I was very hopeful to like this sequel by Sarah Monzon.
It follows a librarian who takes a bookmobile to a small town with no access to a library and the mechanic who helps fix it when it breaks down outside the town.
I loved this set up so much. The cover, the premise, and the assumption that another year of writing practice would make a stronger romance story all gave me hope that I could like this better than the first book, An Overdue Match.
Unfortunately, most of the execution did not work for me. I think the plot and story structure are solid, but the character development and romance are not at the same quality.
Again, plot structure was good and no third act breakup was appreciated. There was unique representation for both characters. Hayley had a liver transplant and Levi had a sensory disorder.
Here is a list of things that didn't work for me and I hope can be constructive feedback.
1. The name given to the bookmobile was strange and could have been so much cuter. It is too close to an inappropriate word. How about Doug, like Doug the dog from UP.
2. The initial meeting of Hayley and Levi was a bunch of lines about how physically attractive they both were and it was too much. It was objectifying and unnecessary. He was SO big and she was SO small. Nuh uh. There's more ways to describe a first meeting.
3. The dialogue was so cringey between these two most of the time. She treated him like a child by babying him but also calling him “big guy”. That grossed me out. How is calling him big guy multiple times romantic? It came across as disrespectful. I think the intention was to show her care for him and his disorder but it just didn’t work for me.
4. There is a scene during a storm that was SO awkward and weird and slightly inappropriate and something I’d expect to see in a steamy or dark romance that I had to stop reading. I know it’s supposed to be innocent but adults doing this? During a storm on a bed? No no no.
5. I felt that the physical connection (attraction and kisses) was the stronger thing drawing these characters together rather than an emotional connection. They did talk and express their feelings but the way they did it was immature and cringey in my opinion. The writing wasn’t strong enough to show high quality relational growth between them.
That’s all. There are a few mentions of God but little to no explicit faith content.
I’m assuming that my issues are over things meant to be innocent but the writing made them come across as not.
I’ve seen high praise for this book in other reviews. I hope the people who read this book enjoy it but it wasn’t for me. I won’t be reading anymore books by this author unless a trusted reviewer tells me good things about her future stories.

This is a tough book for me to review. There was some parts of this book that were really well done. However, there were other parts that were not great. For one the main female character Haley, curses the mayor with a hex type curse because she is mad at him. Not okay! Especially in a Christian book. Levi has a sensory issue and Haley decides to lay on top of him in bed to be his weight blanket during a storm that really bothers him. Ok maybe because people with sensory disorders need this sometimes so that is plausible but then it gets a little kissy/spicier and I felt that was inappropriate. I just didn’t like that scene at all. Some of the later kisses in the story were a bit passionate with teeth mentioned. There were other things I didn’t like but enough about the negatives. For the positives, I loved that Haley was a librarian of a bookmobile. And that she names everything! She is very talkative and perky. Levi is grumpy and I like how he opens up to Haley. Together they are very cute and they help each other with their struggles. So I thought they were a great fit. I loved how Levi was so loving with the abandoned kittens, he really is a softy at heart. I liked the ending.

It's no surprise that I'm a Sarah Monzon fan. I've read every single one of her books. But this one, this one is my absolute favorite. From the book mobile, to the hero with sensory processing disorder, and the heroine who a book that holds grave importance, I was hooked. Oh, let's not forget the kittens, the letters, or the HEA. This is the type of book I'll reread over and over again as each time I visit the people feel like old friends. The lesson that we don't have to change to be loved but the right person will want to actually see and understand who we are at our core and adapt to the one they love is one I want to remember every single day.

Even if you’re not into audiobooks, I highly recommend you try this in audio. Outstanding performance. Levi and Hayley are thrown together when the bookmobile is stranded in Turkey Grove. Lively, sweet banter. They also both come to understand themselves better. Rarely do I read a romance, but I’m so glad I did. Uplifting, fun, light faith content. Memorable characters.

