Chaz can make a perfect latte, but can he handle her imperfect truth?

Alexandra Townsen has spent her life chasing perfection. As the heiress to Townsen Industries, expectation and obligation have dictated her every move. But a quiet coastal town offers her a chance to breathe and simply be. Here, she’s just a woman with a camera and a month to figure out what she truly wants. Meeting a husky cafe owner with a dimpled smile, the voice of a god, and a talent for charming latte art wasn’t in her plans.

Chaz Delgado doesn’t fall halfway. When he wants something, he’s all in—and from the moment Lexie walks into his cafe, he’s drawn to her. What starts as playful banter over coffee and photography dates turns into late-night sexual explorations and a growing connection, deeper than either of them expected. She brings light to his darkness. He makes her feel accepted just as she is.

But Lexie is keeping secrets—ones that tie her to the painful past Chaz can’t let go of. When the truth finally comes out, he’ll have to decide whether to hold onto his pain and anger or take a chance on a love that could set him free.

I write diverse, body positive romance because ALL women deserve a sexy love story.

As a recovering yo-yo dieter who has struggled with body image, I channeled those experiences into my debut novel, Fat Girl, and its conclusion, A Naked Beauty. Sadly, I think most women, regardless of their weight or size, can identify with some aspect of body insecurity and self-doubt. I am inspired by the theme of loving yourself and discovering your own intrinsic worth. I want to bring my readers stories that are real, relatable, and entertaining—where strong characters with tough battles and troubled pasts tug at your heartstrings, turn you on, and have you cheering for a beautiful, forever love.

Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, I’m now a proud adopted Canuck, living in Calgary, Alberta, with my husband and daughter. The winters are frigid, but the sun shines 335 days of the year. Tanning in a parka—it happens! Most nights, you will find me in my home office, or on those cold nights, in front of the fireplace, tapping out the many stories in my head.

I liken writing a great romance to a box of Godiva. Decadent and delicious! You can’t stop at just one. xo

I was hooked from the beginning and stayed up way too late reading the first half, as one is known to do. I finished it the next day as soon as I was able.

What I discovered was a wonderfully relatable story that I didn't want to end. I could see so much of myself in Lexie (hello, parental issues and meeting that cinnamon roll that shows you what love is). I loved reading her journey to finding herself and seeing her finally stand her ground. And Chaz! Chaz Delgado is the book boyfriend we all need. He is such a great protector and provider. It was so good to see them care for each other, grow, and learn along the way.

The side characters were an important part of the story and not just extra fluff. Of course, there is the usual third act turmoil, but that is to be expected in a romance novel. It is a crucial part of the story, so it's needed, as much as we all loathe them. The book is open-door and a bit spicy, but very well written. It's not over the top, shock value content.

One of my favorite things in the book were all the notes from Chaz. They were corny, but so good! Plus, there are chapter titles! Those need to make a comeback. I didn't realize how much I missed them.

I received an ARC of this book, but these opinions are my own. I highly recommend this book! I look forward to reading more by this author. I would like to thank the author, Leigh Carron, for allowing me the privilege of reading her work. This was my first ever ARC, and I will forever be grateful that she took a chance on me as a reader. ❤️

This romance novel was full of love and passion and a couple that ends up together after overcoming obstacles. I love that Chaz was instantly attracted to and interested in getting to know Lexie better and that he was willing to spend quality time with her with the hopes that she would realize that she wanted a relationship with him. There is some angst and drama but it’s all worth it. Thank you to Leigh Carron and Happily Booked PR for the opportunity to read an arc early for my honest review.

Okay, let’s talk about Chaz Delgado: tatted, bearded, coffee king with a voice that could melt you on the spot. Seriously, if you’re not swooning, are you even reading?

This book is a slow burn, but not in the frustrating will-they-won’t-they way. Nope. Lexie and Chaz get hot early on—think sensual, deeply intimate moments that let Lexie fully embrace her body and her desires. And Chaz? He’s not just a pretty face. He’s the patient, understanding hero we all deserve. He knows when to step up for Lexie, when to hold back, and when to turn up the heat.

Chaz is a big guy. Thick, husky, and confident as hell in his own body. Lexie loves every inch of him, and honestly, it’s so refreshing to see a hero who owns his size with pride. It’s a body-positive win we don’t see enough of in romance! Chaz embodies owning your space—and I’m here for it.

