Lucy and Tom help their parents prepare a room for the new baby, greet their new baby sister, Susie, in the hospital, and take care of their mom and Susie when they come home.

This book is great to read to key stage 1 and lower key stage 2 children to read on their own. Many children find it hard accepting a new member into the family and why their mother has to stay in hospital. This book is designed to inform children that Mum has to go into the hospital before the baby arrives but will return home it also discusses the needs of a new born. The book does this in a rather humorous, amusing way. The book is full of illustrations and has lots of detail, including a duck to find on each page.
It’s a cute book and good for introducing topics involved with the arrival of a new baby, such as helping mom and dad, twins, breast feeding, etc. I like that it invokes discussions about these topics. I dislike that it doesn’t give out of hospital births any representation. I have just added that into short discussions with my littles.
Great book for expectant siblings, or just kids who love babies. Start simple for youngest readers, then provides additional text for those who want more. Allows the reader to choose, which is helpful for a classroom that has varying levels of attention spans!
I love Stephen Cartwright's illustrations! Two things I love in this particular book is how it shows the mother after giving birth and nursing the new baby. Great for kids.
This book is excellent. This book has two separate versions which may be read independently or as a longer story. The version at the top of the page is a simple sentence version of the book and is approximately a first grade reading level. The version at the bottom of the page is a more complicated and detailed version of the book and is approximately a second or third grade reading level. A great way to read this book to a baby or toddler is to read only the top line. As the child gets older, read the bottom line as well. When the child starts to read, have them read the top line and you the bottom line. This will give them a great sense of accomplishment which is so important for success in reading. This is a book that can grow with your child. Don't forget to look for the duck on each page. Purchase this book at my Independent Consultant Website: www.ubah.com/s2995

I liked the book, but I really wanted it to be more about how the other siblings can help to take care of the new baby, how to play with it, etc. This one really just focuses on what's going to happen. The parents will create a nursery, grandparents come to babysit, mom goes to hospital, etc.
Awesome book for big brothers and sisters! But even my youngest was enraptured by the pictures, and love when I read it! Very informative in splay full, fun way!
