Callie Young is tired of living out of a suitcase. Looking for a safe place to land, she finds herself in the small town of Tempest, where the homes look like doll houses, and the men look a lot like G.I. Joe. Men like Blake Price. When Mr Tall, dark and lickable, stumbles across Callie on a dark, stormy night, the spark between them is enough to cause an inferno. She’s never been one to play with fire, but when that fire comes in a six-foot, smoking-hot package, it’s impossible to resist the flames, even at the risk of getting burned.
As the owner of Price Security, Blake has no time for anything other than work and his team. He’s never felt the need to get in deep with a woman before, not when that requires ripping open old scars and letting his secrets bleed out. Until now. With a foul-mouthed grandmother playing matchmaker and a bunch of a-hole teammates ready to step in and steal his girl, Blake’s ready to throw Callie over his shoulder and drag her home, caveman style—consequences be damned.
But when a seemingly innocent chain of events puts Callie back in the crosshairs of the evil she ran from, Blake realizes he isn’t the only one keeping secrets. And though his are tragic, Callie’s secrets could turn out to be deadly.
Author’s note: Cautious was previously released as part of a shared world project. It has been revamped, re-edited and has a fancy new cover. In this version of Cautious, the names of people and places may have changed along with the setting and timeline. The backstories are more fleshed out, and as this is now book one in a brand new series, it introduces characters who will soon be getting their own stories. The bones of this book are still the same, the story is just a little girthier than before.
Author’s part Cautious (and the rest of the Tempest Series) is set in the same world as my Underestimated series. However, only Cautious slips into the Underestimated timeline; the rest will run parallel to the same world stories. Tempest Series can be read as a complete stand-alone book/series, but if you’d like to read it in conjunction with the other books set in this world, I’ve included the reading order

Bruh. I thought this was the same author who write coerce and compel. This is not the same author! That’s what fucked me up 😂😂🤦♀️🤦♀️
She moves to a new town and of course her neighbor is super hawt. Like HaAaAaaaaaWt 🥴🥴🥴 and then she drops a pink dildo and is like “whoopsie doopsie! Did I do thaaaaaat?” Steve urkel style. If you don’t know who that is, he’s also a very super hawt guy 🫣🫣😏😏
She helps her next door neighbor grandma who happens to be his grandmother.
……um…….
There’s not much else about this book. It might be why I dnfed and haven’t looked back in the rear view mirror.
not my favorite candice book which is a shame, because i normally love them.
the insta love between callie and blake was kinda forced, as well as their initial connection… especially blake’s overr th top concern, i would have kicked the man out of my house so fucking fast.
i think the fact that we have two big plot points of tension and rescuing is what bothered me the most.
imo the one with the MC was unnecessary and felt forced… there was no need to show us reign and her men.
tate was a good addition to it though.
i felt that from 70% onwards is when the book really got good and had a good flow… before that, something vital is missing.
h-funny, traumatizing past but doesn't act like it, and a virgin H-grief and survivors' guilt, experienced with the beginning repeatedly mentioning how he likes it hard and no commitment. Bad guy is a rich successful older man who is shown a photo of the h and has to have her. It really made little sense how he had cops and FBI in his pocket but was willing to commit crimes on tape, leave his city and mansion to escape to a new country with h, and goes so crazy he doesn't care what happens.

🅼🆈 🆃🅷🅾🆄🅶🅷🆃🆂:
Callie has moved to the town of Tempest, trying to run away from her past demons and start a new life hidden from the shadows of her past.
She just has to stay away from people but didn't expect to meet a hot hunk on the first day itself while a pink d!1d0 is involved. 😂
Callie is straight forward and has no mind to mouth filter as she instantly says whatever is on her mind and regrets later giving way to funny moments and at times this helping her in breaking ice with people.
Blake is instantly smitten the minute he lays his eyes on Callie. It's like Lust at first sight but also something more that Blake's own unresolved issues of the past don't allow him to accept.
It was so much fun meeting Blake's guys, who work in his security company and they are more like friends that are Family to him. His granny was so awesome in her take no sh!t attitude.
It made me smile how much Blake was protective towards Callie and a total goner for her. I really enjoyed their chemistry and they were definitely fire together.
But I have to say I was so freaked out and in for the ride when Callie's past comes to light and then it's full of chase and run and the story takes thrilling turns that kept me on my toes.
Some of the moments really had me holding my breath, so scared not knowing what would happen next. I really loved the full on action and twists we get back to back in the later half of the book.
But I have to say each of the guys that's part of Blake's team had me liking them so much. Marcus, Felix, Kellan and others were amazing. We do get hints that Aiden might be next as he gets himself on duty for a Hollywood star.
