So, we have come to the final installment of the Sexual Misconduct series. The other two books in the series were wishy washy for me. I don't know why, maybe because Avery was so bi-polar, or maybe because as a therapist she tried to fix everything about Xander except what really needed fixing. But you know what they say? The plumber has the leaky pipes. The electrician has the bad wiring in his home. The therapist can't get her you know what together.

Finally, all the lies or rather hidden truths were unveiled in this last installment. And it didn't just come out at once, it came out in a tidal wave that I thought was a bit--well, overdone. I don't think she would have game a crap so much about the Ellie sleeping with Xander stuff if she had known about it outside of the other thing she found out. Because how can you really blame someone for doing something before they met you? It is a bit unfair and actually very immature.

I did like this installment better because I felt bad for Xander oddly enough. I think most people are going to be like "Oh poor Avery!" Nope, not really. I think it was how she treated everyone on the onset of the situation that put me off to her. As a whole their relationship is very volatile and Xander needed to get help for the whole obsessive controlling issues first and foremost. It would have been nice for him to throw his hands up and be like "LATER!" I kinda wanted to see that so she had to come to him. I cried for him in the book nearly the whole way. Avery was a therapist knew his past, knew his issue, and used it all to shove it in his face to make him suffer.

I don't know, the story as a whole rubbed me very weird I was crying and I was annoyed, and I don't know. I like how they left it as 'they are still building' rather then some delicate little bow wrapped up all nice.

I'll tell you what I do want to see, since we are on a roll with the whole crazy relationships. Ellie and Ian hooking up! Oh that would be a delight wouldn't it?!

3-3.5 stars for all three novellas.

 photo imagejpg1_zps9fce8922.jpg

Xander Pierce can't sleep. His dreams haunt him. In order for him to succumb to slumber, he needs to wear himself out. To get his release he beds a lot of women. As an actor turned producer, the women are the least of his shortcomings.

After returning to his hometown, his latest fuck-buddy thinks it's time for him to seek professional help, and gives him a card for a therapist. Desperate for some help, he shows at the office, not expecting to meet Dr Avery Shaw, an attractive female psychiatrist.

The chemistry is instant, and soon they will find they have more in common than just lust.

This was okay for me, and I liked it. I was very intrigued by the blurb, and had to see what Xander's story entailed. I guess you have to go into serial novellas for what they are worth. A quick story with hot sex. You're not going to get an epic read that will give you a book hangover, and that sometimes makes it hard to rate.

The three parts of the story were pretty good. Each ended with a cliffhanger which made you need to know what happened next. The characters find themselves in quite a clusterfuck of secrets and lies, which was quite interesting. I know I had to see where everything went.

Overall, if you are looking for a short, hot, yet entertaining read, I would recommend this.

At only 91 pages it was a very quick read but a very hot and steamy one. This book concludes the trilogy of Xander and Avery. We have now found out about all of the secrets and lies that have been told. I love how this book showed that a solid relationship takes give and take. Thank goodness most relationships don't have to take on so much drama early on!

I loved Xander and Avery! I hope there are more books in this series in the future.

Lie To Me

This story was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review.

It is the third and final segment of the Sexual Misconduct Series. What a ride these stories have been. I think that we, the reader have experienced all sorts of different emotions as we made this literary journey. There was certainly arousal as the sex scenes between them were off the chart hot and filled with so very much love on both sides. There was heartbreak and sorrow as we learned about the history concerning the crash that has affected both characters and unknowingly ties them irrevocably together in ways that no one saw coming. There is anger towards him for sleeping with so many different women in the past and trying to hide his demons that way. We feel pride towards Avery as she has made such a good life for herself after the tragedy of her parents death at a young age. Mostly we feel hope and love that these two are meant to be together.

It is possible now that these two will have their happy every after, BUT of course Avery does not know their connection yet and all hell breaks loose when she finds out and of course it is not Xander that tells her and this makes it worse. Our only hope is that she is strong enough to forgive him and move on. This is what she has been telling him before she realized what crash he was referring too, that he was young and he needs to put his guilt aside and get on with his life. Just not sure if that will include her being a part of it.

I think that this series was one of the best that I have read. I was eager to read each and every one of them. I really appreciated that the author did not keep us waiting too long for the next installment. I like to be able to remember the base of the story while reading the next parts. The characters were very well fleshed out and we were really able to get to know both Xander and Avery and even the roommate Ellie and her involvement in the saga.

**SAME REVIEW FOR ALL BOOKS IN SERIES**

Sexy actor and shrink have chemistry

I actually liked this mini series. Sexy scenes and good underlying secrets that expose themselves in last installment. Would have liked to see different cover model, this one didn't live up to my vision of Xan. Also would love to see more after issues were resolved in ending.

