Demonic Descension is a dark why-choose, demon shifter paranormal romance
Mindy Paige was born and raised in the jungles of Florida. She decided to pursue her lifelong dream of being an author after a grueling bachelor’s degree in botany. From contemporary to dark romance, she loves writing spicy, fast-paced stories, and has a goal to write the most unhinged MMC’s you can’t help but love.
If not writing or reading, Mindy can usually be found playing with her dogs, tending to her plants, watching trashy reality TV with her boyfriend, or fighting off alligators.
Absolutely PERFECT! This duet will live rent free in my mind foreverrrr. 6 D3mons and their most adorable familiars. Our FMC is gorgeous and strong. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend!
“I love seeing those claws of yours, kitten. That darling little fire in your eyes when you lose control, when you allow your hatred to consume you…”
Hearts are strange things. If it beats and screams and aches, is it love? Or is it a disease? Affection or affliction?
“I wish to always be by your side. If I could crawl into your skin, I would.”
This is the second book in The Sundering Duet and you'll have seen my recent review of the first book in this duet, Demonic Division, back in March.
Thank goodness we didn't have to wait too long, because as much as I loved the first book, as expected, book one left us on a bit of a cliffhanger and I'm pleased to say that we dive straight back into the storyline from the start of this book.
Plunged back into the thick of the action, we follow Dagny as she tries to navigate her new position and plan her escape.
Ok, I'm stopping, because I keep writing things then deleting as I am definitely not one to give away any spoilers - for either this or book 1!!
The plot and concept work so well and once again we see the characters facing their troubles head on and fighting for their survival throughout.
Being a why choose novel, obviously we also see our mates fighting to save Dagny - even fighting between themselves at times.
This fast-paced, high drama is balanced out with the select spicy interludes, which add new layers to the brilliant storyline.
The writing style sucked me straight back in and had me racing through the pages quick time.
I loved this series and really didn't want to put it down until I'd finished!
Can't wait to see much more from this author soon....
The end of this unique Romantasy Duet is upon us, with Dagny facing their epic escape at the start, to Dagny learning her powers potential, to some pretty insane battles. There's also gutwrenching heartbreak mixed in there so bring out your tissues if you're a crier 😆 But I am happy to report Dagny and all her men get their spicy happily Ever After 😍
If you haven't yet read any of Mindy's work..well you need to asap. She is incredibly talented, and this duet is just proof of that the ideology alone is amazing 🖤
Unfortunately this was a miss for me. After eating up the first book I had a lot of hope for this but unfortunately it fell completely flat.
It felt like there was no actual solid development in the group, to most of the MMC’s it came across as she was a warm hole to use but it felt like there was no separating the males with their own differing personalities.
The constant back and forth from 1st person to 3rd in the SAME chapter really took me out of the book. It was rushed and honestly felt like there were just too many plot holes.
Mindy is usually an author whose books I enjoy but this one fell flat unfortunately.
Also : YOU NEED LUBE AND PREP IF YOU ARE GOING TO DO ANAL! YOU CANNOT JUST SHOVE IT IN, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE “demon” SIZED.
Unfortunately had to DNF the book after devouring the first one in two days. I was so excited to continue, but the pacing was off, considering the gratuitous x-rated scenes in the first book. I made it almost halfway through the second book before we got into the thick of spice, but by then, there was no pleasure in reaching it. No real buildup for the intimacy. Repetitive language. And plot that suddenly became the forefront of the writing after being briefly introduced in the first story. Not to mention the lack of deep character writing (unfortunate in a reverse harem) and the main character reaching near Mary-sue status… yea.. Pretty bummed.
I was dying to read book 2 after how the first one ended and wow… it was a page turner from beginning to end.
I laughed and cried my way through this book but it was so worth it. The ending was perfect.
The spicy scenes were spicing, Jesus they were hot 🥵 where can I find 6 demons to take me like that.
