Gabriel "Gabe" has ascended to the throne of the Demon Territory, inheriting power amidst whispers of treachery and dissent—a job he never wanted, and yet here he was. Doing it.
As he navigates the treacherous waters of politics, betrayal, and hidden agendas, a fiery, taboo love ignites within the worst possible time, from the worst possible place—a human whose loyalties lie with a rival faction of demons. A woman who is more ghost than reality-no name, no past, no way to find her.
Their undeniable chemistry clashes with the looming threat of Gabe losing the crown, his head, and the weight of duty to his people--all while he searches with his allies for another key to saving their realm.
Each stolen moment with this woman who consumes his every thought, he wrestles with desire for her, and the need to keep her away from those who would destroy him, and anyone he's tied to.
When dark secrets come to light, the question of loyalty arises—is she working against him to have his head on a pike?
In a world where trust is a luxury and danger lurks at every turn, some bonds are not meant to be broken.
Even if if possession of the one he wants will cost him everything.
A long time ago, in a galaxy far away, I was born into a family of Star Wars nuts. I have a lot of siblings (somewhere I lost count but I think there was more than could be numbered on one hand) and being one of the young padawans I was subjected to Star Wars marathons, on a regular basis. If you've read any of my books you'll see there is often a reference to said movies as a small homage to my upbringing. May the force be with you and all that jazz.
I started writing when I realized I didn't want to grow up not believing in magic, or not believing in creatures everyone else said didn't exist. That being said, I have never seen a fairy, unicorn or dragon. I had a neighbour who swore they fed the leprechauns in their garden, but I never caught the little buggers no matter how long I lay in wait. (And consequently had to help the neighbours plant new flowers to replace those I killed waiting for the leprechauns to show their faces.)
Along the way, I found my husband who is the rock that keeps me from floating away into my dreams, and we have a little boy who is the centre of our world. Living on a farm keeps us busy (as if the writing wasn't enough) and I have more than my share of stories about wrestling with cows, helping birth calves and ending up in the creek during the process, falling in the mud (we'll call it mud but we all know that on a farm, mud is rarely mud) and chasing escaped livestock in the hopes the four legged convicts don't make it to the highway.
I've taken up archery, and the goal is to move into horseback archery in time (you know, when I can hit the target on a consistent basis) and when no one is looking, I love to bake (this doesn't happen often as it's hard to keep the sweet treats in stock with two boys in the house.)
As to what's coming next for me? More stories (since those never stop inside my head, I might as well share them with all of you!) and more adventures. Pretty much, when the fancy strikes, I'll jump on it. Leap before you look I'm sure that motto was created for me.
Or was that . . . think big and dream bigger, ready, set, pull the trigger . . . yeah. That one is a good one too. But only if you have a gun. And are hunting elephants. Which is not cool because of so many reasons. Let's stick with the first one with an addendum.
Leap before you look and let your dreams carry you on their wings. And that, my friends, is me in a nutshell.
🜲 Characters 🜲 Even tho I read all the previous 6 books, I totally forgot who Gabe was lol. I did remember him in the end, and I was really surprised seeing that side of him. Mari was the best character. I loved her, and the things she's gone through were horrible. The other characters we got to meet in the story were also beautifully made, and their voices were very easily differentiated from the other character voices. Myrr as usual whenever she shows up is a force of nature, and I love her character, she needs her own book at this point!!
⚔︎ World-Building ⚔︎ The Demon world was feeling very hopeless and dark, but such an interesting take compared to the other world. I also love the details offered by the author in the world-building the creativity behind it.
♡ What I liked/Disliked ♡ As usual, the book is short, but packed with A LOT of adventure, crime mystery, and magic. Doves that are way more than they let people know, and characters that feel so much, and go through so much. I loved following Gabe's footprints this time and seeing this world from his eyes, and Mari's. I am really excited for the next books and I can't wait!!
