loved it from start to finish!

So, I had the pleasure of getting to read this story in advance, and I loved it so dang much! The chemistry between Mila and Tre was what had me hooked the most bc as soon as they reconnected, it was almost as if no time had passed. Both were dealing with their own struggles and traumas, but they were able to heal with each other. I loved the pacing of the story and loved being able to watch their love blossom. It was beautifully written and I can’t wait to read Mila’s sister Mya’s story 🤭 She was funny as hell btw lol

Mila and Tre

This about a love that was years in the making. And Tre’s promise to God, and bringing his faith to Mila to make for a lasting peace. Mila was a woman who had to find her voice after a marriage that only broke her.

Beautiful…

There’s a lot i admired about this story from perfect timing, families, growth, purpose and more. The way Karmen pulled emotions out of this book. You could feel every bit of hurt break, anxiety, love, insecurity, and more.

When it comes to friends to lovers I love how Karmen made their connection feel real. Rooted in actually having respect, love, and care for one another. Mila was strong but also showed her vulnerable side. The parts of her that questioned was she good enough and that made her more relatable . Honey i love the bond Karmen gave Mila and Mya because spoke life, light and love into her sister. Tre can’t at the right time to show how much Mila is worth it and how many people are in her corner.

Absolutely loved how Tre and his journey was written. Sometimes it will be written for the woman to go through celibacy. There are men that want that connection with God and feel the need to change to actually meet their wife. This is also the kind of man that wants to be a leader, provider, protector, and lover. Tre’s faith is absolutely beautiful and we get the struggle he has which shows nothing is completely perfect. Also how it helped Mila and him come together even more.

There’s so much more that you’ll have to read there book for yourself.

Cute Friends To Lovers

Mila & Tre were once friends who found themselves reconnecting after life took them down paths they no longer saw fit for themselves. After moving back home to their hometown they became inseparable and rekindling a love they both thought would never happen between them.

Their story was cute, a smidge of a slow burn with some few angsty moments that kept you wanting more.

Mila is strong, creative, and resilient even in the face of heartbreak. I admired how she extended grace, even when others didn’t deserve it.

Tre is the kind of character who wins you over immediately. He’s protective, patient, and intentional about his love for Mila and her children. What stood out most was how he valued friendship and faith just as much as romance, making their relationship feel grounded and real.

The story explores themes of resilience, spiritual growth, and the beauty of second chances. It’s tender without being overly dramatic, and the love story is built on trust, respect, and shared values. If you enjoy romances where the man truly shows up, the woman grows stronger, and faith is at the heart of the journey, this one is worth picking up.

The Way You See Me is such a beautiful and heartfelt love story that shows just how tricky and unexpected love can be. In high school, Mila and Tre shared a deep bond and connection, but neither of them ever spoke up about their true feelings. Life took them on separate paths—Mila went off to college and eventually got married, while Tre was left wondering what could’ve been if he had told her he loved her.

Years later, Mila is dealing with the pain of a failing marriage and a difficult divorce while raising two kids. Tre, on the other hand, is still trying to move on from the one woman he never stopped thinking about. When life brings them back together, old feelings start to resurface, but this time, both of them are more mature, more grounded, and more rooted in their faith.

What I really loved about this story is how it’s not just a romance—it’s about faith, growth, forgiveness, and timing. It shows that sometimes, God has a plan even when things don’t make sense in the moment. The way Karmen Scott wrote Mila and Tre’s journey felt so real and relatable—two people who have been through heartbreak, lessons, and healing, but still find their way back to each other because of their deep love for God and for one another.

This story reminded me that real love takes patience, communication, and faith. Mila and Tre’s love story proves that when something is truly meant for you, it’ll always find its way back—just in God’s perfect timing.

Absolutely beautiful, faith-filled, emotional, and romantic. A story I’ll definitely read again.

The Way You Love Me
Karmen Scott

Ja’Mya is the poster child for not catching feelings. Her childhood has changed her perception of the love she can receive. There isn’t a single part of her that’s willing to endure the possibility of that kind of heartbreak.

Derrick is a man with options, but he only has eyes for Ja’Mya. He pursues her in such a way that she can’t ignore his efforts.

When fear tries to get the best of her, he notices and does his best to make her feel seen and understood. His kindness stems from a genuine care for her well-being.

Even when there is a major bump in the road, Derrick handles himself with a level of maturity that many wouldn’t be able to extend themselves to.

Lastly, no one can prepare you to be open for the love you deserve. It’s a true labor of love to know that it has nothing to do with worthiness.
It’s what you deserve.

I wish some things could've been fleshed out more like her journey to self love, Tre relationship with her daughter's, her ex husbands transformation. Some dialogue felt repetitive between Tre and Mila but over very cute and innocent read. I love how they went on the journey together and constant communication on boundaries. Tre was so sweet, honestly they deserved each other.

Trey always saw Ja’Mila

This is my first read from this author, and I must say I enjoyed this book. I loved how Trey always showed up being unapologetically supportive, even when Mila pushed him away. The love that the sisters Ja’Mila and Ja’Mya had for each other was amazing because I have sisters, and it’s nothing like a sister’s love. I can’t wait to start book 2.

The way that man showed up and did play about her. And his relationship with God. Enough said….And Malik is 🗑️ He was playing every game. Luckily he got it together at the end
