I have been an extreme bibliophile since I was a kid, precociously finishing my first read of "Gone with the Wind" at age 12. I've had lots of stories whirling around in my head over the years and am grateful for the opportunities afforded by the relatively new world of self-publishing.

Personally, I am a wife, career woman and mom to 3 amazing little divas, I ride a Harley, have ink, a smart mouth and a dirty mind - this latter always with apologies to my mom who wishes she could wash it out with soap!

This journey of writing I am on is by far the most landmark moment in my life. I will always hope that my characters and their stories will bring as much enjoyment to my readers as I get from writing them!

What a great debut novel! This was a very original storyline, and the sex was panty-melting! I love both Jazz and Julian!! I can not wait to "explore" the rest of The Potential Trilogy!

I have only 3 complaints. First, it still needs some editing work for typos, formatting (bold print and such), and mistaken word choices (off the "beating" path vs off the "beaten" path). Second, "*smirk*" was overused a bit. Last, I HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE REST OF THE STORY!! I don't want to be patient!! :)

Great job, Peyton! Overall: 4.5 stars from me.

What I really liked about this book was the character Julian. From the very first page I really liked him. He was funny, intense, sexy and just a little weird. He works hard for everything he has and when he meets Jazz he is immediately hooked. I really liked how he tried to make everything great for Jazz. Julian tried to keep his feelings a secret because he didn’t want to scare Jazz away and I really enjoyed reading that.

This book takes place in Paris. And I just love that city. Paris is such a romantic, beautiful and mystique place and I loved reading about Jullian and Jazz exploring this city. Their running trips to the Eifel tower where really great to read about. And having been in Paris, two times myself, I could really picture the places they visited. (Not all of them :D)

But there was one big downfall for me in this book. I like reading ‘intense’ and ‘sexy’ books (I mean look at my ‘Read’ list) but this book was filled with a little too much sex for me. I kind of felt like this book was to fixed on these sex scenes. I sort of lost the romantic feeling which I love most in these kind of books. And the proposition Julian does? That really bumped me out. I think I’m just a little too old fashioned for this book. I really wish I felt differently because I really liked Julian St. Sauveur.

This book is definitely one to check out for yourself. I have such mixed feelings about this one…

3.5 stars rounded up to 4

The reason I give 3.5 stars is the book could use some good editing work. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, there were just lots of mistakes. But I enjoyed the story so much I gave an extra 1/2 star and made it 4 stars.

Julian and Jazz were hot together! Peyton can write a mad sex scene! And reading about an un-cut cock was different for me. Not in a bad way of course, it was just something you don't see in books very often. Jazz is a recently widowed women in search of the ultimate vacation. Julian just happens to be on the same flight as Jazz and ends up being next to her on the plane ride. Julian is immediately captivated by Jazz and is very forward in his pursuit. But then Jazz amps up her game and causes Julian to realize he has to have this woman.

Jazz is not ready for that commitment just yet and tells Julian that and he respects her wishes, but in the back of his mind he says he will do everything he can to get her to change her mind. He has 3 weeks to change her mind. He does a fairly good job of that too. And just as things are starting to get very interesting, the story ends, leaving me bereft and wanting that next part of the story. So Peyton, get on that shit right away! I need to know how this next part plays out!!

Review by: Amber Haynes NerdGirl

A story about a profound women, who sacrificed her own adventures and life to take care of her husband. After his passing she wishes to take flight and embark on many adventures. She wants to experience all the things that she was unable to during her marriage. Her first adventure being a handsome rich architect. Who wants nothing more, but to claim her as his own. This book was an eye opening story. It takes you to a world where monogamous relationship has a whole new meaning. I enjoyed discovering about new adventures and new potential within two people. At first glance I would have said this book reminded me of a lighter version of Fifty Shades of Grey. Although I found that once I got a little more into the book I realized that, that assumption was completely false. These characters have their own uniqueness about them. This story is very empowering for women. It shows that there is life after loss and that any women can be confident and vulnerable at the same time, while still being attractive to a man. The journey in which these two characters embark on is not only mind blowing, but very entertaining as well. I laughed, I teared up and I even learned some things along the way. I am looking forward to reading the next installment of this series. If you want a little adventure and want to get lost in a story, then this book is for you! I would defiantly recommend this book!

This story was very captivating. It left me wanting more of Julian and Jazz. It took me a little while to get into but once I did I really enjoyed it. The sex is panty melting and the fun jabber between the characters is light. It makes it seem real. I can't wait for the next book in December!

Good Job on your Debut Novel!

Exploration is a perfect title for the first part of Julian and Jazz’s journey. Neither Julian St. Sauveur or Jazzmyne Mickelson are looking for love or commitment when they board their flight for Paris, but their chance encounter on the airplane and the sexual chemistry they feel right from the start leads them to take a chance on each other and explore their mutual attraction. Quickly, their passion in the bedroom and their enjoyment of each other’s company leads both Julian and Jazz to develop feelings that were never part of their agreement. What is meant to be a journey of self discovery – a way for Jazz to step outside of the box and take risks slowly turns into a relationship where both participants actually want more than they’re willing to admit.

But Jazz also feels like she needs the chance to experience life on her own and the highs and lows that come with it. She’s only 26 years old, but her life up until this point has been filled with being a caregiver for her cancer stricken husband, and while she wouldn’t have changed her decision to be with him and care for him, her life was not her own; she didn’t get to experience the normal things someone does in her early twenties, which is exactly what this trip to Paris is supposed to be. But her feelings for Julian and the man himself complicates things and overwhelms her, but she also can’t deny that he makes her feel alive and wanted, which are two things that have been lacking in her life for many years.