🔥 Spice Level/Potential Triggers 🔥 There are some spicy scenes mentioned, but they're quite mild. I'd say they're around 3 and a half pepper flames. The spicy scenes do not involve the main characters together, but separately because there's a lot of sexual tension and they need to release the steam. Loved the impossible love feeling between them, and so invested in how things will go forward.
I'm so excited to be back in the Alpha Territories! I inhaled the first two trilogies a couple of months ago and have been eagerly awaiting this one's release ever since.
Gabe, the newly crowned demon king, is searching for the human key living in his kingdom, one who can help him and the other Alpha Territories leaders save the world from a dark goddess bent on vengeance and destruction. He demands that Mari, known as the Briar Queen, head the search.
When Mari defies Gabe’s orders to meet with him one night, he demands her true name, a name she's kept secret, even from her closest friends, because in the demon territory, names have power.
Now in possession of her true name, how will Gabe use it, and will he discover the other names and faces she goes by? Is it safe for Mari to proceed with her plan to escape the territories, or will she be stuck there for the foreseeable future?
Gabe and Mari's sparring and their delicious tension kept me glued to the page. I love how intrigued Gabe is with her from the start, and Mari's refusal to back down from anything he throws her way.
Also, Myrr, our crazy, old Oracle, whom I simply adore, is back. As always, she's eating her way through the kingdom, while spouting hilarious nonsense mixed with wisdom, truth, and prophecy.
This book is part of a series of interconnected trilogies, but you do not have to read the previous ones. FBF is the start to the latest trilogy, making it a good entry point for those who want to jump right in. However, if you decide to start with Taken by Fate, you will get a more immersive understanding of the Alpha Territories world and the overarching plot connecting them.
I had so much fun returning to this world 🖤✨ I didn’t realize how much I missed the chaos, the politics, and the absolute badass energy until I was back in it. And honestly? Forged by Fate felt like the perfect way to dive back in.
Mari completely stole the show for me 🔥 She was strong, composed, and fiercely protective of her people—the Doves—and I loved that about her. There was a quiet power to her, but also moments where her choices made me go “GIRL WHY” 😭 (affectionately, of course). Shannon Mayer always delivers on powerful FMCs, and this was no exception.
We also got Gabe again 😩🖤 And wow… his storyline hit hard. Thrust into ruling the Demon Territory—a role he never even wanted—he was drowning in politics, betrayal, and constant danger. The tension was real. Watching him juggle leadership, survival, and a forbidden attraction?? I was STRESSED in the best way.
And that romance… 😭🔥 a human woman with no past, no identity, tied to a rival faction?? The secrecy, the longing, the “this is a terrible idea but I can’t stay away” energy—chef’s kiss. Every interaction felt dangerous and electric. You could feel how much it could cost him… his crown, his life, everything.
The plot kept me hooked the entire time 🌀 I genuinely had no idea where things were going next. Twists, shifting loyalties, hidden agendas—it was one of those books where I just kept turning pages because I needed to know. And that ending?? I was equal parts satisfied and slightly offended 😂
Also, if you’re new—don’t worry! You can jump in here without reading the previous books, and still have a great time 🙌
✨ Perfect for fans of: 🔥 Badass, powerful FMCs 👑 Reluctant rulers & political intrigue 💔 Forbidden / taboo romance ⚔️ Demons, power struggles & betrayal 🖤 “I shouldn’t want you but I do” energy 🌀 Twists you don’t see coming 🤝 Found family & loyal allies
I walked away from this one emotional, entertained, and already desperate for the next book 😭📚 (even if I’m a little miffed at Mari right now LOL).
✨ Adult Paranormal Romance ✨ Royalty MMC ✨ Forbidden Love ✨ Touch Her and Die ✨ Secret Identity ✨ Prophecy ✨ Found Family
This is the 7th book in The Alpha Territories but the first one in the new Demon King trilogy. It can absolutely be read as a standalone but for a better overvieview of the world and plot, it's best to read in order. Gabe, the newly crowned demon king, is searching for the human key living in his kingdom. The key is one of many that can help him and the other Alpha Territories leaders save the world from a dark goddess bent on vengeance and destruction. He demands that Mari, known as the Briar Queen, head the search. But Mari has secrets and an agenda of her own.
