This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the second book in the Forest Ranger Rescuers series. I have not read the first book in this series before picking up this book. There was a lot of family drama with a ton of secrets being uncovered throughout this book which made me want to keep reading. I enjoyed the connection that the two main characters had, and I loved that the romance was slow going. You could feel the feeling the main characters had throughout this book. I think the cat and the dog brought so much to the story. I really enjoyed reading this book. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

December 9, 2025sarah’s on the run with her son after seeing her husband’s murder—and the situation only gets worse when her son gets abducted. she turns to her husband’s twin brother, tucker, for help, and as they work together to get liam back, they must dodge danger at every turn…
as the story progresses, abducted in the woods proves to be fast-paced and action-packed. there’s always the looming question of what do the bad guys want from sarah, and no one’s really safe until they figure that out. i appreciated how sarah and tucker involve law enforcement in the choices they make; they aren’t just trying to do it all on their own (like some romantic-suspense characters like to do).
now, since this book is romantic suspense… it might seem odd to have a romance between sarah and her brother-in-law, especially with her husband’s loss so recent and tragic. however, the romance is very light. the time they spend together gives them the opportunity to understand what really happened in the past, how those choices led them to the present, and why tucker’s kept his distance for so many years, and though he’s always had feelings for her, he’s determined never to act on them if that’s best. it all felt reasonable to me, given the circumstances.
there is, of course, a nice thread of faith throughout abducted in the woods, too. it offers a good reminder that God’s never too far away, and forgiveness is never out of reach.
all in all, it’s a solid romantic-suspense read from kerry johnson and love inspired suspense. i liked it.
(oh, and it takes place around christmas, but it’s not a christmas book.)

This book has me on the edge of my seat, especially since a child has been kidnapped! It was hard to know who was involved and what their level of involvement was.
Tucker captured my interest as he bravely protected his sister in law and nephew. His selfless care for those around him was so admirable. It was amazing how Sarah could keep fighting off all of the attacks even though her son had been kidnapped.
These stories are somewhat predictable in terms of how the relationships will go but the suspense and mystery held my interest.

This book was amazing, keeping me captivated by the story and the relatable characters. The story begins with Sarah Brindley taking her small son Liam to her aunt’s cottage, having just witnessed the murder of her husband. She has barely taken a sigh of relief when her life is in danger and she has to depend on the help of her husband’s brother, Tucker. Tucker is a realistic character, a flawed human with a hearing problem. But he doesn’t let his disability stop him from being a dedicated forest ranger. When he discovers the trouble that Sarah has inadvertently encountered because of his brother Tanner, Tucker is doggedly determined to help Sarah find out who is behind the threats. First, he has to find out who kidnapped her son and where they have taken him and why they would take a small child. The action is fast-paced as Sarah and Tucker work together to solve the mystery of Tanner’s death and to find Liam. There are unexpected twists and turns with some surprising revelations along the way to a satisfying and brilliantly written conclusion. I found this book informative as I learned about experimental drugs as well as compelling since a small child was kidnapped early in the story and Sarah is an innocent victim, caught up in a web that her deceased husband created. This book is a must read for those who enjoy excellent suspense with a firm faith foundation.

Abducted In the Woods is an extraordinary contemporary novel filled with drama and adventure. I will say that a lot of these short lengh books provide so much moving action that you alnost forget about the short lengh. You really have to admire Sarah trying to move on after the brutal death of her husband only to have her son kidnapped. She is truly a mother to admire.
She teams up with her brother in law Tucker to find her son. From there it is a race to find him and uncover the secrets that her husband was keeping. I will say that Tucker was a very admirable man and it makes me wonder how he ended up with a brother who had so many indiscretions. Overall if you enjoy mysteries this is the book for you!

Abducted in the Woods by Kerry Johnson is a fantastic, fast-paced suspense story. This is easily my favorite novel by Kerry.
Sarah Brindley witnesses a murder - her own husband. The murderer comes after her and kidnaps her son. Tucker Brindley, her brother-in-law, steps in to protect her and help find her son. But there is danger with every turn of the page.
I love the intensity of this story and was hooked from page one. The plot deals with some darker themes, but the author weaves in hope and second chances all throughout. I never thought I was a fan of second chance romance tropes, but I enjoyed the relationship aspects in this novel. The author took a complicated history between two characters and paved the way for them to find a future together. Abducted in the Woods is definitely a book to move up on your "must-read" list.

Abducted in the Woods by Kerry Johnson is the first book I’ve read by her. I was captured by the themes of God’s forgiveness and grace to anyone who is truly repentant of the mistakes or sins in their life. She wrote these truths in such a moving way through this suspenseful, action-packed story. I look forward to more stories from Kerry!!

