Awesome! I loved the book. It had suspense, mystery and thrill. I could connect with Janie and her felt every emotions.
Author made me cry in this book also as in Songbird. Tears were flowing while reading the scene where Kyle gets brutally murdered and the scene was so vivid I can see myself standing there watch the scene and that was really really... I don't want to talk about. And also in other scene when Tristan also got killed but, thanks to Janie's powers!! That would have been bad and I didn't wanted it to have sad ending.
I was sucked in the story and am looking forward for the next book in the series.

Waken is a werewolf story about family abandonment, freedom, dreams, power and love. Written in Janie’s point of view, it tells how Janie’s decision to change into being friendly and make friends could lead to her possible death, her being the cure, her being the saviour, and her being ‘the Wolf’.
Consumed by nightmares of the mother who tried to kill her, her stepbrother persuaded her to chill out and make friends. She met Tristan, the guy she can’t resist having uneasy feeling with. When they dated, not only was she got exposed in the dark secret of lycan community but also introduced to the father who left her. Things just got more complicated for our little shy Janie when they told her she is the promised one that will set them free from the curse blood of lycanthrope but not all wants freedom including Helena—her mother.
The writing is very impressive. I liked how the scenarios are described vividly. This was such an easy read. The characters are well-planned out and I loved how they serve their roles. I enjoyed the family twist, also. My best part is when Kyle died. That was my climax of the story.
This, though, is a little predictive for me. Regardless of how likeable the characters are, the only parts that I highly enjoyed are when I did not see a twist coming. But the awesome vivid writing and the good pacing of the story are the all good reasons to keep reading. No matter how many times I predict how the story will go, it never fails to thrill me.
I recommended it to young adult readers out there who enjoy werewolf stories. It got suspense and mystery to chill your night out.

I received Waken (Woods of Evenrod, #1) book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
What a great book! This reminds me of the Parker Harris series by McClung. Excellent, engaging characters, and a consistent, well-paced storyline. I was up until 1am to finish the book. So glad I decided to take a chance on a YA book (characters are 17-18 years old), but the first chapter "Closer Look" sneak peek on Amazon encouraged me to take a chance on this new (to me) author. Well worth the read!

I gave this book five stars because I loved it but I don't like that there isn't more. I am not so good at patiently waiting for a sequel.
I loved the mistery, I loved the danger, I loved the romance but I don't like it not being over still. Cliffies are not really my thing even though I have read a lot of them. I assumed it was a cliffhanger when I started reading but the book was so appealing I couldn't stop. Loved Tristan and I like the book.
So I will definitely be looking for two.

This book grabbed a hold of me right away and didn't let go. There is so much suspense and mystery. This author did an excellent job on descriptions of the different action in this book; especially a car crash that left me feeling like I was in that vehicle. I am definitely wanting more of this story and can't wait for the next book.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. I loved this book! It grabbed my attention from the beginning. The author was amazingly descriptive, and made it very easy to visualize what she was seeing in her own mind. I can't wait for the next one!

Ho hum
I couldn't get lost in this story. Basically it became so flavorless it lost my interest. I tried to like it. I hung in there but the last 25% book I just couldn't hang on. I skimmed to the end and even then I was disappointed.

I wish I could have given this book 3.5 stars. Three isn't quite enough, but I'm not comfortable giving it 4 stars. It was an enjoyable book, but the editing was almost nonexistent. There were clearly places where sentences were merged, and it was really distracting at times. I liked it, but I won't be continuing with the series.

Good story, horrible editing
This book had the potential for 5 stars, but fell rather short due to the never ending typos, partial sentences merged with others, random word placement throughout, misspelled names, redundant facts ( ie she was told about a characters backstory, yet chapters later she's absolutely clueless... to name one). Other than that, if you're not a grammar Nazi, the story content was appealing and kept interest. I appreciated the fact that not every male was "perfect", as it seems to be a common recurrence. While it would have been nice for the main character to step up a bit more to the antagonist, the imprint of her persona left in your mind is quite believable throughout to book. She is relatable and likeable. Worth a read if this is you're type of genre, but you've been warned. Many typos ahead... so many that I actually find it hard to believe that this was a #1 bestseller, and yet no one seems to notice.

The relationship between the main girl and boy is quite similar to Twilight's. But that doesn't mean the story isn't interesting.
So, this is about werewolves. Or, as they prefer, Lycans. What kind of bugged me was that even though some of the characters had the power to shape shift they rarely did so. A lot of things weren't explained until the last few chapters.
Another thing that kinda grated on my nerves was the poor editing. I found quite a few errors that kind of withdrew me from the world the author was trying to create for me.
There was also a nasty word in here that I didn't appreciate.
All in all, I did like this read, but I didn't love it. If a sequel pops up, I may give it a whirl.

I actually would give this book 3.5 stars. The first few pages started off really well, then it just fell flat to me. I ended up putting it down for a few days because I just couldn't get into it. I love werewolf/lycan books, and I did like this unique take on it. What I didn't like was it took so long to get into the meat of the story. To me there was just too much "feeling sorry for myself" in Janie's character. At about 50%, it started to pick up and get interesting, then I found it hard to put down. So all in all, so long as you get past the first half, it turns out pretty darn good. I'm glad I did't abandon it. I will be reading the next book in the series. I hope the next book will be more like the second half of this one.

I received an ARC eBook in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book I have read by Angela Fristoe and it will certainly won't be my last! I loved this unique and adventurous young adult fantasy romance! This is the first book in The Woods of Everod series and it promises to be an exciting series. This story was full of mystery and suspense as well as finding first and true love. A book that will keep you flipping pages to find out what happens next! I loved every delicious second of this book! I have added Angela Fristoe to my list of MUST-READ Authors!

Janie made me want to dig my own eyes out. So hard to read about her and her constant whining. Yes I get it you were abused by your Mom she didn't love you. This affects every thing Janie does. Every waken (pun intended) moment she spends rehashing her horrible life. I kept waiting for the epic moment when she finally stands up against her mom and the repressive chains holding her down. Woe is me! disappointment isn't quite the word for it.
The worst part- she doesn't feel really truly worth anything until (yup you guessed it) a boy she has known for two weeks loves her.

I enjoyed this book. It kept me interested and there were a few surprises that actually left me wanting to know more.

I really liked this book! It is the first one I've read by this author, but it was fantastic. I had to give it five stars! NOW, I am impatiently waiting for the next book!
