I’ve read this author from the absolute beginning of her career , every word shes’s ever written and… STANDING OVATION.
This book is everything CL ROSE is known for just done to perfection. The story is fantastic. The humor is on point. The characters are amazing both seperate and together, and the spice 🥵🥵🥵
Dear goddess, I don’t know how she tops herself every single time, but praise everything holy, she absolutely does.
This book was just a great time from start to finish and I for one and so happy to be back in our football era. GO Rock City Renegades. 🩶💜
Maddox and Livvy are one of my favorite couples to date in the Rose kinky-verse and I will 100% say I was not expecting the mouth on that man.

I love owner’s daughter in a football romance, but what I really loved about this on was how much Livvy loved the game too! She wants to be a professional coach and when she finds the teams brand new QB struggling, she knows just how to help him. What I love is that despite Maddox’s confidence issues and people not giving Livvy a chance to prove herself, when they start to work together everything clicks.
Ans the tension between these two is enough to set the entire stadium on fire. I loved this transition from friends to lovers, and how much they respected and communicated with each other in every single way.
Also Maddox has a spicy hidden talent that made me scream when I got to it (IYKYK) so if you love a dirty boy, you are going to love him.
To me, this is CL’s best book to date and one of my favorite couples ever. This one had just the right balance of fun, plot and a double helping of spice (it’s ch 31 in this one yall 🥵)
And I loved every second of it.

There are two things you should know about CL Rose:
1. She's writes the best fictional football players
2. She will give you top tier spice.... EVERY. SINGLE. TME.
I am so excited that CL Rose is back in her football romance era. There is just something about an obsessive and possessive fictional football player that gets me going. And Candice, she is setting the tone for the rest of this new series with Mr. Irrelevant!
Mr. Irrelevant, follows Maddox Dane and Livvy Grant. Maddox, he is the NFL underdog. He was picked last in the draft and has been riding the bench for the majority of his career until he is drafted to the Rock City Renegades. He is now the first string quarterback for the FIRST TIME EVER and he is fumbling the ball. So who steps in to help him? Livvy. She is the owners daughter but she knows more about football than most men. What starts off as a "let me help coach you" quickly turns into a friends w/benefits situations where Maddox helps check off some items on Livvy's check list 👀
Besties, listen, I will be honest with you. At first I thought Maddox was a little bit of a beta. But I was quickly proven wrong. This man is a dirty talking daddy who works extra hard at earning each and every check mark on Livvy's "This or I Don't Want It" list. Like the work that this man put in. It's rather impressive and honestly I'm here for it. And remember what I said, Candice delivers top tier spice. And this one does not disappoint. There are seriously several chapters that will live rent free, and lets just say one of them includes a tripod and a phone set to record 👀
Beyond the spice, I loved the plot. I love how fiercely independent Livvy is. She has been told she's "too much" her whole life. Men have tried to dim her light. That is until Maddox entered her life. The way that this man loves her. He provides comfort and security. He allows her to be Livvy and he's not intimidated by her personality or the fact that she knows how to actually coach football. And then you have Maddox, he has always been the underdog. Until he meets Livvy. Livvy proves to him he has what it takes to be the best. Their relationship dynamics work because they both have control at different times and they also both allow each other dominate when necessary.
Candice, as always, I devoured and loved this one! Keep them coming!

