HISTORY WILL UNRAVEL. DEATH WILL RISE. BLOOD WILL STAIN THE FOUNDATION OF NIMBRIA. WHO WILL SURVIVE? Redelvtum has fallen. The realms stand at the edge of war. And something far darker lurks beneath the chaos, waiting to seize control. Hyacinth never asked for this power, never wanted to bear the weight of a war that could consume them all. But fate is merciless, and with each passing day, the blood in her veins binds her tighter to a destiny she cannot escape. As armies gather and ancient powers stir, she is forced to make an impossible choice—cling to the love and the life she’s always wanted or become the weapon the realms need.
Ataliia is slipping further into darkness. Haunted by the war inside her mind and the monsters that walk free, she is losing herself piece by piece. Grief, rage, and the ghosts of her past claw at her throat, pushing her toward choices that cannot be undone. She tells herself she is still fighting for something—someone—but with every drop of blood she spills, she wonders if she is becoming exactly what she once feared.
Betrayal runs deep. Allies are not what they seem. As kingdoms fall and secrets find the light, Hyacinth and Ataliia must decide how far they are willing to go to protect the ones they love. But in a war where there is no room for mercy, where death is inevitable and sacrifice is the price of survival, one question remains:
My name is Hallah Mikaela Wolfe and I am a writer based in Central Florida.
I am excited to announce that my debut novel, The Book Of Cin, will be released on September 14th, 2024.
When I am not writing, I spend time with my amazing husband and our two furry babies.
All my life I have written stories.
Whether it's in the form of music, shorts or poetry, I have used writing as a way to express the things I never felt I could say. I have novel after unfinished novel tucked away in the corners of notebooks and hard drives that will never see the light of day.
But then, my sister reintroduced me to fantasy novels and something clicked. I was finally able to put my story onto the page in a way that I felt would do it justice.
My heart and soul are in the characters I write. They hurt, they grow and they heal with me.
My only hope is, when you close my books after that last word-you felt a little magic.
I did, in fact, unravel reading this book. While I thought book 1 was a tearjerker, this one might’ve topped its predecessor if we’re being honest. If I wasn’t happy or sad sobbing, I was busy being emotionally wrecked/feeling vindicated by our bb girl Ata and her own journey. (Fellow Nesta stans and eldest daughters will eat this UP)
Wolfe manages to guide you through a roller coaster of emotions while being concise; you know what’s going on throughout your read while also being left on the edge of your seat the ENTIRE time. I literally can’t recall a dry spell in this book—shit was happening and it was phenomenal 🤌🏻
The SPOICE? Boots downnnn some of my fave hot pepper scenes to date I tell you HWHAT.
I alpha read this gem so I’m already a feral mess in anticipation for book 3 🥸 which is uhh not good in terms of how time works and stuff
Dark, emotional, and full of suspense. I am such a fan of this authors writing. The characters feel raw and real, and the emotional stakes keep you turning the pages. If you enjoy stories that balance pain with hope and highlight the strength it takes to overcome the past, this one’s worth reading. Read this if you enjoy found family, heavy plot, and amazing character development/growth.
So this book absolutely destroyed my life and I think about atleast twice a week. I can rate this book infinity stars cause it was that good. I loved book one IMMENSELY, but this book blew all expectations out of the water. Hallah injected this book with so much emotion that I’m pretty sure I cried 80% of my read. . The heart ache, angst, the UTTER RAGE was so damn amazing. The pacing, the break down, was so easy to follow and I felt it kept my attention perfectly (which is pretty hard to do lol). . The SPICEY HAD ME S(creaming), cause hot diggity damn, my panties fell off expeditiously. 10/10. . I had the greatest privilege of alpha reading this work of gold. Thank you so much my heart for trusting me with this book baby! . Also ef you Erika, I finished the book first 🫵🏻👹
I loved everything about this book. It was a story I was so invested in, that I found myself reading for hours not even realizing how much time had passed.
We get so much of Ata in this one. We experience the depths of her pain and grief, but we also get her path to healing. I related incredibly hard with Ata in the way she resorted to anger as a way to survive and cope. I have such a love/hate relationship when it comes to relating to an MC as much as I do with Ata, because it showcases all of my worst qualities. It reminds me of the pain I caused others with my words and actions but it also reminds me of how I have healed. It reminds me that there is always hope. Now if I can pull the men Ata does, that would be an added bonus (don’t tell my husband)
Just like in Book of Cin, we have the entire crew rallying around Ata, despite her anger, to help bring her back. I think there is so much beauty in that. I also love the rage in which these men have when any of the women they care about are underestimated or disregarded. We love the male feminine rage.
