this book saw me battle a 4 hour journey on my own. I cried, I sweat…and this book supported me.
in all seriousness, i read and finished this book when I didn’t have the best day HAHA - but it was a pretty easy read all things considered! the behind the scenes things were really interesting- the amount of facts and numbers did fry my head though
An entertaining read that blends gritty underworld detail with fast-paced storytelling. I Am a Mob Boss is written in a punchy, conversational tone that keeps the pages turning. The author paints a vivid picture of gangland London, international crime, and the inner workings of a mysterious “Firm” operating in the shadows.
I enjoyed the book for what it is—a mix of criminal folklore, wild anecdotes, and bold claims. Some parts felt genuinely plausible, especially the descriptions of drug routes, money laundering tactics, and organised gang structure. There’s a real sense of atmosphere throughout.
That said, the book occasionally stretches credibility. Several major events are recounted with zero real-world trace, which left me questioning how much was fact versus fiction. The anonymity of the author adds mystery but also raises doubts.
Worth a read if you enjoy true crime and gangster tales, but best approached with a pinch of salt.
I am a fiend for correct grammar, and spelling mistakes/grammatical errors in books really do my nut in. There were a handful in this book, however this did not seem to irk me because it somehow added to the authenticity and personality of the book.
Are some of the stories jazzed up for entertainment? Likely. Do I believe everything he says happened? Maybe. However the accounts are so vivid, raw and emotional I believe them and I loved them.
The world is a scary place, especially when reading a book like this and knowing you live/have lived just round the corner is scary, but overall I like this man, I respect this man, and I hope his life is beautiful.
Great insight to organised crime and what actually gets hidden from the public’s view! Recommended read as it tails back to the 1970s when there was a lot of bent coppers who was assisting the organised crime groups and relating to the current organised crime which effects Britain now, with a lot of the British crime groups being pushed out of the picture, resulting in trafficking, brothels or prostitution and a shed load of drugs! I’m entrigued to who mick is but I understand that the author wants to stay anonymous.. maybe one day this will be released…
I loved everything about this. If you want insight into the real world of a UK organised crime gang, this is the book. I just wish I knew who Mick was!