Oh, you think you’re ready for another C.L. Rose Football series? You think you have it all figured out. You think you’re ready for Maddox Dane AKA Mr.Irrelevant AKA Maddy Daddy AKA Mad Dog? Well you’re not. I’m sorry to say you are so NOT prepared for this man & the way he cares for Livvy.
Maddox is quite literally the last player picked for the Renegades. The only reason he’s there? Because the coaches daughter sees something in him. Something she can help mould into a legend. With just a little (secret) coaching, Livvy is convinced she can turn Maddox from a zero to a hero.
Only one problem of course, he’s forbidden. Completely off limits. Oh, and she’s DONE messing around with idiot football players. For good.
Yeah, that all sounds fine and dandy until the TENSION and the FLIRTING and the FORCED PROXIMITY come into play and these two freakin FALL. Man, when this guy falls.. he falls hard. And it’s beautiful to experience.
These two really have a beautiful friendship above all else. They learn a lot about one another. They’re comfortable. They’re kind. And they really take their time to build their friendship and subsequent relationship from the ground up. Absolute strangers to friends to lovers, in the best way.
The spice in this book? I can’t even talk about it. It’s delicious. It’s perfect. It lives rent free. I haven’t STOPPED thinking about the spice. It’s memorable. It’s EVERYTHING. Wait until you see what Daddy has up his sleeve.. it’s PERFECT. Thank you, Daddy. (Not literally of course)There’s this one scene… I can’t even tell you just.. Chapter 14 / 15. I highlighted the entire thing. Honestly.
Top all of this off with a perfect HEA, less drama then I thought there would be, no third act breakup, and a perfect ending for my badass chick Livvy who worked her freakin butt off and made all her dreams come true.
I’m sad to say goodbye to these two, but I know I’ll see more of them in the rest of the series and for that, I can’t wait.

I didn’t think it was possible to love this book more after reading it three times but apparently the limit does not exist.
When Maddox is drafted to his new team the Rock City Renegades he realizes he might be in over his head as he’s thrown in almost immediately as starting quarterback. As the owner’s daughter, football has always run in Livvy’s veins. So when she sees Maddox floundering she decides to take things into her own hands and make a champion out of him. As Maddox and Livvy grow closer physically and emotionally they realize that this attraction between them isn’t going anywhere. A FWB situationship seems like the key to all of their problems….that is until possessive Maddox comes out to play.
I absolutely positively with my whole being love these two. The way that not only Maddox but Livvy too, stepped into their power and worked as a team to fully embrace not only the game but their relationship as well. Maddox’s vulnerability and the care he took of Livvy was such a beautiful ride. And Livvy owning who she truly is, stepping into that and taking her power back was such a wild and erotic ride I never wanted to get off.

I love being a part of their journeys and this will never get less surreal for me that I get to be here from start to finish. Another absolute banger, my girl. Read this in one sitting really enjoyed it! This friends to lovers, friends w benefits romance was exactly what I needed to break out of a major reading slump.
Maddox and Livvy were such a refreshing couple to read about. Their chemistry was amazing right away and I loved how their bond over football added depth to their growing connection.
Maddox was perfection. Sweet as can be but won’t hesitate to flip that switch in bed 🥵 Livvy was a great FMC. Smart, fierce & totally a badass in a space usually dominated by men.
And in true CL fashion, the spice was chef’s freaking kiss. She never misses.

CL Rose has yet again woven together a story of relatable characters you immediately feel connected to with spice & romance that is OUT OF THIS world - without sacrificing plot.
How she manages to pack SO much plot & SO much spice into one novel is astounding to me. She does it in a way that feels, effortless. While this reads effortlessly, I know that CL Rose has put her heart and soul into this book, into EVERY book, and creates such a labor of love.
CL Rose is a football fan - she is knowledgeable in the sport while putting thoughtful effort in explaining football in a way to other readers who might not be as fluent in the game.
It is well researched & explained simply without sacrificing language familiar to football fans. I love CL Rose in her football era because she doesn’t miss. APPLAUSE baby…
The premise of the story is that the team owner’s daughter begins secretly coaching the new QB where they develop a friends with benefits relationship & things get…SPICY (in more ways than one…) 🤭
We’ve touched on plot/spice ratio, little blurb, & research, now let’s hit character development because CL Rose has an insane ability to create INTERCONNECTED characters across her universe that you can’t help but LOVE & cheer on for from the sidelines. I swear, it’s a game to see who she will feature next because while she absolutely nails the MC’s - the supporting characters share an equal impact within her universe.
Livvy’s sister, Sydney is my spirit animal.