I loved this new dive in to the Demon Territory! We got glimpses of Gabe in the previous books but with him becoming king, we finally get his story. Becoming king has it's own challenges but mixing that with searching for a magical human, battling demon politics, and hunting down a mysterious killer has Gabe wound up tighter and tighter. He demands the help from Mari, the Briar Queen of the Doves (the human females in Demon Territory). But he learns that he gets more than he bargained for with Mari as she spars with him at every turn and refuses to back down. Their tension and chemistry is fantastic and I, along with Gabe, am intrigued with their bond!
Myr is also back to help Gabe with the prophecy! That old, batty Oracle who only ever thinks about food is my fave! She cracks me up with her obsession to eat all the foods and that she never seems to listen to anyone. She is a loose cannon yet great comedic relief in the story.
Thank you so much to Shannon for the advanced copy! ❤️
This is my first trip to the Alpha Territories and although I was missing a little context about some of the other characters mentioned, it didn't lessen my enjoyment of Mari and Gabe's story. Mari is an interesting heroine and I found the way she moved between her different personas really clever, with only a few people truly knowing her. Her determination to solve the perpetrator behind the crimes towards the Doves leads her to forge an uneasy alliance with Gabe who is looking for a specific Dove who is crucial to the future of their world.
Its not just a straight forward mystery though; there are political moves, challenges for the throne and real treat of a fiancée. And then there is Myrr my new favourite side character; lobbing the tomato had me in absolute stitches as did just abut everything that came out of her mouth. Being an Oracle has definitely given her some leeway! The pacing was just right with enough emotional stakes mixed in with the action and humour and I was genuinely surprised at some of the twists towards the end. Gabe may be a reluctant King but he's doing this his way (I loved his entrance) and I'll be going back to the earlier books to fill in some of the gaps before book eight comes out.
My interpretation of the star system; 3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again 4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series 5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
Returning to the Alpha Territories felt like slipping right back into a world I didn’t realize I’d missed so much. This installment follows Gabe as he steps into his role as the newly crowned King of the Demon Realm, a role he never wanted. If it weren’t for needing the key hidden in that realm, he never would have accepted. But there’s no time for him to settle into the throne. A human woman, one of the captive Doves, unknowingly holds that key that is vital to saving both the human and supernatural worlds, and Gabe is determined to find her.
To do that, he turns to Briar Queen, the sharp witted human who has every reason to distrust demons but even more reason to be annoyed by the sparks that keep flaring between her and Gabe. Their reluctant chemistry, and fun banter, add a delicious tension to every scene they share. And of course, Myyr is back, bringing the perfect dose of humor and chaos that is one hundred percent her, lightening all situations. The banter, the danger, the reluctant alliances, all comes together in a way that makes the world feel alive and addictive.
Overall, it’s a fun, fast paced return to a realm full of magic, menace, and characters you can’t help rooting for. Oh, and the ending... I read this on my Kindle and was expecting 10% more of a story, but it went into a preview of a new Shannon Mayer release. I was slightly disappointed expecing more, but it was an overall great place to end this installment.
This was such a good book!! I adore this world, Shannon always has the best world building!! This is a continuation of The Alpha Territories series but, as it’s the first book in the demon world, it can be read as a standalone. The writing is amazing, as usual and I love how we learn more and more about this world as the series goes on.
Gabe is the newly crowned demon king and Mari is a madam who is straggling many different identities and is a human in a demon led world. The search for the human keys continues and Gabe is determined to get in, find her and get out asap. I love how Gabe is the quintessential morally grey MMC. He is focused, determined and oh so hot!! Mari knows how this goes, she has dealt with demons for a long long time and won’t bow to one now…. At least without a fight!! I love how sassy and mysterious she is as The Briar Queen!!
I love these tension between these two, they have the absolute best sparring!! Both are intrigued by the other but so resistant!! I love it when this happens in books and it always keeps me glued to the page!!
