Moving back home to the gossipy small town of Drakesville, Pennsylvania was either the smartest thing I’ve ever done or the stupidest. After an impulsive decision to open my photography studio in my hometown, I was ready for a fresh start far away from my obsessive ex-boyfriend.
But my annoying brothers kept telling me the quickest way to get over someone was to get under someone else. Like the pretty coffee shop owner. But Willow was the friendly girl next door who was nice to everyone. And I couldn’t stop being tongue tied around her. Just like in high school.
Willow was the one who got away. The pretty popular girl I never stood a chance with back then. My brothers were wrong. She definitely wasn’t interested in me now. Right?
Danica Flynn is a marketer by day, and a writer by nights and weekends. AKA she doesn’t sleep! She is a rabid hockey fan of both The Philadelphia Flyers and the Metropolitan Riveters. When not writing, she can be found hanging with her partner, playing video games, and reading a ton of books.
It’s great to be back in the Murphy brothers world and this was such a sweet romance. “Capturing Her” is a sweet and romantic small town friends to lovers romance that was a great addition to the series.
Lachlan Murphy is back in his small town after finally breaking it off with his boyfriend. He’s a photographer and he’s opened his own studio with his assistant, Mindy. And right next to his studio is a coffee shop owned by one of his first crushes. Willow Rivers. Willow is happy Lachlan is back in town because she has always had a crush on him. Now that he’s back, she is ready to make her move but Lachlan is not reading the cues and is actually shy around her. He doesn’t think he stands a chance and a bold move by Willow shows him that she’s very much interested in him.
I love how in each book Danica Flynn always has some sort of inclusion in her stories. Having both Lachlan and Willow as bi characters made me so happy especially since both had same gender partners in the past. Lachlan is confident behind the lens, capturing all the best moments from his clients but definitely needs help with confidence in his everyday life. His ex did a number on him but coming home to his small town was exactly what he needed. Willow is sweet, caring and confident in her career and her life. I loved how she wasn’t afraid to go after Lachlan and let him know she was very interested in dating him. The boudoir photoshoot was the cherry on the top to let him know she was interested in him. Once the lightbulb went off in head, he was all in and so swoony with Willow. And once they got to the steamy scenes, he was a dominant man that took care of Willow. They had a real relationship and went through ups and downs that they worked on together. The ending was so sweet and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
Lachlan Murphy has moved back to his small hometown of Drakesville to get away from his ex-boyfriend and has opened his photography studio which happens to be next door to the coffee shop.
Willow Rivers owns the coffee shop next door to Lachlan's photography studio. They've known each other for years. Willow had a crush on Lachlan when they were in high school together but nothing ever became of it. Even now he shys away from her when she talks to him and asks him out on a date. She thinks he doesn't like her but he really does, he just doesn't think he has a chance with her.
All of their friends as well as his brother's tell them they should go for it but getting it to happen is another issue. They both had come so far in being accepted, even when they were kids. "There were still those who thought we were abominations, but tonight, I saw all the possibilities that one day, a new generation wouldn't have to endure that hate."
4 stars I loved Mindy, assistant. This was a little different read than what I usually do but I thought Danica did a nice job with it
Lachlan Murphy opened a photography studio in Drakeville Pa, a suburb of Philadelphia and is moving into the upstairs apartment. He broke up with longtime lover when he once again cheated on Lachlan and to get away from him and start anew. Decided to move back to hometown where he knew everyone and everyone knew him...and ran into the shop owner next door, his high-school crush Willow Rivers. She owns the Daily Drip coffee shop and a coffee roasting facility nearby. She had broken up with previous lover and is currently unattached also...and asked Lachlan if he wanted to go for a beer soon as she secretly had a crush on him also in school...Lachlan had to be upstairs and ran away from her...since he blew off invitation as someone welcoming him back but not a serious offer...which his assistant Mindy laughed at...saying he had no game...and every time he sees Willow, has somewhere else to be and runs off before they can really have conversation...but will he finally go out with Willow?? You will need to read the story to see what happens...I voluntarily read this book through an Advanced Reader Copy.
4.5 stars. This story is dual POV, well written, and a sweet and steamy, small town, shy male photographer recovering from a bad partner (Lachlan)/bolder female entrepreneur (Willow), contemporary bisexual romance. I enjoyed the contrast between Lachlan and Willow’s social interactions contrasted with their intimate preferences. I enjoyed Willow’s initiative and her willingness to keep reaching out for Lachlan. I empathised with Lachlan’s absolute obliviousness and enjoyed seeing him realise that Willow seriously wanted him. I enjoyed the intimate play with Lachlan’s photography and steamy intimate scenes. I enjoyed the importance of the supportive, integrated, and, at times, pushy secondary characters who helped Lachlan and Willow establish their relationship. I enjoyed cameos from characters in previous stories and the set up for future stories.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
4.5 Lachlan is moving back to his hometown to get away from an abusive ex and reunites with his high school crush, Willow, who owns the coffee shop next door to his new studio space. Two extremely talented artist bisexual boss-babes, what more could you want for a power couple?
Love loved the journey between Lachlan and Willow, when they both had crushes on each other in high school but never shared their feelings it really brings it full circle that they’re having trouble sharing their feelings now but I’m so glad they got this second chance. Super healthy interactions and of course love the family dynamics on both sides. Can’t wait for more from Drakesville!
Welcome back to Drakesville, where all hot Murphy brothers live!!
This one is about the youngest, Lachlan, and his longtime crush Willow. It was a really cute story, although I could kick those two in the b4tt some times. Especially Lachlan. The way he acted (or actually not acted) made me yell at him a few times! Lol!
I really enjoyed their story and the praise for the bi community.
I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
Escaping an ex and coming back to his home town, Lachlan discovered Willow a coffee shop waitress.
Willow was sweet, smart and fiesty against Lachlan who was sure of himself and knew what he wanted. They sure had chemistry and that dynamic was great but when trouble came, Willow supported Lachlan the best she could.
A little tension and intrigue in this story along with a great romance. It was so well done I loved the book and so glad I had the pleasure.
What an interesting romance. This was an engaging romance, where you kept hoping Lachlan would realize willow cares for him. I enjoyed seeing how everything unfolded and how they both were able to get what they truly wanted. I loved when Willow finally spelled it out for him. This was a great small town romance. I recommend you read it. I received a copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really loved Lachman and Willow. It's rare in books for it to be the guy who has trouble seeing the signs that the girl is flirting with him. I loved Lachman for his naivety, his respect for Willow, and his sensitivity. It took a stubborn woman like Willow to make him understand things. Two people with past relationships that have affected them will help each other heal.
I absolutely love this series and was excited to read it early. I'm looking forward to more in the Murphy Brothers world and seeing more of the characters and businesses from the other series set in the town.