I found myself so attached to these characters and consistently worried for their wellbeing, which made the story very stressful lol
We get so much more insight into the world, the war, the plot, and an incredible amount of healing (and pain) with Blood Rains Down. Really good spice too 😉
Easily a 5 star read for me and I can’t wait to get my hands on book 3!
[EDIT] Well, I had typed a 4 paragraph review and it apparently never uploaded properly to Goodreads, so I’m going to do my best to cover everything again.
Favorite quotes: “I am no longer the same gentle, submissive creature you once knew. You are right about one thing, though. I will no longer die for my family. I will kill for them.”
“I am your God now. You pray to me, and I will not answer.”
“I’ll truly never understand men’s need to cling to power like it is their life’s breath.”
“There was something about books, about reading. The way you could disappear into them, hide between their pages for just a moment when the pain was too much.”
“The crumbling of my soul started at birth. I think that some women were born with despair in their veins and I was beginning to believe I was one of them.”
While there were some dark themes in The Book of Cin, this sequel was quite a bit darker. Expect grief, depression, rage, SA (never between love interests), and torture. I had a visceral reaction to some of these scenes. The highlights of this book to me were Ata and Andrues. I absolutely adore both of their characters individually, but their friendship and bond in this book was truly special.
ATA!! If you liked Nesta’s journey (ACOSF), you’re going to love Ata. If you couldn’t stand Nesta, you’re going to love ATA lol… At the beginning of BRD, Ata is struggling with grief, self-loathing, dark thoughts, and self-destructive behaviors. While she does lash out a few times, she is well aware that her behavior towards her friends is wrong and she feels immediate regret, which is not something I really got from Nesta’s character. Ata, even while struggling and acting out, is still such a relatable and likeable character. I loved seeing her character’s strength and growth throughout this book.
Andrues is my new favorite character. He must be protected at all costs. Dark, broody, super hot, supportive and loyal. I love the trauma bonding in this book and I just constantly want more of his backstory.
There was still plenty of Cin & Landers in this book and yes, Cin still cries a lot. I really love their relationship and I appreciate that Cin is still having gradual character growth and learning to stand up for herself. She’s slowly becoming more powerful and learning more about her past and her abilities. I actually appreciate that she isn’t instantly amazing at everything and instantly becomes a badass after years of emotional and physical abuse and being demoralized. There is actually realistic progression for the character and story without dragging on forever. I can’t wait for the next book!
---------------------------------------------------------------------- I’ll type a review tomorrow. For tonight, I’ll be screaming into the void because WTF was THAT?! Ma’am, how dare you?
I took my sweet time savoring every last moment of this book. I thought the first one turned me into a sobbing mess, but I think this one really did me in. I am WRECKED! Ata’s POV and her journey through grief and anger added a depth to this story that left me feeling all sorts of ways. I stayed up late finishing this and am at a loss for words this morning. Also, the men in these books… whoa… please don’t EVER make me choose. 🔥
✨ Blood Rains Down by HM Wolfe 🐺 The Stories, Book 2 ✨ Releases 6.30.25 🐺 Availble on KU
The Book of Cin was one of my favorites earlier this year and I have been dying for this sequel! It did not disappoint! It starts shortly after the end of TBOC so we don’t miss any action.
Ya’ll my excitement when I realized we got Ata’s POV 🥹 Her and Cin, as friends, as individuals, are just incredibly crafted characters and I love that we got them both. All their pain, rage, love, strength. All of it. I fell even more in love with these characters.
Wolfe had me theorizing and guessing the entire time and I’m happy to report I was wrong for 99% of them 😂 I love that I was kept on my toes and didn’t see the big things coming until it was too late to emotionally prepare! I need to also give a moment for the romance and spice in this book. It was on point.
What a fabulous sequel! I would reccomend a reread of TBOC before diving if it’s been a bit! I love this series and I can’t wait for book 3! Thank you so much to HM for an ARC of this book- it was my pleasure to read and give my honest review!
