In Vicki Voland and the Goblins, Ghosts & Ghouls, young Vicki must set out on an unexpected journey to a world full of magic and odd creatures. In order to reverse a curse placed upon her family, Vicki will have to accept her inheritance as the Housekeeper- a role that she must perform in the Athenaeum, a retirement home full of elderly monsters. Being an ordinary girl from a small town it's quite the shocker to find out that she has a witch for an aunt. Indeed, Vicki will find herself pitted against her gigantic Aunt Zaldehyde as she struggles to perform her new duties.



The Athenaeum will send test after test to Vicki Voland, and her new monstrous coworkers might not have the highest confidence in her abilities if she keeps failing. It would be one thing if she were only failing because of her lack of magical knowledge or ability to reach the top shelf, but something quite dire is lurking within that may be worse than anything that she could ever want to face. To lift the curse upon her family will take everything that Vicki can summon, it's a lucky thing that she may have good (if not a little odd) friends to help her along the way.

I thought this book was enjoyable and interesting. The world was intriguing, and I enjoyed discovering more about it. The friendships were heartwarming, and I loved Frank's character. Altogether, I enjoyed the story and felt that the ending was satisfying.
