Elemorix: Embers of Chaos

Rate this book
The fate of the world lies in the hands of the forgotten.

Zephira Voidspire has spent her entire life fighting against the expectations forced upon her as a powerless Void in a world of Elementals. Until a fateful invitation to the prestigious Elemorix University arrives, and she is thrust into a realm of magic, rivalry, and dangerous trials. Zephira’s presence forces the Elementals to confront their deepest that the people they have spent centuries oppressing might finally have the power to fight back. As her world teeters on the brink of revolution, Zephira must harness her volatile powers and fight against a system designed to destroy the people she cares about.

But her greatest obstacle—and her only chance of making it through the University’s dangerous Unity Trials—is Draven Skyrend, heir to a powerful Wind Elemental family. Raised to see Voids like Zephira as inferior, Draven views her presence as a threat to everything his family has sworn to protect. Yet with every clash of wills, every shared trial, and every secret revealed, the lines between rivalry and forbidden love blur.

From the shadows, the leader of the Elemental Council, known as the Ascendant, orchestrates a plan to crush Zephira’s rise before it shatters the Elemental order. Bound together by fate and rivalry, Draven and Zephira must decide whether to trust each other—or risk shattering the fragile balance holding their world together and igniting a revolution where love is tested, and Voids and Elementals stand on opposite sides of war.

This novel contains mature themes and strong language. Intended for adult readers.

This book had everything I want in a romantic fantasy. Tension, banter, trials, high stakes, and a strong heroine who is absolutely not giving up. The cover is STUNNING and the art inside is absolutely beautiful!

Zephira is such a feisty and loyal FMC. She would do anything to save her people and her family. Draven has some of the best character development and growth I've seen.

If you like elemental magic, high stakes trials, rivals-to lovers-to enemies, and a cliffhanger that leaves you GASPING, then this is the book for you.

I promise you won't regret it!
P.s. The elemental magic TOTALLY reminds me of Avatar: The Last Airbender. So, added bonus if you loved that show as much as I did!

Such a new and unique story. Although inspired by other fantastical worlds, LaRocca has woven this setting into her very own and breathed new life into the story telling world.
Enemies to lovers, academia, trials, dystopian fantasy, forced proximity. What isn’t there to love?
Additionally, the author has a great way of using subtle symbolism to drive home emotional moments in the story with an intricate depth.

Now, onto the depravity…
If Draven mfkin Skyrend says “Look at me” one more time, I’m gonna bust. And that’s a fact. Can’t wait to jump into Rebellion soon!

Elemorix is the perfect blend of so many tropes that I love! It gives SERIOUS Harry Potter, Spark of the Everflame, Hunger Games and Avatar the last airbender vibes.

The beautiful landscapes and crazy banter made it a page turner, but the slow burn, enemies to lovers, cool creatures and elemental magic made it so good I couldn’t put it down.

A.K Larocca obliterated my senses with the twists and turns, the plot line was fantastic and I’m honestly just in awe with how good this book is! 10/10, I wish I could wipe my memory and read it again!

This book was amazing. It’s a magical school theme, but there’s heavy lessons in this book. Voids are discriminated against and children must overcome prejudices that were taught to them by their parents. It has elemental magic in it with a twist. The slow burn romance in this book was also fantastic, can’t wait to see where that romance goes in the second book. The cliffhanger at the end of this book had me on the edge of my seat as well!

The only "not great" part of this book is the spelling of names. I will forever be misspelling everyone's names. love the plot. love the world building and character structure. the author is an absolute best friend if you find her on social media too!!

Thrilling fantasy/sci-fi!!

Elemorix is an electrifying blend of fantasy and sci-fi that grabs you from the first page and doesn’t let go. Zephira Voidspire is a fierce and compelling heroine, defying the odds in a world that sees her as powerless—until she proves just how dangerous she can be. The tension between her and Draven Skyrend crackles with intensity, making their dynamic one of the most gripping aspects of the story.

The worldbuilding is rich and immersive, seamlessly weaving together magic, politics, and revolution. The Unity Trials are thrilling, the stakes are sky-high, and the deeper themes of oppression and resistance add layers of depth that make this story truly unforgettable. With stunning twists, breathtaking action, and a romance that keeps you on edge, Elemorix is a must-read for fans of epic fantasy with a sci-fi twist.

If you love stories about forbidden alliances, powerful rebellions, and a heroine who refuses to be broken, Elemorix is an absolute must-read. And the cliff hanger at the end? Excellent book!!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Okay WOW… where do I even start!? I began Elemorix a few weeks ago, then life (aka being a mom and a teacher) got in the way. Today I picked it back up and literally DEVOURED the rest in one sitting. I’m still screaming.

