They’re opposites in every way, but they might just be the perfect match.
After a case of mistaken identity, riddled with betrayal, Harrison Grant is struggling to open himself up to other people again. He lost a part of himself while in prison for a crime he didn’t commit, and it seems impossible to move forward.
Enter Nyla Priestly. She’s a woman with a bubbly smile for everyone she meets and who always has a kind word to say. The jaded version of Harrison wants to doubt her personality is real. No one can be that happy all the time. Right?
Nyla has never been into the broody type. Yet something about Harrison makes her body crave him. Sure, he’s gorgeous and happens to be one of the sexiest saxophone players she’s ever met. But achieving her dream of owning Moody Days Jazz Club is top priority. She doesn’t have time to deal with a man. No matter how good he makes her feel.
As Harrison falls for Nyla and helps her fulfill her dreams, can her unceasing love be enough for him to trust again?

The story was an opposites attraction love story with a bit of family drama. Nyla worked two jobs to save to buy the Jazz club, where she also worked. Her day job involved her grumpy standoffish handsome boss named Harrison. Harrison worked for Royce from the Jenkins family. His part in the story is minimal, but it's the crux for this edition, along with Nyla and Harrison's finding a way to thrive. Nyla needed confidence, and Harrison needed to trust again. Their story was about forgiving and growing. I highly recommend this one. 5 stars.
This is the 1st book in the “Priestly Family Series.” Oh yes, Sharon C. Cooper has a new series for her awesome readers. Yes, previous characters make cameo appearances and we get to know what’s going on in their lives. Harrison and Nyla are both going thru their own insecurities but when the couple comes together their insecurities are a thing of the past. Harrison has been wrongly accused of murder and when his very own mom can help him out of a bad situation she turns her back on him. Then his fiancé walks away because she doesn’t want to be associated with a murderer. With the help of the Jenkins family his name has been cleared. Nyla wants to own and operate Moody Days Jazz Club that the owner is selling because he is retiring. Nyla wants to do it all on her own with no help from family and friends. Nyla and Harrison meet when she becomes his administrative assistant while trying to earn extra money to purchase Moody Days Jazz Club. The two are very much attracted to each other and the chemistry is off the charts. I so loved how all that the couple was going thru that they prevailed and they did it together. What an awesome read as usual by Sharon C. Cooper.
I received an ARC via the author Sharon C. Cooper and I am leaving my review voluntarily.
When trust is broken, you need someone who truly believe in you! This review is of an ARC entrusted to me by the author, Sharon C. Cooper and I am so honored she entrusted me to provide an honest opinion of her latest novel! That said, folks, get this first in the "Priestly Series" and if you get involved with the storyline and characters like I do, you won't want to put it down until you finish reading it! I guess I am a sucker for an excellently written and presented romantic story. "Believing In You" does not disappoint at all. In the pages of this soon to be best seller, you will find joy, laughter, past hurt, betrayal of the most hurtful kind, forgiveness, closure, trust rebuilt, and most of all, heart stopping love between two unlikely people! I loved Harrison and Nyla's story so much that I didn't want it to end. Fans of Sharon C. Cooper's novels are in for another great treat! She gives a tidbit for you to chew on at the end of the story! Sharon, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of the ARC group blessed to read Harrison and Nyla's story! If you haven't already, pre-order your copy so you can have it as soon as it's released, you won't regret it!!!!!!
This is definitely going to be a superb series. Great introduction of this family.
Nyla and Harrison were absolutely opposites that were attracted to each other. Their chemistry was fire. 🔥 What were the odds of Jamie's friends ( Nyla and Harrison) working at the same company and knowing each other? What were further the odds of their friend, Jamie, wanting them to meet, because he thought they would be good together based on what each needed or lacked? All Shocking!
I liked those two together. They balanced each other! Harrison had to start healing and live in the present. Part of his healing process was to forgive those who wronged him. Nyla needed to figure out how to navigate her savings, make her dream a reality, stand on her own (not dependent on sibling for transportation & housing), to get out of her head & not second guess everything, and have confidence.
The encounters that they each had with the other were lasting impressions. They were able to figure out how to move forward, which allowed them to support each other.
Loved the immediate attraction, the trust, playfulness, drama-free and the Priestly family bond. Momma Priestly is hilarious!
Zion's story is gonna be juicy. I can't wait.
I saw Royce from the Jenkins clan as a great friend and boss of Harrison's. His story should be interesting as well.
