Lonely and sweet, Eveline Newell is forced into an arranged marriage with the older, reserved, and cruel Mr. Stirling to help her father’s business. She travels across the English countryside to Lindenwood Manor, her new home, to live with him.
However, frightening and inexplicable occurrences begin happening at this mysterious house, and Eveline finds herself worried about the true nature of Lindenwood and its occupants. A bump in the night, a flickering candle, untouchable silhouettes. Something is lurking in the shadows.
Aside from the haunts of Lindenwood, Eveline is also dealing with the fright of her new husband. Atticus is rarely seen outside of his private wing, and when he does travel the main house, he is confusingly distant.
Until he finds his young wife in the library in the middle of the night.
Will his restraint hold? Or will he give in to illicit temptation? What hides in the shadowed halls? Or who? Only one thing knows the answer to all of these questions—Lindenwood itself.
This book is a combination of everything I love in a story. The romance had such a beautiful development from start to finish and everything I felt at the beginning became the complete opposite by the end. It is a perfect period piece, enemies to lovers with an exciting sub-plot that is perfectly intertwined with the rest of the story. The writing style is also beautifully done. Overall I loved this book!
Lola’s writing?? Absolutely beautiful. The way she puts emotion into her words and creates such a captivating atmosphere had me hooked. There’s something so effortless about her writing that makes you want to keep reading even if it’s 3AM and you need to get up soon! 🤣
Lindenwood was such an amazing reading experience, and I genuinely loved getting lost in its world. Definitely one of those books where the vibes alone stay with you.
