Assassin in training, Petra Graves, travels to Innsbruck, Austria in search of a terrifying creature known as a Boneblight.
On locating and dispatching the beast, Petra discovers that the creature’s emergence into the Hallowed World isn’t a fluke, but rather has been orchestrated at the hands of a powerful rogue sorcerer.
This novella is a prequel to the first book in the Petra Graves Chronicles, Blood Hunter. The events take place several years before the main storyline.

3.5 stars An interesting start to a series. This is a prequel novella so there's a lot more world building that is needed but that's understandable. Petra seems to be an interesting character. I want to know more about what her magic entails. While the idea of a supernatural assassin isn't a new one, I am appreciating the direction this series is setting up. The Bone Blight was a neat enemy, the use of fetishes to capture its prey was done well. There are some typos so it could use another look through and update as a few of them require a second glance to determine what the word should be. I received this as a review copy and I am interested in checking out book 1 in the series at some point. ~116 pages? full rtc
I enjoyed this short introduction into the Petra Graves Chronicles. I'd never heard of this series before, so I didn't really have an idea of what to expect. It made me think of the Hitman video game but with magic, and far more dangerous targets.
I'm definitely curious to read more about the Crown, an organisation that aims to protect the Hallowed World, and Petra, their latest Contractor.
I received a free copy of this book via Voracious Readers Only and I'm voluntarily leaving this review.
Giving this a 3.5 stars. So for a prequel, this wasn’t a bad book. It was easy to read but lots of I need more details. It starts off with Petra. She is a kick butt takes names kinda person. Also her “handler”, there is something amiss with this. This kinda felt like the alien type movies where they know the future and try and kill them before anything bad happens. Overall it was a good little taste but needs more details on the fetishes and witches. Hopefully a lot of the questions will get answered in the processing books. I was provided a copy for my honest review. No other compensation was given.
I love Pete. She is a bad*ss through and through. However even though she's confident in her abilities she doesn't come across as c*cky. I enjoyed how the villain came about and wasn't what you expected. This is a good quick read. I enjoyed reading this and now I need to read the rest of the series.
A scary intriguing story of Petra’s first assignment as a perspective agent and the terrifying creatures she fought and overcame. Very interesting and fascinating. I thoroughly enjoyed the story
I enjoyed the novella but at times I was confused, I understood it was just a short story that happened before the books that this novella is based on.
It was well written and i couldn't stop reading until the end. I love the characters as well continue writing will like to read more. I will probably read it again.
