You can’t keep a sizzling little secret in a town like Peachtree Cove…
For a place that just won an award for Best Small Town, Peachtree Cove sure has a big rumor mill. And Tracey Thompson is tired of being at the center of it. She’s worked hard to make her bed-and-breakfast a success—only to have her soon-to-be ex’s very public affair with her business partner result in a shocking pregnancy…and the biggest scandal around.
If the whole town is going to talk no matter what she does, maybe it’s time that Tracey stopped trying to be perfect. Maybe she should start doing things for herself—like having a little fun. And Brian Nelson, the sexy nursery owner who supplies plants for all her special events, is more than willing to help.
Slow burn acquaintances to friends to lovers with truly AWFUL exes on both sides providing plenty of drama! I'm not convinced "frenemies" is accurate here but I enjoyed the story.
Tracy runs a bed & breakfast in a small town and is just finalizing a nasty divorce, complete with a pregnant mistress who was her former employee. Brian owns the local plant nursery and has been divorced for a few years, but while his cheating ex is re-married, she's trying to reinsert herself into his life. To prove a point, Tracy decides to look for a hook up and reawaken her sexuality, but Brian offers a no-strings attached deal with himself instead. Even if he is definitely becoming attached...
This is a great pick if you like messy external conflict with a couple doing a decent job with each other. Even if they're working on their communication. The audio narration is really good! I received an audio review copy via NetGalley, all opinions are my own.
Adenrele Ojo is back and killing it as usual with the narration. In this one we follow Tracey who we've seen glimpses of in the other books and in the short story. In this book we're following Tracey after he divorce has been finalized with her no good cheating husband. After years of putting her ex's pleasure before her own Tracey is finally trying to live life and get hers. She's taking a course at the local college to help expand her business, she's switching up her hair, and she's entering a friends with benefits situationship with the very sexy Brian. Brian is fresh out of his own bad marriage also filled with cheating and lies. Though his ex and her drama seems to linger despite the number of times he's tried to shake her off. He's been crushing on Tracey since high school and now that they're both single he'd love to make a move but he doesn't want to rush her.
This had everything I love in a Synithia Williams book. It has messy family dynamics, Southern small town goodness, and grown folks romance.
I think this book forgot to include the frenemies part of the story. Far as I could tell they were friendly associates that worked together. This is a small town southern romance so that means there are a lot of people in this story and they are all in everybody’s business. The only thing about this story I did not like is that Tracey’s father was demanding that since he was accepting the cuckolding in his marriage that his daughter should also be in hers. If you like a cute small town romance then I recommend this book.
Small town romance friends with benefits ?👀 this was my favorite from the series ! I just wish it had more of the “frenemies” aspect throughout the book
This was the Arc for the audio so honest review. The narrators voice threw me off this book. I’m not sure of the range of voices that was tried to characterize the characters or the goal which was intended. I believe the southern accent was the goal while it was southern it was off. Based off the cover of the book and guessing the supposed age range I believed they were suppose to be. It did not match. The FMC and MMC sounded as if they were in their 50s and 60s with the parents still running around like teenagers. I was confused many times when the characters switched because the narrators voice didn’t change, everyone sounded the same. The only part of the narrators voice I liked was when she was reading the narration part of the story, she could have used her normal voice for Tracy and possibly gotten a male voice for Brian. I think the story itself was pretty good if I read it to myself in my head. The drama was there and I like the way the story went. Tracy daddy and mama pissed me off but it was so good.
This is the third book in this series. While I haven’t read the previous books, I didn’t feel lost in this third installment. The author did a good job allowing this to be read as a standalone. I loved the small town this story is set in. It gave off all the cozy, Hallmark movie type vibes.
This was a slow burn romance story where acquaintances became lovers. The pacing of the story was good as we got to learn more about these friends who become lovers. Tracey is recently divorced and Brian has had a crush on her. Is he the perfect man to help Tracey on her healing journey? I really enjoyed this audiobook, and found myself smiling at various parts. The narrator did a great job bringing Tracey to life.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.