In some ways, this was a cute bookish romance with hints of Parnassus on Wheels. And I appreciated the thoughtful way the author used her characters to create awareness of Sensory Processing Disorder. But...
As a Christian mom of teens, I struggle with some of the settings in "forced proximity" tropes like this one. I'm not okay with even a fictional example that it's perfectly okay for an unmarried Christian man and woman to live together alone, no matter how great a romance trope it makes.
As a Christian reading a "Christian romance," I take issue with a book that states that the main characters (who are living in close proximity, remember) had not talked about their faith at all other than mealtime prayers. This is well after they had decided their future would include each other. I'd rather you skip that statement altogether than make me think that they value their faith so little.
Yes, the epistolary aspect was fun. There were some important minor themes revolving around not being able to earn our salvation. And the author dealt beautifully with the challenges the main characters faced due to their own histories, medically and otherwise. But I was very disappointed to find so little importance placed on determining a shared faith or being above reproach.
All in all, despite being billed as "clean," there were scenes and themes that felt incredibly inappropriate to appear in Christian fiction.

2.5 stars. This unfortunately wasn’t a romance for me. I truly don’t have a bad thing to say about the book itself. I think so many readers will love it!
Hayley is a small town librarian and she and her staff have recently been gifted a (old, broken down) bookmobile to be able to take books to more rural areas. It’s on the first of these trips that the bookmobile breaks down and Hayley is stranded. Well that is, until local mechanic Levi swoops in on his majestic tow truck…
I loved the library love in this story. The library was such a pillar of my childhood and it’s clear how special the library is to the author. It was very cool to see Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) representation in this story. And of course I loved baby kittens!
What didn’t work for me personally, I didn’t love the main characters… the grumpy/sunshine troupe is hit or miss for me and this one was a miss🙁. This was also very insta love.

I absolutely loved this. For all the readers who enjoy books about books, this one is a MUST READ and the perfect fall romance!
Can it get any better than a grumpy/sunshine, mechanic/librarian, one house, forced proximity, opposites attract love story? There is so much to unpack with these two, and things are never quite what they seem. He has his reasons for keeping to himself. She has her reasons for always helping others. Both need to believe they deserve a future beyond what they have imagined.
When Hayley’s bookmobile breaks down and the road is blocked, she is stranded with Levi until it is cleared. Levi prefers solitude, and Hayley is talkative and full of life, stirring up feelings he has never experienced. Over time, she begins to break through his walls. Hayley did not know what to make of the grumpy mechanic at first, but his quiet acts of kindness like letter writing, kitten cuddling, and cooking, show her there is so much more beneath the surface.
Though cheerful on the outside, Hayley has fears of her own. Fears that hold her back from planning for the future. As Levi opens up, so does she. But when the road is clear, will Levi be ready to let her go? Or can he convince her that their future together is worth the risk? And he's willing to stay with her, no matter what life brings her way?!
The tension, the tenderness, Levi’s quiet devotion, and Hayley’s heartfelt words made this love story truly precious. They both breathe life back into each other and it's just so sweet to experience. And kisses... so sweet!

Oh, the way I felt these words deep in my soul... a thought I've had many, many times myself, and one of many moments that had me relating to this story in ways that I didn't expect. I loved the first book in this series with its perfect blend of heart, humor and bookish moments. I was excited to read this one even more because of the bookmobile aspect– something I have fond memories of in my old childhood. This book not only met all of my expectations, but also FAR exceeded them too. I found myself absolutely drawn into the lives of these two characters, both who had had their fair share of struggles: him with sensory issues and her having received a liver transplant as a child. Yes, their story had several moments that had me laughing, but it was those tender moments of vulnerability that really made it one that is going to stick with me for a long time. I absolutely inhaled this story! Hayley’s sunshiny attitude and Levi’s grumpy, reclusive nature play off each other so well, and it was instant intrigue for me from the moment they met.
Hayley, a circulation librarian, is stranded in the small town of Turkey Grove when her Bookmobile breaks down, and the only road out of town is blocked. When Levi, the Turkey Grove mechanic, shows up to tow the Bookmobile, he reluctantly gains a talkative houseguest for the week. What starts off on a bad foot brings about a sweet, epistolary friendship and a mutual interest between the two.
From charming letters, bookish scavenger hunts, and abandoned kittens to one of the best first kisses I’ve ever read, the entire story had me enchanted and I could not put it down! An absolutely heartwarming and captivating closed-door romance I know I will reread again and again. The way Levi and Hayley really see the other - it’s a beautiful picture of how to love someone really well by paying attention to who they actually are and what they need in the moment. I also love the way Monzon handles the SPD representation. Very relatable!
Hearts In Circulation gets five very enthusiastic stars from me! Stop what you’re doing right now and go grab a copy! Hearts In Circulation can be read as a standalone, although I highly recommend reading book one, An Overdue Match, first. It’s equally as charming and romantic!