I also love Mari’s relationship with her Doves, especially Tulli and Feather, it gives me life to see their found family!!
Bonus mention for the ever hungry and easy oracle, Myrr!! She is so hilarious and I love reading about more of her adventures!!
Another tantalising romantic adventure from the Alpha Territories world. You don't need to have read the others before reading this one. But I recommend you read all of them at some point.
Gabriel "Gabe" has ascended to the throne of the Demon Territory, inheriting power amidst whispers of treachery and dissent—a job he never wanted, and yet here he was. Doing it.

Returning to a Familiar Place Coming back to the Alpha Territories is like returning to a familiar place, but this time we are following Gabe and Mari’s story. Even though we have met Gabe before, Mari is new and she is setting up to be a spitfire who is going to give Gabe a run for his money. This trilogy starts off in the Demon Territory, where Gabe is set to take the throne and become the Demon King, however reluctant he may be. As with all new rulers, he needs to find his place and see who is on his side and who is against him. He needs help to find the key and no one knows the territory better than Mari and her Doves, but can he trust her? Mari knows how to take care of her and her Doves but doesn’t know what to expect from the new Demon King, Gabe. He needs a favor and in return he says that he will find out who is murdering the Doves, but does she trust him and how bad will that mess with her plans. When a challenger comes forward to take Gabe’s crown and someone throws Mari into the heat of the battle, literally, they change quickly. Is the murderer after the key and can they find it before he does, or can he find it before they find him? I cant wait to see where this story goes and if we get to meet more rulers from other territories.
This is such a great read. The characters are well developed and the world building is fantastic! This is book seven in the Alpha Territories series and each and everyone of these books is well written. This book is about Gabe and his demon realm and Mari a human that is not only living in his realm but is doing well for herself and her doves. Gabe is on a search for a key that will help him and the other leaders of the other realms save not only their world but the human world as well. This book pulls you in and keeps your attention. I have read all of the other books in this series and each time I say this was my favorite, well this one might just be my favorite of them all. The twists just keep coming in this one and the pace is just right and the characters are not only likeable but somehow relatable. Who knew that I could relate to a demon? Not me that's for sure, that is until I read this book and learned more about Gabe. This one is a must read. You can read this as a stand alone but I really encourage you to start with book one, "Taken by Fate." The first book in the Alpha Territories series. This one is an easy five stars from me.
Forged by Fate book 7 in a series of Shannon Mayer’s this one is in the Demon territory. I would highly recommend starting from book one but it’s not necessary. Just wouldn’t want you to miss out on an awesome series. Lots of twists and surprises along the way. This is book 1 of the Demon territories as we get to know Gabe (demon) and Mari (Briar Queen/ human) and their parts in this series and watching them trying to save all the realms from evil. There’s a lot to take in but there was a spin with this story with a Jack the Ripper character killing human doves and demons as Gabe is battling for his throne and trying to protect Mari at the same time, along with trying to find a key to save the world. It’s a roller coaster for sure! Definitely a lot going on and though it ends and we get some closure to parts of the story, we are also ready to see where the rest of this story might take us. There’s loyalty, love, tension and heat and sadness all wrapped up in this story. I’m excited to follow Gabe and Mari as their stories unfolds and see what is in store for them. Just when we think we have things figured out Shannon Mayer throws in a surprise! Enjoy
We return to the Alpha Territories! In Forged by Fate, get a much closer look at the demon realm, especially the court. Gabe has taken his place as king, which provides both easy access and distractions to finding the key. One of the people most likely to be able to help him locate the key also has probably the least amount of incentive. The Briar Queen, head of a house of human prostitutes (Doves) in the demon realm, has her own plans and secrets to keep. She also has no interest in helping a fledgling king control his kingdom, when she can use the chaos to escape.
Will they find a way to work together to stop whoever is murdering the Doves? To find the key? To stop the ever-encroaching doom the Alpha Territories face? Or will all the progress the other couples have made be for nothing?