Julian hasn’t had a committed relationship for six years, but the idea of one with Jazz is constantly at the forefront of his mind. He can’t get enough of her, but he knows he has to tread lightly and keep his feelings bottled up a bit, so he doesn’t scare her off. He understands Jazz’s need to explore the woman she is now that she is on her own, and he doesn’t begrudge her those adventures, but he also wants her to understand that what he feels for her is worth exploring – their potential as a couple is worth figuring out, and he’s going to do what needs to be done to ensure that she allows that to happen.

Exploration is a sexually charged book that will entice readers right from the start. It makes sense that there are an abundance of sex scenes written into the storyline because, at the beginning, that is what their relationship is supposed to be about – nothing more, nothing less. But even as the feelings start to develop, the best way Julian and Jazz explain how they feel is through their sexual encounters because the words are too overwhelming for either of them for much of the text. Peyton Sloane does a great job of writing these scenes and making it clear to the reader that the passion they feel for one another and the physical attraction they have is something neither can deny.

Jazz and Julian are extremely well written characters. Readers get a sense of who each one is through their quirks, actions, and expressions. Jazz is an extraordinarily strong woman whose strength is shown in the way she carries herself. I love that she’s a biker but she also can be the belle of the ball. She oozes sex appeal but doesn’t know it, which is what makes her so appealing to many of the male characters in the story. At first, I wasn’t sure about Julian – he seemed too forward and arrogant, but as the text progresses and his feelings for Jazz develop, he is caring, romantic, and a true gentleman – at least outside the bedroom.

The only aspect of the text that makes it a bit confusing at times is the third person narration. There are parts in the book where the narrator describes outsiders’ perspectives of both Jazz and Julian, but then they are never explored again. I also think that if the book was told through the first person point of view from the minds and hearts of both Jazz and Julian that it would have added additional insights of what they were thinking and feeling as they began their mutual exploration.

Despite my narration preference, though, I loved the storyline and characters in Exploration. Jazz and Julian’s story is definitely not over, and I can’t wait to see what Peyton Sloane has in store for them as the trilogy continues. It will be interesting to see if Jazz takes Julian up on his offer and what that means for them as a couple.

Robbie's Review
Exploration is an amazing debut novel for author Peyton Sloane. Like her main characters Jazzmyne Mickelson and Julian St. Sauveur, the author is exploring her potential and shows great promise. Jazz and Julian first meet on a flight to Paris. After years of caring for her terminally ill husband, Jazz is treating herself to a very special trip. Her decision to break her budget by flying luxury class introduces Jazz to the opulence that is Julian's world. If you've ever had a fantasy about meeting an attractive stranger and acting on an instant passionate connection, this book will definitely appeal to you.
He wasn't male model handsome, but striking and commanding. Along with his remarkable height he had dark tousled curly longish hair., shockingly green eyes and wide shoulders. From the way his suit fit, he was probably the whole package.

Neither Jazz nor Julian is looking for a long term commitment. Jazz is looking to make up for the time she lost while caring for her late husband and Julian is looking for a showpiece to accompany him to his high octane social events.
She couldn't deny Julian's charisma, but she wasn't looking for another relationship. She wasn't going to jump in like she had with Ryan — she had things to do and places to see.

But Julian gets more than he bargained for and finds himself intrigued by Jazz and her unique take on life.
When Julian asked what she was passionate about aside from her Harley and riding, he wasn't surprised when she responded that she just didn't know yet and was hoping to find out on this trip. He chuckled when she said she was exploring the potential.

Despite Julian's undeniable charisma and the intensity of their developing relationship, Jazz isn't prepared to give up her dream of exploration.
"What scares me about you Julian is that nothing scares me. It's like you have completely disarmed any instincts for self-preservation I have. You could do anything to me and I'd let you and I want to do anything for you. There's a whole bunch of wrong in feeling like that about someone I've just met." ~ Jazz

Julian finds that he doesn't want to let Jazz leave him behind as she continues her adventure and proposes that they continue their relationship, but with a twist that Jazz finds unorthodox and provocative.
"But just so you know, I have no intention of completely relinquishing you. I know you feel this incredible chemistry between us and I will do everything in my power so you want to spend more time with me." ~ Julian

Exploration has a fascinating story line that will reel you in from the beginning. Jazz is a sweet and quirky heroine who is not the sort of woman Julian would be expected to find attractive and Julian...every time he calls Jazz "Chère", I just get visions of New Orleans and those delicious Cajun accents. Exploration is filled with wonderful descriptions of Paris. These alone are worth the read and they are integrated very well into the story so the book doesn't read like a travelogue. There is a lot of sex between Jazz and Julian but the scenes are written with creativity, passion, and humor, and often have a playful quality. Angst-phobes will be glad to hear there is not a lot of angst in the book although Jazz does manage to befriend a fellow American who threatens to spoil her attempt at a carefree adventure by forcing his attentions on her. We strongly suspect that Julian has a hand in getting him to back off. Since I am not a fan of the current trend toward first person narrative, I found this book refreshing with its third person perspective. Exploration is in need of some editing and even though it is a trilogy, I thought the ending was rather abrupt. Despite those two things, I found myself fascinated by the relationship Julian proposes to Jazz and definitely want to continue to follow their story. Copy received from the author for an honest review

Believe me when I says that this is definitely for mature audiences only!

Jazz Mickelson is on a journey of self discovery. Widowed at 26, she is getting out there and finally living her life. She loved her husband, but she realises she has missed out on so much in her short life.

Julian St. Savuer is the sexy, worldly man, and though he has everything someone feels they need, he wants love. Commitment.

When they meet on a flight to Paris, things heat up pretty damn quickly. From meeting to pretty much joining the mile high club in one short flight. It may just be me, but their behaviour on the plane felt a little bit creepy - feeling each other up while the other is sleeping, things like that.

I loved that Jazz was not the cookie-cutter heroine. She was part boho chic, part bad ass biker chick! Dreadlocks instead of perfectly coiffed hair. This made her all kinds of awesome in my mind. And Julian is not the regular "Billionaire around town" and loved that he had to fight for more with Jazz, rather than the girl chasing after the man.