Such a heart racing book that keeps your heart and mind guessing as to how it will end. It will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat. I find Kerry Johnson to be a talented author that you will want to read again and again. This book is from the Harlequin Love Inspired Suspense series and is scheduled to be released November 25, 2025.

Oh my goodness!! I've read a lot of Ms Johnson's books and she never disapoints me!! Abducted in the Woods is no exception!! I fell in love with this story from the beginning to the end!! I enjoyed reading about Sarah, Tucker and Liam. After witnessing her husband's murder Sarah and Liam flee to her late aunts cottage. Tucker comes back into Sarah's life just in time to protect her from her late husbands past. Danger lurking around every corner, a small amount of romance, emotional, exciting, action packed, heart stopping, heart pounding, sitting on the edge of your seat, Christian suspense!! Definitely all the elements I love reading about!! I couldn't stop reading this awesome story!! A must read for sure!! I was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

Author Kerry Johnson has followed up book one in her 'Forest Ranger Rescuers' series with a finely-crafted suspense story filled with grief, fear, regret, and courage.
Sarah Brindley is trying to pull her life together after her husband, Tanner, is murdered. Her main goal is to keep her young son, Liam, safe from the criminals who killed her husband. She decides to take Liam and hide out in a cottage she inherited from her Aunt Beverly located on the banks of the Alleghany River in Holloway, Pennsylvania.
Her husband's twin brother, Tucker, is a forest ranger in Alleghany National Forest who is willing to lay his life on the line to protect his sister-in-law and nephew. Being around Sarah dredges up many bad memories from when he, Sarah, and Tanner were a busy threesome during the summers at the river.
Tucker's well-trained Belgian Malinois, Onyx, is an integral part of the story. Onyx's amazing skills and loyalty to Tucker were some of my favorite elements in the story.
Throughout the story Sarah doubts who she can trust. Readers are led on a thrilling maze of false clues, deceitful characters, and lies that slowed down the law enforcement team's progress in solving the case. Just when it seems like the team is close to solving the mystery, something else happens—this is essential to a well-written suspense novel in my opinion!
A faith thread is woven throughout the story. The book is completely clean in language and content.

This is the first book I’ve read by Kerry Johnson and I will definitely be following her for more. I was enthralled from the first chapter with the edge of your seat suspense. When Sarah’s son is kidnapped, she teams up with her brother in law and discovers a black market operation that strikes fear in her heart.

Absolutely loved this fast-paced romantic suspense from Kerry Johnson. Right from the start this story sucked me in and had me quickly turning pages to get to the resolution. LOVED that Sarah was a former Olympic swimmer! As a former competitive swimmer myself, I related to all of her analogies and references. It’s a background that doesn’t come up often in fiction I’ve read, so that just made this story extra special to me. There were times my mama heart FELT this story with Sarah’s son being kidnapped! I can’t imagine what she went through, but even though she’s fighting panic she’s so strong holding it together. I really liked Tucker too and it broke my heart the things that Tanner did to him over the years that finally come to light in this story, especially since they were twins. Through it all there's themes of hope and forgiveness that make Christian suspense so enjoyable and uplifting to me! Romantic suspense fans aren't going to want to miss this one- Kerry Johnson is an author to watch!

Just as she gets off of the elevator she sees two men in his office, and they’ve just shot and killed him. She escapes discovery, but she knows she needs to escape town, and danger, with her son, Liam. What she doesn’t know is that she didn’t escape the men’s attention, and danger has followed them straight to her safe place. Liam is abducted, and Sarah teams up with her brother-in-law, Tucker, to find out what is going on and to get Liam back.
From the moment Abducted in the Woods began, I was sucked into the story by the non-stop danger and action! I often make the mistake of starting Love Inspired Suspense books close to bedtime! I know I won’t want to stop reading, but I also won’t be able to stay awake… As it was, I read this book in a night and the next morning. Needless to say, it’s a page-turner.
I love the way that Kerry Johnson makes me feel like I’m right there in the story with the characters. She writes very relatable and realistic characters, so I care about what happens to them. I loved Tucker’s kind, caring personality and Sarah’s tenacity.
The way Johnson weaves a spiritual message into her books in a way that feels natural and not preachy. This story tells of God’s love and forgiveness and that we can always come back to Him. Sarah carried so much guilt which is something so many of us do. We know that God can forgive us and that He has. It’s a matter of us accepting that forgiveness and remembering that nothing can separate us from God’s love.
I highly recommend Abducted in the Woods. I loved this sweet, second-chance romance so much! It’s got a suspenseful plot, non-stop action, and a strong message of forgiveness.

