FROM THE GRIM REALITIES OF A POVERTY-STRICKEN CHILDHOOD in Dublin's inner city to an unexpected rise to fame, Smelly Kid is the raw and gripping memoir of Andy Lee. Abandoned by his father, orphaned by twelve, and left to navigate a world that seemed determined to cast him aside, Andy's early years were a relentless struggle for survival. Homeless and hungry, he battled against the odds, finding solace in the rare kindness of strangers and the rebellious spirit that refused to let him sink.
But Andy's story is not just one of hardship - it's a tale of resilience, transformation, and unexpected success. With humour and unflinching honesty, he takes readers on a journey from the streets of Dublin to the bright lights of the adult entertainment industry, proving that no matter where you come from, you can carve out your own destiny.
GRITTY, HEARTBREAKING, AND ULTIMATELY INSPIRING, SMELLY KID IS A STORY YOU WON'T FORGET.
Andy Lee’s a comedian, musician, and TV presenter, who became an award winning children’s books’ author by accident. The first book in this series was only ever meant to have one copy. Andy wrote it as a surprise for his sister and her husband to celebrate their son George’s first birthday.
When he asked his mate to print him one copy, his mate said, ‘This book is good, can we print more?’ What did Andy reply? ‘No. DO NOT print this book.’ Pretty sure you can guess what happened next.
My mother was born in Dublin, so I’m no stranger to stories about young children growing up in poverty, especially during a drug epidemic. This book, while gut wrenching at times, is also funny, charming and authentic. Andy talks about his rise to success in what some (not myself) may call a untraditional profession (even though it’s the oldest profession) but he is true to himself 100% and genuinely speaks from his experience and loves to support and help others achieve success along with him, even at the lowest points of their lives. Great read, 10/10
Andy Lee bares all (have we heard this before), including his adolescent trauma.
After hearing Andy promote his book on Petty Little Thing podcast I was intrigued, and I was not one bit disappointed. The origin story of the Only Fans model is a similar tale to lots of inner city Dublin kids, only few get out and usually rise to the top (see Katie Taylor for example). A truly remarkable story of determination, survival and resilience.
Wow, your life is why I read biographies. I reminds me that we never know others stories. I cried and celebrated your successes. A story worth reading and you get humbled. Porn work is just your job and what your very good at. Even through that industry you showed kindness and respect which is change how the industry is operating. A top class bloke and a big fan of all media.
