Married to the same man for over 25 years, I am a mother to three children and two Miniature Wiener dogs.

After owning a business and experiencing considerable success, my husband and I got caught in the financial crisis and lost everything in 2008; our business, our home, even our car.

At this point, I put my B.A. in Poly Sci to use and took work as a waitress and bartender (Insert irony). Unwilling to give up on a professional life, I simultaneously went back to college and obtained a degree in Energy Management.

And then the energy market dropped off.

And then my dog died.

I can only be grateful for this series of unfortunate events, for, with nothing to lose and completely demoralized, I sat down and began to write the romance novels which had until then, existed only my imagination.
After publishing over twenty novels now, with one having been nominated for RWA’s Distinguished ™RITA Award in 2019, I am happy to tell you that I have finally found my place in life.

The end of Hanover Square Spare has Goldie’s sister Nia running down the aisle of St. George’s away from her elderly, scabby groom and diving into Jasper’s carriage to escape being dragged back to the altar.

This book tells what happens next. Nia doesn’t want to marry, and Jasper greatly enjoys being a bachelor. But they are thrown together when she needs his help to flee her attempted weddings.

You don’t need to read the first book to enjoy this one. Reed and Goldie appear in this, but their story is explained enough here to make sense, and this really focuses on Nia and Jasper.

I enjoyed this book even more than the previous one. I liked Nia, and Jasper has much more depth than I expected. There is also some groundwork for a bigger story that connects back a little to Reed’s, but mainly involves the Duke of Malum, who unfortunately won’t be the focus of the next book. Hopefully his turn is soon!

If you have enjoyed Anders’ previous work, you’ll like his one too. She can pack a fair amount of story into a relatively short number of pages. That being said, this is quite a bit longer than Hanover Square Spare, but it just gives you more to enjoy. Not clean, and trigger alert for physical abuse early in the book.

If I could rate this story a 10 star I would!

The sparks flew between the characters from the beginning of the story to the end.

Nia decided to couldn't wed a man who looked like he wanted to possess and own her for the rest of her life because she's been doing what she's told since she was a young girl by her parents, so she runs out on the day of her wedding and into the carriage and arms of Jasper who she never thought would be the man of her dreams.

Jasper wants and is determined to be a bachelor for the rest of his life due to what his father thought was love until Nia shows up in his life unexpectedly and he sees that she's not your typical feather brained debutante and he starts having feelings for her that go deeper than desire.

With the a long carriage ride and possibility of their lives being turned upside down they are forced together and they not only discover that they have passion for each other but they need each other and they will forever be tied together.

I definitely can't wait to see the rest of this series!

If this story is anything like what's to come, I'm beyond excited!

I received this story as a gift from the author in exchange for a voluntary review and this entirely based on my own experience and no one else's.

Lady Gardenia has no desire to marry the horrid & elderly Duke of Dewberry who her father has chosen for her, but since her sister Goldie’s escape, the Duke of Crossings is more domineering than ever. So when Nia is faced with vowing to love, honour and obey during her wedding ceremony, she can’t say I do & she runs right out the church through the London streets to her sister’s home but Goldie is still on her honeymoon so Nia stumbles into a waiting coach. Jasper Baron of Westcott is surprised, to say the least, when Nia stumbles into his coach but his protective & chivalrous nature come to the fore & they flee.
The second book in the series & its easily read on its own but as the series surrounds close friends characters do overlap. I loved everything about it, strong characters, a fast paced story, sizzling chemistry & two people who don’t want to marry falling in love & changing their minds. There's a road trip complete with highwaymen, a fair & a thunderstorm plus witty banter & increasing sexual tension. Another engrossing, captivating read by the author
My review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

He’s reputed to be a rake, given the name The Piccadilly Player, he doesn’t seem to be able to shake it.
But is it really him, Jasper, Baron Westcott doesn’t believe so.

When a young distraught lady throws herself at his mercy and into his carriage, he has no option but to help her.
Lady Gardenia daughter of a Duke is running from her betrothed and her family, fleeing the altar and dressed for the occasion, she sees a chance and takes it, not realising she’s putting the gentleman in danger from her father.

Fun and very enjoyable read fro Annabelle, loving this series

I really enjoyed this one, the second to this Rakes of Rotten Row series set in the English Regency Period. I didn’t like that the heroine’s dad isn’t in trouble for his deeds…hopefully later will settle that score. It’s also interesting that the Duke of Malum is a good guy in this series after being a bad guy in the Miss Primm series, but I guess people have many facets to their personality anyway.

Annabelle Anders is another author I consider one of my favorites. This is the 39th book of hers I've read. I also have read 4 her anthologies, all since 2018. I enjoy her writing and her stories.