Ms Sloane has a way with imagery that just makes you feel like you are right there in Paris with our duo, seeing the sights, smelling the smells.

So while I did enjoy the story, there were a few things in the execution that let things down.

Punctuation: We would know we were starting a conversation because we had "quote marks" to open but not to close. I had to go back at times and reread thinking "huh? What are they talking about?" only to find that they are no longer in a conversation. I am a bit of a punctuation perfectionist at times, so this bothered me.

Text talk: There is nothing wrong with text talk when the characters are messaging each other, but I had issues with it being used to convey emotions, etc. Eg instead of saying "he smirked", all we got at the end of a sentence was *smirk*, like she was adding an emoticon. And this happened a lot!

Grammatical errors: There were quite a few of these, especially at the beginning but this got better as the story continued.

POV: sometimes this flip flopped between the two so quickly that I was not sure who I was reading.

There is nothing here that a couple of rounds of edits couldn't fix, but it would make it more enjoyable to read.

I loved how compatible Jazz and Julian were in the bedroom. I mean seriously hot stuff. I just wish that there had been more of an emotional connection between them - though I can understand why there isn't to begin with, being a holiday fling and all, and his is the first part in a trilogy, so this may come as their story continues.

This is Ms Sloane's debut novel, and yes I really could see the "potential" in it. I am interested to see where Jazz and Julian's relationship goes, and I will read the next book in the series.

Book 1 in The Potential Trilogy.

Jazzmyne Mickelson is on a voyage of self discovery. After losing her husband to cancer at the tender age of 26 and having cared for him for the last 4 years, Jazz feels it's time to do something for herself.

We meet Jazz as she boards a plane bound for Paris. It's a place she visited as a child with her parents, and for her the place to recover from a very tough 4 years. On the plane, she is seated next to a tall and dark stranger named Julian St. Sauveur. They soon get chatting and form an unexplainable connection. Julian makes his lust for Jazz clear and when they find that not only were they seated together on the plane but are also staying at the same hotel; Julian makes it his mission to get to know this fascinating woman a lot more.

Jazz soon finds herself agreeing to accompany Julian to a business function, leaving her feeling overwhelmed by this enigmatic man.

Will Julian get under Jazz's skin and convince her to "explore their potential"? Will she discover the person she has lost over the last 4 years? and will she fit into the opulent world in which Julian lives?

This is a good debut novel by Peyton Sloane

Jazzmyne is a really different character to your normal heroine in this genre. Bohemian with braided hair, she works for a Harley dealership and rides a motorcycle herself. When her college sweetheart was diagnosed with cancer, she accepted his marriage proposal and cared for him until his death. This relationship though lacked passion and she was very much trapped in a marriage with a dying man out of loyalty and compassion. This trip for her really is about discovering herself and living her life in the way she should have been doing over the past 4 years. The chemistry she has with Julian is a new experience for her and it scares her; especially given the life he leads.

Julian made me swoon. A very successful, well known architect, he lives a jet set lifestyle rarely staying in one place for too long. He of course comes with his own baggage, in particular his reluctance to form any meaningful relationships. He does however still believe in finding a great love. Jazz is someone he wants to "explore potential" with. He is very alpha but at the same time is very understanding of Jazz's need for self discovery. He treats Jazz with kid gloves in the hope that she will also want to discover herself with him.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a twist on the billionaire meets girl next door story and I can honestly say that it is certainly different to the many books with this type of storyline. I liked that Jazz was independent and determined to think of herself above everything else; I also loved that although Alpha, Julian was gentle and understand rather than gruff and dominant.

If I am being really honest, I wish that the book had been told with a dual POV; I think it would have caused less confusion with thoughts and dialogue at times and for me it would of added more depth to both characters. I also found the introduction of a group of fellow tourists a nice addition but for me it was a little too lengthy and when the story started involving their thoughts it was a little confusing and dare I say it unnecessary.

The ending though was interesting (I just wrote more then deleted as don't want to give anything away ;)) It isn't an OMG ending, but it certainly leaves you wanting to find out where the relationship between Jazz and Julian will lead.

On the brightside book 2, Obstruction is out and I for one look forward to reading it.

** review for BareNakedWords **

What an absolute wonderful book from a truly incredible author.

If 'Exploration' is anything to go by, then we are definitely in for some more amazing stories in the future.

I want to start first with the cover. Just look at it... It. Is. Amazing. It's breathtaking, sexy, very sensual and Totally unique. I. Love. It!!!

'Exploration', is exactly what the title depicts. After sacrificing her young adult life caring for her dying husband, newly widowed Jazz is embarking on her own personal Exploration of life and trying to find out who she truly is; and stepping on plane to Paris is where she plans on starting.

Seated next to the, sexy Adonis and world renowned architect Julian St. Sauveur, Jazz feels an instant attraction to him....and vice versa.
It's a long flight to Paris, and both Jazz and Julian talk and get 'quite' familiar with each other.

"He quickly reached around and with one hand latched the door to the "occupied" position while using the index finger of the other on her mouth again, gently grazing her lower lip.
"I am intrigued by you--I want to get to know you better."
"And you need to do that in a bathroom?" Her tone was mocking.
"No". There was that chuckle again. "But a bit of privacy is nice to establish the potential."
"The potential of what?"
"This..." He brought that index finger under her chin, tilted her face up and bent down, softly putting his lips to hers. He released her. "I had to follow-up on my theory that you tasted as good as you smell, both of which are divine by the way...especially your taste..."

Finding out they're both staying in the same hotel, Jazz and Julian agree to spend more time with each other and 'explore' their potential together, without any strings. Which is perfect for them both.

But, the more time they spend together, the deeper their feelings start to grow. They realise that what they have is more than a fling, but have got so much baggage holding them back.

Jazz--wanting to live her life, discover who she is. And even though she's thrilled to have Julian's attention, she can't help feel a little out of his depth while in his company.