One of the best things about the Alpha Territories series is each book introduces new wrinkles, new characters, and yet keeps the feel of the original storyline. We do see some familiar faces in Forged by Fate, but it also works as an introduction to the world.
"Forged by Fate" is a whirlwind of dark fantasy romance that grabbed me from the first page! Shannon Mayer has crafted a world teeming with political intrigue and simmering passion. Gabe's reluctant rise to the throne of the Demon Territory is fraught with peril, and the forbidden connection he shares with a mysterious human woman adds layers of complexity and tension. The chemistry between them is electric, and I was constantly on edge, wondering if their love would save them or destroy everything.
Mayer's writing is captivating, painting vivid pictures of the Demon Territory and its inhabitants. The plot twists kept me guessing, and the stakes felt incredibly high. I was completely invested in Gabe's struggle to balance his duty to his people with his undeniable desire for this enigmatic woman. The question of her loyalty kept me up at night!
"Forged by Fate" is a must-read for fans of dark fantasy romance. It's a thrilling ride filled with danger, passion, and secrets that will leave you breathless. I can't wait to see what happens next!
Welcome to the Demons Territory! You've been with us through the Vampires, and the Wolves, and now we're on to the Demons. Meet Mari and the "Doves", the human's that were bought/bartered and ended up in the pyramid. The fierce Briar Queen, and the other "dragon ladies" that tend the flocks and keep things as dare I say, humane as possible. A new King has been installed, and as much as the hunt for the "keys" occupies him, Gabe literally has his hands full, and it's not going to be as easy as he had thought it would be. With his thoughts of returning to the casino as soon as prudent falling further and further from his mind, and talks with Raven and Diana showing they're no further along than he is, he's feeling a hard push to get things done quickly. With the rest of the "council" hot on the heels of the remaining keys in the other kingdoms, and the Oracle Myrr with her prophecies of "Beware the False Queen", you don't want to miss this new installation of Shannon's "Alpha Territories" series!!
OMG… what can I say?? I love being back in the Alpha Territories. This latest start of a new trilogy has made me so happy. While reading the other two trilogies set in the same world will bring a deeper knowledge of the characters and the over arching story, you don’t necessarily need to read them to understand what is going on. Each trilogy can stand in its own. But if you are a Mayer fan, then you’ve already read them anyways.
Gabe is the newly crowned demon king looking for the Key in the demon territory. Mari is the “queen” of the Doves. Mari and Gabe give off enough heat to burn the pages of the book. The intrigue, the twists, and of course the appearance of Myrr kept me in the edge. I flipped pages so fast the book ended before I was ready. And that ending…I was torn between being excited for the next book and throwing my kindle across the room lol. I’m definitely ready for the next one.
I loved Gabe's character in previous Alpha Territories stories, although they arent required to read this. I'm so excited hes getting his own story! But Mari... she's fantastic. Living with Demons since she was a child, strong physically and mentally, she's an adult that will fight for what matters to her, especially family. I'm so excited to keep going with this series. I loved Sienna and Dominic - the beginning of this world and vampires! Really enjoyed Raven and Diana - and werewolves! Now we're in Demon territory. And in every story, there's a FMC that's strong and willing to hit back against any odds; an Oracle that makes me laugh; a villain or two that keeps the danger present and unfolding; a family that an MC supports and defends and vice versa; a story that drags me in and doesn't want to let go. I cannot wait for more!
Then to end with a preview of Riftborn... I need more of that series too!
Forged by Fate is yet another incredible book from Shannon Mayer. The Alpha Territories is easily one of my favourite series and I loved entering the Demon Territories and getting Gabe & Mari’s POV’s.
Gabe has been a character that really stood out for me in the previous books and Mari is such a mystery. She plays many different roles and I’m honestly keen to unravel her story further in the next books. The instant attraction between Gabe and Mari worked well. While there was that attraction, the relationship build is still a slower burn.
The story continues the arc that has been developing through the other books in the series, but it can easily be read as an entry point into The Alpha Territories. For all the vampire, werewolf, demon and other paranormal creature vibes, I highly recommend the entire series.