I loved this story. I couldn't put it down. I loved Nia and Jasper. They were such a cute couple. Overall really good read.

I know it doesn't work for a lot of people now that we must have strong, independent heroines in our romance novels at all times, but I love a good damsel in distress story. Nia was willing to fight for herself and her freedom, but she did need some help, and I loved how Jasper stepped in even though he had no need to. He simply couldn't let the injustice sit and it showed his true honorable nature almost immediately, very different from the rakish reputation he carried. I couldn't put this book down and I loved that it managed to be fairly high stakes without being anxiety inducing for me. The road trip forced proximity trope also happens to be one of my favorites and I really enjoyed how it was deployed here. I loved how things turned out and how sweet these two were together, though the end did begin to feel a bit slapstick for a second before it recovered. I think I've possibly underestimated by enjoyment of this series, and I plan to continue it.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Six London Gents wreaking havoc in Mayfair—one heart at a time.

𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄

I was not sure I would find time to read this book with my tight schedule but the preview offered in the first book prevented me to pass by this one.
So here we are.
I just adored how Jasper is compliant, protective and accepting.
Nia for all her years as the obedient daughter, when she decided to break free, she did it in the most public way possible, like literally running away from the altar in a mad dash along the London streets.
But for all her impulses, she is also ill-prepared for what to do next.
Why if not for Jasper, she would have been back to her starting point in no time.
Luckily for her, fate was on the lookout.
And who’s better to help her learn how to walk on her two feet than a man who has secured his own future.
While innocent and quite sheltered, Nia is not completely naive. But in her will to unlock the walls of her cage, she lacks many knowledges. Which could turn dangerous and life altering if not for the man who appointed himself by chance her hero.
Jasper after witnessing one too many failed marriage by his father, decided to avoid the institution as long as possible. So when a lady lands verbatim at his feet, it is immediately out of question for him to do more than offering some mere assistance.
Yet her plight touches him, he understands what it is to be bullied. So against his own sanity, he can not let her face the future her father has in store for her.

From there begins a wild journey as they venture on the roads to flee her sire and his cronies. Along their trip, Nia discovers bit by bit who she is, or wants to be and even if it is not a straight path, punctuated by mistakes, mishaps and an attraction they at first resist. This is the adventure of a lifetime, as both come to see the other as a immovable element of their life. If they can sort out their feelings in time.
Once more the author grants us a lovely and enjoyable road-trip with two deserving persons who need one another but do not know it yet.

Lady Gardenia Hathaway is the daughter of the Duke of Crossings, who has spent her life doing and learning all the right things in society's eyes. Now she is determined to escape her cruel father and the man he has chosen to marry her, the Duke of Dewberry - 30 years older and disgusting. While at the altar speaking her vows, Nia realizes she cannot love and obey this old lecher and flees the church. Hot on her trail are her father's and the duke's men, but she spies a gentleman just entering his carriage and before he could close the door, she threw herself in on the floor and begged him to drive away.

Jasper Perry, Baron Westcott, is a rake, gambler, loves his bachelor life - after all he is the Piccadilly Player. To say he was taken aback when a young lady threw herself into his carriage, would be an understatement, but he recognizes her, and he is compelled by honor to order his driver to take them away. Now that he has rescued her, what does he do to help - that question is soon answered when her father comes to Jasper's home and takes his daughter back home. When Jasper goes to check on the well-being of Nia, he spots her climbing from a window and once again he rescues her from her cruel father.

Jasper has never desired marriage because of his father's marriages after his mother died; but after hearing Nia's story and getting to know her better, honor dictates him to marry her for her protection and it would also keep the matchmaking mamas away from him. He convinces Nia to at least think about the possibility of a marriage of convenience, and they begin an adventurous journey to Gretna Green. Can Nia, who has just gained her freedom, be willing to settle for a loveless marriage? The couple is so likable with sizzling chemistry and fun banter. Their relationship builds from an arrangement to genuine love with danger, enemies and obstacles they overcome together. I was surprised at the twist that was thrown into the story - I didn't see it coming! I voluntarily read & reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts & opinions are my own.