This book isn’t just about the chemistry (though, hello, it’s there). Lexie’s anxiety is represented with such raw honesty that it felt deeply relatable. And what really got me? Chaz’s unwavering support. He’s not just a book boyfriend; he’s the kind of hero who truly sees his partner—giving space when needed, stepping in when necessary, and making sure Lexie always knows she’s enough. And let’s not forget: the man sings. Whether it’s playful coffee shop serenades or the kind of stripped-down, soul-deep music that makes you feel something, Chaz brings the same intensity to his music as he does to loving Lexie. He’s got a soft side that’s all patience and care, but when it comes to those sexy moments… let’s just say, the man delivers.

This book is the perfect mix of sizzling chemistry, real emotional growth, and a hero who makes you believe in love that’s both gentle and intense. You’ll be obsessed with their journey from start to finish—and Chaz’s coffee puns? Absolutely adorable.

Thank you to the author and Happily Booked PR for the eARC.

I’m so enjoyed this book! Chaz is a gem! I love his gentle giant personality that hide a past of pain and anger. Lexie has hidden who she is under the the weight of family expectations. In an effort to be her own person this story explores how her anxiety has muted her ability to truly connect with another person.
This slow burn romance with kept secrets had me reading so fast at certain parts. My reading stressed spiked at the 70% mark and didn’t come down till 87% mark. The book include Latte recipes!

My favorite tropes in the book:
* Meet cute-to-Friends-to-Lovers
* Hidden Identity
* Anxiety rep
* Found Family Feels
* Interracial romance
* Golden retriever w/ BIG D energy
* Sexplorations
* Slow burn

Thank you Happily Booked PR and Leigh Carron for the opportunity to ARC this beautiful story.

Chaz is a gorgeous, big and strong cinnamon roll MMC, owner of a hip and trendy cafe in a small town. He’s content with his life, but has yet to make peace with the anger he holds from his past. Lexie is a beautiful and tall (love the tall girls!) FMC who has left the big city, in need of a break and to reevaluate her life. As soon as her eyes lock onto handsome Chaz in his cafe, something in her shifts and is eager to break out. A great strangers to lovers tale with a HEA.
A ridiculously hot story with super spicy lessons for a timid FMC, gives you all the feels and touches you emotionally too.

Received an ARC of this book and wow! My first book by Leigh and will definitely not be my last!

I have completely and totally fallen in love with Chaz, what an absolute DREAM of a man!

Where can I find my own Chaz, that will do latte art & leave me little love notes with my coffee?!
Leigh wrote Lexie’s anxiety like she was in my brain. I really resonated with Lexie’s feelings during a couple of scenes.

10/10 recommend this book. Spice level is around a 2, maybe a 3 but still absolutely loved it!

I loved this book so much. Chaz Delgado was absolutely everything I could want in an MMC and Lexie was almost painfully relatable. This story was cozy and warm with found family small town vibes, and the writing was beautiful and engaging. I loved that the conflict felt real and not over exaggerated unrealistic drama, and the characters were real fully rounded people who had their own flaws and strengths etc. There was plenty of spice without it feeling like it was unnecessary or gratuitous, and the body positivity was excellent. And once again I will say, Chaz Delgado was everything- sensitive, strong, sexy, kind, funny, real- just all of the things. After reading this book all I want to do is devour everything Leigh Carron has written.

I had an advanced copy of this book and I just devoured it over a cold snowy weekend, thinking I was in Bayside watching Chaz and Lexie’s story unfold. Leigh Carron has shifted her writing in this book as Lexie needs more time to be find her sexuality and Chaz takes his time helping her to find it. The characters are developed so well you feel emotionally and physically connected to them. You yearn for them to come together and stay together even when life gets messy and ‘truths’ come to light that have the characters question if they can be together. But don’t worry, as with all Leigh Carron novels the spice and heat are all there….the heats builds from a slow burn to a raging fire. And the body positive writing is there, with a male focus on body positivity which is so refreshing to read and think about as there tends to be a focus of female body positivity. I challenge you to put this book down once you have started it!! Oh and Leigh keeps us wanting more by building up feisty and highly entertaining supporting characters that you just can’t wait to sink in to their stories!!