This duet was a super fun read filled with demons, awakened powers, fated mates and a whole lot of why choose because truly why when you can have all 6 😏
I went into this book with high hopes after devouring the first one but it just wasn’t it for me. The pacing was off and kind of dragged in the middle. It felt like this book should have just been part of the first one. Also, the first book did a great job of differentiating the characters, but they all blended together in this one. Like the personalities that each character had was set to the side in favor of the romance, so it just seemed like they were all the same person.
Thank you Mindy Paige for the ARC. These are my own thoughts.
*using the same review for both books in the duet so I don’t spoil anything for anybody*
With a unique and intricate plot that didn’t leave me feeling like I needed a doctorate degree to keep up with, I was hooked from page 1 of Demonic Division. I absolutely adored Dagney, being introduced to her men, and starting to learn the magic system. The end of that story left us on a cliffhanger that led seamlessly into part 2, Demonic Descension.
I thought this duet was so well-balanced. There are fantastic spice scenes that furthered dagney’s relationships with the men but also make you feel like you’ll burst into your own wildfire. 😉 But there’s also an amazing emotional depth and level of self discovery, along with a unique magic system.
I was worried I might feel confused with so many men in this why choose, and I don’t know how she did it, but Mindy Paige managed to give each male a different voice and personality entirely so I wasn’t confused about who was who or what they were doing. I also loved the competitive nature amongst the men and the hilarious banter.
If you haven’t read a Mindy Paige book yet, you’re absolutely missing out! I always have the best time reading her books and they stick with me long after I’ve put them down.
Thank you to Mindy Paige and her PA Nikki for the opportunity to arc read this duet!
I'm not even sure where to start, but this was not it. The entire book felt rushed, flat, and undeveloped. Every single character existed in the box the author had put them in, and did not grow out of it. Cyprien was a copy + paste of his dialogue and actions from the last novel in every scene he was in. He actually left me feeling ill he was so child-like. Whining constantly, grasping her legs to whimper that she needed to give him attention, hopping around her exuberantly and squealing with joy, and then shoving his dick in her and saying he wanted to breed her. It made me gag when he'd go from child-like behaviour to sexual.
Like Cyprien, Lir was an afterthought, he existed for no reason except to fulfill his spot in the orgies and as a section of Abaddon. Same with Roarke. It was like the book really only held Dagny, Malice and SOME of Kaebl as characters that existed outside of a bed. This was primarily Dagny and Malice's story though. Which leaves me to wonder why the author had 7 main leads at all if she was only going to develop a few of them. Even newly discovered Fenryr's primary existence was... knotting? anal? I genuinely don't know what his character did to advance anything within this story. Also, the knot. Why out of every single demon, is the one with the dog familiar magically also equipped with a knot? It felt like pandering to as many kinks as possible without actually creating any character development, and was just a checklist on something potentially marketable. He didn't even use the knot correctly as he'd just inflate it and then slide it right back out - which defeats the purpose of having one. All 7 of them didn't have anything that held them together other than a bond that literally forced them to want each other. It was used against Dagny constantly to the point she existed as warm holes and a reason for the other leads to care about something. No true development came from it. They kept saying she was so strong and capable, and yet she was only utilized as a plot device and a warm body.
From there the actual storyline was nonsensical. The entire first half of the book was dragged out for no discernable reason. Contrasting leads were left alive when they could have been killed off easily, just to circle back again to no ones surprise. They also all acted as if the massive betrayal and being chained up, kept apart and tortured had almost no bearing on any of them. There was a tiny grudge against Malice for like a week? Then it's like nothing that happened in the book actually affected the characters. Any attempt to develop tension didn't happen, and the only times any relationship development was presented was in the form of an orgy, which doesn't really supplement chemistry or growth. Also those orgies always started off with dry forced anal - the poor girl didn't even get spit to lubricate, and had me cringing my way through the scenes. The plot holes in general were so incredibly massive that the entire novel felt unplanned and then thrown together at the last instant to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible. If anything, it was formulaic. Comically enough, I called the sundering being corrected and redone, then the novel ending in an orgy starting with dry anal at like the 60% mark and voila, I was correct.