Lady Gardenia, (Nia), runs away from her own wedding, leaving her betrothed at the altar. She runs to her sister’s home, but finds that a man has just been turned away, due to the occupants being away. Nia begs the man, Baron Jasper Westcott, to not give her away and to help in her escape. He agrees and takes her to his house. It is here that she is caught by her father, the Duke of Crossings, who barges into West’s study and demands his daughter back.
His housekeeper gave Nia’s hairpins to Jasper, and he decides to go and see her to give them back. He was informed that Lady Gardenia was not available and so he was going to leave. He heard noise from above, and realised that Nia was again trying to get away. As the trellis she was climbing down gave way, Jasper was able to catch her fall and soften the blow.
They managed to escape to his friend, the Duke of Malum’s establishment. It was from here that they made their way to Scotland, eventually agreeing to an arrangement if they had to marry.
By the time they had arrived, and decided they would marry, Nia’s sister and brother in law, turned up. There was no longer the need of Jasper’s protection and therefore marriage. Nia left a letter with the innkeeper for him, but Jasper was heading back to England before reading it. Nia had gone back to Gretna Green, and was waiting for him to show. Jasper arrived during the night, waking everyone up. After talking with Nia and straightening everything out, he stayed at the inn. They went back to the blacksmith the following morning and made their vows.
The characters are brilliantly described, and the scenes beautifully written. You feel like you know these people and the struggles they have to overcome.
Annabelle Anders has a five star rating from me.

FANTASTIC!!! Piccadilly Player by Annabelle Anders is book 2 in the The Rakes of Rotten Row series and WOW… what a series!!! Though in a series this book can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend you read Goldie’s story (Nia’s half sister) in Hanover Square Spare to learn her character as well. This run-away-bride story is one for the ages and at times I found this book witty, the reality of it was quite sad. Annabelle is one of the best authors of today and is a total favorite author of mine. I never miss reading one of her books she is that good and Piccadilly Player did not disappoint. I found this book easy to read, had wonderful characters, easy to read, vivd description, had the real feel of the regency ear and I just could not put this book down. It captured me from page 1 to the very end. I cannot even wait to read the next in this series. This story has a run-away-bride that was arranged by a father, a baron who does not want to marry yet, jumping into a carriage to hide, feeling sorry for her, her sister marring his best friend, finding her sister away on holiday, not having a plan, finding out she is a powerful duke’s daughter, asking for advise from a friend, being chased, going to Greta Green to marry, wanting her freedom, having a will of her own, wanting to protect, trying to cross a almost washed out bridge, not really have the reputation that is said about him, being naive, banter and falling in love or do they? You will have to read this wonderful story for your self and I am highly recommending that you do!!!

***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.

4.5 STARS

The h leaves an OLD Duke at the altar when she realizes she could not be with someone like him for the rest of her life. She is the eldest daughter of a Duke, only 20 and he's at least 30 years older. She runs from the Church and ends up in the carriage of the Piccadilly Player, but does the Ton really know him?

The H never wants to marry after how his father reacted after his mother died. But, somehow he's in the right place when the h needs his help again.

Both don't let the other know their true feelings, so we have little misunderstandings at times. There is a major twist near the end that I didn't see coming - loved that!

I was disappointed the h didn't get to confront the H's stepmother. Yes, it was explained what she was going to say when they met, but I wanted to be apart of it. It wasn't clear at the end of the story if they even went to see her.

Story has suspense, romance, violence, bumpy road to HEA, no cheating, some romance, no cliffhanger and one crude word used. Lovemaking outside of marriage - heat level 3 out of 5 and described several times. This is a stand alone story. I can't improve on the blurb, just giving you some tidbits to decide whether to purchase.

I received ARC and all opinions are my own and freely given. (ljb)

The Piccadilly Player by Annabelle Anders is Nia and Jasper’s story. Nia was always the dutiful daughter doing what her parents expected. That is, until her parents decided she was going to marry the Duke of Dewberry. Nia decided that she was going to make a run for it and left the duke at the altar.

Jasper Perry, Baron of Westcott, has the reputation of being a playboy. It’s not truly a reputation he deserves, but he’s done little to counter the Ton’s perception of him. He unwittingly becomes involved in Nia’s escape. Thus begins Jasper and Nia’s relationship. Along the way they have quite the adventure involving an eventful road trip, forced proximity, including Inns with just one bed, and more!

Jasper and Nia stole my heart. I was so impressed with Nia’s feistiness. She’s so resilient I couldn’t help but root for her. I think Jasper is surprised by the protective instincts he feels toward her. I truly enjoyed their story and didn’t want it to end. The cherry on top was were the cameos by Goldie and Standish! I know Helton’s story is next, but after tidbits that were disclosed in the epilogue I’m looking forward to Malum’s story.