Livvy is anything but the self-inflated character you would assume the owner’s daughter would be. She is selfless, caring, thoughtful in her delivery & kind above all. I love her.
She is in a male dominated industry simply because she loves the game & I love that for her. A giant middle finger to the patriarchy & I’m here for that.
Furthermore, I love how she loves Maddox.
Mad Dog - ugh he absolutely stole my heart. The possessive side of him? Girl BYE. He is the *ultimate* book boyfriend, I will accept no criticism on that. Top tier. Bar? Set.
That thing he did about 38% in? Yeah, I haven’t recovered. I’m not sure I ever will. RIP to me.

She wrote in tropes that you rarely - if ever - read about. This was not basic spice but my queen, CL Rose, *never* does basic. This was easily a four chili pepper 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ book.

THE mouth on Maddox was out of this world. CL writes some of the best spice but my man’s mouth really went up another notch.
Maddox and Livvy were so fun. Livvys family owns the team and Maddox is new and also an absolute nobody. But our girl sees something in him.
The way these two go together, the spice, the flirting. I really enjoyed it all.
Loved seeing the Cincinnati and Cleveland rivalry in there too.
Can’t wait FOR book 2.

Well colour me surprised and mildly aroused. This book completely took me off guard in the best way. I went in expecting a standard sports romance and came out with a story that tackled the absolute minefield of sexism and misogyny in sport. And as someone who’s worked in the industry? Yeah, that shit is rampant. Seeing Livvy navigate that world, knowing she was settling for being a manager instead of chasing her dream of coaching because of the bullshit double standards? It hit. And it hurt. I adored her.
Now, full disclosure: I’m Australian. I know sweet fuck-all about American football except what I’ve learned through sports romances and Hollywood films. But this book? It felt authentic. The author clearly knows their football, and I actually walked away with some new knowledge (and a sudden interest in tight ends, thank you very much).
And then there’s Maddox.
Ohhhh Maddox.
Sir, you cannot just be a footballer you’ve got no business being that hot with your filthy mouth and that unexpectedly swoony vibe. The moment he started dirty talking I had to put the book down and breathe. No one warned me he’d be this level of Book Boyfriend™ material.
The chemistry? Straight fire. And bless them for not dragging out the will-they-won’t-they this one gave us that beloved “fuck it” energy and I lived for it.
A brilliant start to the series and a delightful palate cleanser after the parade of dark, unhinged romances I’ve been devouring lately. Highly recommend if you want something spicy, satisfying, and surprisingly real.

My first time reading this author. I really was enjoying it especially that the plot is original and different.
The book started with their insecurities and building up their relationship from a professional one to friends to finally lovers (friends with benefits). I loved the character development, the time it took both of them to trust each other and how they ended up being each other's number one fan and extremely loyal to one another.
I am not a fan of the "hooking up" culture and knowing that even the MFC in this book used to do it makes me cringe but I had to reign down my disgust in favour of the plot which is very original and out of the box.
But then they reached the friends with benefits arrangement. A trope that I very much despise. And the smut started smutting. And the book shifted completely from a very adorably romantic story to a OTT kinky porn.
Their first time together is... well.... umm I have no words! 😳😳😳 What in the world was that?! 🤦♀️
IMO it was way too much and it just killed whatever the author was trying to build up in the first 30% of the book.
And the fact that the main purpose of the book became him trying to check ✔️ every wish on her porn-sex-list made it go downhill from there.
Then he mentions that he started falling for her in the bedroom. As if everything that went down between them at the begining of the book took the backseat to sex, porn and kinks.
She believed in him. She made him better. She never gave up on him. She supported him. She was super loyal to him. She was honest. She looked out for him. She protected him. And she was an amazing best friend and his biggest cheerleader only for him to say that none of that started the love in his heart for her but rather whatever happened behind closed doors in the bedroom?! That sounded very superficial and typical man-thinking to be honest.
And then that cluster f*ck at the 3rd act mark, well! TOTALLY EXPECTED! I mean when has filming a sex video ever been a good idea!! 🙄🙄🙄
Anyone can access Internet people ANYONE!! 🤦♀️
And finally the repetitive and constant annoying mention of her tiny hands, her small arms, her tiny waist, her tiny stature.... *cringe*
I've read other reviews and realised this is the author's writing style, the plot always takes the back seat to OTT kinky smut. If it weren't for the porn and the author rather focused on their character development this book would have easily been a 4.5.