This one was a massive miss for me, and needed way more character and plot development - or way less characters - to be enjoyable.

If you’re looking for a story that sticks the landing, 𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 is it. This final installment in The Sundering Duet is bold, emotional, and totally badass—and I loved every second of it.
Dagny is an unstoppable force in this book. She’s not just surviving—she’s owning every challenge thrown at her. Betrayal? Check. Mating bonds that won’t quit? Check. Captivity? Double check. And yet, she never backs down. Her journey is messy and painful, but she rises stronger every time.
And let’s not forget the guys—Kaebl, Lir, Roark, Cyprien, Fenryr, and Malice. These six are all-in when it comes to Dagny, even when they’re fighting their own battles (or each other). Whether they’re restrained (sometimes literally) or forced to scheme in the shadows to fight back against Slaine, the false demon king, their single minded devotion never falters. And 𝘔𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘦? His redemption arc was everything I hoped for—emotional, powerful, and honestly, kind of beautiful.
There’s also way more 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 in this book than I was expecting. Sure, the action is intense, the stakes are sky-high, and the spice is 𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴—but beneath all of that, there’s a real emotional core. The connection between Dagny and her mates isn’t just physical—it’s drenched with love, loyalty, and shared trauma, and it hits 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽.
The ending wrapped up everything in such a satisfying way. It felt like the characters got exactly what they deserved after everything they went through. This book had me cheering, tearing up, and refusing to put it down. Demonic Descension was the perfect conclusion—emotional, explosive, and utterly unforgettable.⠀
Special thanks to the author and The Author Agency for the gifted copy 🖤
📚📚📚 Okay this one had me in an absolute chokehold!! I did absolutely read it in one sitting! I felt every damn emotion out there while reading this book and the tears totally flowed! I even held my breath at a few different points. Dagny is 10/10 such a force and the way she just pushes through it all and still just rises to it was everything. All of our MMCs omg they are just everything and the way they all are for Dagny is top tier. I don’t think I could pick a favorite but i definitely have to say Malice stole my heart the most towards the end. The loyalty and love I really enjoyed. Some scenes get so intense and the spice is hot. Without giving too much away I highly recommend this duet!
📚📚📚 If you like to read: - Why choose - Demon shifters - Fated mates - Multiple POV - Hate to love - Touch her and you 💀 - Awakened powers - Dark setting - Parallel Worlds - Morally grey MMCs - Mythical Creatures … You should definitely check this out

Thank you so much for sending me a copy for an honest review in my own words. #giftedcopy
✨what’s a book with intense action you’ve read? Or what are some fun weekend plans you have?
This second book left me absolutely breathless! Just finished the last page, and I can't stop thinking about these incredible characters that have become so real to me over this duet. Saying goodbye to these demons feels like parting with dear friends - that's how masterfully Paige has crafted these characters! 🖤
Let's talk about Dagny - wow! Her character arc from discovering her powers to becoming an absolute force of nature had me completely invested. The way she faces her fears, confronts betrayal, and steps into her power is simply *chef's kiss* perfect. And those scenes in Slaine's dungeons? INTENSE! 🔥
What truly sets this book apart:
- ✨ The emotional depth between Dagny and her mates - 🌟 The complex dynamics between morally grey characters - 💫 The masterful way betrayal and redemption are woven together - ⚡️ Some seriously epic power-awakening scenes - 🖤 Demons who will steal your heart (literally and figuratively!)