Huge thank you to the author and Happily Booked PR for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

I have officially found my second five star read of the year 🥳 I loved this book so much, truly didn’t have a single complaint or thing I’d change! I loved the spicy explorations and the mental health storylines!

This book follows Lexie Townsen, heiress to her father’s company, who takes respite in a quiet costal town on a healing journey where she meets Chaz, a cafe owner and musician with whom she forms a connection. Lexie’s hidden identity pose major threats to this connection.

The most intriguing for me was the ending storyline that connects back to Lexie’s past and hidden identity! It’s hard for me to pick a favorite character, but I loved Chaz and Lexie both as well as Sophia (also, begging on my knees for a Sophia and Chloe book omg)!

I loved the ending so much! I loved that it worked out differently that I was expecting as a reader but worked out to some extent nonetheless. A big takeaway from this book is to never settle in any regard and I absolutely love that!

My first book by this author and it won’t be my last!
What pulled me into this story was the MMC.
Chaz is Afro-Latino, chubby, tatted, bearded and he can SING yall 😍 *SWOON*
Lexie and Chaz have this electric pull from the beginning and i absolutely loved how their relationship developed throughout the story 💜
The best thing about this book, is that it felt REAL.
Lexie felt “sexual broken” and unlike other books, the MMC didn’t magically solve her intimacy issues in one encounter. Chaz took the time to understand Lexie and make an effort 🥰Chaz’s sweet little notes under her lattes was the cutest thing!
-the only thing I would’ve liked to know going in, is that there are some interconnected characters from the authors previous books. I don’t think it mattered too much because I wasn’t lost in this story. Personally I just love knowing the characters backstory’s in each book, so I’ll most likely check out the authors previous books!
Honestly this is an amazing book and I would definitely recommend 🖤

AN IMPERFECT TRUTH is a standalone story that follows Lexie as she leaves the 'big city' to a small town in the hope of becoming more comfortable with herself and the choices she makes. Once there, she meets Chaz, the owner of the cottage she's renting and someone who gets her heart pumping from their very first meeting.

The question of whether or not Lexie and Chaz will get together is never in doubt. The issue runs deeper than that, with Lexie not being completely honest with Chaz, for reasons and timing that were completely understandable. Also, Chaz does have a bit of a blind spot where certain names and companies are involved.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable story, with plenty of character growth. The world-building was clear and the pacing was smooth. Definitely recommended.

An Imperfect Truth was a great read. We follow Lexie as she takes six weeks off to go to a lakeside town to get away from her hectic life in Chicago. Her family owns a major corporation and she's tired of being their pawn. In town she meets Chaz, owner of the local cafe. They both are instantly attracted to the other but Lexie wants to take things slow. They spend several weeks going on friend dates and getting to know each other. They finally decide to go all in and Chaz helps her gain confidence in herself. When she learns that her family's company and his family go back, she's afraid to tell Chaz who she really is. Can they work it out?

First of all thank you to Leigh Carron for sending me this eARC. I confirm all thoughts and views within this review are honest and my own.

Wow! This was the first book I’ve read by Leigh and I was not disappointed! I was initially drawn to this book because of Chaz being a plus size/curvier MMC, something which I think is extremely lacking in the world of romance novels, so I was super excited and eager to read this. It was like the universe answered my prayers and proved that you can absolutely go gaga over a bigger guy and that they undoubtedly can get the girl too!

Chaz as a character had me hooked from the start! He’s charming, charismatic, musical, creative and just oozes sexiness with his manner, tattoos and protective nature. He’s a guy you know you can feel safe with, and although may seem intimidating on the outside to some, is a huge soft teddy bear on the inside - though if anyone hurts anyone he cares about, he will unleash his fierce Black Panther!

Like Lexie (the FMC), Chaz has some past trauma too and their struggles and experiences is what I felt was the core importance of this book. Lexie struggles daily with anxiety and feels she is broken, and Chaz has been through some really tough things which meant he had to grow up fast and become a parent to his younger sister. Because of this I found him to be so emotionally intelligent and intuitive, which was so endearing and attractive.