Special thanks to the author & @canarystreetpress @harpercollins for my gifted copy‼️
Book 3 in the Peachtree Cove series did not disappoint it was a cute and cozy small town romance. I haven’t read the first 2 books yet but if they’re coming like this one I can’t wait.
Tracey Thompson was the owner of the towns local Bed & Breakfast and while things might seem perfect on the outside. Mentally things are falling apart all around her. From dealing with terrible employees, a nasty divorce due to a cheating spouse, a loveless love life, and parents who just can’t get it together Tracey can’t catch a break. But on the upside she still has long time friend Brian who deep down she’s madly attracted to but is too afraid to act on anything. When he agrees to help her out with a wedding their close proximity causes sparks to fly and what should’ve been business only turned into back breaking pleasure with no-strings attached. But we all know how that goes!
This book was so messy I don’t know where to begin. It was funny how they were both dealing with failed marriages from two exes who strung them along at their expense. Tracey’s ex-husband was trifling for EVERYTHING he did and the nerve of her father for recommending she make things work with that man. Brian’s ex-wife was delusional and refused to let go. She annoyed me so bad and so did his mother.
Overall, the book was good but the pacing was a little slow for my liking. The author went heavy on the family and relationship drama which kept me engaged. The characters are likable and the interactions with Tracey’s friends are funny and wholesome. The story was an even balance of humor, romance, a little steamy, and drama‼️ It can be read as a standalone so if it’s been on your TBR here’s your green light to read it.
This is the third book in the Peachtree Cove series. I highly recommend reading the series in order for the best experience.
Like the first two books in this series the pacing is great, the small town setting works well, the supporting characters are interesting, and the story has depth and heart. This installment focuses on Tracey and Brian who are prickly, sarcastic, and perfect main characters for this enemies to friends to lovers story. I enjoyed learning about their back stories and watching them fall into each other.
I definitely recommend.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This book is narrated by one of my narrators, Adenrele Ojo. Ms. Ojo's narration brought Tracey to life. Plus, this featured antics by both partners' exes, and the narration of these scenes was chef's kiss. I highly encourage consuming this on audio.
While this is the 3rd book in the Peachtree Cove romance series, I have not read any of the previous novels or short stories in this series. I enjoyed the town and the characters so much that I've added the first novel in this series to my to be read list. I had no trouble keeping up with the story, so I feel like this is fine to read as a stand-alone novel on its own.
This is a cozy, slow-build style romance story. Featuring a 'friends-with-benefits' style love story more than a frenemy to lovers tale. This focused on healing from past relationships, especially dealing with infidelity and learning to trust in love again. With a slight touch of a Hallmark channel-esque small town full of cozy characters.
Tracey felt relatable in her journey to change her life after her troubled marriage. Brian felt like a safe, sexy and healing companion for Tracey's journey. This had a few standard romance tropes that I found grating. Overall, the relationship felt organic and had a nice bite of spice. This is a perfect, feel-good Valentines Day novel.
Thank you to Synithia Williams, Harlequin Audio, and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to and review this audiobook. All opinions and viewpoints expressed in this review are my own.
A small town friends with benefits romance between a recently divorced Black woman and the man who's had a crush for years. This was spicy, emotional and full of small town Southern Charm. Perfect for fans of authors like Talia Hibbert or Preslaysa Williams. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital and audio copy in exchange for my honest review!
This title definitely should have been Friends with Benefits because I never got that the two main characters were ever enemies. But due to the other drama they both had going on I did get the angst of a true enemies to lovers story. Enjoyed this one!
The third of the series. It was cute little romance. I’m so glad I finished this series. A small town love story with its bumps along the way that will make you smile all while making you realize that some of the stuff happens to so many of us.
Is the old adage, “The quickest way to get over a man is to get under a new one?” really true? That’s what the “new” Tracey is ready to find out after finally closing the door on her failed marriage. Surprisingly, she just might discover the truth in this saying from an unexpected source!
When Brian returns to Peachtree Cove post-divorce, he's determined to avoid anything resembling monogamy or commitment. But everything changes after a conversation with Tracey sparks a bold plan.
Get ready for the rollercoaster of emotions in **Frenemies with Benefits**, the third installment of the Peachtree Cove series! Synithia Williams did her big one with this. Don’t miss out—add it to your TBR right now!