"Julian--so eloquent. You...your largesse, your lifestyle, your celebrity and renown--you are just so out of my league that whatever the future for me this weekend will seem like my personal fairytale."

Julian knows she's not ready for another relationship, and although his feelings for her are growing, he encourages her to go out and "live some of the life you sacrificed so young" and will wait for her.

"I didn't think you were ready to hear this yet Chère but I won't let you leave me without knowing how I feel about you...You. Are. My. Nirvana."

And just as it's about to get juicy...WHAM!!! it finishes. I mean, come-on, you got us all worked up and ready and then left us hanging; ~wails~

Thankfully, though I have 'Obstruction' and diving straight back in.

I LOVED this story. It was funny, sexy and off the charts HOT!!!

Ms. Sloane really knows how to write a sex scene and get your juices flowing. The characters were lovable and very easily to connect with.

The writing was amazing and I am very much looking forward to reading more.

Thank you Ms. Sloane for a delectable first novel.

Possibilities and potential – that is what this story is all about. If you were a young new widow, who meets a charismatic, rich, successful, domineering man while she travels to decompress and discover herself, would you agree to spend the first two weeks of your travel to be with him – physically and emotionally?

Julian St. Saveur, billionaire architect and rock god of the architecture world is enamoured and captivated by Jazzmyne Mickleson, Harley-riding-dredge-wearing vixen and widow who he meets in business class on a flight to Paris. She is on the first leg of her world travel. His business and next large restoration project is in Paris. There is instant attraction, sexual and sensual moves and undisguised passion between both of them. Providence has them staying in the same hotel, and it does not take long before Julian starts marking his territory. He feels she is the one he has been waiting for, but also knows that it is too soon to say anything. So he offers the opportunity to “explore” what could be between them. Will she take him up on this offer?

The plot of the story is quite intriguing, most specially the proposition that Julian lays out towards the end of the story. I could not quite grasp why he would propose such a situation, especially when he is quite territorial and possessive about Jazz. He does explain his motivation, which I felt was more of an excuse rather than a reason.
This book, unfortunately, is not ready for publication. There are a lot of typographical errors, spelling mistakes and misuse of the words. For a sophisticated character like Julian, I found that the words and phrases attributed to him at the start of the book did not reflect hat level of sophistication.

I am also trying to figure out why the author would pepper the story with the phrase *smirk* instead of creatively incorporating the image of the hero smirking into the description of the situation or conversation. I feel that the phrase had no merit being included in a published story. Instead, I felt I was reading a posting on twitter. The story could definitely benefit from a review and scrub by a good editor.

“But I’d rather be working on you. *smirk*”
“You look even better. *smirk*”
“… Why don’t you take off those heels – for now, anyway,” *smirk*”
“Couldn’t resist a snack,” he licked his lips. *smirk*”

The research was well done and reflected on how the author described the physical surroundings, the clothing and the atmosphere.

I would have loved to see situations in the book that would show the development of the emotional intimacy of the characters that would lend itself to the love story. The book is peppered with scenes detailing the physical exploration of their relationship, more than necessary to develop the story.

The ending of the book was a bit flat and could use a re-write to entice the reader to wait for and read book two.

As a first time self-published literary product, I commend the author for taking the big step and risk of writing the book and putting her work for others to read and review. The plot of the story is intriguing, and would be enticing with a bit of revision and editing. A good first effort.

Meg's review:
I enjoyed this book. Reading the synopsis after the author approached me I was intrigued. I am definitely a "judge a book by it's cover" type of girl and this cover didn't do it for me. I am SO glad that I went for it though because the author definitely sold this story. It was fantastic.

Jazz and Julian are quite entertaining. Julian is like a little kid at times and I really enjoyed it. Jazz is headstrong and says whats on her mind and I loved that. She doesn't jump right in and it was refreshing to read.

Some parts were a little rough around the edges, and the book could use some editing. Overall ti was a great and quick read though. I can't wait to read the next novel in this series. I know it will grab me as this one did. Very original and refreshing to read.

Hmm, well, this book was HAWT. Truly. I never spell "hot" like that, but I feel it's appropriate for Exploration because.....damn. Maybe that should be da-yum?? Never mind, it's not important. What's important is the fact that this is only book one in the Potential Trilogy and I'm already hooked. Seriously hooked. Because I've just finished and I'm kinda, sorta, a little hot and bothered and desperate for book two. In case you're wondering, I consider that to be a good thing. I'm also considering the merits of the Cajun accent and whether I should start springing for business or first class on all future flights.... *Fans self* If y'all could see the highlighting I did in this book.... Line after line of panty-melting dirty-talk and sexual discovery. Wow.

Jazzmyne Mickelson is looking to explore life and the world. Widowed at 26 after years of watching her husband's health fail, it's time for her to seek out new experiences, new people and new places. Her first adventure? Paris. On the airplane, she sits next to a handsome, sexily-accented man and is immediately drawn to him. Julian St. Sauveur sees the beguiling woman and recognizes the potential between them. Not one to sit around and wait, he's intent on winning her over, exploring that potential and having her as quickly as he can. He can tell that she's reluctant to enter another long-term commitment so soon after her husband's death but he's not about to lose her when he's just found her. Instead, he plans to show her Paris, his wealthy world and make her an intriguing proposition for the future of their new relationship...

I'm not going to beat around the bush. There's a lot of sex in this book.... A. Lot. Of. Sex. This is a book about self discovery and trying new things, so it works. I'll admit that there isn't a lot going on outside of the bedroom - when they're not in it they're talking about it, or so it seems - but that didn't lessen my enjoyment of it. It played into the idea that Jazz had missed a lot, and suffered because of it, in her marriage and her marriage bed. Plus, Jazz and Julian had undeniable chemistry as well as something you don't see a lot of in books: good communication. He did the alpha-male thing, she told him off. They compromised. It was refreshing. She wasn't ready for a relationship, he wasn't willing to let her push him, and their potential, away. They found middle ground. Again, refreshing. I'm not convinced this book is specific to one genre either. It's a little bit of everything. A little bit biker, a little bit billionaire. A little bit contemporary, a little bit erotica. I'm intrigued with the direction that Peyton Sloane is taking the couple. It, as Julian would say, has some serious potential and I can't wait to get my hands on book two, Obstruction, to see what she does with it and how the characters handle phase two of their relationship. I only hope it's a HAWT as Exploration.

