Generic, cliche and filled with boring stereotypes. There’s not much of a story here and certainly not enough for 400+ pages. Drake was temperamental, arrogant, ran hot-and-cold almost the whole book, he was oddly possessive and jealous to the point of insecurity. Amelia was weak and naive. Her character had potential but fell flat. Drake continuously treated her like shit and he never had to grovel. When he turned her grief into a pity party for his own issues, I was done. Another forced third act breakup that served no purpose other than to reiterate what a douche the MMC was. The stupid ass twist at 89% made me want to rage.

I’m loving this series. Drake and Amelia had some smoking hot chemistry right from the start. I go absolutely feral for the boss/employee trope, throw in his insane jealousy with her dating anyone else and I’m here for it!! I love the whole James family and I can’t wait for the next book.

I fear that this book brought more anger in me than joy, especially in the second half.
Office romances are one of my favorite tropes, and it did start well. FMC, Amelia, was a decent character, but MMC Drake ohhh, I swear If I could punch him in the face, I would.🫣
For 37 years old, he acted pretty immature and was toxic, and not in an ok way that you sometimes like in the books. Multiple times he would be a total asshole and disrespectful toward her, even though he apparently loved her, when he had a bad day, he would reflect that on her. I didn't really feel his love toward her, I swear he only thought about having sex with her.
I took her back to my penthouse and tucked her up in my bed. For once, neither of us is interested in sex, although I would give her that if she seemed to need it. Right now, though, I’m not sure what she needs. He took her home after they've been in hospital and her mom died btw, how does sex even come to your mind at that moment.💀
And I swear he was thinking about himself and his feelings way too much, for example, her friends came to visit her after her mom's death and he saw that from afar and basically thought omg stupid of me to think that I could help her when she has them, omg maybe she has some other people in her life.🤡
Cherry on top, he multiple times mentioned how his girlfriend left him while he was grieving from his mother's death, and he did the same thing to Amelia, because he thinks he is not good enough for her 👉👈. Yeah why not give a girl more reasons to be sad about.
He probably told himself he was being kind. He’s not. He’s being a coward. This whole thing is about cowardice. At least she could see that.🙄
“He told us to never fall in love. Said that if we obeyed that one rule, we’d never know a day’s heartache in our lives.”
We all fall silent, the easy laughter lost for a moment. “That was fucked up, man,” Mason says, shaking his head.
“Nah.” I down my whisky in one gulp and savor the burn in my throat. “He was one hundred percent right. I shoulda listened to the old man.” this was by the end of the book btw. He has the audacity to say this like she broke his heart, and not the other way around.
Amelia was naive and Idk how and why she fell in love with him and why was one kiss from him enough for her to forgive him for being the asshole.
I could rent about him more but I think even this is a lot. Long story short, this man was really playing with my nerves.😀 I felt like this was a type of story where she is like hopelessly in love and a naive teenager and he just liked her attention and to sleep with her.🤡
I would run so fast in the opposite direction if I met a "man" like this that even Usain Bolt would be impressed.💀

Авторка розтягнула книгу абсолютною водою і багатьма сценами 18+ настільки, що вже в мене все фантомно боліло від цих безкінечних любощів, і я тупо прогортувала сторінки у ці моменти. Ну треба мати міру якусь, а не щоб це виснажувало🫣
Але загалом солодка та гаряча історія про хімію двох незнайомців на одну ніч, що переросло у щось глибше, міцніше та вічне✨