A sweet romance between a librarian and a gruff book loving hero.
I really like how the author uses her characters struggles and makes them stronger by helping others. I Liked the characters and the romance but it's definitely more romance forward than plot forward. I really liked the hero in this story. I thought he was so sweet and i definitely identified with him a lot.

A hallmark movie between the pages.
Cute, sweet and even had a little spicy teaser during a storm, HEARTS IN CIRCULATION is a lovely little story about a librarian, her bookmobile and some forced proximity with a reclusive mechanic.
I requested this one through NetGalley after seeing it was a book about books, I hadnt realized it was 2nd in a series. No problem here really, the story was easy to follow and I did not need the first to enjoy it.
Closed door, this is listed as Christian Romance, but it has some tension that even that every romance reader will love.

This book was really cute!
A liberian in charge of the local bookmobile that breaks down and is rescued by the tow truck driver then gets stuck in the tiny town he lives in? We can’t get anymore hallmark than that. I loved the MMC’s representation along with the FMC’s need to serve others.
If you’re looking for a light, fluffy, no spice romance check this one out!

Break out the fans and the fainting couches, because Hearts in Circulation by Sarah Monzon is full of swoonilicious tension! It took me approximately three whole seconds to fall in love with Levi, and the only reason it took that long is because he’s a man of very few words. Normally. Until Hayley, a woman of many words, lands in his life. Oh my heart, y’all. LEVI. I really could just end the review here because he absolutely made this book for me. I mean, yes I loved Hayley’s vibrant personality (and librarian job) and the bookmobile (I’ve always wanted one) and the kittens (more reason to completely melt over Levi) and the side characters (looking at you, Anna Leigh!) and the deeper layers to the story (so much to unpack). But wowsa. A little bit Mr. Darcy, a little bit Disney’s Beast, and a whole lot of his own complicated charm, Levi just stomped his way to a prominent spot on my book boyfriends forever list. Or maybe he chopped his way. You’ll know when you get there. (And HE LOVES BOOKS. Not so much real life people. But fictional people are – get this – HIS FRIENDS and THERE IS LITERATURE INVOLVED IN HIS WOOING. Don’t say I didn’t warn you when you wind up on the floor in a full swoon over this hero.)
Ok, I suppose I should talk about other aspects of the book that I loved too. I touched on them briefly, before getting distracted by Levi again, but honestly there really is so much to delight readers on these pages. Not only is there public acknowledgement of the very tropes they are living out (a fun nod to avid romance consumers), there are many other bookish references that made me smile. More time with Evangeline (from An Overdue Match) and Martha (whose story comes next) and this library trio’s great friendship chemistry is always a joy as well. Also bounding into my heart in this story is the precocious (and bossy) Anna Leigh, who I really hope Monzon writes a whole book about one day – seeing her and her adorably strong personality 15-20 years down the line, and to meet whoever captures her heart, would be an absolute treat. But even more than all of those hilarious and heartwarming and swoony things, I really appreciated the deeper complexities that Monzon used as the foundation for Levi and Hayley’s stories. Hayley’s unique health history and Levi’s sensory processing disorder mean a future together isn’t going to be completely smooth sailing, but the way they respected & accommodated each other gave me much to think about and grounded the story at the same time.
Bottom Line: Equal parts swoony, witty, and tender, Hearts in Circulation by Sarah Monzon delivers the forced proximity and grumpy/sunshine tropes with utterly bookish perfection. It basically just swept me right off my feet, y’all. Kinda like Levi does with Hayley (quite literally sometimes… and there I go getting all twitterpated again). Blissful sigh… with his quiet depth, gruff tenderness, and BOOKLY WOOING, Levi is the kind of hero who makes you fan yourself one minute and want to wrap him in a tight hug the next. And Hayley’s sunshine energy unexpectedly meets him beat for beat, surprising him and delighting me. Sarah Monzon blends humor, swoon, and depth so effortlessly, and this novel hits every readerly sweet spot. It’s romantic, it’s meaningful, and it consumes your heart in the best possible way. A must-read!