Together they both learned to navigate each other and openly explore intimacy. I think the honesty and open dialogue between them was so healthy and highlighted that intimacy between people can be slow and explorative, without pressure and that it’s completely ok to go at whatever pace feels comfortable to you, and set boundaries. A loving and caring partner would want you to feel comfortable and safe, and I absolutely loved that about Chaz. He showed Lexie a completely different way of life and appreciation for being yourself. It was a beautiful pairing and I was rooting for them all the way.

Aside from anxiety and grief, this book also touched on the very important topic of sexual harassment/ coercive behaviour and sexual assault. All very heavy themes but spoken about and dealt with in a delicate but informative way. Therapy was also highlighted, and not just for one character but for multiple for different reasons and that really impressed me as I feel mental health is so important, and therapy can be such an amazing tool into helping people unpack trauma and aid their healing.

The only thing I felt this book could have done with is being a bit clearer with whose POV we were reading at the start of each chapter. I could gather who I was reading about after a few lines, but having either ‘Chaz’ or ‘Lexie’ along with the chapter numbers would have made it a little easier to follow.

Other than that, and a few phrases during some of the spicy scenes that weren’t my bag lol, I loved this book and look forward to reading about Dice and Lot in the next book!

This is the first book that I have read by Leigh Carron.

It was a cute story and was easy to read. I liked the fact that the story included plus size characters, as well as touching on the theme of anxiety. More importantly, the book touched on the important subject of workplace harassment.

But I didn’t personally warm to either Lexie (the FMC) or Chaz (the MMC). In fact it got to the point where Chaz began to give me the ick. He was very full on and overbearing with Lexie, which totally put me off him.

The first thing that let the book down for me was that the whole Lexie and Chaz story felt rushed from start to finish. Lexie had just arrived in town and within pages, Chaz is obsessed with her and calling her wifey. In addition, I’m no prude but seriously, some of the language used in the ‘sex’ scenes was just cringeful and by the end, laughable. So maybe I’ve realised that romance and major spice are just not for me.

Barista’s kiss 💋
I love Leigh’s stories because she has this amazing talent of creating characters that resonate with me and make me feel seen in ways I’ve never read before.

Lexie is different from me but her anxiety is a quality we both share. It’s portrayed with such real, raw vulnerability, it’s truly refreshing to read. And, even though I may not deal with mine the way Lexie does, there are similarities and it’s amazing to have that representation.

Other than Lexie’s anxiety she is a relatable character, maybe not her background but that pressure from family, the desire to people please, causing you to put on a mask and hide your true self and desires, struck a chord with me. I loved her strength and growth throughout and, even though I’m older, it does make me believe that my own Chaz is out there.

Oh, my days! I can’t even express how much I’m in love with Chaz. He is my new book boyfriend. The holy grail of what I want and need in a partner. And what’s even better is he isn’t perfect. There’s no pretence he is because he has his own demons and past that he is hiding from (without realising it). And, like he does for Lexie, she helps him face them.
Also, he is chubby!! I love chubby guys and don’t think I’ve read a book with a chubby MMC. I want more! I find chubby men sexy and with tattoos? I’m in heaven! 😍

Lexie and Chaz are gorgeous together and I loved how their relationship & chemistry blossoms. Those non-dates, the lattes all of it. It’s perfection and made me smile. ♥️

And, of course, we have our favourites from previous books (you don’t have to read them as this is a standalone but you really should) and the introduction of 2 new ones, Lot & Dice, whose story I can’t wait to read.

This is my kind of spice. 🌶️ It’s raw, sexy, steamy, tender, passionate, desperate, real and so much more. 🥵 There’s no scene that feels fake, forced or just there for the sake of it.

Leigh’s writing is phenomenal. The story, characters, setting and everything is so beautiful crafted you feel all the emotions. The scenes and smells come alive and you are there, in the cafe, with Lexie & Chaz fully invested in their love.

Finally, It deals with an important and serious topic in a sensitive and honest way.
Content warning for Sexual Harassment.