This book had me glued to my Kindle until 3 AM (no regrets!). The way Paige brings everything together - the parallel worlds, the fated mates bonds, the looming threats - it's storytelling at its finest. And that ending? PERFECTION! 👑
If this series isn't on your TBR yet, you're seriously missing out! Trust me, you need these demons in your life! 😈
𝓢𝓹𝓲𝓬𝓮 - Breeding K!nk - Group scenes as well as one on one - I feel like it was actually a bit less spicy than the first book, but I think that’s because there was a lot more plot. - There is still multiple spicy scenes, and even a “oh the book is over but here’s another spice moment!”
𝓠𝓾𝓲𝓬𝓴 𝓢𝓾𝓶𝓶𝓪𝓻𝔂 - Dagny and her mates are held captive and must find a way to free themselves and grow strong enough to defeat Slaine once and for all.
𝓣𝓱𝓸𝓾𝓰𝓱𝓽𝓼 My main thought is just… authors… please… 🍑 play is an amazing addition, especially because I kind of expect it in why choose, but man LUNRICANT! I can get over the lack of preparation if I squint but no prep AND no lubricant? Please I beg of you, that is one of my BIGGEST pet peeves and completely takes me out of the book. It unfortunately ruined pretty much every spicy scene for me.
I had some wild theories while reading this book, my Romantasy heart coming into play here, and man some of my theories had me giggling at the chaos of them and the fact that one of them was BASICALLY true, if I squinted.
Ending was 10/10, exactly what I would have hoped for.
I’ve been so excited to read the conclusion to this story. Dagny and her gang of lovable demons have just captured my heart. Dagny is such a badass and every single one of these men will say something that will make you weak in the knees. They worship her (as they should) and their emotion just drips off the page. The vibes in Demonic Descension are immaculate. Mindy will make you laugh out loud right before she rips your heart out in the next paragraph. She doesn’t just make you sad she makes you a puddle when she describes the emotions these characters are going through. These books never take themselves too seriously and that is such a hard line to walk but Mindy does it with ease. Besties, Demonic Descension is SPICY. These scenes will make you blush. Chapter 19… IYKYK!!! And don’t get me wrong, you know your girl loves her some why choose spice, but it’s the heart that keeps me involved. Spice without romance and devotion is not my jam. I fell even more in love with some characters and developed a new obsession for one that I knew was coming but still took me by surprise. If you can’t tell, I had so much fun with this book and Mindy will be an auto buy/auto read author for me from now on.
What an end to the duet that was! I immediately fell in love with this duet from the second I started the first book and to then have the cliffhanger we get left on in the first book was heartbreaking. But in this book, I felt stressed but it was the perfect ending for our demons and Dagny.
You need to read the first book as it does get a bit confusing which means it took me a while to wrap my head around everything and the universe that the book happens in, but it is a world setting you will love.
Our men, oh our 6 demon men could not have been any more perfect in my eyes, they were all uniquely different but you could not help to love them all, Malice, Fenryr, Kaebl, Cyprien, Roark, Lir. Trust me the scenes are hot with these 6 demon daddies and Dagny, could not have been any more perfect!!
So much happens in the short space of the book and I surprised myself with how quickly I read it, it was addictive as hell and I could not have wanted anything to be changed. I am not sure how to put how I felt about this book and duet as a whole, it was utterly perfect and something everyone should read and experience and I can't wait to read more of Mindy's books.
This book was such a mixture of emotions. I definitely did not expect the way this book turned out. I was shocked, ecstatic, happy, sad and angry and confused all at the same time. I LOVE THIS BOOK.
The characters were just so well-written and they have depth in their own characters. The character developments are CRAZY as hell.
Malice was portrayed in the first book as a traitor and in this book, we learn why. I am irrevocably in love with him. And Kaebl too, he is the definition of 'i love you too much, it hurts not to be by your side at all times'. And Dagny, OH MY GOSH, her true self was so COOOLLL. She's strong and resilient and I love that about her. Near the ending when the SHOCKING thing happened, i cried. I literally cried for hours because i know how that pain feels like. But we get a happy ending for all of them- Dagny, Kaebl, Malice, Cyprien, Roark, Lir, Fenryr.