Another wonderful addition to this incredibly raw series. How Sadie Kincaid can give us a MMC with a super grumpy exterior and make us fall so in love with him by the end of each book blows my mind! But once again she does it! 👏👏
Drake was a beautifully broken playboy who kept his distance from everyone who wasn't family. Always down for a good time, but never a long time. Until he meets Amelia, who shakes up his world and has him feeling feelings he never thought he was capable of. Thankfully, it's only for a night, and then they could go their separate ways. Only fate had a much different plan for these two! And what better way to truly shake up Drake's life than to put the temptation right in his path continuously in the one place he thought he was safe. At work.
Unlike Drake's character, I instantly fell in love with Amelia's character. She was so gentle and sweet with a fiery side she kept hidden from the world. She was selflessly caring for her mother after being raised by only her growing up! My heart broke for the battle Amelia faced from the grief she knew was coming when her mother eventually passes. But she was so incredibly strong with how she handled everything she did. Especially Drake's hot and cold personality! Sadie really did such a wonderful job developing her character and who she envisions Drake's HEA with. Because this man needed an Amelia! He needed a woman to come in and shake up his world, proving to him that the heartache that comes with grief is worth it.
The road to the HEA in this book was rough, but so worth it, just like so many of Sadie Kincaid's books are. If you've ever read a Sadie Kincaid book before, you know exactly what I'm talking about. But if you haven't... you need to! Because she's a mastermind!
I'm so excited for the rest of the brothers in this series! Especially Elijah's book, which is up next! I'm so eager to see how Sadie handles his HEA after everything we learned in this book!

Okayyyy, this man was hot as hell. The shibari? The dirty talk.. Wowza. The caring sweetness.. Drake James, Drake James, Drake James. 🤭 On the other hand I'm a big hater of the miscommunication trope. Lol
This book dives deeply into parental loss and it's tough to read as someone who unexpectedly lost a parent at 14. I think the author did a great job putting those indescribable feeling into words. 🥰

This was literally the worst book I have ever read. ZERO STARS. I have so many issues.
You sleep with the guy, promising a one night stand, then you work for him for a bit and decide you’re head over heels in love without so much as a date? God this character is why woman are painted as stage 5 clinger nightmares.
Mi rosa freaking killed me and I literally gagged every time I read it.
Then for literally no reason, she gets abducted!? Sorry? What?
“What happened to you was the kick in the ass I needed” oh okay so you needed your girlfriend to be abducted and beaten for you to realise you loved her didn’t want to be without her? Chriiiiist
Oop and now the MMC is a vicious almost-murderer out of the blue? Okay..
AND EDITH VERONA IS AS BAD AS FREAKING RENESMEE ARE YOU JOKING

Eu adoro de paixão os irmãos James. Adoro que por muito que tentem cumprir o pedido "ridículo" do pai, todos eles falhem redondamente (e graças a Deus por isso) e acabam totalmente perdidos de amores por mulheres incríveis.
O Drake é o irmão do meio e o mais carrancudo e zangado com o mundo e com o amor...entender o porquê disso e vê-lo a aceitar o amor da Amelia é lindo. O crescimento dele é notório e de louvar.
Adorei a Amelia, ela é fenomenal e só me apetecia abraçá-la durante toda a história.
O romance deles é fogo e inegável desde a primeira interacção = são mesmo inevitáveis.
Um aspecto que me surpreendeu foi a relação de amizade entre o Drake e a Amber...ela é a renegada da família e mesmo o próprio marido parece ser-lhe indiferente, estou curiosa para entender o porquê de tal e de apenas o Drake lhe ser fiel. Esse aspeto deu-lhe uma humanidade lindíssima.
Posto isto...venha o próximo volume ❤️

I always thoroughly enjoy Sadie Kincaid's books, and this one was no exception! Drake was a lot of fun, even if there were moments where his frustrating behavior was almost a bit too much to handle. There were also points where Amelia's willingness to forgive him so quickly grated on my nerves (or maybe I’m just petty!), but regardless, I am so glad everything worked out for them in the end.
I am definitely excited to dive into Elijah's book next! I keep swinging back and forth between whether I want him to work things out with his wife or if I want to see him find love with someone completely new. Either way, I can't wait to see what happens!

A delicious slow burn that starts with fake names, a one night stand and a match made in exploding donuts heaven.
Sadie Kincaid wrote an emotional story that was both thought-provoking, humorous and spicy. Five stars isn't enough to express how much I loved this book.