Maddox. Dane. A man among boys and literally one of my favorite MMC’s written. From his boyishness to his dominance, he was utter perfection. And Livvy, this woman was seriously something else, with her knowledge of football and her devotion to Maddox to make him the best he could be. Candice, you are a goddess writer and literal have such a fascinating mind.
From the very start of this book, I was hooked. Their first meeting is truly priceless. The banter was bantering and I smiled through this whole book and cracking up throughout it. What starts out as Livvy helping Maddox with his game, quickly turns into lust. They were seriously so cute trying to fight their chemistry, but alas, it could not be stopped and that lust turns into love.
Their interactions with each other were so amazing. I love the building of their relationship through a game they both love and how much they lifted each other up in this book, finding someone who not only wants what’s best for you but the other person as well.
The side characters were also as amazing and I can only hope for a Theo book and a Sydney book.
Sydney is seriously the funniest character and everyone needs a Sydney in their lives. I love that even though it was a new team for everyone, they really came together when it mattered. Also, getting to see characters from other books was like coming home.
But let’s just talk about how absolutely filthy Maddox’s mouth was. This mans mouth was something else. The way he DOMINATED Livvy with live rent free in my mind forever. The list though is EVERYTHING. This man was willing to do whatever she fantasized, and when I say anything, literally anything. But it wasn’t just the way he spoke to her in the bedroom but outside the bedroom, this man was so freaking cute, I can’t even.

Holy, was this ever a pleasant surprise?! As my first book by C.L. Rose, I wasn't sure what to expect, but what a spicy ride this was!
I'm a sucker for a sports romance, and Mr. Irrelevant takes us on the journey of Maddox, the underdog quarterback who is constantly trying to prove his worth, and Livvy, the team owner's daughter who struggles with her own place in a male dominated sport.
When Livvy realizes the potential that Maddox has untapped, he agrees to let her coach him in secret, which then leads to a friends-with-benefits situation. I mean, win-win!
This book is so spicy! Their chemistry is perfection, and Livvy's checklist has Maddox going all out (and in) to show her that her wants and needs are deserved. And how hot is that?!
While this book is quite heavy on the football lingo, the story is great, and it was a nice change to see Maddox as an mmc who has to fight his way to the top. But when a new team, the Rock City Renegades, were created each team had to give up players and Maddox Dane was an option. I loved this so much! Another all-time favorite read from C.L. Rose. I don't know how it's possible, but I fall more in love with every release.
Livvy was such a fun character. She was confident, sassy, and really knew her stuff.
Maddox is the underdog that was trying his best and just never quite got to where he needed or wanted to be and didn't really have anyone in his corner.
They complimented each other so well. Livvy gave Maddox the training and support he needed to reach his potential while Maddox rebuilt her confidence in other ways.
It's low drama and low angst with lots of heart and steam. If you've been reading C.L. Rose since the beginning, then you know just how incredible her steam is, and this is no different. We get a kinky list and a hero that is determined to check off everything on the list with a deliciously filthy mouth.

CL Rose is back in the world of football and ugh, I love it so much!!
Football is in Livvy's blood, her soul. She dreams of coaching but her family legacy is resting on her shoulders; she is willing to sacrifice her dream for her family and her city. She talks her father into drafting Maddox Dane - Mr. Irrelevant. Maddox has the inherent talent and ability but lacks the confidence and flails under pressure. Livvy sets out to help Maddox with his game, in secret, so they can bring a renewed sense of hope to their team.
This book was BINGEABLE. I devoured this within 12 hours, some Mum life sprinkled amongst it. I adored Maddox; he was such a sweetheart and I really loved him for Livvy. The connection was fire from the get go; they were so hot together.
Here's some other things I loved:
- the relationship between Livvy and her sister (who I hope gets a book! She's hard case!)
- the tension between Maddox and Livvy. It was so THICK. I was just waiting for someone to make the first move, honestly.
- the trust being built in the early stages really strengthened their relationship
- the communication and aftercare 😍
- the way Maddox showed Livvy that it's okay to do and take things for herself
- the praise and degradation hit SO WELL
- Livvy's birthday present 😏😏
- the fact that the conflict wasn't centered around her father! Big bonus points for this!!