This is the first book in the Potential Trilogy and has a minor cliffhanger (*wiggles eyebrows* a sexy cliffhanger!!!)

First of all I don’t feel really qualified to review this book as I don’t really care for the genre. I read this book because Peyton is a personal friend and I want to support her efforts in the literary world and nothing I have to say is in anyway personal. I agree with an earlier review that said the book would benefit from more editing. There are some typo’s or auto corrections that put in the wrong words. Unfortunately I didn’t keep notes as to where these were. A few I recall off the top of my head are the word unit used instead of the intended until, you when it should have been you’re, off the beating path instead of beaten path. They are very minor mistakes that with a little more editing probably would have been picked up. One glaring mistake was the use of Emile the concierge, when it should have been Antoine the chauffeur, I can’t remember if it was Julian or Jazz in the limo but it made me do a head scratch, I thought the chauffeur was Antoine not Emile. It makes the story lose continuity and should have been picked up in editing.
Another word or phrase in this story that is over used and gets annoying is the, (*smirk*). It is used way too often and other words could have been used to describe his facial expressions, it seemed the lazy way instead of finding different phrases.
Not being a fan of the genre and into thrillers, mysteries, suspense and horror, I find the sheer amount of sex somewhat unbelievable. It gets a little boring for me and in other genres when a gratuitous sex scene is thrown in, it’s a little titillating and then it’s over and back to the main story. In this story its turn the page and here we go again. I would have liked more focus on Jazz and Julian’s lives before they met, though it did do so towards the end. Like I already said, I’m not a fan of the genre and perhaps all of the books in this niche are like this.
Now for what I liked: I think the narrative description is very well done. Peyton sets the scene in the places and landscape around our central characters. The research has been well done and I felt like I was in Paris or in the Four Seasons. The sex itself was exceptionally detailed but would have liked more detail of their surroundings while engaged in the act. There is a good underlying story here that I hope she develops in the second part of the trilogy. For a first time effort I think she has hit a stand up triple and encourage and support her to continue writing not just in this genre but other types as well. This trilogy could continue into a beautiful love story, not just sexual pleasure as Jazz and Julian and the reader learn more about them.
Congratulations Peyton, well done and continued success!

*Sigh* I really hate writing bad reviews especially when the author so kindly provides you with an arc but they ask for honest and I will definitively be honest about what I thought of it. By the rating I'm guessing you can tell that this book was not for me!

Jazz is a widow at 26 years old and she had been with the same man since she was 18.She hasn't had her wild days and she doesn't have much experience so she is out on a trip of self discovery, a trip where she lets go and explores the things she never got to explore before.

She never would have expected someone like Julian St. Sauveur to come into her life and help on her journey of exploration. He likes what he sees with Jazz and can see potential for a lot more. But Julian has a plan or proposition which entails fantasies exploration and much more.It starts with accompanying him to a business function where she is blown away by the extravagance but ends up being a lot more intense and wild. Will Jazz jump in and go along with it or call it all off?

The starting was good I guess I wanted to see how it would all work out, where things would go from here but then it started getting too slow for me and I couldn't really concentrate on it. I really thought the book would be different and that Julian would be more of an alpha male! I like my jealous, protective fictional men!!

I really thought it had potential to be a great book but around 50% or before it started to really slow down. I didn't feel like it was going anywhere, I felt like it stopped moving forward at a point and began to feel repetitive at times. The proposition Julian made..yeah killed it for me urgh I don't know it just wasn't the right book for me!

The ending finalized it for me really, really emphasised how this wasn't a book for me.I nearly gave up on it half way but decided to continue to see if it got better. It took me a while to get through it due to it being too slow for my liking.I doubt I will be carrying on with the series I prefer my characters to have a different relationship to what this one entails.

There are a lot of hot scenes in this book so for those who love a book about a journey of exploration and open relationships this may be a book for you!

Reviewed on behalf of Fictional BookHos:

This is a beautiful first book by a new author and bodes well for her future efforts. It is the first book in new The Potential Trilogy. I am looking forward to the next two books in the series.

This first book does a nice job introducing the two main characters, Jazzmyne Mickelson and Julian St. Sauveur. They find themselves sitting next to each other on a long flight from New York to Paris. Their new relationship starts off with mild flirtation, but quickly escalates to strong innuendo and then to fondling.

I thought the relationship moved unnaturally fast in the beginning, especially when you consider that Jazz is recently widowed, her husband having passed only months earlier after a long and difficult illness. She cared for him while he was sick, and I understand that she is still young, only 26 years old, and that this trip to Paris is a way for her to kick up her heels, so to speak, and learn to live again. But still, considering her situation, it seemed to me that she was a little too quick to get physically involved with this strange handsome man she met on the plane.

Speaking of the man, his name is Julian and we learn that he owns his own wildly successful architectural firm. We later discover that he is known by some as the Rock God of the Architectural World. Julian is a strong alpha male, but he is not overbearing about it. Unlike so many of these kinds of books, he does not have a dark disturbing past that he has to overcome. He is not into BDSM. He is just a passionate and handsome guy, widely successful, and strongly attracted to this strange woman he meets on the plane.

One of the things I liked best about this book is that it did not have a lot of angst in it. It is basically a sweet passionate erotic romance between two people who fall hard for each other. Other than some guilt on Jazz's part over the mixed feelings she has for her departed husband. He was not a very passionate lover even before his illness, and it got even worse when he got sick. Julian is a very passionate lover, and he helps Jazz rediscover her own repressed sexuality.