Thank you so much, Leigh, for not only giving me the gift of an arc but the gift of the story itself. I loved it.
Thank you also for sharing part of your own experiences. You are inspiring. 🧡

An Imperfect Truth, serves up a delightful blend of romance, charm, and raw emotion, making it a must read for fans of slow-burn, feel-good love stories. Lexie, a big city girl trying to carve out her place in the world, and Chaz, a small-town boy with a heart of gold and a passion for coffee and music, steal the spotlight in this beautifully written romance.
This story begins when Lexie stumbles into Chaz’s cozy coffee shop while she's on her six week find-yourself holiday. Chaz, with his chubby, tatted, and bearded appearance, is instantly captivating.
Their coffee and photography dates give their budding relationship an organic and sweet progression, as Lexie’s love for photography pairs perfectly with Chaz’s latte art skills.

As their connection deepens, the romance follows the slow burn trope masterfully, allowing Lexie and Chaz’s feelings to grow at a natural pace. The dynamic between them is both tender and intense, and their hidden identity moments (particularly around their pasts and fears) add intrigue, keeping the readers hooked.

Lexie’s anxiety rep is sensitively portrayed, adding an authentic layer to her character. Chaz’s unwavering support of her throughout her emotional struggles, coupled with his protective vibes toward her, create a deeply supportive and understanding relationship. He’s the kind of guy who is always there when she needs him most, but never in a way that feels overbearing or dismissive of her independence.

And well... when the sexplorations come into play, the tension between the two is palpable, and the scenes are written with a balance of steam and emotional connection, making each step forward in their relationship feel earned.

Their interracial romance is not only a central part of the story but also handled with depth and care, touching on the nuances of race and cultural differences while still celebrating the beautiful connection between the two. Their love transcends the expectations of those around them, proving that love doesn’t have any boundaries.

An Imperfect truth is a book about growth, love, vulnerability, and the magic of finding someone who sees you for who you are. With a relatable, lovable hero and a strong-willed heroine, this story will stay with readers long after they’ve turned the last page.

I was kindly sent an arc from the author and I’m super greatful. This was one of my highly anticipated reads of 2025! I really REALLY loved Chaz. I have never been so jealous of a FMCCCCCC. Safe to say I wanted her man “I don’t need to be inside you to make love to you” is my new favorite line. If my man doesn’t say that to me…I DONT WANT HIMMMM! lol but on a serious note I really enjoyed this. I’m not always in the mood for a contemporary story but this was so adorable. It was a good amount of corny mixed with serious topics. I enjoyed their little dates and time exploring with each other. I loved that there was a partner that wasn’t as experienced. I feel like a lot of stories have people who just know what to do and that’s not always the case so I really appreciated that! I also enjoyed how we got to know both characters and their close people. I didn’t feel like too much was lacking in getting to know the characters. I wish we could have explored more of the trauma of Chaz and why he feels he always needs to protect everyone and fix things but I’m glad we got a little something something. I did feel like he let some things slide with Lexie that bothered him that sometimes had me giving Lexie side-eye. I felt like he was so understanding and gave her space to be and sometimes she didn’t do the same in my opinion. I get she was overwhelmed but sometimes she lashed out at him and or dictated the flow of things without his thoughts in mind. I get that she apologizes and stuff but sometimes it felt inconsiderate. But they were just starting off their relationship so communication and stuff come with time. Overall, a great story. I felt anxiety, giddiness and jealousy all wrapped in one and can’t wait for Lot and Dice’s story🥰

“i felt like i was a puzzle of fragmented pieces. and then i met you. you saw the pieces in a way i couldn’t. you didn’t make me feel broken - you made me feel whole. you accepted me, loved me, just as i am”

oh what a beautifully cozy read this was. if you’re looking for a book with fall, autumn leaves, hot coffee, cozy blankets, warm sweater, cinnamon, heartwarming vibes, look no further than an imperfect truth. it is coziness and perfect comfort in a book. lexie and chaz are the sweetest pairing, a cinnamon roll mmc meets an anxiously unsure and inexperienced fmc. the chemistry, banter and gentleness between these two is nothing short of sweet perfection. the slow burn of this friends to lovers duo was just delicious.

leigh has done such a beautiful job of capturing and representing such a diverse range of characters, family dynamics and mental health challenges in such a respectful way. as someone with anxiety, i feel that her handling and representation was perfectly done. i also loved the dimension and depth this book surprised me with, adding a much more complex and leveled plot and storyline.

this definitely won’t be my last read from leigh !

thank you so very much to @leighcarronauthor and @happilybookedpr for providing me with an advanced reader copy of this story in exchange for my honest review. i hope you all love lexie and chaz’s story as much as i did ✨

People of Bookstagram, I nominate Chaz Delgado be elevated to the top tier of book boyfriends. This tattooed musician, cafe owner, and protective big brother makes beautiful latte art, writes sweet and corny jokes on napkins, and is the most consent-minded hero ever. Most importantly, he adores Lexie just as she is and views her as whole, never broken.

