While the truth is supposed to set you free, Luella suspects the truth would kill her parents—and likely her career. That’s why, when the star of her murder mystery ends up dead, she has no choice but to lie.
Herb Robert has high expectations for his life. But his father has a different set than he does; his congregation, yet another. That’s why Herb decides to go to Ireland and do something he wants to do for a change, even though everyone else thinks he’s shirking his responsibilities.
God only knows what will happen when Luella’s lies begin to unravel, and the carefully entwined fibers of Herb’s dreams begin to fray. Even the fairies at the Wishing Tree are baffled when things they thought were set in stone start toppling in the wind.
Sherrie Hansen just retired from her life calling - operating a Victorian Bed & Breakfast and Tea House, The Blue Belle Inn. She enjoys writing novels, quilting, playing the piano, renovating old houses and traveling. Sherrie and her husband live in Northern Iowa.
This book swept me away with its emotional depth and quiet magic. Herb Robert isn’t just a story—it’s a journey through tangled truths, fragile dreams, and the courage it takes to choose your own path when the world expects something else. The Irish setting added a haunting beauty to the narrative. The Wishing Tree, the fairies, the wind—everything felt alive, like the land itself was watching and whispering. It gave the story a mystical undertone that added depth to the emotional stakes and the choices each character faced. This novel is a gentle reminder that truth and transformation often walk hand in hand, and that stepping into your own story—no matter how uncertain—can be the most powerful choice of all.
I have enjoyed all the books in this series and they seem to keep getting better and better. This is definitely my favourite so far. It’s far from predictable. With a man of God, who just wants a relaxing holiday, a young woman who will go to any length to have a baby, and some characters from the previous book, you know the story is going to be interesting. It’s also full of mystery, when a murder takes place. Who did it and why aren’t the only questions that need answering. The characters are well defined and the plot interesting. I highly recommend reading this one.
You don’t have to read previous books in the series to enjoy this one, but I highly suggest you do else you will be missing out on some great reading.
This story is full of charm, heart, and a little mischief.
Luella and Herb are flawed in the best ways, and the writing has just the right mix of humor and heartache. Though they were on very different paths, their personalities complimented one another well.
This story really showcases the importance of making your own fate and not letting it be decided for you.
I became thoroughly engaged in the story of Luella and Herb Robert, two lonely people who found their way to each other despite the obstacles of their pasts, murder and death threats.
Mystery, adventure, romance and a wee bit of the supernatural. I always enjoy Sherrie’s books. They hold my interest from beginning to end. Her characters are complex.