If you are in the mood for a sweet erotic novel, one without a bunch of hard core angst or BDSM, but one that has a ton of hot sex, compelling characters, and lots of potential for the future, then you really should read Exploration by Peyton Sloane.

Exploration is the story of Jazz and Julian.

Recently widowed at such a young age, Jazz has learned to seize life. She sets off on an adventure to Paris, a city she has always wanted to visit. As luck would have it, on the plane to Paris she ends up next to Julian. Julian is an extremely wealthy and talented architect who is finishing a job in Paris. He just so happens to be incredibly attractive!
Things escalate quickly on their flight, both emotionally and physically, leaving Julian no doubt that he want to pursue Jazz. However, with her past he knows that she is not ready for such a bold statement. When fate steps in again, landing them in the same hotel, Julian sets his sights on Jazz and decides to pursue her diligently.
As Julian decides to open Jazz’s eyes to his world, their relationship progresses - until Julian makes an intriguing proposal to Jazz regarding the future of their relationship. Things get interesting, and it definitely sets the stage for a great second book.

Though it is not something that normally bothers me, there did seem to be a lot of grammatical errors in this book. Also there were times that the point of view changed so rapidly that it was hard to keep up. However, I must give credit where credit is due, and this did get better as the book progressed. I think that with the right editor, this book has great potential. The story was fresh and the sex was off-the-charts hot…. I mean H-O-T-T-T! I was incredibly impressed with Peyton’s ability to have the characters so completely compatible in the bedroom. I do wish that compatibility would have transcended outside of the bedroom. I think that both Jazz and Julian have so much potential to be more “in depth” characters. I do keep reminding myself, however, that this is a trilogy – so perhaps their emotional connection will be developed more in the coming books. I would definitely love to see that.

Overall, I was intrigued throughout the entire book. Though at first this book seems like it is going to be your traditional “billionaire romance” there are some definite twist and turns that give it it’s own unique spin. This book does end on a slight cliffy, so you’ve been warned – but I cannot wait to see where Peyton takes Julian and Jazz in book two.

First and foremost, I am honored to have been asked to review this novel. I received a copy in exchange for my honest review. Exploration is Peyton Sloane’s debut novel, and the first in, “The Potential” series.

That being said, I have to be honest; I loved and hated this book. There were moments where I was so captivated, so enthralled by the imagery, and then it fall flat. (Just like that sentence!) The characters, Julian and Jazz, have a wonderful dynamic and I truly love the confidence and self-worth Jazz gains throughout the novel. The way her self-growth is encouraged, and by whom, is refreshing. Julian is a beautiful character as well, so strong and self assured, without being a pompous ass. But the dialogue between them seemed too formal and stuffy for their relationship. It lacked a natural flow and playfulness. Which I feel is mostly due to a lack of confidence. Ms. Sloane has in her the ability to write. There were often times I had to force the dialogue through my mind, causing me to frequently reread whole pages. Now, please don’t get wrong. I like this book and once it’s been edited, I will love this book. Ms. Sloane just needs to realize her own potential.

And Oh. My. GOSSSSHHH!!

Can this girl write a love scene, and I say love, because that’s what it was. It was hot, but it also touched deep. Every interaction between them no matter how dirty (and it gets dirty), or seemingly insignificant, the raw emotions were present. Ms. Sloane can make hot-kinky-love with words. But, I am not going to lie; I cannot believe how she left off their first time. I wanted to stop reading the book right there. I was so excited, and then I wanted to throw my iPad across the room. I cannot believe she did not include the details of their first encounter, after all that build up! Bitch, left me with literary blue-balls! Thankfully, I kept going, because once she finally gave me the glorious details, it was incredible. I love the correlation between sex and feminine power, and I love that the hero ignites that in her. I cannot wait for their continuation in the next novel of the series. The ‘potential’ of their relationship will hopefully be three times the fun.

First off a short tid bit about how I was gifted this book over a month ago with the promise of my review coming within two weeks...well that didn't happen and was ever so gently reminded of my promise...NOW, once I started this book it was IMPOSSIBLE to put down (without significant want/craving to pick it right back up) of course having to work and operate a vehicle dampened my reading time. Now it brings me to my review...

I have to say HOLY MOLY! Why in the heck I waiting was enough for me to tell Peyton "ok...slap me now, cuz i seriously could not put the book down, i was reading it almost non-stop since picking it up yesterday (needless to say, work got pushed aside for reading)"

HOLY WOW WOW Wowzers!! what a story!! and the end, just, GAH!! LOL ;) How could it end like that...just when it was ramping up to a new level of hotness, just *sigh*

I must say Jazz and Julian are smokin' hot together, and love how he is so in-tune to her physically and emotionally...add the fact that he calls her Cherie more than Jazz and just *swoon* love his accent and total charm, Julian can melt some panties!!...I for one, totally want a man with an accent to sweep me away in my fantasies!! The sex is hot and the realism of the relationship is totally there...I like that he bought her something special but, adding to the realism of it, made it not the time to give it to her.

There were times I had thought (and only because many books I have been reading lately have it) that the shoe was going to drop or something horrible was going to happen....but by NO means am I upset that it didnt...I got that angsty feeling though every so often during certian moments in the book and of course Travis (i'd cheerfully like to choke the guy)!

This is an incredible first book in 'The Potential Trilogy' and will totally hook you! Peyton absolutely has a gift of making you feel like the voyeur watching everything and not pushing to the realms of unbelievable.

Eagerly awaiting book two!! Thank goodness I already have it on my kindle!! ;) <3

A must read for all romance lovers, just beware and have book two ready to go or you will have a book-hangover from H-E-L-L!! LOL

Warning: This book ends on a cliffhanger, so if cliffhangers arent you're thing please stop reading now!!!