What you can expect: ✨ Dragons 🐺 Witches & Magic ✨ Feminine Rage 🐺 Hurt/Comfort ✨ Grief & Trauma rep 🐺 “Who did this to you?” ✨ Hair washing
I’m still wondering how a human can feel every emotion known to man in the span of a single book ?!?!
For fans of The Book of Cin, WELCOME BACK and buckle up! We all know Hallah can weave a story with such ease and finesse and BRD is no exception!
This book explores the political ploys and impending war TBOC left off on. This book explores grief, love, hatred, fear, and anger through both Cin and Ata’s POVs. Our found family is put through challenges they don’t know how to overcome and have to lean on each other (and unexpected people 👀) to formulate their plans and survive.
Time to stare at a wall until the next book comes out because WHAT DO YOU MEAN?!
H.M Wolfe does it again. I had to give this a few days to process everything before I could write this review so much happened! God do I love this series. From the moment I read the dedication I was in! For my readers. For the ones who faced hell and clawed their way back to the light. How does the blood of your demons taste? ❤️🫣☺️
This book destroyed me and I haven't stopped thinking about it since finishing. I am already planning on a reread soon. Let's start from the top one of the most unique storytelling parts of this book was that it was dual POV from two female main characters. This took a standard story telling aspect and made it fresh and new without making it awkward. Hallah is a master at intertwining story lines, getting you to feel every feeling, having high stakes, and keeping you on the edge of your seat.
In book one I was ecstatic for Cin's growth and cheered, cried, screamed and squealed at the journey. As Cin grew even more into herself in book 2 I did the same however there was so much depth along with the growth. What I was not expecting was the ARC for Ata. Ata's character development and struggles throughout this book are 👨🍳💋 Honestly her story had so many ups and downs and she demands a certain ability to raise others up and want to do better as can be seen by the men who are drawn to her. I cannot wait to see how she continues to grow and change.
The expert way Hallah writes strong female characters who are full of rage and power which is crafted from their life experience and not just because is amazing. The spice is next level and I am already counting down the days to book 3.
Thank you H. M Wolfe for this amazing ARC, all opinions are my own.
💕💕Quotes I cannot stop thinking about💕💕 - “But I do know if we don’t have truth, if we don’t have trust—we have nothing. Love, no matter how great it is, is not enough.” - “We are friends” “Then kiss me as your friend, but kiss me either way.” ✨✨ONTO THE REVIEW✨✨ Ugh I loved this book SO SO SO SO MUCH!! I believe this series is going to become an instant recommendation for whenever anyone asks me for fantasy book recs! This story is the second book following Book of Cin and it picks up right where we left off! We get a lot more acquainted with Ata in this book who has honestly become my favorite character I am however wondering if she ever gets a break because she goes through so much 😩😩 If you want a fantasy series that is going to put you through every single emotion known to man and then having you discovering some new emotions you’re going to want to pick this series up! The spice 😮💨😮💨 the angst 😩🤌 the banter between characters ‼️‼️ and there is also kind of a love triangle going on that I’m hoping turns into a why choose because I can’t possibly choose 🤪 anyways do yourself a favor and read Book of Cin and the Blood Rains Down okay? Love you byeee
I absolutely loved Blood Rains Down! This is the second book in The Stories Series following The Book of Cin (another epic romantasy you should read if you haven't!). It picks up a few months after the end of book 1, giving the characters a little reprieve from their adventures in TBOC.
So first of all, this book is chock full of action, angst, trauma, romantic tension, spice & of course added banter. All the things that make the perfect dark romantasy. I loved Cin's growth in book 1, and while she still is battling some of her inner insecurities, it was so good to see her stand up for herself and become a true leader in this one. Her relationship with Landers is as perfect as ever, though not without some trials. Landers is just the best supportive man for Cin and I love their dynamic so much!
My absolute FAVORITE part of BRD though was the added POV of our girl Atalia! Ata is a fierce, BADASS woman but she is going through it and it breaks my lil heart. Nesta fans will fall in LOVE with Ata, they are soul sisters and I need an alternate reality where they team up and kick ass 😂 Her journey was so raw and real and I 100% cried several tears while reading this book. Shocking, I know.