I love the Sundering Duet and it has a special place in my heart. I just can't believe their story has ended. But I'm sure they will remain alive and I can't wait to meet them in my dreams, my nightmares and even my daydreams.
I was doing alright. I was doing… alright. Then we get to about the last 40% of the book and I was not alright. It just kept getting worse and worse. So excuse me while I had to take some breathers and question why I was ok with Mindy Paige screwing with my emotions. Sheesh, that was a bit of an emotional roller coaster! Good thing I like roller coasters!
Author Mindy Paige has given us the second book in our Demonic Duet and you can officially read it now! I was so hooked on the first book and was not disappointed with the second. It had my attention from the start. To which is huge for me as its hard for me to be instantly hooked. I usually need a solid thaw and then am head over heels for a book. No, these two books had me from the first word. I loved watching how everything played out in the end but I will say my heart was sad for a solid 10% of the book. The emotions were so high!!!
While we wait for more delicious Mindy Paige books to arrive, I am going to head over to some of her audiobooks and start with “The Devil’s Vice.”
Following on from where the first book left off, Demonic Descension finds the betrayed Dagny back where she started - in a deep, dark dungeon only this time she had no idea of what fates had befallen her demons, well that’s what you get for talking to strange men you meet when in solitary confinement, she should’ve known you couldn’t trust someone called Malice
In a story told from multiple points of view, Dagny’s development across this book as she grows in strength, coming into her powers as the fate of the Far Place rested on her shoulders was well written. Perhaps if there had been one or two or possibly even three less demons as at times it did feel that things descended into a sexfest but there was no doubting the high spice levels.
This romantasy duet wasn’t my usual kind of read and while it still wouldn’t be my first choice I would be interested in reading more in this genre.
Well, what an epic tale of bloodshed, with a touch of insanity, love, forgiveness and winning the day.
I chewed through this; I desperately wanted to know if Malice was truly ss irredeemable or not if Kaebl would actually stop being completely irritating and realise all he wanted was in front of his face.
Cyprien was by far my favourite, though; his exuberant puppy-like energy was far too cute not to fall for.
Seeing Dagny coming into her own, fighting for herself and her mates at times, could lead to a bit of bawling; yeah, parts of this you will need the tissues for.
The breeding kink is definitely a strong driving force with all of Dagyn's mates, and I found that highly amusing.
This is definitely worth the read. It's well written thourghly enjoyable read with plenty of spice, and lots of growly protective demons.
For me, this was a 3.5 star read. I was interested in the story, but I was frustrated with several POV errors, times you could not tell who was talking, and how we never actually got any bonding/quality time outside of intimate scenes. There's so much happening, then she's training, but there's not much time for closeness and intimacy outside of spice. It was also incredibly frustrating how the bond made her lose all sense at times as well as to just freeze. Overall, Abbadon really got shafted. He saved her and defeated the enemy by sacrificing himself, which felt harsh. It would have been nice for him to have a chance with his mate somehow without her losing his pieces. Overall, I felt like Malice redeemed himself, as well as I like that in the end, she does get to live a happy life with her mates.
Book two of the Sundering Duet was everything that I wanted it to be and more. The cliffy that book one left me on was rough to say the least. I desperately needed answers.
This book picks up basically where book one leaves off. It is absolutely necessary to read Demonic Division before diving into this one.
So I can’t give any details without ruining the story which I refuse to do. But I can say this….
1. The story is absolutely amazing 2. This book cements that I love Mindy Paige’s writing style and need to read everything that she has written immediately. 3. The spice was on point 4. I lived for every twist and turn that was given to us 5. Finally the ending was absolute perfection
The second book of the Sundering Duet series came for you like you owed it something! It perfectly picks back up right where book one left off and give you answers you wanted but more twists that had my jaw on the floor and on the edge of my seat. The descriptions of emotions was such a tug and pull! You will shed tears and then laugh just as quickly and Mindy's writing style is so beautiful. This will sorry be a demon romance that will live in my heart, that is for sure! The spice levels again were magnificent. I wanted to much from all of these characters and my heart was in so many different directions. But when it was all said and done, her ending was perfection. I can not wait to read more form Mindy Paige after this series!