Receiving the Promise Me Forever ARC was a great way to start my 2025 reading journey. Thank you Sadie Kincaid and your team for giving me the opportunity to read book 2 in the Manhattan Ruthless series and leave my honest review.
Sadie Kincaid certainly knows how to set the stage, and keep you wanting more. Amelia and Drake's story started with a bang, and kept me invested the entire time. I kept telling myself one more chapter, and before I knew it I was 50% complete and it was tomorrow 🤣.
"God, he is so damn tall. I could climb him like a tree." Yesss girl I do like me a good tree 🤭.

Amelia is a character I connected with on a spiritual level, and I enjoyed reading her story. Plus she's a fellow Virgo, so she automatically was going to be a favorite of mine. I related to her wanting to feel useful, struggling to put herself first and having body image issues, while not necessarily hating her body. Being an only child as well, I saw a lot of myself in Amelia, and was very much invested in the character. Now I hope I also find myself a sexy batman!
Amelia said it best Drake's dirty talk had me "melting like chocolate in the sun". And yet another Sadie MMC that's going on my ever growing book boyfriend list. However Drake easily is towards the top, right there with his brother Nathan.

Drake's reflection on grief earns Promise Me Forever a spot on my hopeless romantic therapist's dream list. It was spot on and relatable. Grief has no timeline and it's a sneaky beast.
Drake and Amelia are such a great couple. They helped heal the worst in each other, while bringing out the best parts. I laughed and cried throughout this story. And it's a book I know I'll think about for the rest of the year, and look forward to reading over and over again.
The cameos and double epilogues chef's kiss!
I'm patiently (but not very well) awaiting Elijah's book, April seems like a lifetime away 🤧! But plenty of time to mentally prepare myself for what I know is going to make me emotional.

Receiving the Promise Me Forever ARC was a great way to start my 2025 reading journey. Thank you Sadie Kincaid and your team for giving me the opportunity to read book 2 in the Manhattan Ruthless series and leave my honest review.
Sadie Kincaid certainly knows how to set the stage, and keep you wanting more. Amelia and Drake's story started with a bang, and kept me invested the entire time. I kept telling myself one more chapter, and before I knew it I was 50% complete and it was tomorrow 🤣.

Gostei, mas gostei mais do primeiro 👀
Este livro foca bastante o tema do luto, como a perda de alguém próximo de nós muda a nossa essência. Este é o tema que ambas personagens lidam na sua base. O Drake perdeu a mae ainda jovem, após a ver perder uma batalha contra a doença. A mae da Amélia, desaparece um pouco todos os dias.
Confesso que gostei mais dos personagens no ínicio da história, a Amelia estava a descobrir quem era pós um divorcio e o Drake estava finalmente a voltar o seu coração bater por alguém. O romance deles foi fofo, mas bastante previsível.
A meu ver houve dois problemas que não me deixam dar mais a este livro, o pacing e a evolução das personagens ao longo da narrativa. A nível de pacing, adorei o inicio mas chateia as ideias repetitivas em todos os santos capítulos, principalmente nos do Drake. A evolução da Amélia não correu como pensava, achei que no final ia saber dar valor a si própria mas parece que virou ainda mais inocente que a versao dela de início do livro. Ela abre a história a fingir ser algúem melhor do que é e assumi que ela fosse terminar nessa versão, mas acabei um pouco desiludida com o seu final.
A autora sabe o que faz neste livros, ao abordar temas humanos, que todos os leitores vão sempre sentir que se podem relacionar. Esta história mostra como o amor, pode surgir do nada e ficar para sempre.

The banter and tension between these two were absolutely off the charts. Their chemistry was unmatched and I was dyinggggg for them to finally find their way back to one another. Both of these broken people deserved so much love and when they finally were able to put their BS aside and be that for one another it was perfection. While I was ready to throw my kindle a couple times I was also on the edge of my seat and absolutely ROOTING for both Nathan and Amelia. I loved their love.