This book is meant for Mature Audiences!!!

This is the first book that I've read by Peyton Sloane and what a way to start!!!! A very good way to start!!

The book centers around the a chance meeting between Julien and Jazz.
Jazz, who is recently widowed is on the vacation of a lifetime to the City of Lights - Paris, where she meets Julien who is seated next to her on the flight.
Julien is captivated with her from the moment he lays eyes on her and is very, very forward on his pursuit of her. What he doesnt count on is Jazz uping the game on him and he realizes that come hell or high water he must have her.

The amazing chemistry that they had on their flight is mild compared to their first weekend in Paris where that chemistry is taken and multiplied a thousand times!!!

As much as Jazz is interested in what Julien has to offer she just isnt ready for a new commitment, something that Julien respects from the get go. But he wants her in his life forever, he wants what his parents have with Jazz and he has 3 weeks to convince her to want the same. What he does offer her will completely blow your mind!!!

Just when you want to know if Jazz will take Julien's offer in hand and do something about it the book comes to a scintillating end, wanting, begging you for more!! I definitely want to know how this plays out for Jazz and Julien.

Overall the book is great from its original storyline to the refreshing characters!!! I really did feel like I was enjoying Paris and the sex scenes are "fan me" hot.

I have to be honest this isn't a book I normally would've picked of my own accord, after reading it that is, due to its context. But Im widening my reading capabilities and in doing so keeping an opening mind about subject matter. Having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed the book, and it certainly was a page turner for me!! So never judge a book by its cover, or in this case the subject matter!!!

Looking forward to the next book already.

ARC received by author for honest review

I liked this story, I really did. I had a few issues with the book which I'll get to but first I'll start with what I liked.
Julian, good looking, rich, confident but not extremely overbearing. He knows how to talk dirty like nobody's business. That mouth....Oh' that mouth the things he does with it.

Jazz, like her a lot. Trying to rediscover herself, she is kick ass and I love her strength.

Love how the author sets up the scenes. Felt like I was right there and could see what the characters were seeing.

The sex, Good God when it was good it was GOOD!! But this takes me to my issues with the book.
First, the first time Julian and Jazz have sex.....WTH?!?! Totally ripped off on that scene. All the sexual tension between these two and then their first time we were left out of it, grant it the author makes up for this if you continue reading. So if you get to that first encounter don't be discouraged keep going I promise you'll be rewarded.

Second issue, the editing. There are quite a few typos, missing words, extra words quotation marks missing or where they weren't suppose to be. But I was able to look past those for the stories sake.

My third and final issue, the use of "**smirking**" we mostly use that when messaging people to let them know what we are doing since they can't see us. Now in a book I would prefer the author use something like "he said as he smirked" not write what the character said and then put **smirking** I know it's a couple extra words but to me this just works better for a book. I probably could have looked past this if it was only done once or twice but it was done numerous times and it bothered me.
Being that this is a debut for the author I think she has the potential for improving. Even as the story progressed I could feel an improvement in the story

All in all, this is a good debut for the author and I'm certainly interested in seeing where she takes the story next. So yes, I will be looking forward to the next book.

I loved that Jazz is very different from many of the heroines that I read about. She is a little bohemian and a little badass biker chic. Julian is a hot, successful, rich businessman who is a little wacky and goofy at times but very likeable. They have a connection from the first time they meet on the plane to Paris, but Jazz is hesitant to start any sort of relationship so soon after being widowed.

We learn that her marriage was based on love and caring but not necessarily romantic love. As a result, she is embarking on an epic “road trip” to explore and enjoy herself- she just didn’t count on that exploration being on a personal and sexual level as well.

The sex scenes definitely steamed up the pages and there were more than enough of them- I am surprised Julian’s man parts were not worn to a nub by the time this book was finished! I am not normally one to say that a book had too much sex but I will admit to skimming through a few parts after they found that they just couldn’t keep their hands off each other (again).

There were a few times where I thought the editor could have done a better job clarifying transitions between POVs; I had to go back and re-read several parts to figure out who was speaking and where it had switched. I did think that the story ended very abruptly, but I knew that there was a cliffhanger ending so I had mentally prepared myself for it. Book 2 is available now but book 3 is still not on the horizon so I will likely wait until both of the remaining books in the trilogy are out before I complete it.

I want to thank the author for providing a copy of Exploration in exchange for an honest review- I felt that this was a solid debut book with enjoyable characters that pulled me in to the story. Had I seen the book as I was scrolling through an online retailer searching for a new read, the cover would not have likely been enough to pull in by itself and that would have been a shame.

A fun holiday romance, which could develop into more, but what is more? I won't included any spoilers, but it was not what I was expecting and that make this read an interesting one.

The characters at first come across as a little bit creepy in their flirtatious ways, but as the story moves on they become quite likeable. Jazz is a strong woman who is overcoming the loss of her husband and is getting out in the world, discovering herself so to speak and exploring new things. Julian is a worldly man who is constantly travelling and knows what he wants and what he expects. He introduces Jazz to scenarios she's never even given thought to.

The book only spans over a week, so there is only minimal character develop during that time that I felt was reasonable, but there was enough for you to notice a change in particular Jazz and the ways she has always thought about relationships. Julian only changed in his feelings towards Jazz. Otherwise, I found he remained fairly constant.
It is nicely written; moves at a decent pace which keeps the reader interested.

Only a couple of things that I felt let down by this book is first one is the lack of emotion. At times, Jazz would burst into tears, and it felt out of the blue and I was questioning why? Thankfully in most cases she explains herself but to me it didn't feel right. Secondly, the editing needed a bit more work as well.

As for the romance side of things, that is well done, and there are some very steamy love scenes included.

The ending of this a little abrupt but I believe it finished at just the right moment, leaving you hanging, the book needed that type of ending in my opinion.

Overall an interesting read that keeps the pages turning, and if you enjoy a holiday romance this may be right up your alley.