Thank you so much to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this one! I am a huge fan of Synithia and the happenings of Peachtree Cove! I could not wait to get my hands on this one and get to know Tracey and Brian.
This was the perfect and most realistic slow burn enemies to lovers I've ever read. I really liked both of the main characters a lot. I also felt like the conflicts in the story made sense and were believable! I feel like the pacing worked well for me and getting to know their backstories helped tremendously - I am one of those nosy readers who want to know *ALL* the lore behind characters. I was not sure how I felt about Brian in the previous books, but babyyyy he definitely redeemed himself for me and was the perfect gentlemen and friend - inside and outside of the bedroom.
Honestly, I think what was the most meaningful take away from this book and story for me, is that it is never too late to start again and reinvent yourself. One thing that Tracey and I have in common is that we both kinda got stuck in one version of ourselves, and then one day, an inflection point changed everything. I also loved how realistic it was about how hard it is to beat old habits, especially habits of being one version of yourself for so long. I loved that Tracey had her friends supporting her along the way too. That was beautiful, we all need people in our lives to remind of us who we really are, not just who we are pretending to be.
My only qualm is that I wish Brian and Tracey got a little more story time to just be blissfully a couple, without all the drama that they were experiencing.
Overall, I would recommend this book to folks looking for small town, Black romance with a strong and vulnerable fmc and a mmc who is able to be firm and strong for her in all the best ways.
This was such a heartwarming small town romance! I loved how the story explored the importance of setting boundaries with family, and it also offered a beautiful second chance love story. Both of their exes really got under my skin throughout the book, and Brian’s mom, while well-intentioned, made some questionable choices that left me feeling frustrated. Still, I get that she was trying to be helpful and a good person.
The dynamic with Brian’s ex and Tracey’s family added layers of tragedy and toxicity to the story. Tracey’s determination not to end up like her parents was heartbreaking and really drove her decisions in her previous marriage. But I’m so happy to see her find her own voice, regain her confidence, and realize she deserved someone who truly loved and supported her.
What I loved most about this story was how both Brian and Tracey discovered they were worthy of love, support, and a real partnership. Watching them become that for each other was so beautiful. This was a gorgeous, feel good read, and now I’m eager to dive into the first two books as well!
I thought this was a cute love story where the characters needed a little nudge to get to where they needed to be. Nothing travels faster than a gossip/rumors good or bad. Sometimes you just have to buckle up for the ride and give them something to talk about.
Thank you to the author and NetGalley for gifting me this book in exchange for my honest review
In Synithia Williams’ Frenemies with Benefits, Peachtree Cove bed-and-breakfast/inn owner Tracey Thomspon stops trying to be perfect and doing what’s expected of her all the time and starts doing things to make herself happy after her soon to be ex’s public affair with her business partner results in an unexpected pregnancy drags her into the spotlight/rumor mill, yet again. Nursery owner Brian Nelson is more than happy to help her out, and they become friends-with-benefits that inevitably become more.
William’s vibrant, descriptive, and down-to-earth writing flows from one moment to the next. She develops her likable, relatable, complex, fallible, and fascinating characters through funny, sweet, sexy and snarky banter and intensely emotional and steamy interactions and love scenes. Her use of the character’s senses and natural-sounding colorful dialogue that fits her characters and her southern setting adds layers to her narrative, character development, and world-building that draws you in and makes this a page-turner.
Tracey’s intelligent, sassy, and speaks her mind. Her mother and father have fueled the town’s gossip and rumor mill all her life. They didn’t expect Tracey’s marriage to last and have expected the worst from her, too. She’s focused her energy, however, on making her dream of owning a B&B come true, and making it successful. Now, thanks to her ex, Tracey’s back at the center of a public scandal. She’s tired of it. If people are going to gossip about her anyway, Tracey’s ready to have some fun and give them something to gossip about.
Dependable, sweet, cool, and sexy, Brian’s divorced and living his best life, running his plant nursery, and avoiding serious relationships. He’s always found Tracey sexy, and interesting—even in high school, he had his eye on her. Unfortunately, like Tracey, he can’t seem to escape his ex-wife and her drama-filled life.