Thank you to Shannon Mayer and Hijinks Ink for gifting me with an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
The Alpha Territories shows us how the Demon world is responding to the threat from the dark godess. Gabe returns to the Demon Court as the new King of the realm. He doesn’t want to be there but all of the territories plus the human realm is in danger and Gabe has to do his part by finding a key. He needs help finding this key, which brings in our FMC, Mari. Mari is human. Many humans reside in the demon world in working class roles. Mari is the Briar Queen. She oversees her doves in one of several brothels. She also has her chosen sisters with her. She is also feisty. As soon as Mari sees Gabe the fireworks begin. Myrr, the Oracle is amusing as ever. There are a couple of villains in this story. Someone is killing the doves. Mari makes it her job to find justice for the dead as well as getting out of the demon world. LOTS of action and emotions are present. Another 5 stars for Ms Mayer.
It's always nice to be back in the Alpha Territories, and this time was no different! When I say I devoured this book, I am not exaggerating! I could not put it down and tore right through it. Two of my top favorite tropes were included: enemies to lovers and found family! Along with some other great tropes like forbidden love, forced proximity, secret identity, reluctant allies, and touch her and die. I'm enjoying watching this spark between Mari and Gabe. I absolutely can not wait for it to ignite! ❤️🔥 There was once again humor and banter mixed in which gets me every time. There's a bit of a murder mystery aspect as well which kept me on the edge of my seat. Another good story to add to the series if you ask me. I quite enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to finding out what happens next!
If you're looking for a super binge-able NA Fantasy Romance series full of shifters, vampires, & more... be sure to check out the Alpha Territories series!
Forged by Fate kicks off a new trilogy within the larger series, shifting the focus to the demon realm and a new central couple. While this can technically be read without the previous six books, I do think having that background adds extra depth and enjoyment.
I really loved the new main characters and their dynamic—they brought a fresh energy while still fitting seamlessly into the established world. The overall fantasy elements remain strong, and the overarching storyline continues to build and escalate in a way that keeps longtime readers invested.
The romance starts off as a slow burn, but with an immediate sense of intensity and yearning that makes it feel explosive right from the beginning. It struck a great balance between tension and emotional pull.
Overall, this was a strong start to a new arc in the series. It expands the world while keeping everything that makes Shannon Mayer’s storytelling so addictive.
How exciting to be back in the Alpha territories! This can be easily read as a standalone, but is a continuation of the prior books in the series and you’ll likely understand a little better if you’ve read the other ones.
I’ve always liked Gabe, so I was thrilled to get more of his story. He’s a great main character and his chemistry with Mari is excellent. Mari was another solid strong female lead to add to Shannon’s ever growing list of kickass females. I enjoyed getting to know her and her Doves. This is a slow burn, but I’m looking forward to watching their romance blossom (hopefully) in the future. Lots of action and suspense, which kept me on my toes. Looking forward to the next one!
In this book, we follow Mari, a human woman living among the demons and Gabe, the newly crowned ruler of the Demon Territory.
This was actually my introduction to the Alpha Territories series. While it can be read as a standalone, it is clearly set within a much larger world. There are references to previous characters, other territories, and an overarching plot thread that has made me want to go back and read the earlier books (adding to my ever expanding TBR!). That said, I never felt completely lost, and the story does a good job of providing enough context for readers new to the series.
I really enjoyed the tension between Gabe and Mari, their chemistry is so good! They are both strong personalities trying to play the game in a world full of threats as Gabe is trying to establish himself as king and Mari wants to protect her own people. I also liked the mix of romance, murder mystery and larger politics, which made for an entertaining read.
This reminded me of the way Carissa Broadbent structures her Crowns of Nyaxia series, with separate couples and story arcs set within the same broader world. I liked how it felt both like a new entry point and part of something much bigger.
A recommended read for fans of Shannon Mayer, Carissa Broadbent, and interconnected romantasy series.