And while we still have all of the villains and sexy AF men from TBOC, we will meet more and lemme say HELLO to my new book BF Dukovich. You heard that right. I need more Duk in my life, thank you Hallah. You sent me into orbit with the lips line 😏
Get ready for more spice, more heartbreak and more badassery in Blood Rains Down! I already know I'm going to be unalived AGAIN when book 3 comes out.
Thank you so much to the author for the eArc to read and review!
I am unwell. I am at a loss for words for this book, the plot, the love, emotional distress, the heartbreak, it was just so good. I can’t believe what I just read…I need days to process this. Leave it to me to, again, to start a series that isn’t finished
It has taken me several days to recover after this book so I can write this review. I’m not surprised because book 1 was the same way, but goodness, it’s been a while since I’ve had a hangover like this! I’m still just so in my feels and impressed.
BRD is the second in Wolfe’s series The Stories. It begins shortly after where we left off from book one and immediately thrusts us into the fray. Wolfe is a magician and master when it comes to mental health rep & comfort, romance, love declarations, spice, and making you feel EVERYTHING. This story goes even deeper into the lore and meddling gods. It takes us on a TRIP y’all. There’s heartache, healing, so much hurt, rage, comfort, support, huge reveals, and both platonic and romantic love that is so beautifully done.
We follow two POVs, which are our two FMCs: Cin and now we get Ata! They are put through the ringer y’all, but seeing them grow through their immense hardships, experience unconditional love and grace, and begin to forgive themselves was so intricately done. Immersive. That’s what I can truly say. I was in the book with them. I felt with them. That being said, read the trigger warnings so that your mental health is taken care of!
Book of Cin was one of my top reads of 2024 and book two is the same for 2025. I am fully dedicated to continuing this series. Wolfe has me hooked and after that ending, I’m in desperate need for more!
Tropes you may find in BRD are “stay with me”, political intrigue, mental health rep, established relationship, love triangle, multiple romances, “crawl to me”, high stakes, dragons, unique magic, to die for MMCs, feminine rage, medium high spice, cliffhanger, touch him/her and ☠️, forced proximity, “who did this to you”, comfort, and a dual POV.
Thank you so much for allowing me to be an arc reader for you again! I am SO thankful.
The sequel to Book of Cin did not disappoint! I do recommend refreshing your memory on Book 1 world building before getting into book 2 because there are lots of terms/names to recall. (But honestly how awesome is it to have such a unique world??)
Definitely must read this summer!! Down at the bottom of my review are some questions I still have and have some minor spoilers. • • • • • Things I loved: 1. Character development!! HM Wolfe’s characters feel so lived in and unique. You can tell each person was carefully crafted and I am so here for it! 2. Great plot line with intriguing twists. 3. Satisfying ending with a cliffhanger that makes me hungry for book 3 already! 4. Visceral imagery through the book that helps enforce what the characters are thinking and feeling. 5. The love triangle!! I don’t even know who to root for!! I love them both so much!! But I think I’m partial to Dukovich I mean…how can I not be? 🥵 • • • • • Minor critiques (mostly personal preference) 1. I thought a couple of plot devices were resolved too quickly and would’ve felt that they were a bit more satisfying if they were drawn out.
Ex 1: Taft’s ending. I’m glad the guy is gone and I really enjoyed how his story ended. That was really well done. But I think I would’ve expected maybe a little more internal voice from Cin from the beginning about him. We did get some of that when we saw her pacing in front of the jail and she says she’s done that multiple times. But maybe I would’ve liked a bit more to make the end of his chapter feel more satisfying?
Ex 2. Ata’s training with Yenne. She’s told to come back when she’s humble and it was like what—24 or 48 hours later? I think that entire subplot kind of took away from the training moment and maybe should’ve been done away with. • • • • • Questions I still have: 1. A hidden brother?!? What?! Chapter 26 took me out guys!! I’m so excited to learn more about him in book 3. I really hope that the mating bond somehow becomes relevant somehow and not some passing plot device that was briefly mentioned in book 2.
2. Differences between higher and lower magic. I would love some clarification on that.
I actually don’t even know where to start, I truly feel at a loss of words…but I have to try!!
