Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (Rounded up—because we could all use a little more love in the world!)

Thank you to Book Funnel, Danielle Hughes, and Four Moons Publishing for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

April Green has poured her heart into her florist shop, April in Bloom, but the weekend market brings one constant frustration—Caleb Michaels, the flower farmer who snagged the stall she had her eye on. Their rivalry is built on sharp words and stubborn pride, but when circumstances force them to work together, they start seeing each other in a new light.

This novella is the definition of a cozy, Hallmark-esque romance—predictable, sweet, and full of small-town charm. Though it leans into the grumpy-sunshine trope, April felt a little too unaccommodating, and Caleb a little too arrogant, making it hard for me to fully connect with their romance. That said, I can absolutely see this story hitting the spot for readers who love familiar tropes and lighthearted, feel-good love stories.

At the end of the day, we could all use a little more love in the world, which is why I rounded my rating up to three stars. If you enjoy playful banter, a cozy small-town setting, and a guaranteed HEA (happily ever after), this could be the perfect afternoon escape.

I received an ARC from the author with no expectations for a review of the book. This is my
honest, voluntary opinion after reading it.

This was a charming, enemies to friends and perhaps
more story of two people who have a chemistry between them but because of a broken promise animosity developed and remained.

When a chance to help a young couple out with their wedding by providing the flowers and arrangements seems to be falling through because of the cost she quotes them, her enemy steps in and gives them a lower cost for the flowers so she can do the arrangements for them. As they work together to get the wedding taken care of and also another big contract she has when her normal flower contact has a disaster and can’t supply her with flowers, Caleb steps in and saves April’s business and reputation by
supplying the flowers needed. Another misunderstanding almost ends what could have been disastrous for both of them love-wise but luckily everything works out in the end when the misunderstanding is cleared up.

I enjoyed this short, quick read which is perfect for a couple of hours of cozy no spice reading! I happily recommend this book as one I think you’ll enjoy and recommend to your family and friends to read.

My first encounter with Danielle Hughes’s books was through her Mystica fantasy trilogy. Recently, she has branched out into short, clean (closed door) romance. Flower-centric Spring Rain is one of these new endeavors. I was a beta reader for this book.

The book follows the standard pattern of the main leads beginning in conflict, eventually starting to develop feelings for each other, followed by a major issue separating them once again, ultimately ending with a final reconciliation (and happily-ever-after). The standard pattern seems fresh and interesting in this book (perhaps because I don’t read boatloads of books that are purely romance---usually getting the romance as part of a fantasy, science fiction, or historical drama). The flower-theme is a good backdrop for the story. The dialog and internal monologues are natural and believable. The actions of the characters are well-motivated and authentic.
I found this story to be a short, enjoyable, feel-good read.

This is a cute Hallmark romance style novella. It is a nice quick read that gives you exactly what you expect and want. This book follows April who has built up her own floral business on her own and her rival Caleb, who works for his family flower farm. As they are forced to work together on a wedding, you watch them fall for each other even though they don't realize it themselves and just seem to annoy each other at any opportunity they get. April and Caleb are prodded along by their family and friends who can obviously see what's actually going on.

I loved the simplicity of this book, but it did left me wishing to know more details about the characters, their backgrounds, personalities, and futures. I do hope that there are sequels where we can learn what happens after the end of Spring Rain and to the supporting characters. If you're looking for a cozy romance that checks all the boxes, this is it.

I got this as an arc from bookfunnel. I liked the overall book but didn’t really like the characters that much . April was a little too prissy and a control freak and Caleb was very arrogant . I liked the story and would like a little more even though it’s a novella .
The story was cute with charm like a hallmark movie with a happy ever after we come to expect . Competing vendors in the market he grows the flowers and she makes arrangements. They are forced to work together when a couple want to use her designs for their wedding but can’t afford her designs due to her vendor costs . Caleb steps in and offers a better price for the flowers but still using her designs due.
They go through a few rough patches and she has to learn to trust due to her past abandonment issues but Caleb is family focus and makes her wish she could have that .

Ohhh this is a beautiful romance novella.
The book is so appropriately named ' Spring rain' as the whole story makes me feel warm like how spring sun does and a little frustrated as the rain can be, as I just wanted April to let down her guard. The colours describing weather filled me with spring thoughts and I was easily transported to beautiful flower gardens in my mind as I read through.

