A wordless picture book that tries to portray the impact a new baby will have on the first child.
There are scenes where the new baby is obviously dominating, with everyone giving presents and cooing. But there are also scenes where mum and dad get to spend some alone time reading to the older brother.
Also begins to introduce ideas like breastfeeding and baby-wearing which might concern the older brother.
A useful tool in the arsenal of those with "number 2" on the way.
I loved this book. After checking it out i actually took it home and read the book to my new niece. This is a wordless book that told a great story. This could be a good book to read to children who are going to be new siblings. I feel like this book is also very helpful to prepare for the birth of a new child. I loved this book and pictures and who recommend the book to others.
Very adorable and perfect for the season of life my family is in. I have been using this book to try help prepare my toddler for the imminent arrival of his new sibling.
I love this book. I would give it more stars if I could. It's a wordless picture book showing some activities a toddler/preschooler older sibling might experience after the birth of a new baby. This is my third time reading it to my youngest before a baby comes and they have all loved it and I refer back to it when the baby is here. ("Remember in the baby book how the mama had to sit down and nurse the baby? That's what Mama is doing now. Do you want to show her a toy like the big brother did in the book?") The mother nurses, which is not always easy to find in picture books, and you can tell it however you want, emphasizing things true in your own life. It's out of print now but it's worth buying used. My almost-two-year-old gets excited just seeing it and stares at it for whole tens of minutes at a time.
This was one of my favorite books to "read" to Isaac when I was pregnant with Elise (and I never paid attention to the author at the time - so when I found it at the library today I had to jot it down and add it on goodreads). It was one of the few books that I found really helpful to prepare him to be a big brother. There just aren't very many books about a "new baby" written for young toddlers (Isaac was 18 months when Elise was born) - so this picture board book (no words) was perfect for him! We just looked at the pictures together and talked about all of the things that were happening in the pictures. We both enjoyed it. I recommend it.
This seems to be a decent book to alert our son to the impending arrival of his baby brother. In particular, he is drawn to the notion of "presents", but it's a good way to talk through what's coming up, especially for parents of a boy who are expecting another.
