Bundle of books 1 through 8 of the series. 2.75 star average

1. The Alpha Plague Book #1. I am not understanding how a man who loves his son so much could keep running back into trouble. He should be running away with his son to someplace safe. It's a lot ridiculous. 3 stars.

2. The Alpha Plague Book #2. I don't know why the cliffhanger from book 1 is okay but this cliffhanger irritated me. This man is acting irrationally. It was time to get out of town when you got your son. He'd get over it! 3 stars

3. The Alpha Plague Book #3. The bad guy reminded me of the terminator. You thought for sure he was done for and then he'd pop right back up. Good book. 3-1/2 stars.

4. The Alpha Plague Book #4. Vicky is really unreasonable. I know she feels stifled but give everyone a chance to breathe and then make a decision. And communicate! By not communicating, a lot of unnecessary stuff happened. 3 stars

5. The Alpha Plague Book #5. The author did a really good job of making most of the good guys look like lazy, idiots. And the main guy was so corruptible and clueless, it was ridiculous. 2-1/2 stars

6. The Alpha Plague Book #6. You know how I said that the good guys were clueless and lazy? Well they're not only that but they're delusional. They were so manipulated but then those people were also idiots. I'm getting where I'm not liking this series. 2-1/2 stars

7. The Alpha Plague Book #7. Flynn! What happened to you!? You were always the smartest, even as a kid. I can't take it any more. I only have one more book left in the series but I'm pulling my hair out at the stupidity, so I'm stopping. I may or may not finish the book. 1-1/2 stars.

8. The Alpha Plague Book #8. Wow, a poop mountain. The depravity is just awful. This was so horrific it was a struggle to finish it. I don't understand the ending. The world is so awful why would you leave. But anyway, I'm glad I'm finally finished. 3 stars

A novel beginning to the zombie apocalypse

I read the first in the series and was immediately taken by the descriptive prose of the character introductions. All the time there was an undercurrent that something would go wrong, and boy did it. You immediately become invested in the main characters, and this follows through all eight books. Favorites survive or are are dispatched throughout the epic, and the cruelties of living in a world after an apocalyptic event aren’t just from being deprived of the perks of a civilized society. There’s a lot of depth in these eight books and you’ll find yourself cheering on favorites and booing the antagonists. A riveting series which kept me reading into the early hours. Short chapters lead to the ‘just one more to see what happens next’ phenomena. Once you read one, you’ll want to continue, which is why the boxed set is such a joy to have. If you enjoy post apocalyptic/zombie stories, you’ll love this.

I read the whole series straight through over the course of a few days. A 'zombie apocalypse' tale with a difference.
Countries creating a virus weapon, has I suppose been a concern for the earths' population for many years now.
This series shows how this threat can be turned back on the creators with devastating results. The Alpha plague series covers a little over 20yrs after the release of the deadly virus.
As always the author Michael Robertson takes every opportunity to kill off one of our protagonists, even the children, showing that no one is immune!
The first jump of 10yrs initially threw me, but I can understand why Michael went this route.
I really enjoyed the whole series and I was sorry when it came to the end.

Interesting take on the zombie apocalypse

There are a few stories out there about the zombie apocalypse starting from a virus designed as a weapon but most have it accidentally being released this shows how that can be turned against those sick enough to think it up by those just as crazy but the story line was interesting the characters were well thought out you felt for them cared for them or hated them but the sign of a good story is becoming invested in the characters and in this you did you loved some and hated some recommend series

I wouldn’t want to be the protagonist

I really enjoyed the series although I tired of squelching so often. Every time I turned around, another of the primary characters met an untimely end. This actually makes the stories that much better. Don’t you hate the invincible good guy that never falters and always dodges a bullet? Well, the heroes in these tails are just as likely to eat a bullet as the next poor sap. Personally, it worked well for me.

I have reviewed each book separately, so will just say that this series is well-written, fast-paced and filled with action. It also has good character development - in some cases so good that it was horrible to see them go.

There were some particularly evil villains, too...and others awful, if not wholly bad. Some great descriptions gave it an atmospheric feel and definitely scenes of horror.

Overall, very well done and highly recommended.

Great Series

I read the series straight through over the course of 4 days. I recommend it for readers who are looking for this type of genre. The characters and their reactions and decisions are what makes the story plausible even if I wished for different paths and futures for them. Now with the stories complete I can go to bed on time, yes so good it kept me awake till long past normal bedtime.

Biological weapon gone wrong!

Very good story. Had to finish all the books in the series before I could rate it because something kept happening that made me go on to the next story. The plague turns almost everyone to something similar.to zombies, but the action doesn't end there. The story goes on from there. I would hope for a better world if a biological weapon ever backfired, but that's just human nature, isn't it?

From the first page to the last, Action filled.

I have never read a series so disturbing, yet I couldn't put it down. The Walking Dead is boring compared to the people that are affected by a man made virus.
Micheal Robertson writes the best characters, good or bad. And many people not infected by the virus are worse than the monsters the virus created.

All in all it can suck you in, but it’s longer than it needs to be, and I usually never want a story to end. Some of the books were nonstop action and super good, then I felt some could drag a bit.

First off I'd like to say this series is not a gun based zombie thriller, it is in a British setting where there is little to no access to guns which makes fighting up close and personal. I really enjoyed books 1-4 because of the different characters being used to tell the story as this dynamic is used to explain how and why everything happened caught my interest. I had a couple of issues with the series with one being repeated usage of words and phrases when descripting zombies or people dying. Some descriptions stood out being very unique while others even being major fights fell flat by over usage. The series started with the main characters sharing point of views and as it continued into books 5-6 this changed to only one person, I found this odd as I kept expecting to get some of the other characters' perspective in this timeframe as well. Overall I found this to be a thrilling read that had me caring deeply for the characters plights with emotions such as disgust, rage, love, sadness and a few times laughing at a witty comment a character has made. I hope anyone reading this finds this helpful in possibly giving this series a chance to shine.