I struggled as to what I should rate this, and I'm comfortable saying I'd give this solid three stars (even 3.5) for I "liked it." I did enjoy the overall trilogy and am glad I read all three books back to back. I received a complimentary copy of the first book, Insomnia, through NetGalley from the publisher/author for an honest review. I was relieved the next two books were already published so I could get the full story rather than in delayed pieces. I'm not absolutely sure I would have continued after the first book, but am glad I hung in there.

I had a hard time connecting with Avery and Xander at the beginning. I'm not opposed to insta-love stories, but I was super surprised to realize three months went by and felt I missed their real emotional depth/connection beyond their physical relationship. Sometimes it felt like that was all there was between them. BUT there are no complaints about their chemistry. They author did a great job crafting a connection between the two that left me with no doubt about their uncontrolled passion for each other.

Once we learned more about Xander, his abrasive and in your face behavior lessened. Of the two main characters, I really liked him the most and felt like we get a full picture of him emotionally. Avery continued to be a struggle and I felt like there was a depth of emotion missing about her past in the foster homes and her painful struggles after her parent's death. Panic attacks were mentioned briefly once, but I wanted more to understand how she dealt with the life she was handed. We knew how her past shaped her to be the adult she became, but it felt like several times we were on the emotional cusp of getting down what makes her tick.

Hands down I know what bothered me the most was Ian and his intrusion into Avery's life to get at his brother. And maybe this is why I struggled with Avery. Ian's jealousy and spitefulness for Xander climaxes in the third book and I kept shaking my head wondering how Avery could let him manipulate her by being her "friend." Why did she hug him or let him comfort her?? We saw these moments through Xander's point of view, and wonder if we'd had hers it would make more sense as to why. I never felt Ian's sincerity even to the end.

There are multiple things I liked about these books. The writing was very well done. This was my first book/series by the author and it won't be my last. Xander's character really developed over the books and there's no doubt the chemistry between him and Avery was explosive. We had short glimpses into the side characters; enough that made me want to learn more about Ellie, Marcus, and yes - even Ian because I want him to redeem himself. I hope we get more about each of those characters, and in the process see Xander and Avery's relationship progress.

Lie to Me is the final volume of Bethany Bazile’s Sexual Misconduct serial. Xander’s past infiltrates his present, and it threatens to destroy not only Xander but Avery as well. It has taken a long time for Avery to open up her heart again since her parents’ death, and now the man she gave it to has done nothing but lie to her since the beginning. Avery’s intense feelings for Xander may not be enough for her to see past his deception, which leaves Xander fighting for a love he desperately needs to make him whole again. What will win out in Avery’s battle between her head and her heart? Does Xander deserve a happy ending despite all of the heartache he has caused? Both of these questions and more are answered in this turmoil riddled ending.

Because this is a serial, it is fast paced, causing many situations and events to occur at warp speed. Even though everything occurred quickly, it seems to align with the need that Avery and Xander feel for each other and how much their feelings consume them. The only part that I questioned in terms of the time idea was Avery’s forgiveness. There was a lot for her to wrap her mind around and deal with, and I just would have liked to have understood a bit better how she ultimately lets it go, but in looking at the love and passion that she feels for Xander, perhaps, it never really was a matter of if but only when.

Overall, I really enjoyed Avery and Xander’s story. It’s passionate, emotional, and a mind field of secrets exposed and dealt with. Getting both Avery and Xander’s perspectives throughout the serial makes it easier to understand what both are feeling and thinking from their first meeting to each and every sexual encounter and therapy session, which adds to the intrigue of the story itself. If readers are in the mood for a quick read full of steamy scenes, tormented minds, and an array of messed up situations that eventually get sorted, this is the serial to choose.

4 Stars!

The conclusion to the Sexual Misconduct series, which began with Insomnia and then Underneath It All. I just realized that there is some significance in that Vol. 2 cover photo is in color and only pictures Xander. Gorgeous man, btw. Vol. 3's cover doesn't look like the same guy or maybe its the scruff.

The secrets and lies all got unraveled and both Xander and Avery deal with it and work through it.

There are some hot sex scenes in the end that feature some spanking and breath-play.

I think the conclusion could have been edgier, it was actually kind of tame after the sort of cliffy endings of both Vol 1 and 2.

Still, a very good mini-series about forbidden love between an addict/actor/producer/celebrity and his psychotherapist. They find they have much more in common than their sexual attraction to each other.