Ok, I suppose I should talk about other aspects of the book that I loved too. I touched on them briefly, before getting distracted by Levi again, but honestly there really is so much to delight readers on these pages. Not only is there public acknowledgement of the very tropes they are living out (a fun nod to avid romance consumers), there are many other bookish references that made me smile. More time with Evangeline (from An Overdue Match) and Martha (whose story comes next) and this library trio’s great friendship chemistry is always a joy as well. Also bounding into my heart in this story is the precocious (and bossy) Anna Leigh, who I really hope Monzon writes a whole book about one day – seeing her and her adorably strong personality 15-20 years down the line, and to meet whoever captures her heart, would be an absolute treat. But even more than all of those hilarious and heartwarming and swoony things, I really appreciated the deeper complexities that Monzon used as the foundation for Levi and Hayley’s stories. Hayley’s unique health history and Levi’s sensory processing disorder mean a future together isn’t going to be completely smooth sailing, but the way they respected & accommodated each other gave me much to think about and grounded the story at the same time.
Bottom Line: Equal parts swoony, witty, and tender, Hearts in Circulation by Sarah Monzon delivers the forced proximity and grumpy/sunshine tropes with utterly bookish perfection. It basically just swept me right off my feet, y’all. Kinda like Levi does with Hayley (quite literally sometimes… and there I go getting all twitterpated again). Blissful sigh… with his quiet depth, gruff tenderness, and BOOKLY WOOING, Levi is the kind of hero who makes you fan yourself one minute and want to wrap him in a tight hug the next. And Hayley’s sunshine energy unexpectedly meets him beat for beat, surprising him and delighting me. Sarah Monzon blends humor, swoon, and depth so effortlessly, and this novel hits every readerly sweet spot. It’s romantic, it’s meaningful, and it consumes your heart in the best possible way. A must-read!

Oh my heart!!! So adorable!!! I loved this second book in the Checking Out Love series even more! Haley is just so stinking cute. I loved her goodness and heart. And Levi is just this perfect gentle giant that you're going to be cheering on so much when he meets Haley! These two are perfection together. It just takes a bit for them to realize it. My face has a permagrin from all of the smiling I did while listening to this audiobook, and from my smiles still happening after finishing the book!

Beautiful story! I highly recommend Hearts in Circulation by Sarah Monzon for lovers of a good story, while at the same time learning about conditions we may be unaware of that affect others. You will love this bookish friendship helped on by writing letters after a misunderstanding.
What a sweet, funny, and romantic story that introduces the reader to a character with a sensory processing disorder, and another character who had a transplant. I thoroughly enjoyed enjoyed every page, the humor, the sweetness, the concerns, and how they navigate misunderstandings, and a potential relationship that will affect their future.

Book #2 in this sweet, non-spicy, Christian Romance series!!
In this one we have Hailey, the other librarian from book #1, who can’t wait to go around town, and to neighboring towns, with the new-ish bookmobile! She’s so excited to bring this to new people, as well as old faithfuls! But, she’s comcen d that the bookmobile may not be totally safe. 😳
And of course, her first excursion out of town brings the bookmobile to a halt… and then there’s a mud/rockslide…and she’s STUCK in another town. !! 😮
But, not to worry, she’s told to call Levi. He can fix anything! And she does. And he comes. And… he won’t speak to her at all. It actually seems like it pains him to talk to her! 😫
He’s got some issues… and we learn about them and him throughout the book.
And, Hailey has some issues of her own. So when the two of them really DO start speaking, well, it just changes everything!
This one will really open up your eyes, your ears and your heart! And, it just might make you appreciate all the simple things that we take for granted in our everyday lives…

The grumpy/sunshine trope has always been one of my favorites. Couple that with small town vibes and it’s usually a winner for me. This story was cute and cozy. Fair warning that you’ll be wanting to run out and get kittens by the time you’re done reading. This coming from someone who really doesn’t like pets in general. LOL
A bookmobile named Cletus – is there anything cuter? What’s not cute is Cletus breaking down on librarian Haley Holt, out in the middle of nowhere, followed by a rockslide that keeps her completely trapped for several days in the tiny little town of Turkey Grove. There’s no way in and there’s no way out. Thankfully, the one mechanic in town, Levi, comes to help. He’s a man of very few words and completely rough around the edges, but he’s also Haley’s only hope for rescue. Cletus gets towed, but the only place Haley has to stay while waiting for the bookmobile to be fixed and for the rockslide to be cleaned up is at Levi’s house. Awkward as it sounds, and opposite as the two are, there’s a special understanding and connected between the two of them. Both Haley and Levi have juggled health diagnosis that control the way they march through life.
Overall, this was a sweet read, but I had a bit of a hard time connecting with the characters. Very insta-love in an almost impossible to believe way. A few too many make-outs for my personal taste as well. The overall premise was cute though and it’s perfect for the Fall season.