Draven is EVERYTHING. Possessive, intense, but also so caring. When he said, “Good. Hate me. Just don’t leave,” I gasped. Then when he dropped, “You’ll trust me with your body but not with your heart,” I had to set the book down and process my entire existence. He is that guy.

But the true star? Zephira. I adore her. She’s strong, relatable, and I rooted for her every single page. I also loved the friendships she built! Ellie especially, who was loyal from the very start. And Nyx!? YASSSS SHADOW QUEEN 👑 I cannot wait to see more of her.

Also, the spicy moments? CHEF’S KISS. Just the right balance; steamy enough to make me kick my feet, but deeply emotional so you feel the love between Draven and Zephira.

And then… that ending. The cliffhanger with her parents, the way Draven came through for her. I CRIED. Actual tears.

This world is stunning, the writing is addictive, and I already cannot wait to dive into Book 2. If you love fantasy, romance, friendship, strong women, possessive men, and a story that will rip your heart out in the best way possible… read this book immediately.

Ohhhhh A.K. you have twisted my heart all up! I was so invested in this story that I couldn't put it down. If you like a hella strong badass FMC, dystopian society, enemies to lovers, and a plot that grips you tight, this is for you! The sexual tension, Lorddd, help mel! The personal growth of both characters is amazing. Especially the personal growth of Draven, a true turn around in someone who you thought might be irredeemable. It has elemental magic, primal beasts, and deadly trials where two people who hate each other must work together to survive.
I loved how both characters realized how you were raised and the views imposed on you are not always the truth. Their growth together to overcome their prejudices and preconceived notions is what I really love about the story. A.K. Larocca spins a tale of hard truths, unexpected and forbidden love and the strength of character to let go and trust. I absolutely loved this book and can't wait to read Rebellion!

I loved this book! Watching Zephira grow and learn about her new abilities was such a rewarding journey. I really enjoyed seeing her find her place in a world that constantly tried to push her down. The friendships she made along the way were some of my favorite parts — they added so much warmth and heart to the story. And don’t even get me started on her blooming feelings for Draven… I was completely hooked watching their connection unfold.

That ending, though! I wanted to reach into the book and give Zephira a little smack for some of her choices (in the most loving way, of course). It definitely left me eager for the next book. The world, the magic, and the tension between Voids and Elementals all came together beautifully. I’ll be thinking about this one for a while!

Advertised as a Hermione and Malfoy-inspired story. I get it and completely loved it. What I liked most was that I was able to see the Harry Potter inspiration, but it wasn’t a retelling with a twist. The author took a spark ignited by the wizarding world and created her own magical wonder that was all her own.

Zephira is the determined mud-blood worth rooting for. Draven’s character development is so strong and incredibly quick.

A lot happens in this. Because this book is only just over 400 pages, a lot seems to get glossed over and can feel rushed at times. Something that maybe should have been pivotal to Zephira’s development or the overall storyline is summed up in a sentence or two. Felt like most of the book was condensed to fit in a very limiting space. One that was too small for AK's vast creativity.

The fact that Draven goes from 0 to 100 when it comes to his feelings for Zephira is a bit head-spinning, but not off-putting. Zephira, on the other hand, is not too believable. Believable may not be the most accurate word. As a character, she is, I understand where she is coming from and why. More like relatable? Her background is well established, and an excellent motivator.

We are constantly bombarded by how annoying and frustrating she finds Draven. Next thing we know, she is professing her feelings and ready to give herself to him. The steam, honestly, I could do without. The slow, almost one-sided burn was enough that it didn’t need explicit scenes beyond PG-13. Seemed out of place. Emotions are high, for each other and their situation, but clean and innocent. Out of the blue, Draven talks dirty to her?

I absolutely love the foundation set for the bigger plot. There is more going on than either of them ever knew. Kept me completely immersed and quickly turning the page. Suspenseful.

🔥 Just finished Elemorix and I’m OBSESSED.

If you love elemental magic, slow-burn enemies-to-lovers, and a fierce heroine with dangerous powers—this one’s for you. The worldbuilding? Chef’s kiss. The tension? Immaculate. The romance? Just the right amount of spice and angst.

It’s giving Grishaverse meets Throne of Glass vibes, and I couldn’t stop turning the pages.

🖤 Add this to your TBR ASAP!

A remarkable journey for readers who devour deadly trials, magic academies, witty banter, enemies to lovers to…, unique elemental magic, animal bonds, friendship, rivalry, betrayal.

Larocca did an amazing job of taking inspiration from a myriad of stories I already adore and turning it into something new. Unique. Powerful.

I look forward to continuing this series.