Hallah is an INCREDIBLY gifted writer. I think what I loved so much is how poetic, gut-wrenching, and vulnerable scenes surrounding grief, mental health, and even sex (the most wholesome scenes that feel REAL and showcase LOVE!)!! she just has a way with words. I’m not just highlighting the banter (WHICH WAS INSANE AND SO MANY GOOD LINES, I CANNOT EVEN), I’m highlighting the powerful lines surrounding empowerment, rage, love, AND MORE.
I thought I would be prepared to read this and I was SEVERELY underprepared. SHE EVEN WARNS US WITH TRIGGER WARNINGS YET I AM STILL DEAD, DYING, DECEASED. this book has left me HAUNTED (in a good way mind you!!). the storylines, the character development, the world, the female rage, the badassery, the banter, the grief, the war, the EVERYTHING…it stays with you. this isn’t just a six star read, this isn’t just your typical romantasy book, this is a book on the ups/downs of friendship, the war you enact on yourself, coping mechanisms of grief, with powerful magic weaved throughout to make it the IDEAL romantasy…MY GOD I COULD GO ON. I fucking loved this book. this series has literally become everything to me!! i mean the power alone that Cin and Ata have?! TO DIE FOR. the men??? the men. DUKOVICH STANS RISE UP. I was HOLLLLLERING throughout this entire book because the banter is UNHINGED—and everything I wanted/needed. I will forever be screaming about this series because WTF. turns and twists galore, I mean look at my face, look at my initial video, like c’mon. you know those books where you’re like damn this hurts, EVERYONE READ IT, don’t you wanna be destroyed beside me??
friends, I can’t even put quotes because you just gotta trust me, READ it for yourself.
thank you, thank you, thank you forever for letting me read this in advance—I am LEGIT honored. here’s to more H. M. Wolfe books!! (I will take any morsel you provide the fanbase)
if you have not read Book of Cin or if you haven’t pre-ordered Blood Rains Down, you are making a mistake. I DEMAND YOU TO ADD IT TO YOUR LIST ASAP. when I tell you that Miss Wolfe is the next author, I mean she is THAT girl.
Blood Rains Down releasing on June 30th!! (kindle unlimited BABY!)
H M Wolfe has done it again!! I fell so hard for THE BOOK OF CIN and this one just came in even more hot! I truly believe this series needs to become an HBO show or movie.
The detail, the chemistry, the EMOTION in this book was so incredibly done. For a very intricate fantasy book it is one of the easiest to follow that I have read. You truly fall right into their world and no matter what is happening, who is involved, or how many pieces to the puzzle are at play I never got confused or overwhelmed.
I cried so many times but I laughed just as much. Ata, Cin’s bestie, played a really big role in this book and I had all kinds of feels for her. 😂 Sometimes I wanted to smack her and other times I just wanted to hold her. There were also some characters and connections in this book that I NEVER saw coming.
I think the beauty in this particular story was that there were a lot of learning moments that could be brought into real life. Hallah has such a way with words that is graceful yet pointed. She gets what she wants to get across without being forceful or in your face about it. There was also a lot of diversity in this story that I really appreciated and respected. It was another element that made this story feel so real.
I’m pretty sure at this point Hallah could not write a bad story if she tried and she will absolutely surpass the mainstream fantasy writers! These were her first two books and they were written as though she had been writing for a lifetime!
* Note: Must read the first book first and this one ends on an insane cliffhanger!!
I just finished an absolutely incredible book! It's a direct continuation of “The Book of Cin”, and I was completely blown away by it. The character development is phenomenal, and the world-building is so immersive. I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN.
The book takes you through such a compelling journey of heartache and healing. Despite the pain the characters endure, there are also moments of immense comfort and support. My emotions really ran the gamut while reading – I felt heartache, grief, healing, joy, and even found myself questioning myself haha. My heart is a bit liquified at the moment but in Hallah I trust that it will solidified in book 3. But truly this work is a work of art. Both “The Book of Cin”and “Blood Rains Down”serve as a gentle reminder that no matter what challenges life brings, "You will not break."
Hallah is an incredible storyteller & when I saw the opportunity to ARC Blood Rains Down, I jumped on it and starting filling out the form like Bruce Almighty. Haha. It’s truly an honor to been selected for this ARC, & a true honor to read your work. Your writing is a gift to this world, thank you from the bottom of my heart for this masterpiece. 🖤🖤🖤
I highlighted so many times in this book, so here are some of my favorites.