Harrison and Nyla became attracted to one another when she his temporary administrative assistant. I loved the support that they provided to one another once they got together. Harrison supported Nyla through her insecurities issues which helped build up her confidence in herself. Nyla in turn supported Harrison from the aftermath of the trauma he faced from a difficult time in his life and helped with his mistrust of people which brought him out of his self-imposed shell. I enjoyed the way Nyla's family welcomed Harrison in and gave him the family love that he needed and desired. I love a great grumpy hero because I enjoy reading about the heroine loving the grumpiness right out him, and Harrison was no exception. Harrison and Nyla belief in each other helped them to overcome their issues and form a loving relationship that made them stronger. Great book and great start to the Priestly series.
I never would have thought that Nyla and Harrison would like each other. Even though the company didn’t have a policy against fraternizing, Harrison was her supervisor. Nyla was a temp administrative assistant to Harrison. She called him Mr. Grumpy. They were attracted to each other. Neither one of them was looking for a relationship. Harrison was a broken man. He served time in prison for a crime he never committed. His family and fiancé turned their backs on him. All he had was his best friend. Nyla didn’t want a relationship became she was busy trying to buy a nightclub. However, their attraction was too strong to resist. When they came together, it was just what the doctor ordered. Nyla and her family was able to help Harrison finally face his demons . He helped Nyla attain her dream. I’m already loving this Priestly family series! I loved the mention of the Jenkins family! I’m anxiously awaiting Zion’s story! Thank you Sharon C. Cooper! ❤️🔥
Harrison went through a horrible ordeal of being falsely accused of murder committed by his own brother that his own mother knew but was willing to let Harrison go to prison for the crime. Nyla was a new beginning and a breath of fresh air for Harrison. I think he should’ve sued the state getting more than the $50,000 that they gave him for being wrongly convicted and incarcerated for a whole year. It’s a good thing that Royce believed in, stood by, and fought for him making sure his innocence was proven. I loved Nyla’s personality and how she helped Harrison return to his former self and he helped her with her insecurities and dream of owning her own business. I’m with her mom of wanting them having a baby or twins.
Author Sharon C. Cooper released a new family series. The Priestly Family Series. Believing in You is the first book with Nyla Priestly. Nyla is bubbly, funny, and truly amazing. She’s trying her hardest to make her dream job a reality. She doubts her abilities because she didn’t go to college. Enter Harrison Grant, the moody boss at Nyla’s temp job. He’s drop dead gorgeous. Harrison is dealing with a lot from his past and struggles to open up to others. They are attracted to each other and very much need each other in their lives. Harrison and Nyla are a beautiful couple who find their dreams and love for each other. I look forward to reading about the Priestly family.
I enjoyed this introduction into the Priestly family series. Nyla and Harrison gave me grumpy/sunshine vibes with her being happy most times and him being a broody grump after his past experiences. I liked these two together and liked how Nyla was able to get Harrison to smile and start enjoying life. He went through a horrible ordeal and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. It was good to see him finally in a place to forgive and move on and allow his feelings for Nyla to bloom. I’m looking forward to getting more from this family.
Believing In You is a heartfelt start to Sharon C. Cooper’s cozy contemporary romance series, and it immediately hooked me with its perfect balance of emotional depth, sizzling chemistry, and the triumph of love over trauma.
The story follows Harrison Grant, a man whose life was shattered when he was falsely convicted of murder. Betrayed by both his mother and his fiancée, Harrison emerges from prison with deep scars and a reclusive lifestyle. His journey through therapy and his hesitancy to trust again feel raw and real—you can’t help but ache for him. Enter Nyla Priestly, his temporary assistant, whose own struggles with self-worth and insecurities make her beautifully relatable. She dreams of owning her own bar but doubts she’s “good enough” without a degree, a feeling that resonates with anyone who’s ever questioned their place in the world.
Together, Harrison and Nyla create sparks that are impossible to ignore. Their slow-burn attraction simmers until it bursts into a romance that feels both natural and inevitable. What makes their story shine is how they heal each other: Nyla helps Harrison step back into the world and trust again, while Harrison proves to Nyla that love isn’t about status—it’s about connection.
The writing is warm, engaging, and laced with just the right amount of steam. The love scenes are tastefully done—passionate without being over the top—and the emotional payoff is so satisfying. This isn’t just a romance; it’s a story of forgiveness, resilience, and finding the courage to believe in love again.
One of the most memorable lines comes from Harrison himself: “She taught me to hug.” It’s simple, but it captures the heart of the story—love’s ability to open us up, even after pain and betrayal.