It had me smiling the whole book and I so happily continued reading it in one day as I was wanting to find out how their story goes. A wonderful feel good story that left me wanting more and can't wait to read other books in this series.

(True rating: 3.5 stars rounded up)

As I have always prided myself in reviewing pre-released books honestly, I was thankful to be given the opportunity to read this copy of “Spring Rain” by Danielle Hughes.

“Spring Rain” is a short and sweet, “cookie-cutter” romance about two rival flower vendors at a local market, April Green and Caleb Michaels. Ever since they were assigned neighboring stalls months before the story begins, April and Caleb have butted heads. April sees Caleb as an arrogant know-it-all who never fails to get under her skin, and the two spend most of their time exchanging snide remarks or simply trying to ignore each other. However, when an unexpected work opportunity forces them to collaborate, their dynamic begins to shift in ways neither expected. The story follows their “budding” romance, navigating the highs and lows of their growing connection.

The story follows a familiar path, offering a comforting but predictable love story. I felt like it progressed at a slow pace, which allowed for a gradual romance, but it didn’t have the tension or excitement that I would have liked and would have kept me fully engaged. The characters are likable, but their development was minimal, making it hard to fully connect with them. The plot follows a standard “enemies to lovers” romance formula—rivalry, small-town charm, slow realization of attraction, misunderstandings, and an inevitable happily-ever-after—with not many surprises along the way.

Hughes’ writing style is simple and straightforward, making the story an easy read. However, I feel that it could have benefited from more varied and descriptive language to add depth to the characters and setting. While the book delivers a wholesome love story, it leans heavily into the cliché romance structure, which doesn’t make it stand out from others (think Hallmark movie romance).

Overall, “Spring Rain” is a pleasant read for those who enjoy traditional, low-drama romances. It’s sweet and cozy, but if you’re looking for a more dynamic narrative or richly developed characters, this one may fall a bit short.

This is definitely a mood read. You will want to want a hallmark short story about love and flowers! A couple of small places made me think, "Do people talk like this?" But then I was like, yeah, some do. And I went on. I did want a little more of their story, so maybe we will get a book in the future of the love that comes next for them. Or maybe we won't, and it will be a mystery!

This was such a sweet, easy to read short story. While the FMC and MMC were likeable it was the secondary characters (Logan and Sophie) that captured my heart. There were quite a few laugh out loud moments and lots of awww moments in this delightful read.

This novel is comforting, gentle reading experience with relatable characters. The charm lies in the charming small-town settings, strong community dynamics and reminds me of heart warming Hallmark movies.

A great choice for when you want a light, feel-good story without intense drama. I'm thankful for the author, Danielle Hughes and Book Funnel for the advanced copy.

Oh, how I loved this book.

Wow, wow, wow.

Danielle Hughes, you did an incredibly outstanding job on April and Caleb’s story.

This was such a cute, light, sweet, short, and beautiful story.

I was smitten with our main characters from the very start.

The banter, the dislike, the flower theme, the cooperation, the side characters, the tension, the romance, the love… everything was just perfect.

Despite being a short book, there was so much great in this story. A lot was captured in a short amount of time, and I completely loved it.

The writing style was amazing, and the plot was excellent.

I didn’t want the book to end, but when it did, I wanted more of April and Caleb.

It would have been absolutely perfect to get an epilogue, set a few years later, where they’re happily married with a family of their own.

Once again, Daniel Hughes, you did an incredible job with this story.

I’m really looking forward to read more of your work.

Caleb’s family is all about growing beautiful flowers. It’s a legacy. I enjoyed the interaction between his parents- George & Diane, as well as his brothers Nathan & Logan. On market day, Caleb usually runs the market stall and the next stall over is also all about flower arrangements- April Green runs that. The snark between the two of them gives off sparks. The book is funny, fun and sweet and romantic after a lot of misunderstandings. I only gave it 3 stars because I didn’t feel like the characters developed enough until the end. I loved the ending.

