Bro actually just drops some of the hardest lines in science in this one.
Learned a bunch about how vaccines are made and how good intentions can often have pretty bad repercussions, like polio virus vaccine mutations causing non natural polio infections, and yellow fever vaccine passaging through animal models causing new viruses to be introduced. The importance of informed consent was talked about a lot and the book argues that it is an important protective factor against disasters like the Tuskegee experiments and HIV tests in Africa, preventing infected participants from receiving appropriate care. The book discusses the debate about the natural vs lab origin of COVID-19 and brought up interesting points about suspicious funding by the NIH and NIAID for gain of function mutation research in Wuhan and the curiously artificial appearance of the SARS-CoV2 genome. Additionally, the book discusses some of the issues that appear from conflicts of interest in medical research, in that many such institutions regularly are permitted to investigate themselves and that there is minimal transparency about what causes and political figures they donate their money to. The book ends by explaining how many pharmaceutical and academia researchers have minimal rights to any new drugs they develop and to incentivize researchers to keep creating new innovations, they should have more control over their own creations and discoveries and universities and drug companies should be held accountable for charging insane prices for drugs funded by taxpayer dollars.

My wife was a BMT(bone marrow transplant) nurse practitioner and knows this doc and bought his book. She kept telling me how great the book was as I was rolling my eyes because I thought she just liked it because she peripherally knew this doc(BMT is a tight community).
I finally read it. Holy crap incredibly well researched and smart writing. Any time I thought he was starting to range into conspiracy theory territory he backed it up with cold hard facts. I will probably read it again in a few years
I was a front line ER doc during COVID and had to deal with the COVID mess. Amazing that with all nature can to do to harm us a lab engineered a virus to make it more virulent.
As an aside, this is another scary story in our modern increasingly dystopian world. Frightening how close we are to mass death of humanity from so many things and yet we continue to dismantle the regulatory agencies that protect us to protect corporate interests.
