He's the U.S. Marshall she never wanted to see again. She’s the one he can’t stop thinking about.
Six months ago, Vince saved Sage’s life, then disappeared without a word. Today, he’s back, and all she can think about is how much she wants to kill him...until she walks into her office and finds an actual dead body.

Vince spent his career with the U.S. Marshals trying to stay off the radar. Then Sage stumbled into his safe house living room. Since then, everything he’s done is to protect her.

With the grand opening of Sage's spa just weeks away and her construction site now a crime scene, she's desperate to find answers. Unfortunately, the only one who can help is the man she swore she'd never let get close again.

Bonded by safe house nights they both wish they could forget, Sage and Vince struggle to ignore the past while searching for the killer. When a second body is found, they must decide who they’re more at risk the killer or each other.

A second-chance sweet romance perfect for fans of Sara Adams, Jenny Proctor, and Katherine Center.

This book was an adventure! It had romance, mystery, a little suspense and was closed door. I really enjoyed the whodunit aspect of the mystery and I guessed wrong on who the killer was, so that was fun to be guessing the whole time!

Both MCs are in their late 30s early 40s as I remember and both have been divorced before. So they each carry baggage with them that kept them from being together in the past. Now they have a second chance when a murder brings them back together.

At times it felt like Sage was being a bit immature for her age, but in the end I did appreciate that she had character growth and moved on from that.

Read it if you like:
🖤Murder mysteries
🖤Closed door romance

I finished this one a bit ago and I had fun with it for sure! I feel like I need to go back and read book one though lol.

This book is on KU and it’s a mystery romance. So there’s a snarky FMC and a protective MMC. There’s also a unalived guy in the beginning of the book and a murder to solve.

There’s no spice in this book but there is language and death of course.

This book was a fun mix of crime solving and second chance romance!

Vince and Sage haven't spoken since things fell apart six months ago, but when a dead body turns up they may need each other to figure out who's behind it.

I thought the pacing in this book was really good! I also thought the murder aspect was not so predictable that I had it nailed down all along, but also foreshadowed enough that it didn't feel random.

I struggled a bit with most of the detective work being done by Sage just interrogating people even though she has no experience. These were some chatty suspects.

Overall, I think the concept was really fun! And it was nice that Sage definitely wasn't a damsel in distress.

Anyway, I think it's time to sign up for a self defense class.

This was a such a fun read. Really enjoyed getting to know these characters more, while still interacting with loved previous characters. The slow burn romance was so well done, it left me wanting more in all the best ways. I laughed out loud several times. The plot was full of engaging mystery and plenty of action. Always a bonus when there is a strong female lead.

Sage is back and settling into her new life. This would be a lot easier for her if dead bodies would quit turning up and Vince would keep his distance.

I loved this book just as much as the first. The suspense is turned up a notch and the love story is well developed.
