Seventeen-year-old Parker Everett expects to receive letters from college admission offices, not from his dead ex-girlfriend.
When Parker learns of Hadley’s accidental death, his plans of attending college, playing lacrosse, and gliding through the rest of senior year, are frustrated by the grief and confusion he feels. And when Hadley’s parents find a box of letters she’d written to him while she was still alive, Parker is terrified to read them, knowing the way he ended things with her.
Shoved forward by the mantra that Hadley's story deserves to be read, Parker delves into the letters. When he lets Hadley's best friend, Kenzie, see them, things get even more complicated, threatening his relationship with his current girlfriend and the life he thought he wanted to live.
As he starts to see things from Hadley’s point of view, he becomes increasingly unsure of whether the letters will be the remedy he needs or lead to his ultimate undoing.
Hi! This is my book :) I am so excited that you are reading or considering reading it. I spent a good part of my life writing this, and I can't believe it's out in the world now! I hope you'll take a chance on it and that you'll enjoy it 💕 I believe it's perfect for people who are lonely, are grieving, feel misunderstood, need a redemption arc, struggle with mental health, feel lost, or just like to read a book that will make them laugh on one page and cry on another. Thank you so much, and I hope you have a wonderful day!
What a wonderful and emotional book. Not my normal genre but a great read. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a book they could feel emotionally connected to.
This book was touching, funny, and took me on a journey. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants a laugh, who wants to feel something, or wants to process grief. The author does such a great job capturing the voice of a teenage boy. And not to mention, she’s kind of hot 👀
Letters from Hadley is an emotional and heartfelt read that really captures the ups and downs of grief, love, healing, and self discovery. Parker’s journey, while raw and difficult at times, is so beautiful & feels so realistic as he navigates the impacts that Hadley’s letters have on him, his relationships, and his life. It also had me reflecting on the way that people come and go and was a great reminder that every connection we make, no matter how brief, can leave a lasting mark on someone’s life. If you’re looking for a book that will stay with you well after you finish reading, this one is for you!
I really enjoyed the concept of this book and getting to know Hadley through her letters to Parker. It was an emotional book, but in a good way. I really feel that the author did a good job at describing depression and how lonely and isolated people can feel even when they are surrounded by others. It made me want to reach out and let everyone know how much they are loved, valued and needed.
I have been wanting to read this story for YEARS, I can’t believe I’m finally holding it in book form! And it did not disappoint! This book was so beautifully written. It made me laugh, cry, and helped me deal with my own grief. The characters felt so raw and real and I could easily relate to them. As someone who struggles with mental health, I really appreciated how it was depicted in this book, it put words to feelings I always struggled to fully articulate. I loved this book and will recommend it to anyone wanting catharsis for their own grief or to better understand someone else’s!
Wow! About halfway through the book ALL the stuff started going down and I COULD NOT put this book down. 100% recommend for YA readers and adults who love YA books. Such a good read ✨
This was a tough read. As in the kind of tough read where you can’t put the book down because you’re so invested in it. Ever since hearing the premise, I was hooked. The characters are loveable and intriguing, making me both laugh and cry. I LOVED this book. Like, seriously loved it. I won’t give away much, but be ready to cheer, cry, and be surprised at the story as it progresses. The character moments are expertly crafted, and honestly feel really natural and real. The situation makes you really think introspectively, and that’s something about it that I loved.
The author does a fantastic job of explaining the the thought patterns and inner workings of a teenager with depression’s brain. As you read you come to understand and relate to Harley’s struggle to understand her depression. From Parker’s end, you frustratingly pick through his brain until he finally reaches the point of realization that he needs to reach— a perfect description of what a teenage boy brain is like when trying to process heavy events.
Great book, will help you feel seen, and help you understand the teens in your life. Excited to see more from this emerging author.
An amazing book. Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down and would read for hours at a time. The way Cassidy writes made me nostalgic for high school and brought up a lot of memories, both good and not the best, but so life goes. Her descriptions made everything so easy to picture in my head and perfectly capture what it feels like to be a teenage boy. Cassidy, your next book can't come soon enough!
Great coming of age story. Every chapter kept me guessing and trying to figure out where the story was going. Cassidy has a great talent for immersing the reader into the narrative.