Overall, Believing In You is a beautifully written story of healing, trust, and second chances. With no offensive content and a strong emotional core, it’s a perfect read for anyone who loves contemporary romance with substance. I’m fully invested in this series and can’t wait for book two—Zion’s story promises to be just as unforgettable.
Once again Sharon C. Cooper has shown me why she is my new favorite romance author. I really enjoyed this book, and getting to know the characters and their backstories. Sharon does a phenomenal job of writing romance, especially writing a romance for characters that have insecurities and trauma. This love story was beautifully and I definitely almost cried during some parts. I loved reading about Nyla and Harrison and I think they are perfect for each other. I would have loved one more chapter of them together, but I am not mad about how the book ended. I think the conclusion was done really well. Harrison is definitely being added to the list of my favorite book boyfriends. Overall this was a great story and I highly recommend everyone check it out.
I can already tell that I'm going to enjoy this new series by Sharon C. Cooper. I enjoyed meeting Nyla and Harrison. They had great chemistry together and I loved how they balanced each other out and helped heal old wounds. I can tell that I'm going to love Virginia Priestly (Nyla's Mom) with her wonderful hugs. Harrison's story was so heartbreaking. More than ready for Zion's story, especially after reading that little snippet at the end of Nyla's book.
I wanted to give this story three stars, ok, 3.50, the ending is the reason The story pulled me in from the start, and it is a very good story. This was almost a five-star book, then came the ending in chapter 24, then went right into the epilouge. It was like a person walking away while speaking to you but just leaving you saying, wait, finish your statement. I could not give it that rating, just because the ending was lacking to me
Love Nyla and Harrison! Mama Virginia Priestly is a trip! I truly enjoyed this story. I love stories with a great family and friend bond. Buy this book and meet this new family from a great author. I promise you if you read it, you will buy all her books. I like how she ties her series today. Can't wait for the next book!
The story line was a little different and for 2 people to come together after their own devastating situations was beautiful. I love a strong heroine and Nyla was much stronger than she thought. Harrison had a lot to get through and it was nice to see him come out after meeting Nyla’s mom. Beautiful story.
Loved this story the chemistry between Harrison and Nyla was 🔥🔥 The only thing I didn't like was that it was to short . I 'm a big fan of Sharon C Cooper books I love how she brings characters from previous books into new stories. I suggest everyone read this story and her other books.
Excellent read, I enjoyed the characters and storyline. Nyla had insecurities and Harrison’s past misfortune kept him antisocial. Their personalities were opposites, but their attraction and chemistry was instant. This is their journey to love. I look forward to the next installment.
I loved Harrison’s story. Nyla was the right choice for him, she enabled him to laugh again. Harrison helped to ground Nyla and make her see that she was capable of whatever she wanted to accomplish. I can’t imagine the horror of being accused of a murder that you didn’t do. His mother should have been ashamed of herself.
This new series by Sharon C. Cooper was a wonderful story. I enjoyed meeting Nyla and Harrison, good chemistry between these two. I was so anxious to hear Harrison's story and what a story it was. Ready Zion's story next.
Sharon C Cooper, never disappoints the first book in the new series had all the feelings. A touch of humor, drama, lies, with two people who were afraid. Eventually with the help of a friend the begin to believe in each other.
This book is a great start to this series. The main characters are likeable and balance each other out well. Harrison went through something so heartbreaking and to be betrayed by your brother and mother, that's a dozy. Nyla helps him to find hope and trust again and he helps her by having someone truly believe in her and her dreams. The title of this book speaks to what the characters are to each other.
I'm looking forward to Zion's story and I love the inclusion of Royce Garrison. If you read The Cost of Love, you know that Royce is going back to home to help with the Jenkins family business. I can't wait to see if he gets with one of Nyla's sisters.
Great drama yet very painful surrounding Harrison's life. I thought it would be ex who would have framed him not the brother and mother. Mrs. Priestly is to funny. It was obvious from day one there was an attraction between Nyla and Harrison.
What a great story about two broken spirits, and how they found love. Nyla and Harrison was made for each other. I can’t believe Harrison’ s mom let he son go to jail. I don’t know if I could forgive her.
A new family to fall in love with who's got a connection with our beloved Jenkins Family. Nyla and Harrison's story is one of second chances and what happens when you take a chance on your dreams. Couldn't put it down.
I loved it! I love all of this author's books! Great couple! Harrison and Nyla , proved true love can change a broken heart any time! I love series with families included!