‘Exploration’ depicts Jazzmyne Mickelson’s journey of self-discovery. She travels to Paris by herself after her husband dies of cancer in need of an adventure and experience all the things she had to sacrifice over the last few years due to her husband’s sickness. On the plane she meets Julian St. Sauveur and an erotic journey begins for both of them.

I have loved Jazz from page one. She is a strong biker babe, who is very self-assured when it comes to her work, friends and family. However, the fact that she is unsure and rather self-conscious when it comes to intimacy makes her more endearing and human in my opinion. Also, her humor and self- deprecating ways had me laughing out loud quite a bit throughout the story.

Julian, on the other hand, is confidence personified. He is self-assured in most every aspect of life and knows exactly what he wants and goes after it. He is also funny, considerate, gentle, self-possessed, overbearing and possessive. All of this makes one hot package.

The two of them together though make one sizzling hot ensemble. Julian helps Jazz discovering her sexuality and the sex is off the charts hot. They complement each other not only in character but also in the bedroom, which makes for some amazingly hot scenes. Their chemistry is very palpable throughout the story.

I very much enjoyed this story and cannot wait to read the sequel. The only thing that bothered me a bit were Julian’s text messages, which were written in the teenage style that is nowadays mostly used by High School and College students, which I think doesn’t fit Julian, as he is very eloquent normally. It just doesn’t quite fit his persona. Otherwise I think the book was awesome! And I sure will read more books of this author in the future. If you enjoy a story with smoking hot sex scenes and relatable characters; I highly recommend this story.

OMG! I am so in love with Jazz and Julian.

Jazz is on a journey of self discovery. After years of sacrifice, she finds herself single and unsure of who she truly is.

A chance meeting on a flight to France, Jazz meet the extremely hot and enigmatic Julian. An instant attraction has them agreeing to spend time together during her stay in France.

Totally out of character and some what reckless, Jazz throws caution to the wind and decides to have a hot holiday fling with the sexy Cajun. What has she got to lose? A couple of weeks of hot sex, letting her hair down and just forgetting about her past is just what the doctor ordered.

Julian is a successful, wealthy, world renowned architect. His reputation precedes him and people fall over themselves to have his attention. While Jazz is thrilled to have his attention, she is constantly feeling out of her depth and out of place in his company.

The more time they spend together, the more they realise that this is so much more than a fling. The problem is both have baggage that holds them back from being open to the possibilities.

Jazz spends a lot of time trying to keep things in perspective, but little does she know that Julian is determined to win her heart and he will wait as long as it takes to do so. The question is can he convince Jazz that their connection is so much more than the hot and steamy sex they share? Can Jazz trust that she deserves the love and affection of this beautiful man? Can they get their feelings out before Jazz's vacation is over?

I know I am barracking for team Jazz/Julian all the way...book two is awaiting my perusal...because I just cannot get enough of this gorgeous story and the wonderful characters Ms Sloane has created. You have a new fan right here Ms Sloane...I am dedicated to travel this journey with Jazz and Julian all the way to the very end!

Starting this book I was a little surprised at all the tragedy that had happened to main character Jazz Mickelson. Luckily such tragedy was in the past and she was moving on in her young life. Her entire world changed when her husband died, leaving her a widow at age 26. Jazz knew this tragedy was bound to happen, as her husband had been battling cancer for the last four long years. Now that time has given in, Jazz is a widow and does something she has wanted to do for a while. Explore and live for her, live out every dream she’s had. Thus she boards a plane to Paris, and that’s where she meets billionaire and sex God Julian St. Sauvuer. I’m a sucker for any books set in Europe so it was very exciting to see all the amazing places Julian took Jazz.
Once Julian coaxed Jazz into the plane bathroom and had just a nibble of her I was very hooked on him. This book started a little slow, but once their chemistry really took off I couldn’t wait to see how things would play out. Of course Jazz couldn’t say no to such a man, neither could I! Once in Paris the real fun began and each character really let go and let the other in. It did take some time for Julian to get Jazz to spend her time with him in the hotel penthouse, but once there she fell hard. This odd couples sex was sensational! Things happened that Jazz didn’t know she could ever feel or a man could ever do to her.
This book was certainly a fun read, but the end killed me. Or should I say left me hanging with a lot of suspense as what will happen with Jazz and Julian. I felt like I like I just fell off a cliff. I definitely need the second book right away! I just hope it picks up hot and heavy like this one ended.

4 .5 STEAMY STARS!

This is a story about finding love and yourself, learning to move on with life, exploring your potential, and forgiveness. This story was beautiful, heartfelt, and totally naughty in every possible way. But I want readers to be warned, this book does end in a cliffhanger, but it isn't too bad that you want to throw kindle!

This is the story of Jazz and Julian. Jazz is a widower at the tender age of 26. While boarding a flight to Paris, she meets the mysterious Julian. What starts out friendly and by chance, turns into something so much more as these two have a connection like no other. Jazz will go beyond her limits, push her boundaries, and go on the exploration of a lifetime with Julian. But as things come to light and secrets are revealed, will Julian and Jazz be able to withstand and stay strong? Well the live they are building be able to outlast the storm?

This book starts out with a bang, telling us about Jazz and losing her husband. To start with someone and endure what she did was humbling. I liked Jazz, but I loved Julian. He was so yummy. He had a mouth that was sinful. He was sexy, charismatic, hot, rich, powerful, dominating, and loving. I loved the way he talked. He has a way to make your panties melt and your heart beat a little faster.. I'm a sucker for a man with an accent.

This book has a great storyline. It flowed well. I loved how we intermittently for thoughts from both Jazz and Julian. Now the sex in this book is off the charts. The chemistry between them is off the charts. The sexual tension between these two whenever they are together is scorching.

YOU. MUST. ONE. CLICK. Read this book now because guess what... book two, Obstruction, is already out! :)