Williams develops their relationship from high school classmates, to frenemies, to business acquaintances, to friends, to lovers to more with a lovely balance of humor, heat, and emotion. I love their snarky banter and sweet, steamy, funny, sexy, and intimate interactions and love scenes. They are adorable and funny. Brian’s and Tracey’s conversations are so open and honest, except for their deeper feelings for one another. They lead to them becoming friends as they talk, share their life experiences and past, and get to know each other better. I especially love the way he takes care of her and looks out for her, though she’s unaware of it.
Although Tracey knows Brian doesn’t revel in her mistakes and messy life, it drives her crazy that, since high school, he’s always been the one that’s been there for the most embarrassing moments of her life. And he loves offering her unsolicited advice that she ignores. Especially since Tracey had a crush on him in high school and still finds Brian irresistibly attractive. That’s why she loves to push his buttons, making him lose his ever-present cool. But Brian’s had her back when she needs help with plants and florals for her events, and he’s never let Tracey down.
Frenemies with Benefits is a sweet, steamy, funny, sexy, emotional, and fast-paced romance perfect for friends-with-benefit, friends-to-lovers, secret crush, Black love/friendship, B&B, and small-town romance fans.
Canary Street Press provided an advanced review copy via Netgalley for review.
This title is false advertising. Just know that going in and you'll enjoy yourself more.
Tracey Thompson is starting over. Her soon-to-be ex-husband had an affair with her right hand employee at work, her parents are a mess and her business is on the brink of expansion. It's time for her to make a change and that starts with putting herself and her business first for the first time in over a decade. Tracey has known Brian Nelson since high school and now he owns the local plant nursery. Tracey has to work with him all the time on events at her inn and he always seems to be around when her life is exploding. But it turns out that Brian really respects Tracey, like her. If she's just looking to have a little fun, could Brian be a friend with benefits?
So like I said, the title of this book has no bearing on the story. Tracey and Brian are not frenemies at any point. Tracey feels embarrassed because Brian always seems to be around when things are blowing up and Brian thinks that Tracey needs to make some changes in her life but they're not enemies by any stretch of the imagination. This is a classic friends-to-lovers with a pit stop in FWB territory. Know that going in and you'll enjoy the book much more.
Tracey is a heroine you can root for. She has been through it with her shitty ex-husband and she's trying her best to move on but it's like the town won't let her. She grew up in Peachtree Cove with some fairly notorious parents and it seems like everyone has an opinion about how she should behave. This is a story of her figuring out what she actually wants, without factoring in everyone elses' opinions, and going after it. I really enjoyed her growth arc.
Brian has his own messy past with a toxic ex-wife who won't leave him alone and a mother who can't leave well enough alone. But he's fundamentally a good man who shows up for his friends and family. I wasn't as taken with his story as I was with Tracey's– she's the star of this book– but I still liked it.
The spice in this book was very well done. Synithia Williams knew what she was doing in those scenes, especially when it came to describing the emotional intimacy. Tracey is very nervous about being with someone new after over 10 years with her husband and Synithia leaned into that. I liked that it felt like a real reaction.
Overall, I really liked this book. Once I understood this was not an enemies-to-lovers I was able to relax into the story and enjoy it. 4 stars.
I was drawn to this book by the title and the description; however, this book was more than just a frenemy with benefits situation. Bernard cheating on Tracey and getting her business partner pregnant was just the fuel she needed to throw on the first that had already been growing for her to finally leave the toxic marriage she was in. Once the divorce was finalized she was able to become the "new Tracey" and do things she would never have done in her marriage to satisfy Bernard. While she viewed Brian as a frenemy and someone who was always there to witness her downfalls and embarrassing moments, he viewed her as someone who was strong and didn't put up with anyone's mess.
The title of the book was a little deceiving as the "frenemies with benefits" aspect of the book did not seem to carry through as when the arrangement finally did occur in the book it wasn't really mentioned all the often. The focus seemed to be more on Tracey and her trying to expand her business and build her self-esteem. While I appreciated the way Tracey came out her shell and started living for herself including expanding her business, the constant mention of her self-doubt and insecurities because of Bernard and her past became repetitive and a little annoying.