This book picks up after the cliffhanger of the first book. So, it is very important that you read book one. I guarantee you that you will want to read this duet.
Dagny really has grown since the first book. She is stronger. All the men are really good. Again, I can't pick a favorite. Each one's personality really shined. The new addition of Malice was refreshing. He added another layer to the group dynamics.
I do admit that it took me a little bit to really jump into this story. Despite the fact that I loved book one. That is because I was waiting for the spice to hit. Although, once it did, it hit me full in the face. Loved every steamy scene. This book ends on a high note with this duet.
This ending to the duet has truly blown me away. This book has it all action, love, spice and about demons and their worlds and just the storyline and characters are truly amazing to read about.
Mindy sucks you into a world of dark fantasy and gets you hooked on the story from the first to last page. Demonic Descension was the conclusion of Malice, Kaebl, Fenryr, Lir’s, Roark, and Cyprien, and their mate Dagny’s story how they fought to be together and fought the demon king. A lot of twist and turns in this book that centers on demons and their world and how Dagny found her powers and her demon mates helped her; What they sacrificed to keep her safe.
I can’t wait to read more by this amazing author and all the other characters she creates and their worlds.
Thank you to the author for gifting me this book. All opinions are my own.
The second half of the Sundering Duet is everything I needed for the second half. We continue our journey with Dagny and her demons. I absolutely loved every single moment of it. The character development is chef's kiss! There were so many tears, laughs, and heat. I went from heartbreak to laughing to spice and back to heartbreak. The way the author describes the emotions hit me to my core. I laid in bed sobbing but couldn't put it down. Each character holds a special place in my heart. I can't wait to read more Mindy Paige!
I received a copy of this book from The Author Agency and am voluntarily leaving this review. All opinions are my own.
I loved this book. I loved the dynamics between all the characters, and I loved seeing them all interact in this book. I also adored Dagny’s character growth within this book; she is such a badass, and I actually adore her. I also love all the guys with Dagny and getting to see all of them together finally. This book has some emotional damage, but it was fantastic. Mindy Paige broke my heart and put it back together so nicely. I also adore the familiars, they have my whole heart. I need more of them in my life, they are straight up perfect. I think this book wonderfully wrapped up the duet, and I am so sad that there is not more of this series to read.
3.5 ⭐️ Demonic Decension is the second book in the Sundering Duet and it continues where book 1 left off with a betrayed Dagny, back where she started, locked in the dungeons. As the story progressed, and she learns to navigate her new position, we see her growth as she come into her powers.
The story was drama filled and action packed with lots of scorching hott steam in between. We got the fight for survival, redemption and loss as the author put us through the wringer with this story. It was a good conclusion to the duet and I would recommend it to lovers of paranormal why choose romance.
What a satisfying conclusion to this duet! The last book left off with so many questions and chaos so rest assured you’ll get your HEA but not before Mindy puts you through the wringer! Mindy’s writing is so fun and fast paced. I finished this book so quick and speaking of quick finishes this book be spicy! All those group scenes had me fanning myself. Everyone gets a turn and boy do they. Overall I really enjoyed Mindy’s take on demons and magical beasts!

✨ Review ✨ *** Demonic Descension was so good!!! I knew this book was going to consume my every thought. I absolutely loved the guys and Dagny in book 1 but I was obsessed with them in book 2. The writing was amazing like always and the spice was hot!!! I loved Malice and Kaebl and Fenryr so much. All six of them were perfect and were obsessed with Dagny. The action and twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat. The ending was amazing and so good. I loved this group so much and know this will be one of my top favorites of this year. *** Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Spice: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Romance: 🩷🩷🩷🩷 ***
