Alexandra Thornton has proven she can deliver for her clients in and out of the courtroom, but becoming senior managing partner of the prestigious firm requires more than just being a good lawyer.
To rise above her brothers and seize the ultimate prize, she is going to prove she can land the biggest clients, especially ones who have old-fashioned ideas of what-- and who-- it means to be a lawyer.
So when one of the big international accounting firms seeks a new outside counsel, Alexandra is going to pull out all the stops to prove she belongs in a man’s world. Contending with the rival firms will be hard enough, but can she survive her brothers’ attempts to undermine and sabotage her?
The author is listed as a male, however I think that this is a pseudonym because this is the journalistic version of a “chick flick”—going into excruciating detail of sartorial dress for dinners etc—the totally unrealistic idea of someone who had never held a golf club could take 7 or 8 lessons and then went out and impressed everyone with their driving ability; meeting a person who can generate a 600,000. fee at a game of course and signing them immediately, I could go on and on but you get the idea—unrealistic!!!!!!!!
Dave Darren sucks the reader in from the first page. Hold on tight and enjoy the ride. This second novel about the Thorntons is another chance to revisit the world of the legal profession in a side rarely seen by outsiders. I can't wait to start book 3. No spoilers here. Read the series. Happy reading.
Alex is a lawyer who works hard for the family law firm, along with her remaining 3 brothers. Archie, Arron and Alister. The son who was supposed to take the firm over, can no longer. It is completion between 4 sibling that is left. Who wins is still up in the air but this second book gives more insight to who might get the prize. Very good read
What well rounded characters, the Thorntons are quite a family with all the drama you can relate to, along with a side of twists that keep you turning the pages.
Finished this book in two settings! Would have been one but had to get some sleep. Insight into personal traits and real conversations made for the flowing story.