I enjoyed Brian and Tracey's relationship with each other and how he showed her the right way to be treated in a relationship that neither of them thought they wanted, but I felt the reminders of their exes or the outside people trying to get them back together with them wasn't necessary. Also her parents' situation in the book was talked about too much for me and it took a little away from her and Brian's storyline. I did appreciate how both of them had good friends in their corners though.
Overall, it was a decent read for me but it could have been more enjoyable if it were structured differently like with some more timelines and if it had less repetitiveness. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Harlequin Trade Publishing for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
This friends to lovers story had me blushing and smiling at the pages. In this story, we meet Brian and Tracey, who were childhood friends, and are now business associates, back in their home town. They both have awful exes, and are initially unenthused about the idea of putting their hearts back out into the dating world. Thankfully, they are able to work through the toxic experiences of their lives and consider pursuing a crush they've both unknowingly had on each other since childhood. I loved the connection between Brian and Tracey from the beginning to end of this novel. The evolution of their relationship was very beautiful to watch. Even though this was the first book I read in the series, I didn't feel like I was lost or missing anything. The characters were well thought out and alive on each page. The side characters were also entertaining and felt developed. I loved the way Brian cared for Tracey and had her back regardless of who he had to stand up too. I loved his patience, care, and reassurances to her. Even though they had been friends for a long time, Tracey was able to fully bloom within their new relationship while still having space to reassert her own identity. I loved that Tracey reclaimed herself, and didn't allow the naysayers to keep her trapped in a horrible situation. She chose herself and I loved that for her. I especially enjoyed that Brian and Tracey handled their conversations with so much maturity, and there was no ridiculous third act breakup. I was fortunate to enjoy an immersive reading experience by listening to the audio narration along with the e-book, and I must say that Adenrele Ojo did a fantastic job. The accent and voice interpretations were very well done and really suited the characters of the story being told. I will definitely read more of this authors work.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for providing and arc of this novel.
SPOILERS! The Peachtree Cove covers are gorgeous but this third book left me frustrated. Even though I usually love Synithia Williams's work, Frenemies with Benefits had problems I couldn't ignore.
The title makes no sense. Tracey and Brian were never enemies. This is a straight friends to lovers story that uses a friends with benefits setup (my least fave trople bc it never works for me). They have an FWB arrangement but they agree to be exclusive (Why?, they're not dating), they leave weekends open (why, they’re exclusive?) and when they get together he has a sweet romantic evening set up. They’re DATING. Brian slid in under the pretense of friendship to get close and convince Tracy they should date.
Hate it every time.
The pacing was rough. We jumped from their first night together to full intimacy to relationship problems without more than a few scenes of them happy as a couple. We needed those moments to make the later conflict matter.
I had to DNF the audiobook. Adenrele Ojo usually delivers but her southern accent here was terrible. I switched to the ebook to finish.
What brought my rating back up was the sheer messiness of the secondary characters. The meddling parents and ex-spouses created enough drama to make up for the other issues. Williams knows how to write complicated family dynamics that keep you invested.
She got a lot right: moving on after divorce, authentic small-town life, solid friendships, and Tracy and Brian's character arcs. She understands how family patterns and past relationships shape how we approach love.
I love Williams's books but I'm not sure I'll continue with Peachtree Cove, no matter how stunning those covers are. The series isn't embedding itself in my heart the way her other series have.
3.5 stars, rounded down to 3 for the narration problems and missed opportunities in the romance.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the audio ARC. Glad I could switch to the ebook when the audio didn't work out.

Audiobook Review: Frenemies with Benefits by Synithia Williams ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (3.5/5)
This was a cute, lighthearted read—perfect as a fun palette cleanser. I was a little hesitant since it’s the third book in a series, but I had no problem following along. The story stands well on its own, and the small-town drama kept things interesting.
One of the biggest highlights for me was the audiobook narrator. She absolutely nailed the vibe of the female lead, bringing the story to life in a way that made it even more enjoyable. I’ve listened to her narrate other books before, so I knew she’d deliver, and she didn’t disappoint.
