If the title doesn't give it away then let me warn you that this book is not for the conservative or easily offended. My copy (UK hardback) features a cartoon tub of petroleum jelly on the cover and the tagline makes it clear it's not going to hold back.
Filled with crass British humour and frank writing about sex, specifically from the POV of millennial women, this tells the story of one in particular, who has enjoyed a healthy sex life for all of her twenties and who now, for some unknown reason, is having problems "down there".
Yes, there is graphic (and usually humourous) descriptions of sex but underneath is a surprisingly deep story about the traumas and unresolved issues that we hold onto for years and that can manifest themselves in the most unexpected ways and at the most unexpected times.
The protagonist is superbly flawed, self-aware (for the most part) and, whilst she is not always likeable she is relatable. The pacing was great, with fun inserts like her "Top Humps" ranking cards and message exchanges included which helped the story move along very quickly.
It certainly won't be for everyone, I'm not sure i've ever read the word fanny so much in my life! But it actually showcases some underdiscussed medical conditions faced by women, and this, along with the mental health topics it discusses added some gravity to an otherwise mad and messy (in a good way) read!