I received an ARC from the author. The opinions expressed above are my own.

runaway bride meets honorable gentleman with a prickly reputation

A lovable adventure story. Lots of action, dating activities and challenges face both Jasper and Nia as they grow together learning what love really is. The villain isn’t too prevalent just lurking. Jasper is a bit of a mystery. Suggest you read the Rakes of Rotten Row book 1 first. We know how he got his nickname but not what he currently does which is hinted at through the book. Enough questions are posed that the series is interesting and holds a readers attention. What I particularly liked about this book is the awe feel good factor. Jasper is heroic, loyal, clever, responsible and strong. Nia is sheltered naive and bursting at the seams to be free of controlling men. She fears physical intimacy because of her mothers stories, her father has betrothed her to an old sickly Duke after her first fiancé died. She runs. The dialogue between Jasper and Nia feels believable as does the intimacy as it grows. Looking forward to book 3.

Nia is the daughter of a Duke, an enviable position to be sure, but Nia has no freedom. To her ruthless Father, she is a possession, and as such, he is forcing her into a marriage with an even more despicable Duke, thirty years her senior. She has always done as she’s told, but this time she just can’t , so she runs, right into the carriage of Jasper, the Baron of Westcott. He is the Piccadilly Player, who has never desired marriage, and has no desire to get forced into it now, but he is compelled to help this desperate girl escape from her tyrannical Father and an even worse Betrothed! They embark on a great run away! Jasper sees no way out except that they be forced to marry. But Nia has just finally found her freedom from domination and she is not so sure that she can trust Jasper or do anything that he tells her to do. This is a wonderful story, with great dialogue and delightful characters! Their romance is sweet and passionate, and I loved every page of it!

This was a fun page turning romance. Lady Gardenia runs away at the altar from the old Duke of Dewberry, who her father has decreed she will marry. She runs to her sister's house, but her sister and husband are not back from their wedding trip. Jasper, Baron Westcott has just left their house after finding out they weren't there. Nia jumps into his carriage to get away from her father's men who are chasing her. Jasper takes her to his home where her father later finds her and takes her back. The old duke has still agreed to marry her, so her father locks her in her room. Jasper finds some of her jeweled hairpins and goes to return them. As he is leaving, after being turned away, he sees Nia climbing down the trellis. He grabs her and they make a mad dash north to Gretna Green.
This is a fabulous story about two people who didn't want to marry, but finding out that they are perfect for each other. There are some interesting plot twists in the story. I loved it!

Another enjoyable story by a great author. This is the second book in the series, but you do not have to read the first book to enjoy this book, but I would because they were both good. Nia who always listens to her father, decided on her wedding day, at the alter not to marry the man her father wants her to. She decides to run away, right into Jasper’s carriage. Her father finds her and still wants her to marry the man he has picked out, so she runs away again, out her window and Jasper is there to catch her. Jasper and Nia both do not want to get married, but sometimes faith puts someone in your path who is perfect for you. I loved Jasper and Nia both. Jasper didn’t plan on being a hero, but he really was one when Nia needed him. This story kept me entertained from start to finish.
I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving my honest opinion.

If there is one thing Annabelle Anders knows how to do above anything it is writing a damn good rake! Jasper, Lord Westcott, is the determined bachelor known as the Piccadilly Player. Behind that public facade is a wounded gentleman with a heart of gold. Ever the protector he barely hesitates to come to the rescue when Lady Gardenia flees her unwanted wedding. The lengths he goes to to rescue her are just a few of the hints to his tender character. Nia, seeming the typical dutiful society daughter in the previous book is finding there is more to her than even she thought. Forced to examine her own wants, her adventure with Jasper teaches her that she is a strong, independent woman with a kind heart. I giggled, I laughed, I sighed in contentment and oh boy, did I blush! A wild ride of excitement. I cannot wait to see what comes next in this delightful series.

Jasper and Nia are just so cute together.

Nia has a very regimented life and is expected to make a father arranged match. She is not given a choice in anything, even friends. In an act of rebellion, she runs away from the altar straight into the arms of Jasper.

Jasper is a reputed rake. His reputation is a bit exaggerated. His father jumped from wife to wife after the death of Jaspers mom to find that elusive love again. Jasper does not want to get into the institution of marriage yet, nor does he believe in love after seeing the impact on his father.

To protect Nia, the two decide a marriage is necessary and head to Gretna Green. On the way, they become close emotionally and physically and build a solid relationship. I loved their marriage contract. Day of the wedding, some events come to light, but choices are made for a happy ending.

This story is lovely. Gardenia makes a surprising decision to run from the alter when her father tried to make her marry a much older and controlling man. Her father had always ruled the family with an iron fist so she was always obedient until that moment. Her running led her to a life that she never dreamed possible. A chance encounter outside her sister place when she dove into Jasper’s carriage to escape her fathers servants took her story into a lovely place of learning. Jasper is not quit what everyone thinks he is as the Piccadilly player. We see a totally different side to him as he works to help Gardenia. Their story is hectic and sad at moments but most of the time it is full of wonder and exploration.