That said, the story itself fell a little flat. It was entertaining, but it lacked the extra spark that would’ve made it a five-star read. The title also didn’t quite match the storyline—while the main characters had a “friends with benefits” situation, I didn’t really see the “frenemies” aspect come into play. If anything, the tension felt pretty one-sided.
Overall, this is a solid, medium-paced read that’s easy to follow and enjoyable enough for a quick escape. I’d recommend it as a good beach read or something light to break up heavier books. And while this one didn’t fully wow me, I’d still pick up another book from Synithia Williams in the future.
Disclosure: Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the audiobook. All opinions are my own.
Have you ever read a book that you knew immediately would be your vibe?? I'm here to tell you that Frenemies with Benefits gave me those vibes at 4%. The banter and the chemistry between Tracy and Brian was undeniable. Early on, I had a strong feeling that they would be solid despite the chaos that surrounded them.
Frenemies with Benefits is the third release in the Peachtree Cove Series, but can be read as a standalone. As a new reader in this series, I appreciate the ease in which this small town romance brought me in. I immediately felt connected to the town and it's gossip, especially since a lot of it centered Tracey, Brian and both of their ex-spouses. Given the title you'd think that part of the drama was an issue between our two main characters but the title is misleading. These two are legit friends with hidden benefits.... and I say that because this is a fade to black romance!
If you like a small town romance where the hero falls first but plays his role until the heroine is ready... Check this one out!
First I have to say that I really enjoyed the narrator’s performance. Whenever I read a book and it’s a southern accent I always fall in love with it 😭 and it was only about halfway through that I realised that Adenrele Ojo was not reading with anyone else, literally just herself.
That aside, I really did like this story. Realistically if I was in Tracey’s position I probably would’ve done the same thing too. But then I felt like it was dragging on for their big ages. A man constantly friendzoning you when you’re like mid 30s seems like hell. Keep that love away from me 🫶🏾
Besides that, this book makes me a bit more interested in reading the first 2 because I didn’t even realize this was a book 3.
~
Thanks to Harlequin Audio via NetGalley for this ALC in exchange for an honest review.
I might have enjoyed this book more if I didn’t listen to the audio. The narrator was awful! The forced “southern” accent was so bad that I wasn’t sure I would even finish the book. My second issue with the book is given the name “Frenemies with Benefits” leads one to assume there will be lots of 🌶️ but they were mostly closed door scenes. The drama was definitely there for both main characters which helped keep me engaged in the story. I’d hoped that by the end they would stop using the term “gentleman caller”🙄 but maybe that’s just me.
Frenemies With Benefits by Synithia Williams is the perfect second chance romance set in adorable small town Georgia. The narrator perfectly brings to life the southern accents that you would expect to hear in a small town in Georgia and does such a phenomenal job of bringing Synithia William’s book to life for the listener. Our FMC Tracy is a business woman who through good fortune and smart decision making is successfully running a cozy B&B. However, her personal life is on life support since her ex-husband took a chain saw to their relationship. I will spare you the details, but there is some serious drama with all the exes that appear in this book. As her marriage ends, Tracy decides to embark on a journey to truly discover herself in every aspect. Her friend Brian understands the assignment and starts to help her learn more about so many aspects of herself. Trust me, this is an exploration that you will want to go.

Thank you to Netgalley and Harlequin Audio for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.
If you are into small town/hallmark type of books, then I think you’ll love this!
I love seeing a woman step into her own, but especially after a messy divorce. Tracy does just that and I was proud of her!
Ryan is your typical sweet guy who will do anything for the woman he cares about.
I think the audiobook was done well, but I do feel like the narration was a little overdone on the country accent or maybe I just feel that way because of wheee I live 😂
Thank you NetGalley for the audio arc in exchange for my honest review!
What a brilliant addition to the Peachtree Cove series!! Its wonderful to see Tracey find her way through the heartache and pain and anger, to see her grow and reach. And this gentleman caller is so dreamy - he may have been a bit of a ladies man but hes also solid and kind and giving and such a good friend. I loved this book!!!