Lexie Monroe walks into Chaz's cafe one day and sees him perform for a group of customers. Immediately transfixed, she reminds herself she's not here for a fling, but to figure out her next steps. Having spent her entire life working to please others, a health scare forced Lexie to step back and evaluate her priorities. Her anxiety had also ratcheted so high that she suffered frequent tension headaches.

The anxiety rep in Leigh Carron's latest work was so spot on. Personally, I appreciated the prologue because it allowed me to prepare for the conflict without any spoilers. The complicated process of grief is also expertly handled. Chaz grieves the loss of his parents through a variety of emotions and actions.

Also...consent! This was SO well done! Chaz let Lexie establish boundaries he respected and refused to do anything without her enthusiastic consent. Perfection.

I received this book as an eARC in exchange for an honest review, and I’m SO GLAD I decided to sign up for Leigh Carron’s ARC team because this book is FANTASTIC.

I love the diverse (and I mean in terms of character appearances AND experiences) cast of characters in this book. Lexie’s development and her arc throughout this book were so realistic and easy to connect to for me, which really helped her character and the story come to life. And Chaz? Well, Chaz is just the ideal book boyfriend—caring, kind, compassionate, and attentive with some mad active listening skills (Seriously, can he teach the men in my life how to do that? lol) while also being seriously protective of those he loves.

The anxiety representation in this book was also raw and honest but handled with grace and intentionality. I love a strong FMC, but it’s so important to remember we all need a little extra support and love sometimes, too!

And the smut? *chefs kiss* Carron absolutely nailed quality, plot-driven intimacy in this one! Just be aware it IS open door spice, but it’s highly relevant for the storyline and, at times, deeply emotional and moving. I wouldn’t say this is a book where you’ll be able to get away with skipping over any intimacy if that’s not your thing, so keep that in mind and (as always) check for other trigger warnings!

I was hooked from the beginning, and I loved everything about this book! The characters' representations (anxiety, OCD, etc.) hit close to home, and I appreciated seeing that in a book. Lexie's anxiety was keeping her from truly connecting to someone else, but she found the right person at the right time to help her and I just loved it!

The chemistry between Chaz and Lexie was just at the top from the start! And I loved Chaz; the notes he gave Lexie were corny, but so cute, his personality was amazing... we love a man like him! The plus size rep in a man was *chef kiss*, I feel we see more plus size women in books, so this change just made the book feel more real/true to real life. I want him in my life hihi

Maybe the only thing that got on my nerves while I was reading was the fact that we didn't know whose POV we were reading each chapter until a few sentences in. I would have appreciated seeing the name of the character at the beginning, but instead we got coffee recipes and I cannot be mad about it!

*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review*

An Imperfect Truth is my first book by Leigh Carron, and I absolutely loved it! Chaz, a large plus-size male main character, initially drew me into this book! Chaz owns a coffee shop in a small town and has been taking care of his baby sister since he was 19. Lexie is running from her life of privilege and all of the problems to figure out what she wants out of life.

I had such a fun time reading this book; they have instant chemistry with their coffee shop and are cute. Leigh Carron did a fantastic job writing witty banter and care with the serious topics of this book but still making the book feel like a warm hug. Additionally, Leight Carron kept me on my toes throughout this book. Even with the precursor of what was to come in the prologue, I still was not ready for the twist and how everyone would handle it and overcome these problems. Often, with romance novels, we know they are going to have Happily Ever After, so it is easy to guess what is going to happen; however, with An Imperfect Truth, I was unsure of how Lexie and Chaz were going to rectify the issues. This book tackles themes of misogyny and assault in big industries. As well as the way they cover up problems, holding capitalism over human life and its impacts. Overall, I really loved and enjoyed reading this book and its representation, and I would recommend you read it, too!