I'm definitely excited to see what we get next from this series and want more of these characters that we meet in this book. Loved this one. ❤️❤️❤️
This was my first book by Candice and it will not be my last! She has the ability to write a story that sucks you in and the next thing you know the afternoon is gone and you don’t know where it went. She gives the characters depth and layers on top of layers. That’s what she did for Blake and Callie,
This is a couple that you want to get to know and be friends with, and let’s not even get started on all of Blake’s friends.
In this book you will laugh, bite your nails in suspense and definitely blush. It has it all! Now I’m off to read the rest of her library because they are going to be interesting I just know it! **************************************** Now, it’s been 3 years a her whole library later, I am huge fan of Candice’s, she writes stories that keep you on the edge of your seats, and keep you flipping those pages until you get to the very end. If you like witty banter, loyal men and kindle melting steamy scenes, then run and read this one. And then dive into her backlist of strong women and the men who love them.
Callie is trying to start her life over in small town Tempest. All she wants to do is blend into the background and live out her life without drawing attention to herself, unfortunately for her, things don’t go according to plan. Blake runs a security firm and isn’t looking for love, but he can’t help how he feels the first time he sees Callie and witnesses her sass firsthand. Callie’s past comes back to bite her, but instead of running like her instincts command she stands tall with Blake at her side. All hell breaks loose when Callie’s past catches up with her, and some unlikely heroes show up to aid Blake, but will they make it in time to save her from the fate she was running from in the first place? Another great read by Candice Wright. I absolutely love this and can’t wait to see what happens with the men of Tempest. Definitely a 5 star read. I couldn’t put it down!
I hadn't read the original version of this book. If im honest I'm glad that I hadn't as it gave me a fresh perspective on it.
Callie (FMC) is looking for a safe place to start over and finds her way to Tempest. A small town where everyone is friendly and nosey too. Callie & Blake had an instant rapport but it's the banter that they had together that had me laughing out loud especially the Supermarket scene. Which had me cracking up. As did Blakes grandmother who was a riot too. I loved the other guys in the Price Security family and how they all took Callie under their wings. It was endearing to read.
Some great plot twists and turns all added to that. Making for a brilliant read. Oh and some of the crossover characters from other series was just a fab addition for me. Loved It.
Wow! what a meeting. This author comes up with the most awkward but funny situations for the characters to make an impression on you. Loved this story and the introduction to the calendar boys. Wish Callie didn't have to get beat up and shot repeatedly. The situations never seemed to have any karma for the bad guys enough to keep them from coming back.
I thought sure Priest would have damaged him enough he'd be unable to do anything for the rest of his life but I guess Reign and being settled has calmed him down alot.
Still a good read, some very slow spots and a couple of "I saw it coming" moments when Callie failed to tell Blake or the others about the truth of her mom.

I did not read this story when it originally came out but this version is lots of fun! Blake and Callie cracked me up right from the very beginning. I also love the dynamic of the new friend group as well, and that we got some familiar faces from her old series. The way that everyone just welcomed Callie and protected her warmed my heart. Her bond with Marcus in particular really added to the story for me. The plot had lots of twists and turns that kept me guessing and some nasty villains that make you root super hard for their demise. I would have liked to see a bit more spice but overall a really fun book! Thank you Candice for the opportunity to read it!
I have read both MC club book series from Candice and loved them both. I saw that this is in the same ‘universe’ as the Underestimated series which I absolutely love. In this, Callie moves to a small town to escape from a life she doesn’t want. She meets Blake and they have a connection immediately. He introduces her to his security team and they are all enanmoured of her too. Her past comes calling and they all vow to protect her. Reign and her guys from the Kings of Carnage MC make an appearance in this one. Not going to say why or how. Just know if you love those books, you’ll love this one. Candice knows how to write about strong, bad ass women and Callie is no exception!
I loved it!! Candice didn't disappoint. The plot, the characters, and everything in between was excellent!
Callie and Blake were perfect together. They had this natural chemistry and banter. The spice between them was hot!
At first the story started more like a romantic comedy. Then, holy cow, plot twist! There was danger, betrayal, action, and more!! I couldn't put it down!!
I also wanted say how much I love how the author always has a good group of side characters. The found family and brotherhood tropes make me so happy. This was a fantastic read with the perfect ending!
Why yes this is the same name of previously published book by this author. You may be thinking about not reading this one as you had already read the other. That would be a mistake. Because this new redone version features different events/names and is even more incredible than the original. Callie and Blake are amazing together! I love that while this book has some very hot spice it also had a great plot. The characters were even more developed than the original. This new version is so good and is a must add to my shelf!
Still good the second time around I enjoyed the banter and the fast wit, it sure made for some interesting giggles while reading in the middle of the night and conversations the next day as to why I was up late lol Yes there was carnage and bloodshed but isnt there always in Candices 📚 books. That’s what makes her tales so good 😊 especially when it brings the Alpha male to his knees for his woman and will do anything to protect them. I’m never disappointed, Anything with Candice’s name I’m buying it to read !!