This book was amazing! I loved the story line and how these two unlikely main characters came together. The coaches daughter and the underdog star athlete. Can they keep their relationship under wraps or will they risk it all to be together? The spice was top tier it made me sweat 🙈 but the story was never lost! Grab this, you o won’t be disappointed!

I really wanted to love this book. It has all the makings of a strong sports romance, but it just didn’t land for me. I struggled to connect with the characters, and a lot of the drama, like keeping their relationship secret, felt unnecessary and over complicated. Livvy’s ambition as a sports nerd who dreams of becoming a female NFL coach was one of the better parts of the story, but her training to take over her dad’s expansion football project fell flat. By the time I went to write my review, I realized not much had stuck with me, which isn’t a great sign.
Since this book is set in Cleveland, I wanted it to feel like Cleveland. While the fans here are loyal and intense about sports, our football team is far from stellar. The idea of our city landing an expansion team felt unrealistic, and the book didn’t capture the real vibe of the city.
🌶️ Spice rating: 3.5/5 peppers. The sex scenes were easily the highlight. Maddox and Livvy experiment with a mix of kinks: dominance, role play with a “daddy” dynamic, bondage, and a secret sex list. Some moments worked, others felt forced, and at times it seemed like the author was trying to pack in too many elements. I’ll give Maddox credit for enthusiasm, but the “no refractory period” stretched believability. Magical unicorn dick might be fun in theory, but it pulled me out of the story.
My favorite spicy moment was Maddox getting a piercing as Livvy’s birthday gift so she could cross it off her list. It was sweet, dirty, and memorable, even if the healing timeline made me raise an eyebrow. (Realistically, it takes 4–6 weeks before sex is safe after a genital piercing, and an athletic cup rubbing against fresh jewelry doesn’t sound like great aftercare.) Nerdy fact-checking aside, it was one of the more unique and fun scenes.
Outside the bedroom, the story was uneven. The “daddy” dynamic came across as awkward, and Maddox swinging between loving Livvy’s sass one moment and threatening punishment the next felt inconsistent. C.L. Rose is the queen of football 🏈 romance and I love her for it. Maddox and Livvy are everything. The way their relationship starts as a no strings attached, secret relationship soon turns into the most beautiful love story that neither of them can walk away from.
Maddox Dane is so kind and sweet. He makes sure Livvy feels safe and protected. I love how he makes sure her Kinky Check List gets completed. That man was on a mission to complete it. The mouth on that man had Livvy begging for more. 🥵
He calls her Dime, she calls him Mad Dog. Together their chemistry is unmatched.
Maddox Dane gets picked up for the Rock City Renegades. Maddox was the very last player picked in the NHL draft. Mr. Irrevelant they call him. He feels as though he is never good enough to be first. Until Livvy Grant, the coach's daughter sees magic in him and convinces The Renegades that they need Maddox. She then coaches him (at midnight) to help him reach his potential that she sees in him. I love how knowledgeable Livvy is when it comes to the game she loves. She doesn't take crap from anyone. I loved her strong female character energy.
Together, they help each other feel safe and protected and I absolutely adored this couple. "Mr. Irrevelant" might just be my new favorite C.L. Rose couple. Maddox and Livvy will not disappoint! ❤️

I absolutely loved Maddox and Livvy! I’m so glad he wasn’t a douche like so many other sports romance MMCs are. And the mouth on this man was downright filthy!
I did find the FMCs reasoning behind why they couldn’t be together kind of dumb especially when she went into more detail but she got over that kind of quick. Thank god for no third act breakup!
Now I need book 2 ASAP!