Abducted in the Woods is a fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat ride. The storyline took me through lots of twists and turns. Sarah, dealing with her husband's unexpected death, finds herself hunted and her son Liam kidnapped.
The main characters had many layers. Sarah was strong, despite what was happening. Tucker had strong faith and helped calm and reinforce Sarah's. The ending was surprising as I didn't see it coming, but it wrapped everything up nicely. Lots of suspense, mystery, betrayal, and a sweet romance. Highly recommended.

I fell into this story from the opening pages, and the need to know more kept me on edge throughout Sarah and Tucker’s romance as they search for Sarah’s kidnapped son, Liam.

As she flees with her young son, Liam, to the one place she believed that they would be safe, she has no idea just how deeply her husband’s betrayal would go. I love a good suspense novel. They are unlike anything else. They specialise in keeping you on the edge of your seat and holding on for dear life! Why do I like them? Maybe because secretly I want to solve mysteries and do the dangerous things, but also much prefer to do it through the pages of a book!
Every mother’s worst fear is her child being kidnapped. Yet that’s exactly what Sarah goes through in this novel when her son Liam is kidnapped after she walks in on her husband’s murder.
Now, can we be honest? I have a son named Liam. He’s 9, not 7, like the Liam in the novel, but I can relate to so much of the Liam in the novel. Boys are boys, and yes, they are bottomless pits at different stages in their lives! This is an intense book. Once you start reading, be prepared because you cannot stop. The first line in the book grabs you and sucks you into the rush to escape and be safe.
Sarah and Liam go to her aunt’s cabin when they run from the city. But then Liam is taken, and Sarah must turn to her brother-in-law to come to her rescue and find Liam. But can they? Can they find him? Can they get him back safely? And will they both survive even if they do? Oh, and what about the feelings Sarah finds herself having?
This is an amazing read that I can’t recommend enough!

Every mother’s worst fear is her child being kidnapped. Yet that’s exactly what Sarah goes through in this novel when her son Liam is kidnapped after she walks in on her husband’s murder.
Now, can we be honest? I have a son named Liam. He’s 9, not 7, like the Liam in the novel, but I can relate to so much of the Liam in the novel. Boys are boys, and yes, they are bottomless pits at different stages in their lives! What can I say this book starts with a bang. Right from the first paragraph you can tell there is danger and suspense. Sarah Brindley has just witnessed her husband being murdered and has fled. She's packed up and taken her son Liam and Mr Meow and gone to her Aunt's house in the one place she feels safe. It's here Liam is taken and we meet Tucker her husband's twin brother.
The two work together along with the police department to work out who has Liam and why Sarah is being targeted. There is danger around every corner. Oh and I can't forget Onyx the dog who works with Tucker who along with Mr Meow add to the story. I am surprised either Sarah or Tucker survived all the trials the author put them through. But the main concern was for Liam.
As the story unwinds, we learn more about Tanner (her murdered husband) and what he was like. When they were younger, they first met and Tanner caused some issues between Tucker and Sarah which neither of them realised at the time. It was good to see how caring Tucker is and devoted to his job and protecting Sarah. There are also elements of forgiveness and learning to trust God.
I enjoyed the whole story, from the faith element, suspense side and personal side. It was a satisfying ending, and I do hope this is the end of major trouble for them.
If you enjoy LIS this book won't let you down.

I read this novel in one sitting on a cold winter night, snuggled under warm blankets and a soothing beverage, and Abducted in the Woods was the perfect evening companion. Talk about an intense start! Wow! From the first sentence, I was hooked, and the tension only got tighter from there. Sarah is in a nightmare situation that goes from bad to worse real quick. Luckily, she has Tucker there to be her rock as they get to the bottom of a dire situation that grows more and more twisted.
It is clear that Tucker and Sarah have something special between them. Even in a complex situation, their admiration and respect for one another shine brightly as they fight to find Liam, Sarah’s son, who has been abducted right in front of her eyes. This is every mother’s worst nightmare, and honestly, I feel like Sarah handled it way better than I would. I don’t think I would be able to think clearly, let alone have a coherent conversation while my son is missing.
While there wasn’t one scene that really stood out to me, I did enjoy this suspenseful novel that is engaging and well written. I do wish the epilogue would’ve been a bit meatier and had more details into the why of it all, and a little more romance would’ve been nice, but other than that, this novel is a winner.

