Jace McQuaid made a name for himself in hockey by breaking all the rules. In the aftermath of a bitter divorce, he swears never to trust another woman again because they are all money-grubbing parasites like his ex-wife. After suffering yet another injury, Jace meets a sexy massage therapist and begins to question everything he ever thought about love. She seems like the perfect woman and has him imagining all kinds of scenarios with and without massage oil.

Violet James has finally figured out what she’s good at. As a massage therapist, she provides relief and healing to people of all ages. When her newest client turns out to be irresistible Red Valley Ravens player Jace McQuaid, Violet’s self-control is put to the ultimate test. She’s never felt such electricity with anyone, especially one of her clients. Too bad she’s already made a commitment to someone else. Will she give in to temptation and risk everything for a night of passion with one of hockey’s greatest legends? Or will her secret threaten to ruin both of their careers?

In the first three books of the RAZORS ICE series you met Ben, Nathan and JD, hockey players for the Red Valley Razors. You went along for the ride as they found their true loves in Ally, Sarah and Lauren in unexpected places like hockey practice, a hair salon and a wildlife refuge. But their teammates were left waiting on the bench!

Left winger Jace McQuaid has been nursing bitterness toward his ex-wife who cleaned out his bank account and left him skeptical of love and women in general. Then he meets Violet James, a sultry massage therapist, hired to help rehabilitate him and get him off the injured reserve list.

As Violet massages him back to health and thaws the block of ice around his heart, Jace rethinks his stance on relationships. What Jace doesn’t know is that Violet is harboring a secret that just might destroy everything they’ve built together.

I hope you enjoy Hot Ice, the next installment in the RAZORS ICE series. Please look for my next book in the series, coming out in 2015.

Best wishes,
Rachelle Vaughn

2.5 stars, rounded up for goodreads.

Overall, this was an okay book. It was written in 2014, so I wasn't expecting much, but there were quite a few problematic things, in my opinion (using the term cripples, just being one of them). I thought if there was way more communication, the book would've been better, but then there probably wouldn't have been a book.

The FMC is cheating on her fiancee with the MMC, and she does tell the MMC eventually, but like - there were no stakes. The fiancee, we learn, He figured the FMC was doing her own thing, not realizing the FMC was expecting an actual relationship with him, which then led her to cheating when she found someone else.

Anyways. Nothing about the book sticks out at me.

Jesus, another book I hate!!
The heroine was spineless, brainless, and had low ethics (she would rather cheat than breakup over the phone). I couldn't stand her. And here we go again with the fucking insta-loves. No wonder his first marriage didn't work, he basically buys an engagement ring with every box of condoms!

This was a quick, fun read. However, I failed to connect with the characters and actually root for them.

A great read by a newly found author! Now to get her other books!

This is the first book I have read by this author and I have to say I have found a new favorite author to add to my list! What a great story! The characters are so real and the author manages to get you all wrapped up in their lives. This story centers around Jace, a sexy, recently divorced bitter hockey player suffering from possible career-ending injuries and not handling it well. He meets his massage therapist Violet, who is involved in a bizarre engagement to a local doctor who barely tolerates her. The story covers how Jace and Violet interact with each other and with what life has dealt them. It's well worth reading to see what happens!