This was an entertaining read involving Jasper Perry, Baron of Westcott and Lady Gardenia (Nia). Jasper was the best friend of Reed, who featured in the first book along with Nia’s sister. Nia was a very brave lady knowing that there would be repercussions for her actions and her father wasn’t a forgiving or kind man. Jasper was known as a player since his youth but although he had altered his ways somewhat, his reputation still stood. Basically, he could be relied upon to do what was required of him as a gentleman. Their journey to a happy ending had many interruptions and experiences. It led Nia to realise what a sheltered life she had experienced. There are some passionate moments and exciting times to provide a very enjoyable read.

Nia and Jasper shook up Piccadilly with their no nonsense intelligence and commanding capabilities. The plot was logical to Nia and Jasper’s mission. Il like Jasper. He’s my favorite character in the book. The background story to Nia’s plight makes the story a very exciting read. The dialogue and actions among the characters is very believable. Dewberry and Nia’s father pushes the limit of Jasper to cross a line of never coming back. The romance is sweet and passionate. Jasper willingness to protect Nia shows so well through his passionate embraces with Nia. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

A 5 STARS HISTORICAL ROMANCE LOVE DRAMA

Book 2 in the interesting Series: The Rakes of Rotten Row is a delicious & delightful 5 STARS. Good characters with some we know from prior books of this author. This storyline starts out fast and never slows down.

Nia, nor Jasper wanted to marry but for for very different reasons. However, it seemed they had no choice in this matter. Surprisingly they were starting to really enjoy & like each other as they traveled North.

As a reader I loved reading about this couple as they learned things about each other & got closer bit by bit. It waa very heartwarming.

Nia's story was unreal. A mean and abusive father selling her in marriage to pay a debt to a lecherous and mean old Duke and Nia realizing she could not do it runs at the last minute from the altar.

Enter the next Rake, Jasper, who saves her, but is betrayed by one of his staff and Nia is forced to return to her father. Jasper then gets there in time to save her a second time as she tries to escape her father's and the Duke's clutches.

Now we follow their journey to get away and learn how their relationship grows and changes.

It was nice to catch up on Reed and Goldie as this story comes to a conclusion.

Piccadilly Player is book two in the Rakes of Rotten Row series. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Lady Gardenia Hathaway is the older sister of Marigold Hathaway the heroine in book one. Nia is forced to wed an ancient degenerate duke at the behest of her abusive father. But half way through the wedding, she bolts down the aisle and crashes into a real rakes carriage. What will become of her? This story has some twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. It has quite a few steamy scenes. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Jasper and Nia. Can’t wait to read more in this series.

This book surprised me in the best possible way. I was in a bit of a reading slump when I started it, and Nia wasn’t my favorite character after reading Hanover Square Spare. It took me a bit to warm up to her, but I grew to really like and respect her character. She and Jasper were great together, and the ending took a bit of a twist that I definitely didn’t see coming. This was a wonderful read, and I can’t wait for more in this series by Annabelle Anders. I received an ARC from the author. All opinions expressed are my own.

This story pulled me in and I had this feeling that I was part of the family. Does that make sense? Well, while I was reading it, it sure did to me. Jasper and Nia were such special people. They make the people around them better and I love that for them. All the while, growing and understanding and falling in love. A road trip, one bed adventure that kept me engaged and quickly reading to spend time with them. Some of the most romantic people I have read in books.

Most Definitely Highly Recommended!
Jasper and Nia were absolutely two of the most wonderful characters I have read about so far and that is saying something!
I loved the way Nia was always getting into ‘situations’ and Jasper just ’had to’ save her.
He was oh so perfect as a character. Of course he was adamant that he would never marry but I guess Nia started a flame in him that couldn’t be put out.
This story was even better than the first one of the series and that was fabulous, so I can hardly wait for what comes next!.

A good read

I enjoyed reading this book about a runaway bride. It had lots of action and intrigue, also a lot of unanswered questions about the the things that the Duke of Crossings was involved in. At least Nia stood up for herself and almost was seriously injured crawling out the window on the third floor onto a trellis that looked untrustworthy to hold her which it did not and pulled away from the house dumping her into the arms of her hero. I highly recommend this book! 👍👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤

Another great book in this series. West and Nia are a great couple and work well together to escape her father. Nia wasn't the smartest heroine at the start of the book but West was there to save her from all sorts of scrapes that she got herself in. This book starts to explain how each of the men in the group became friends and started to work together. There is an underlying mystery that shows up in each book. I look forward to seeing what happens with Maxwell in the next book.