“I didn’t know if he truly understood that the way he loved me, healed parts of my soul I thought could never be mended.”
“Your scars are your trophies, your medals of honor from the battles you have faced and won.”
After the intensity of book 1, this one matches it and I daresay, exceeds it.
I love the writing and the realistic way the author writes about trauma and grief. It makes you feel there in the moment and like you are going along with the characters right as they experience it.
This book definitely had some twists and turns and sure sets things up for the war coming down upon them, but it really focuses on the characters. The relationships and connections made, the heartache, the loss, the love, the passion, the anger, everything. Everything was felt while reading this.
I loved the relationships being developed. Getting Ata's POV in this book let us explore everything going on with her and her magic, as well as the blossoming relationships between her and her guys. So far, it seems like a love triangle situation. Everyone seems possessive enough that I can't imagine it turning into a why choose (hopefully it won't).
The ending had a whole other gut punch to it and I'm in desperate need of book 3 already!
Read if you love: -Morally grey characters -Tension & Banter -Multiple POVs -Female rage & trauma -Found family -Healing from grief -Dragons
Thank you to the author for the eARC of this book. My thoughts are entirely my own.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I am speechless, and yet I feel like I have so much to say. This book was everything I hoped for, and everything I feared. I’m pretty sure I highlighted about 50% of this book. I adore these characters and The Book of Cin holds a special place in my heart. Since book one, Cin has continued to grow into a fierce badass while still managing to maintain her gentleness. I am not someone who cries over books, but HM writes her characters so well that I had to grab my tissues a few times. The development and the way that you can truly feel the emotions of each person is a testament to HM’s writing. This is a world I never want to leave, full of people who feel like family. The feminine rage that is expressed in this book is exquisite, and the grief these characters feel is raw and real and devastating. If you haven’t read book one yet, do yourself a huge favor and read it now so that you can read this a soon as it releases. You won’t regret it for a moment. War is here, and I can’t wait to see what is in store for us all.
Blood Rains Down is a worthy followup to The Book of Cin. There is so much character development, so much angst, tension, love, loss, devotion, loyalty, violence.
I love Landers unceasingly. This book gives us so much more depth to his relationship with Cin. His love for her is achingly beautiful. Their bond is truly unshakeable.
This book also gives us chapters from Ata’s viewpoint, and holy mother. What Cin was in book one Ata is x 10 in this book. So broken and haunted and tortured, but fierce and enraged. I absolutely love her character and cannot WAIT to see what comes after the last scene with her in this book.
Dukovich and Andrues have given me whiplash that I won’t soon recover from.
I would love more of Nithra, because what a force she is. We also met Cyloe in this book and I am still processing what became of her…
This series has dug its claws into me, and now I must endure this exquisite anguish until the next book comes out.
Wow. So much happened in this book. So much to say but it’d be all spoilers. A lot more work building and history in the first half. I felt like the Taft situation was handled a little too quickly/easily but he was becoming a bit of an afterthought anyway so it’s whatever.
Loved Ataliia’s POV in this book. It was nice getting her view and not just Cin’s. Ata went through soooo much. As if the loss she experienced at the end of book 1 wasn’t enough this girl went through so much more in book 2. Around 50% was pretty hard to read (as it should be given what happened) cause she was trying to turn things around but life wasn’t making it easy for her.
Cin has had to learn a lot and fast. This was not at all what she expected her life to be when she left the academy, but she’s doing what she can to adapt while also keeping her family together.
The ending will not disappoint. Some of the questions throughout this book are answered but naturally it only leads to more questions.
I’d love to see a Landers POV in the next book even if it’s only a single chapter. I hope to see more of Dukovich and Andrues with Ata and how she deals with those two. Dukovich was a character I did not expect to like but he adds some much needed comic relief which was needed.
I honestly don't even know what just happened to me with this book! I loved every minute of my time with this book, at the same time I am likely to never be the same again. This book ruined me in the best way possible, and there were so many times I was reading this book kind of holding my breath for what was to come. I did not see any of the twists coming, and that ending! THAT ENDING!!!!!
I don't know what else to say other than thank you H.M. Wolfe for writing such a masterful piece of art and giving me the opportunity to read this ahead of the public release!
If you love a dark fantasy romance, where the romance is absolutely not the plot, this is for you. As well make sure you read the triggers for this book, you need to make sure you are ok to read some of the stuff that is happening in this book.