I LOVED this adorable story! It’s charming and cute with a wonderful depth. I loved that Levi has sensory issues (my daughter does as well) so seeing that in a book thrilled me! Sarah wrote those elements beautifully. Levi is a wonderful character and I adore him! The first chapter of this story was hilarious and a great start to the book. The rest of the story is wonderful and I loved every second of it. Do not miss this one!!

Oh my word! This book is absolute PERFECTION! I LOVE Sarah Monzon’s writing style and her voice! She’s one of my all time favorite authors, so I knew without question that I would love this book, but there simply aren’t words to express just how much I ADORED every single sentence of this book!
Hayley and Levi are chef’s kiss amazing, and I couldn’t stop smiling whenever they were on the page together! And Levi is totally my new book boyfriend!
All the heart-eye emojis for this one!
I also loved all the secondary characters in this book!
Every page had me happy-sighing! And I wish I could read it again for the first time!
I love it when a book not only entertains me but helps me to gain new perspective and this author always does that beautifully. It never fails that I come away from one of her books as a more compassionate and understanding person! I so appreciated the liver transplant and sensory processing disorder representation in this book!

Levi has become one of my favorite fictional heroes of all time. I fell in love with him at first sight, with his one word answers and rock solid presence. His self-deprecating ways, heart-wrenching insecurity, genuine heart of gold, and unshakable character won me over completely. I loved that the author created a wonderful and relatable hero with sensory processing disorder to bring light to this lesser known condition. Hayley and her bright, optimistic, carpe diem first person voice was the perfect complement to Levi and his introspective, brooding third person voice. Living with a liver transplant cannot be easy and the author did an excellent job of creating a lovable heroine weighed down with survivor's guilt and unable to contemplate a life with love and children. I loved the little town of Turkey Grove and its residents. The purpose of the bookmobile was noble; it was delightful how loved it and Hayley were from the minute they crawled into town behind a tow truck. Levi and his skills at car repair were quite remarkable and I loved watching him repair and renovate. The letters that Levi and Hayley exchange were charming and witty; those letters were the heart of their relationship. Though a man of few words, we find Levi incredibly swoon-worthy in his written words.

However, there were still plenty of things I enjoyed about this book: the premise, the bookmobile, the kittens, Turkey Grove, and the literature references.
I struggled with the characters and the romance aspect of this story, and I wish the faith content was woven in more seamlessly instead of dumped toward the end.

Wow such a great romance! I really enjoyed reading Haley and Levi’s love story! Haley is a librarian who has received a bookmobile. On her first trip, it breaks down and mechanic Levi comes to her rescue. An avalanche causes them to temporary live together. Their banter was so cute and their chemistry spot on! I loved the diversity representation. This is my first book by this author but surely not my last! I received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley in trade for my honest opinion. The premise is cute- it’s what attracted me in the first place. I was unaware that this is a Christian contemporary romance which is not necessarily a bad thing, just not a genre I typically read. I appreciate the inclusion of MMC having a sensory processing disorder and how detailed the descriptions of his struggle are- BUT I don’t understand the FMC at all. She is somehow immediately attracted to this grumpy, gruff and, frankly, rude man and then feels the need to apologize to him(?!??!!!) because she didn’t immediately intuit his needs after knowing him for approximately 1 hour. He is a full grown adult- who has been given tips on how to adapt and approach his SPD by his *OT sister* which he ignores and instead chooses to be rude to everyone around him because reasons. I could not see the chemistry between these characters or get past the unlikeability of the MMC. Thank you to NetGalley and Libro for an advanced copy.

This was such a wonderful story! With great characters and such good character growth! I’ll definitely have more of a review to come! The audiobook was wonderfully done!