Very typical post-apocalyptical saga

Typical saga with a plague released upon the world this time starting the United Kingdom. A father and a lady scientist rescue his 6 year old son his wife from your typical zombies and the resulting chaos that happens. The last two books are just horrible evil versions of the Hunger Games with a queen creating her own games. If you like bad language on every plage this may be for you NOT ME. Twenty years after the plague we follow the grown up child make ridiculous emotional choices that are simply dumb. I finished them all 8 books, but it was a chore.😴😫😕🤒

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I truly enjoyed reading The Alpha Plague and it’s great the author put this series in a box set. You save money and you get the whole series in one book. The Alpha begins with a virus breaking out and Rhys trying to save his son. This series spans over twenty years. The first part is Rhys story, the middle part is Vicky’s story, and the last part is Flynn’s story. This series has great characters and plenty of action. If you enjoy Post Apocalyptic Action books then you should definitely check out this series!

Lost me with off plot choices

Having all 8 books I was able to read the series straight through. The premise was interesting and the first book is exciting, tense and full of intrigue. Then there are these ten year jumps where the characters are stuck in the same place? The last two books are a series of how depraved can it go. Basically mad max all over.
Too many plot holes and inconsistencies making the stories harder to follow or care about characters who are just dropped in.

Good read

I'm not usually into books about the plague but as this series was free to me I ordered it. If you aren't into gross atrocities, blood , gorr and guts etc then its not for you. However, although I like a murder mystery the more gore the better (I know I'm strange lol) it caught my attention and I really enjoyed them. It spans 10 years of one person and 20 of another and circumstances change frequently. Does it have a happy ending? You'll have to read them and see.

A real page turner

I only gave only 4 stars because of the length of it. Other than seeming to go on forever this was an exceptionally well told, finely written story. The twists and turns keep your reader's attention. I laughed, I cried, I got angry enough to put the book down .... I even had the occasional "aha" moments. All in all, it was a great book and would make a great film.....
Highly recommended.

I LOVED this series

The premise was awesome and made sense, the storyline was exciting and extremely well written. I became really attached to the characters and invested in either their success or failure (dependent upon if they were good or not)
I will definitely look for more books by this author as he has shown that he can write innovative and creative storylines even in a genre that has seen pretty much everything you could think of already. Bravo!!!

Great Series

This is the best Post Apocalyptic Series I have ever read and that is saying a lot. Because I have read a lot of them, they seem to be my thing. This series is different though it's not the normal zombies. Though there is zombies, it's just different. You need to read it. It's great! I would recommend it to anyone over the age of 16 because of content. My new favorite author.

Excellent Series with great evolving story

Really enjoyed this series. Nice to have a apocalyptic series set in the UK, with familiar names and places. Storyline keeps you on your toes as several unexpected turns happen. All the lead characters are likeable and easy to follow. Only fault would be some Americanisms slipping into a British novel (like Gooseflesh rather than Goosebumps)

Great Read!

A very imaginative take on the post-apocalyptic world. Unlike most others I’ve read, the story spans a couple of decades. Life and death, struggles and resolve and the unfortunate way society could breakdown in the end. I agree with the author, be the change you want to see.

Interesting

I really enjoyed these books. It kept my interest thru all the books. I would have given it5 stars but I was not pleased with the F word used so much. It was not needed. This book could have been a good series for young people to read if the F word was avoided and one of the sex scenes could have been edited. Really good book.

Fabulous

I could not stop reading all 8 books. Brilliantly written and had me reading till the early hours every day until I finished the lot. There wasn't a single part in the whole set that became boring or long winded . One of the best set of books I've read. Absolutely fantastic and I will be highly recommending it to every reader I know.

I’m stuck between a 3 or 4 star rating.
I found some of the books dragged on a bit too much, like chapters just dragged and when you finally get to the next chapter, you’re still in the same scene.
Flynn got to the point of irritating me where I just wanted him to die and be done with.

While I did keep on reading until I’d finished all 8 books, it certainly wasn’t worth talking about.

Good zombie story

Fairly good Zombie tale. New concept from old idea of virus start. Almost too tightly focused on on small family group female lead with father small son and bright mother. Almost no humor that I really like in a story. Jumps ahead 10 years without any warning. Still kept me hooked till the end.

Alpha plague 1-8, based in UK.

WoW. A dreaded Virus, Zombies, survivors, Cannibals, lots of Action, two Main Characters, fights for survival between evil and good. I’ve shivered, I’ve cringed, I’ve cheered, but I’ve never cried as much as I have from a book about end of the world as we know it. One of the best sets of Zombie books I’ve ever read. WoW.

Great character development

I loved the way the characters developed through out the series. You can never count on what you think will happen. I found myself so pissed with things that happened to my favorite characters. But the way that it happens, its so captivating. I just couldn’t put the book down. I highly recommend this series.

Adictive

Each book in this series had the same characters with new problems. Full of twists and turns so is never boring or predictable. I did think some of the violence in book 7 is unnecessary and too graphic. On the whole a really good read and helped me get through lockdown this year

Fast paced

Boo hoo, I stalled my daily reading so I would not come to the end of the series. And now the time has come to say...I loved this series! The characters pull you right in and you keep on hoping for the best for them. Several tears were cast by cry baby me. Flynn and Rose walking into their next adventure in life.

Hmmm

I'm at chapter 5 location 858, and I really don't like Flynn, hes soft, ungrateful, entitled. and whiny, just like his father.
Although, I love that I can't predict what will happen next, this author is way to redundant with some of the characters speech, example: bile, spit, vomit nasty , and tears or crying