This book was an incredible sequel to The Book Of Cin. I knew I wasn’t getting out of it unscathed but holy hell the plot twists in this thing had me up on my feet, pacing the house, freaking out!!! It was SO GOOD!!!!! When I say good I mean painful in the best way. You truly fall in love with these characters. I absolutely love this world and I’m so heated over this war! I don’t know how we will come out of it alive but I have hope that we will.
Here’s some things I absolutely love about this book/series:
- Shadow mommy - Mental health rep - Strong FMCs - Girlhood/Friendships - Fae, Witches, gods, demons - DRAGONS - Touch her & d;e - Forced proximity - Broody hot guy - Funny hot guy - King of death - Found family - & so much more
I absolutely recommend reading this if you’re a fantasy or romantasy lover!
Tropes: ✨ Enemies to lovers ✨ Forced proximity ✨ Female rage ✨ Found family ✨ Dual POV ✨ “Who did this to you” ✨ Dragons
♾️/ 5 ⭐️ You can’t tell me H.M.Wolfe doesn’t know how to spin a story, and write it poetically. The Book of Cin was my favorite book read last year and Blood Rains Down will probably be hitting the top 5 spot of this years line up.
BRD did as promised and made me fall in love all over again with the characters, question loyalties, and destroy me in the best ways hungering for so much more. In this book we dive back into Cin and Landers flourishing relationship and love as they navigate impending war, and we get to learn and walk beside Ata. The rawness of emotions that these characters felt, I too felt. The angst, the spice, the female rage that is in which this book beautifully portrayed… 👏🏾 👏🏾
Let’s talk about what I loved: - Landers 🥵 (enough said) - We get a love triangle. And I actually don’t know who I’m rooting for. - Dragons, dragons and more dragons! - Ata finding her power - Keeps you on the edge of your seat from beginning to very end - We have betrayals, questioning loyalties, a lot of secrets and mystery we need to uncover. - The realness of pain, vulnerability, forgiveness, and mental health - All the spice and heat 🌶️ 🌶️🌶️ - The ENDING!!!! Cliffhanger is an understatement.
Once again, Hallah proved she is not afraid to rip my heart out, but she could do that again and again and I’d tell her thank you.
One of my favorite things about this series has been the relationships between characters. H.M Wolfe does an amazing job portraying the found/chosen family dynamic, and you can feel how deeply they all care for each other and how far they would go to protect one another.
And the romance? Top tier! Basically all of the men are hardcore simps for their partners and I am obsessed. So much tension and beautifully written spice that will make you swoon.
I also loved the character development, particularly with our FMC, Cin, and her friend Ata, who’s POV we get to dive into quite a bit in this book. I will always be a fan of reading powerful and badass women and they are definitely that. Their feminine rage, resilience, and growth were so satisfying to read.
This book pulled out every single emotion. Honestly my head hurts from all the feelings I just experienced in the last few chapters alone. HM Wolfe deserves every single accolade. This is a work of art! This is what Fantasy is supposed to be. This is what the romantacy standard should be. I’m not okay. Probably won’t be okay until book 3 drops and even then I’m sure I still won’t be okay. This book empowers, it heals, it breaks, it loves, it grieves, it challenges…if I could give this 50stars I would. Absolutely incredible and a MUST READ! Thank you for trusting me with this masterpiece
I fear I may need therapy after this one😩 i am very sad this book is over with. Now to patiently wait for book 3 👉🏼👈🏼
There is so much that happened within this book that I truly don’t know where to begin for a formal review so I might just keep this sweet and simple.
We love to see the strong FMC being complete badasses yet again🙌🏼🙌🏼 through everything they have endured so far they have yet to waiver.
My sweet sweet Ata watching her struggle with her grief hurt my heart. And seeing her push away Cin was just as bad. And then to see what those boys🤬 did. And the fact that she was able to come back from that shows how truly resilient she is.
Wow. This is an amazing continuation for this series and that cliffhanger?! YAS!
This story, just like the first one, has plot twists and schemes you don’t expect. It has healing on all fronts, and love in different and new forms. We see so many new sides to a lot of the character that deepen their connection to one another.
I seriously cannot say enough about this book and this author - READ HER BOOKS! I cannot wait for book 3 :)
