I won this book in a giveaway and was extremely pleased!
I am not a romance genre fan; however, this book wasn't just romance. There was suspense, murder, adventure, romance and triumph over doubt!
This is actually one of my top favorite books so far this year!

Second chances worth fighting for
I can always count on Marshman’s characters being solidly drawn and believable. In Resolute Ssecurity I found characters I really really wanted to root for. Anyone who’s ever needed a second chance will relate to a heroine who made one stupid mistake when she was young and naive. But to have her fall in love with a man who has good reason to doubt people can change… well, that was a plot that tugged hard on my heart. I recommend this book to anyone who believes/hopes that second chances are real.

More of an action book than a suspense as we know who the villain is from the beginning. While part of a series it can be read standalone (which is how I essentially read it since I couldn’t remember the previous characters or their stories).

This is a good romantic suspense read. Matt doesn't believe that people deserve second chances. Erin made a mistake but now has turned her life around. When he is forced to be her bodyguard, he isn't thrilled. But sometimes things happen that make you see things differently.

Resolute Security balances high-octane suspense with a deep emotional romance. The story centers around Erin Montgomery, a woman with a past who has worked for ten years to reframe who she is for herself and her community. Then her quiet life is violently upended when threats arrive demanding she retrieve a cache of priceless jewelry stolen during a legendary Texas heist years earlier. The same heist she was involved in. Taking the threats to heart, she planned to search for the jewelry, since she had no idea where it was. However, her parents, who have more money than Heinz has pickles, heard of the threats and hired a bodyguard to protect her until the threat was neutralized. When Matt arrives, he’s all business, until he realizes he’s going to have to do things differently if he wants to earn Erin’s trust and keep her safe.
The forced proximity, typical of the bodyguard trope, is executed brilliantly without instantly devolving into the one-bed trope. Nope, no bed for Matt! He gets an air mattress on the floor and a lot of sass from the woman who didn’t want to admit she needed help, but was more than grateful for it once it arrived. As they hunt the nooks and crannies of her ranch and the town of Winston, the professional lines between Matt and Erin begin to blur. Their chemistry was immediate and electric, but the tension isn't just about the hunt for the jewels. It's about two people with well-built emotional walls discovering that the right person can leap over them and find the heart they’d kept hidden for too long.
The suspense thread is tightly wound, full of satisfying twists and turns that will leave you cheering and gasping. Ms. Marshman seamlessly weaves the backstory of the original theft with the immediate, visceral danger Erin is in now. What elevates the novel is the romance amidst the danger. Their moments of vulnerability are earned, making their inevitable fall into love feel genuine rather than a result of adrenaline or circumstance. They both must learn how to put their fears aside and communicate if they want to find their way to happily ever after. First, they have to find that jewelry if Erin stands a chance of having a future.

It’s a thrilling suspense novel and a deeply satisfying slow-burn romance for those who love it when the protector lets down his guard and shows vulnerability with the woman he’s falling for. Resolute Security was a great addition to the Protectors of Boone County series. Matt Franklin is a new transplant to Boone County. His friend and boss Nate has moved to Texas and opened up Resolute Security after years of being in California. Matt definitely feels like a fish out of water but is ready to get to work on their latest protection detail. It's for Erin Montgomery. She's from the wealthiest family in the county and due to some poor choices that she made as a teenager, she's now got trouble showing up at her doorstep. Erin is the first person to admit that at 18, she was making poor choices and those choices hurt people. It's now a decade later and not only has she learned from those decisions that she made but she's vowed to never let down her guard and to be extra vigilant with her future decisions. Erin doesn't want protection and she doesn't trust Matt. Matt is her for a job and he doesn't intend to screw things up no matter how much Erin gets under his skin. These two are oil and water but if they work together, maybe they could both have the life that they secretly dream of. Resolute Security was told from dual POV and has plenty of action, laughter, heat and more! It stands alone in the series but I recommend reading them all.

I loved returning to this series, catching up with past characters, and reading about new ones. Ms. Marshman hit it out of the park with this story. I finished the book in one day because I just had to see what happened. If I could, I would give this book more than 5 stars. A story of an heiress, Erin Montgomery, who made a mistake when she was younger and spends 10 years of her life trying to atone for it, and Matt Franklin, a cynical bodyguard who is trying to keep her safe from a crazy, ex-boyfriend who re-enters her life. This story had angst, fear, distrust, suspense, but it also had heart and included family – the good and the bad, by blood and by choice. I love this story and cried, cheered, and laughed throughout. Ms. Marshman has a way of showing us the deep emotions, pain and love felt by the characters that it is easy to empathize with them. I took a break after one scene because it made me cry so much. I love that Erin is a horse trainer and wants to use her abilities to help others get better by using her horses for therapy. This story stuck with me for a while after I finished it. Don’t miss this one. I voluntarily read an advance copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Full of suspense, a treasure hunt and awesome characters! Erin Montgomery made some bad decisions 10 years earlier, but has desperately been trying to right her wrongs. But when her past shows up and starts making demands, it all comes back and she has to meet his demands if she wants to keep her loved ones safe. Her very wealthy Mother hires a bodyguard for her from Resolute Security , but that is just another example of how her mother is trying to control everything, and Erin is determined to do things her way. Matt Franklin is that bodyguard who has his rules and won’t back down from the woman he is being paid to protect. She is bound to go on the treasure hunt that can put her past to an end or it can cause more pain . I loved the determination, dreams and the banter between the characters. I loved this storyline and definitely recommend it!

Erin is a infamous local celebrity of sorts. A rich girl gone bad still trying to redeem herself ten years down the road and then her past shows up threatening the people she cares the most about.
Butting heads and falling for each other they’re both looking for a fresh start and together they might just find it in the latest heart tugging installment of the Protector’s of Boone County that remains one of my favorite Harlequin Intrigue series of all time.

A stalker ex, stolen jewels, a hot bodyguard and lots of action make this book hard to put down.
When Erin Montgomery’s ex is released from prison, her mother hires Matt Franklin, a bodyguard to look after her. All Erin wants to do is get rid of him. Little by little they start to fall for each other. This could jeopardize the job and Matt’s dream of buying into Resolute Security. But love is a risk worth taking.

This romantic suspense is filled with danger, threats, and the search for missing jewelry. Both of the main characters have demons from their past - Matt in the form of bad results from second chances and Erin in trying to atone for a mistake. I loved how both of these characters grew throughout the story along with their love for each other.

Resolute Security follows Matt and Erin on their journey to find a second chance worth fighting for. The characters are great! The plot was terrific! I enjoyed every second of this amazing book! Can't wait to see what happens next for these bodyguards!

I really enjoyed how the story shows Matt’s distrust clashing with Erin’s determination to rebuild her life. The tension with her violent ex hunting for the missing loot kept me hooked, and I loved the personal growth woven into the danger.