Thank you to author Shannon Mayer for providing me with a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Book 7 as we dive back into the Alpha Territories and this time we descend into the seventhell as Gabe takes his place as the new king. He is also looking for the key which they believe is hidden amongst the Doves, and enlists the elusive Briar Queen to assist in finding her. It’s dark and it’s treacherous as Gabe doesn’t have time for the politics and hidden agendas let alone a Jack the Ripper character who is killing the Doves off one by one not for the off the charts chemistry he and the Briar Queen have. It’s gripping, it’s thrilling and there are twists and turns you will not see coming and yes I gasped, yes I cried and yes I could not believe it when came to the end of this book. I can’t wait to carry on with this adventure.
Forged in Fate is a continuation of the Alpha Territories that follows a new couple. After the demon king dies in the battle at Wolf Territory, Gabriel becomes next in line. He is a reluctant king but the position may help him find the next key in demon territory. Humans in demon territory are slaves and women are Doves or women of the night. The best way to find the key is to team up with the Dove queen known as the Briar Queen. The book is from Gabe's and the Briar Queen's POV. I enjoy dual points of view. I think it helps provide a fuller picture of the story. You learn different nuances from the different perspectives. I liked the book and I look forward to the next one. I want to find out how they bring down the vengeful goddess.
I am so happy to be back in this world with this series opener. I’d forgotten how much I love it. Anyway, we are introduced to Mari and reintroduced to Gabe. (You definitely don’t have to have read the previous series to enjoy this BTW.) I love Mari’s poise and strength for her fellow Doves, her workers. As with all this author’s books, I couldn’t really predict where we were going from page to page, and I loved the twists and turns. This is a great series opener, and I can’t wait to read what comes next even if I’m a little miffed at Mari at the moment. LOL! Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
This is a continuation of The Alpha Territories series but with a new couple and territory at the centre of it. The timeline for the destruction of the world is moving very quickly now, after the events at the end of book 6, so Gabe, as the new King of the Demons, should be putting all his effort into finding the girl with the key. To be fair he is trying to but with a murderer on the loose and a woman he can't get off his mind he is slightly distracted! I loved the instant chemistry between Gabe and Mari, and how he worked out who she really was. Also love the way she sass's back at him, never mind that he's the king!
Ok. 5 stars because I LOVE this series. Have been a fan of Gabe since he first appeared and definitely fell for Mari too. I was under the impression that the series ended with this book. I never read a series until it’s completed. Granted I started this one because I was dying to start it. Still… why say 7 of 7?? Also I’ve read books from authors with maybe 300 fans and indie with way better editing. Caught multiple mistakes. For an author who is more popular in this genre, I suggest you fire whoever does your editing! I’ll do it for free. 👍🏼 🤪
Do you need to read the other trilogies to start this? No! Would it enhance your experience? Yes, probably. However, I haven't read the others and still could follow along easily enough and loved it!
Shannon does strong FMC's and found families so well. Loved this, felt the love for her "family", her frustrations, and her sorrows. I'm so excited to see where the next book takes us. Ahhh, Gabe...definitely need more of him, I loved him from the beginning and his "entrance". As for side characters, I am hoping for more of Luc as well.
Returning to the Territories for Gabriel’s story was an absolute joy. While this book stands strong on its own and delivers a gripping cliffhanger, it’s seamlessly interconnected with the rest of the series—reminding me just how much I love this world. I was hooked from the very first page and couldn’t believe how quickly I flew through it. Familiar characters from earlier books are expertly woven into the story, just as Gabriel appeared in theirs, which adds real depth and continuity. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment and am already anxiously awaiting the next installment.
If you love the Alpha territories series, this one fits right in. And if you haven’t started, it’s OK. You can enjoy this even without all the background. The new Demon, King Gabriel find himself trying to figure out how to run his territory while also trying to find the elusive key that may be hidden in his realm to save the world. Gabriel enlists the help of the mesmerizing yet reluctant human madame known as the Briar Queen to help him search for the human girl believed to be the key. Great story that will keep you turning the pages and leave you anxious for the next installment.