This was the sweetest book I have read in so long. I was genuinely laughing through the first half. Scared as hell through the middle, and crying tears of joy at the end. The love they have for eachother is a love written to be so pure but besides the whole crazy stalker i’ll kill you part is also a realistic love. I had such a bad feeling going into this book that I wouldn’t have been a fan but genuinely i think the writing and story telling of callie and blake couldn’t be better.
Fantastic Read, Absolutely brilliant. Callie thinks she has escaped her past. Finally finding somewhere to settle. Moving into her new home, an unfortunate incident leads her to meet her next door neighbours grandson. Blake intrigued by her Grandmothers neighbours job and personality is immediately hooked. Unfortunately Cassies Past catches up to her, like it always does and mayhem and chaos ensue. I absolutely loved this story and could not put this down. I can't wait to read the next one.
I was entranced with this book from page one. The banter and laughs started immediately and I was hooked.
In Cautious, the romance is oh so sweet even with a few hiccups. The plot though was dark as family betrays Callie and a man is out to make her his wife no matter what.
There’s action, heartbreak, moments that had me holding my breath while I feared what would happen. It was a fantastic but hard ride to their HEA.
I loved all the guys that work with Blake and the relationships they formed with Callie. A true found family.
Wow this is an amazing book! Callie wants a safe place to land and call home. She never imagined that she would get a family along with it. Blake owns his own business and is happy with life. Until one day he runs into a quiet girl with a spilled box on the ground. Helping her pick up everything he knew his life was gonna change, especially when he found her when he went to check on his grandmother. This book had me glued from start to finish.
Absofreakinglutely in love with this book. I laughed so hard at the beginning feeling a kinship to Callie, that my daughter immediately downloaded the book and started in!
Rollercoaster high drops, things that make you go hmmm and steamy scenes are all part and parcel of this authors grand scheme of things and the book does not disappoint. I think I got whiplash on the one and hope there is more to come!
I had read Cautious when it was part of the shared world so it was nice to go back and catch up with beloved characters.
The plot didn't change from what I remember so I knew what to expect going in and I still had a great time. Callie is funny and sweet without being a doormat and her meeting with Blake is still one of my most favorite in romance history. I would so love to be friends with her.
Lots of laughter, action and romance. Can't wait for more stories about the Calendar Boys !
Wright always seems to have the ability to surprise me with the plot and craziness that ensues within her stories and Cautious was no exception. I seriously couldn’t put it down, or maybe I just didn't want to. Callie and Blake have an incredible connection from the very beginning. There is banter, action, delicious spice, and even connections to the massive world Wright has created. I don't think I'll ever get enough!
I enjoyed this book overall, especially the secondary characters. They’re a big part of why I’m looking forward to continuing the series.
What didn’t quite work for me were some of the more predictable elements in the plot. A few plot points also felt a bit jumbled or incomplete, which might be due to this being a re-edited version of the original. Still, it was a fun read with potential for even better things to come as the series continues.
I loved the story of Callie and Blake. There were so many parts that I laughed at. The side characters were amazing also. This will definitely end up in my too read again pile. Candice Wright has done an amazing job with each and ever book she has done. Can't wait to see what she has in store for her next book.
I can always count on Candice to give me a story filled with love, laughter, and action! Callie and Blake are both slightly broken and together make each other complete. But wow, do they have some unexpected bumps along the way. I also love how characters from other series tie into this book, but it can also be read as a standalone.
WOW 🤩 what an amazing story!! It was captivating. Blake and Callie are hilarious and there love story is brilliant ❤️ I also loved how it interacted with the KOC 🙂 I’m seeing so many characters and stories in the future I love it!
Let’s just start by saying I need this grandma in my life she is the best. This book was so hot and steamy and the fire between these two is amazing. He is so alpha for her and the danger didn’t see him coming to protect her.
Oh my, yes I really loved Callie; she's great, and Blake is delightful! I that there is a reading for a shared world, allowing me to enjoy more while we wait for the next part of well-written series of standalones. Callie and Blake set the flow perfectly with amazing chemistry, and I devoured it!
Goodness! I love this book, plus it’s connected to the Kings of Carnage books which are amazing! This story of love and heartache is awesome- the epilogue is the sweetest!
I loved this book, but I really love this author. This was a cute, kinda insta love book. June is great, and I wish I had a granny like her! I cannot wait for the rest of the books, need to know what happens to the rest of the guys.
When I say Cautious by Candice Wright grabbed me by the throat and refused to let go... I mean it. Small town? Check. Sassy heroine? Double check. Hot security guy ready to burn the world down for his girl? Triple-dog dare you to resist. Plot twists, danger, found family, and a connection so spicy it should come with a warning label. I laughed, I gasped, I seriously considered moving to Tempest. Read it. Love it. Thank me later.