*Thank you to Leigh Carron and Happily Booked PR for the ARC Copy.

What an amazing story!! Lexie and Chaz are beautiful characters and the journey they take in this book is compelling, intense and emotional.

Lexie is a woman raised by (soulless) parents who believe that nothing matters more than image and corporate success. She is expected to take over her father's company but she wants something different for her life.

Chaz is a man who had loving parents, but his dad died when Chaz was 12 and then his mother died when he was 19, which led to him abandoning his plan to move to Atlanta for his music and staying in their small town to raise his sister.

Lexie ends up on a six week soul searching trip in Chaz's small town. They meet at his cafe. There is a spark. (And a lot of doubt in Lexie's mind because anxiety.) Chaz asks her out. She says no. He offers friendship. She says okay. They spend time together. He learns her heart and mind and makes it safe to be herself. Things progress. And then they get complicated.

Lexie's anxiety was handled with such care and this story captured what can be experienced when you have an anxiety disorder. The way Chaz didn't push her but instead gave her & her anxiety space while also doing research into anxiety was amazing.

Their sexplorations were also handled with care. They were not gratuitous. They were intentional and furthered the story by revealing a layer of something significant - trauma, anxiety, history, etc. - and showing growth. (And giving everyone another reason to put Chaz at the top of their book boyfriends list)

Lexie and Chaz are both characters I fell in love with but Chaz is special. He is a hot, nerdy, sweet, edgy, punny, cool, musical, intelligent, caring dork. Swoon. And he is a good man.

(Oh, and Lexie's parents are trash. Absolute trash. I do not like them. I do not wish them well. I hope that they are having a miserable time and that every beverage they drink is the wrong temperature.)

I am so thankful for the opportunity to read it in advance and I cannot recommend this book enough. It is such a good story!

I was given the opportunity to read this story as an ARC and I have to say, I absolutely loved it.

We Met Chaz, a beautiful man who runs a café, but is also a singer song writer.

He lives in a small town, where he raised his younger sister.

Along comes Lexie, who came to this small town to get some much needed space from her family, and find herself, but in the process of this sweet meet cute, forms a very special connection neither Lexie, nor Chaz can deny.

But what is the Imperfect Truth that could impede their happy ending?

I devoured this book in practically one sitting whilst waiting for Tropical Cyclone Alfred, and it was such a lovely way to ease my anxiety. I smiled, I cried, I laughed. Such a beautiful story, and I can't wait to read more Leigh Carron's books.

Swooning over the fact that Chaz Delgado is such a great man who is always patient and kind and wanting to make sure everything is okay. Always on the lookout and making sure he is protecting those he loves 😍🙂‍↕️ the fact that he stayed consistently patient with Lexie and was there for her whenever she needed him (and if she even wanted to admit it) is a true gentleman!

Lexie is hiding/running from her past and figured that staying in Bayside Harbor would be the way to go. What she didn’t expect was to meet Chaz, and his sister Sophie, who are the kindest people in the world. Two siblings who have a close knit relationship, something she wishes she had with her own parents.

This is such a cute slow burn romance that demonstrates the efforts that Chaz makes in order to help Lexie realize what her true feelings are. And let’s not forget the way he loves to create new coffee drinks at the cafe and his cute silly puns 🙂‍↕️🫶🏽

“You drive away all the cold. With you I feel like a flower in spring, blooming, coming alive.”
“There was a darkness in me before you came along. You light me up, Blue. I’ve never felt this way before.”

An Imperfect Truth was a beautifully cozy and heartwarming read. The found family dynamic set against a small-town backdrop was so charming and comforting. The chemistry between Chaz and Lexie was absolutely magnetic. Chaz quickly became one of my favorite MMCs—his deep care for those around him, despite having experienced so much loss, was truly touching. And I couldn’t help but love him even more when I discovered he’s a Marvel fan (Same here, Chaz!). Lexie’s character was incredibly relatable, and I appreciated how her mental and physical health were thoughtfully portrayed throughout the story. It was done so beautifully. The spice in this book was top-tier, and the body positivity message resonated with me on such a deep level.

If you’re looking for a cozy, heartwarming small-town romance, this one is a must-read!