April Green loves her job as a florist. She makes all of her bouquets beautiful. She is angry at Caleb Michaels because he always gets to the weekend market first and sets up his stall and leaves his boxes in the way of her stall. There are also other reasons as well. He was charming with customers and pretty much everything about him, could set her off on an angry tangent to her bestie, Sophie. They’ve been each other’s shoulder to cry on since high school, for all of the ups and downs. Caleb’s family owns a flower farm, and his younger brother, Logan is his partner in crime and a riot. lol. Sophie tells April that she got a new client and what he wants for flowers, which she is going to go with April’s shop. April likes Caleb’s other brother, Nathan who is not obnoxious and is awkward but considerate. We meet a bride and groom to be, that love April’s flower arrangements but they can’t afford her prices, so Caleb offers his flowers to bring down the price. April accepts this, but is angry and things are said. I love Caleb’s family. They are so close and loving. Something happens and April is forced to work with Caleb on another job and they spend time together and actually talk. Some of the book is just annoying to me, but the majority of it is a good read. I did enjoy Caleb’s family and the story surrounding the soon to be married couple as well as April & Sophie’s friendship. I look forward to reading Logan’s book.

Tropes: Small Town Romance, Hallmark Movies, Cozy, Florist Shop, Enemies(ish)-to-friends-more, Misunderstandings, Grumpy x Sumshine, Banter, HEA, Rivalry, Slow Realizations, Law of Attraction, Low Drama, Sweet and Cozy, Tension, Dual POV, Clean Romance, and Almost Insta-Love.

Spring Rain is A Seasons Cozy Romance by Danielle Hughes.

April in Bloom has been April Green's life and she's poured her hear and soul into her florist shop. But, the weekend market where she goes to sell her flowers brings her a constant vexation in the form of Caleb Michaels.

Caleb is a fell florist and flower farmer who somehow managed to obtain the stall that April had had her eye on. She had always had a rivalry with Caleb, normally it was built on sharp words and both their stubborn pride.

April is offered the chance to help a young couple with their wedding flower arrangements. But arrangements seem to be falling apart because of the costs she quotes them, Caleb steps in and offers them a lowers cost for the flowers so the April is able to do the arrangements for them.

As Caleb and April work together in order to get the flowers taken care of for the wedding, April also has another contract she has to fulfill and when her normal flower supplier has a disaster and can't fulfill April's flowers, Caleb steps up and saves not only April's business but also her reputation by supplying all the flowers she needed.

Then sudden circumstances see them being forced to work together, and while working together both Caleb and April begin to shift the way in which they see each other and slowly the light in which they see each other changes.

But, another misunderstanding between Caleb and April nearly ends what could have truly been a disastrous for the both of them in the love department. Thankfully they work it all out in the end and the misunderstanding is finally cleared up.

I really enjoyed this novella, it was the perfect definition of a sweet, cozy, Hallmark romance in a novella form. This was a predictable, sweet, and full of all the perfect small town charm you could want. I did find that it moved towards the grumpy x sunshine trope a bit, but I still didn't mind that at all.

I found April to be a little bit too unaccommodating at times but Caleb was on the arrogant side so in a way they kind of balanced each other even though they kept on butting heads. I loved the tropes that Danielle used and found this to be a lighthearted, feel-good love story and when you read a lot of dark reads, this is really a very refreshing read.

I think honestly we could use a little bit more love in this cold world. If you are a reader who loves playful banter, cozy small-town setting, a guaranteed HEA, then this could be your own afternoon escape.

Ooh, this one’s a really quick read! An uncertain romance blooms (hehe) between two rival florists.

It’s really simple to read, and sweet. It has some funny moments. I wish it was meatier though. Some more length would’ve allowed for more character depth. I’d have liked to know Caleb (plus his family) better. The writing style’s also really quick, simple and straightforward. I personally would’ve enjoyed a little more intricacy in the prose.

Altogether, nice, clean read. Fans of grumpy/ sunshine, enemies to lovers clean romance can enjoy this.

Thanks to the author and BookFunnel for the ARC. This is a voluntary review.

They both love working with flowers

A short sweet Hallmark-style romance with enemies-to-lovers, small-town, flowers and love.

April Green loves her florist shop but the weekend market she has a stall at gives her stress, or more the man at the stall next to her does. Caleb Michaels is a flower famer who took her place and always leaves his crates in her space. He's full of charm but she's not won over.

But when she's asked to help with a young couple's wedding she might need his help and working together might help her to see another side to him.

I received this book from the author Danielle Hughes by way of Book Funnel in exchange for an honest review.

This was a short sweet novella that follows April and Caleb. April owns a florist shop and sells her creations at weekend markets. At the stall next to her is her arch rival, Caleb, the flower farmer. When they're forced to work together they start to discover that maybe they have more in common than they think.

This sweet, clean romance is sometimes a little formulaic and predictable but ultimately an enjoyable read - just right for a quick serotonin hit on a wet weekend.