An enjoyable read, especially if you’re looking for a dark billionaire romance. I appreciated that the book didn’t rely heavily on explicit content, though when it did appear, it was certainly very explicit. The miscommunication trope is something that always gets me—it can be frustrating, but it did serve to increase the tension and drama in the story.
Overall, it was a great break from my usual fantasy reads. The characters were engaging, and while I wouldn’t say it’s a standout, it definitely served its purpose as a quick, steamy escape.

Drake’s whole character arc? PERFECTION. Watching him go from not giving a damn about anyone to being absolutely all-in for Amelia was everything. Like, the man had me swooning so hard!💖
Amelia’s innocence and her relatable insecurities made her feel so authentic, like someone you’d want to be best friends with.
Now let’s talk about the SPICE. 🔥 It’s Sadie, so you know it’s going to deliver, but this? This was NEXT LEVEL. Let’s just say…I learned a few things, and I am not complaining. 😂

This story absolutely intrigued me, captured my mind from the first page to the last. It was an easy read, well paced with characters I instantly missed as soon as I finished the book.
I loved the dynamic and chemistry between Drake and Amelia. And even though Drake has lots of red flags they are also kind of green.
And I finally read a book where they practice Shibari. I only wish they were more scenes with it.

Gostei deste livro e adorei voltar a acompanhar os irmãos James!! O Drake e a Amelia têm uma química muito boa desde o início e gostei de os ver a enfrentar os seus medos, a lidaram ambos com o luto à sua maneira e o peso do passado enquanto tentavam construir algo juntos 🤍
No entanto, senti que faltou um bocadinho de comunicação entre os dois, o que acabou por prolongar alguns conflitos, e houve momentos em que senti a história um pouco parada. Ainda assim o plot foi bom, a escrita da Sadie continua super viciante e fez com que lesse muito bem este livro 🙂↕️
No final, fiquei de coração cheio por eles... mas, acima de tudo, estou completamente ansiosa pelo livro do próximo irmão... Elijah e Amber preciso de saber sobre vocês 😩

I am a massive fan of Sadie’ books and each time there is a new one i binge read 😂 I was so excited for the next book in this series and it didn’t disappoint. I loved drake! Another brilliant sexy book from the Queen of spicy romance!

It’s was an okay read, but it didn’t fully pull me in. The boss/employee romance had its moments, and Drake’s jealousy definitely added some drama. 🔥 The James family was a great addition, and I liked their dynamic. 👏🏼
The miscommunication trope, though? 😩 It dragged a bit too much for me. The steamy moments were definitely there 🔥, but overall, it felt more like a quick, enjoyable escape rather than a book I’d come back to.
That said, I’m still looking forward to Elijah’s book—hopefully, that one brings more to the table! 🤞🏼

I’m still torn on a 4 or 5.
I really did enjoy him and his mouth but I knew immediately how the storyline would go once I got 50%. I was right so for that reason I felt it was a little predictable.
I had 2/3 issues with him and in real life would be red flags but well he was still a good guy and OBBESSED with her.
I’ve really enjoyed this series and LL forward to next brother!

You know, I wasn't planning to rate Promise Me Forever. I read it as a bit of a palate cleanser in between the reams of fantasy I usually read. It goes on forever and I found it tedious, as I tend to find contemporary, but the grammar and syntax are decent and I thought it might just be a me problem.
I'm not sure that's actually true though. Apart from the usual idiocy, some completely left field things happened that felt entirely misplaced. And by things, I mean our very own moustache-twirling villain. And Drake's reaction... wtaf? How bizarre.
Otherwise, this was the usual meet-cute - orgasms - characters ditch their values for more orgasms - forevvverrr. It's unbelievable.
Oh - and being the biggest out of two is really not that impressive.

This one missed the mark - I’m hoping it’s just a coincidence or perhaps the storyline was just not relatable for me. I don’t know. I love Sadie’s other books and I liked Nathan’s but this one, sort, was just a bit of a flop for me. It’s like it lacked something, then the twist towards the end… no build up, came out of nowhere so it fell really disconnected from the little bit of a storyline it had going on.