OMG, where will this book take us, to a happy ever after or a life of loss and regret, these are some of the thoughts that were going through my head when I began to read the final installment in the Sexual Misconduct Series.
I couldn’t wait to see what Xander would do with the information that he now held and what is in store for his relationship with Avery. In this book not only is Avery having meetings with Xander at her office, she is now also having sessions with Ian. After Ian breaks news to Avery that wasn’t his place to, Avery’s world begins to fall apart. Then on top of that Avery finds about the connection between and Ellie and Xander. She feels like she is losing every one and has no one too trust.
In this series, each book just kept getting better. I LOVED this one even more. The raw emotion, devastation, love and loss that occur throughout this book made for an exceptional read. Thank you Bethany for writing an amazing series and I can’t wait to see what you will be writing for us next….

This was another quick read, but it was so good. My favorite book within the 3 books. It left off right were book 2 ended. I am sad that the series ended and again I wish this book was longer. This one had so much emotions going on between Xander and Avery. Avery found out so much stuff about Xander in this book, and it almost destroys her. My heart broke for her. I just wanted to reach in the book and hug her. So much happed at once for her and she had to take it all in. Xander and Avery’s relationship was tested, did she forgive Xander for the lies and secrets? Well you will have to read this incredible and series. It is definitely a must read series.
I love this author, what she does with this series is so good. All three books were interesting and intriguing. The storyline was original and fresh. I love the characters and also the secondary characters Ellie and Matt. Great Job and I will be reading more for this author.

"You want to know how you can pay? You own it. Admit your mistakes. Confess your secrets. Own up to the ruin you caused. Stop being a coward and hiding in the dark! Be the fucking man I thought I fell in love with. Own. It."

Everything comes to a head in this final book. All of the lies were a ticking time bomb ready to explode. Xander, his mom, Ellie...everyone Avery cares about has been lying to her and it's all just too much.

It's clear that Xander is sorry. His guilt has eaten away at him over the years and now knowing how Avery is connected to that guilt is just too much for him as well.

How in the world can they get past this?

I don't think I ever could but Bazile wrote their story in such a way that how they came back together was believable. I admire Avery's strength and her ability to forgive. I thought Lie to Me was a solid conclusion to the series, to the shocking revelations made in the first two books.

Lie to Me was difficult for me to read. My heart went out to Xander spirals the drain of an impossible situation. My compassion for Avery quickly becomes tainted by her poor professional decisions, unbelievable affiliations and her response to the situations that unfold. I hate Ian.

This book was tragic and I was shocked that Xander kept himself as together as he did. I probably would have become catatonic if I had learned about the roll I played In Avery's past.

It is difficult to really comment on the book without spoiling the story in one manner or another so I will just say one thing. I felt that Avery and Ian were cruel and I couldn't forgive either of them regardless of how things progressed. This made me sour grapes and reduced a 5 star book to 4 stars. I wish it had played out differently.

As for the series. It is amazing and I loved it. I am looking forward to reading more from this author!

I fell in love with Xander from the beginning and felt so sorry for him. Yes, he caused something horrible to happen, but he lived with it and suffered nightmares for over twelve years. His brother is a jerk!! Then Avery..She was fine giving advice and being understanding when it didn't involve her, but when it was personal, she shut down and ran. In her defense, it was a serious and valid reason to be angry, but she handled it wrong. Even though her reaction was probably a truthful one under the circumstances. She wasn't open enough to communicate and work through it. The friendship she developed with Ian, after his past with Xander was like throwing gasoline on a fire and made me a little resentful towards her.

But in the end, Avery came through. Love is a strong emotion and some things are worth fighting for. Xander was truly a great guy and deserved to finally have happiness.

I read this book for The Book Enthusiast.

What an amazing story to end this series. I felt like I was on a roller coaster ride. I never knew when the next up or down was going to come. Every little secret that you wanted to know about since the first book was now reveled in this book. Some of them even may have been a little shocking.

Xander and Avery were even sexier and their love for one another was even hotter. I found this story to be a mixed bag of emotions. It was passionate, emotional; there was denial, lust, love and anger. But in the end it all came together.

In my opinion this is a must read series. I don’t think you will be disappointed. If you like to read something that will keep you guessing then this is it. Happy reading!

4 Stars! I really enjoyed this series. All secrets are revealed and questions are answered. Both Avery and Xander have their challenges with their releationship and Avery has a huge decission to make. Will she forgive Xander or are the secrets & lies too much to overcome? If you like a emotional, possesive, dirty talking, sexy alpha male, a heroine that it successful, strong and beautiful, lot's of steamy sex scenes and a story that is filled with lust, self loathing, forgiveness and redemption... this is a great story for you.

Great conclusion to this series. Although short reads I really enjoyed these books.

This continues where book two finishes. What happens when all Xanders secrets are out? Will Avery stay with him? These were questions I had since I finished book two. They were answered brilliantly in this story. I loved these characters and would love to read more about them. The chemistry between these two is hot. The sex scenes are sizzling hot.

Loved these books and will be recommending them.