This book was intense with a capital I. Sarah has been put through the wringer. She has just lost her husband to murder, one which she witnessed, and now her son has been abducted. The real question that needs to be answered is why was her husband murdered? The answers will not provide comfort.
The author does a great job of building this story while taking a direction that will chill you. There is nowhere safe for Sarah and Tucker. The most important thing for Sarah is finding her son, Liam. She will do anything to save him. She is stronger than she ever through she could be.
The action is pretty much non-stop, and the suspense builds with each chapter as more secrets are revealed, which is why I was glued to the pages.
Sarah has struggled with her faith, but now she finds herself leaning on a faith she had somewhat abandoned, while also finding solace in prayer. Tucker is a very special character in this story. His strong faith helps bolster Sarah in finding her way back. He is determined to keep Sarah safe and bring his nephew back home safely. Both Tucker and Sarah were very likable characters, so it was easy to cheer them on.
This suspense-filled book will capture your attention from the beginning chapters.

The novel opens with Sarah Brindley witnessing her husband’s murder days before Christmas and fleeing town in hopes that she and her son, Liam, will be safe at her aunt’s out-of-the-way cabin in the Pennsylvania wilderness. But, trouble follows them, and Liam is abducted hours after they arrive. Desperate to save her son, Sarah turns to her husband’s twin brother, Forest Ranger Tucker Brindley, for help—as the bullets and attacks keep coming.
Christian readers will enjoy how seamlessly the good news of the gospel is woven amidst the danger that relentlessly stalks the main characters. Personally, I appreciated the reminder that God always answers prayer and that God “works best” in our lives when we face circumstances that cause us to rely on His strength.

Tucker—Tanner’s twin brother, a forest ranger—steps in with his loyal K-9, showing steady courage and truly selfless care as he fights to keep Sarah safe and bring Liam home. The plot delivers murder, mayhem, and kidnapping in quick succession; the villains believe Sarah can help them get something they want, which keeps the pressure high from start to finish. Johnson threads in themes that money and wealth can’t buy happiness, and a strong arc of forgiveness runs through the story—meaningful, if it borders on preachy at times. Most of the suspense comes from the constant threat to Sarah rather than twisty reveals, and seasoned readers may find several turns predictable. Still, the forest setting, the ranger/K-9 details, and Tucker’s unwavering protectiveness make this a fast, emotionally satisfying read for fans of inspirational romantic suspense.

Unfortunately she does not escape danger and the killers now have kidnapped her child. Tucker is Tanner’s twin brother, a forest ranger who comes to his sister in law’s aid along with his loyal K-9, named Onyx. They are involved with some well organized and dangerous killers who will not stop until they get what they want. The story moves at a fast pace with plots of murder, greed, and kidnapping. These ruthless killers believe Sarah can help them find papers vital to pharmaceutical evidence they want which involves a lot of money.
The pressure and pace of the story remains high from page one to the very end, Among all the perilous drama Johnson weaves in inspiration of trust in God in times of trials, as she is in constant prayer for her son.
While quite suspenseful, the twist and turns you may find a bit predictable,
I liked the characters even though we really don’t get much development of who they are. I enjoyed the inclusion of Onyx the K-9 dog and Mr. Meow Liam’s support cat,
If you enjoy reading inspirational romantic suspense give this one a try.

"Abducted in the Woods" is a Christian romantic suspense. Sarah married Tanner even though she liked his fraternal twin, Tucker, better. It seemed like Tucker wasn't interested in her, but now she finds that Tanner told Tucker that she wasn't comfortable around him and to stay away from her. Not to mention, her husband was just murdered because he was involved in something illegal, and the killers think she can help them get something they want.
Sarah liked how Tucker was supportive of her and built her up. Tucker was impressed by Sarah character and beauty. They worked well together as they tried to survive while tracking down her son's location and uncovering what got her husband killed. The main characters were engaging and reacted realistically to events. I cared about what happened to them. The suspense came mainly from the potential danger to Sarah (and her worry for her kidnapped son). The main characters prayed for help. Sarah struggled with viewing God as reliable due to her family relationships. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable story.

Unfortunately, the murderers track her there, attack her, and kidnap her son. Her brother-in-law, Tucker, lives in the area and was checking on a friend's cabin and finds her right after the attack. He then helps law enforcement try to find out why his brother was killed, his nephew abducted, and what the killers want with Sarah.
You have to stretch your imagination a bit and ignore the fact that law enforcement wouldn't let some of the things Tucker and Sarah do happen, but it does provide for nonstop drama so I can easily ignore it.
I enjoyed the faith-based message of the book and loved that law enforcement prayed together at one point in the book.
