liked the characters and the different timeliness and POV, and the tension between the characters and the spice was spicing, but I was also left wanting a bit more! Though this is a prequel to a series out later this year, which will hopefully give me what time after! I'll definitely be keeping my eyes peeled for it!

A deeply emotional and harrowing tale of vampires with sapphic, polyamorous love in a setting that feels both steampunk-ish and gothic. I loved the spooky, chilling vibes from this and the tension between the characters. For mature readers only.

Honestly I couldn’t put this down!!

The tension between Mags and Evie was so delightful it kept me dying for more.

I definitely loved the “magic system” and I can’t wait for her next book to build on this foundation!
