Beyond this Heaven

Rate this book
Iram Haider Kaul is missing. The writer-turned-Chief Minister’s wife has vanished without a trace, leaving behind a fragile peace in Kashmir, a world teetering on the edge, and an infant son in the arms of her husband, Atharva Singh Kaul. As militants rise to reclaim a land barely healing, Atharva struggles to balance his role as a single father and the leader of Jammu & Kashmir. The man who once seemed unstoppable is now on the brink of unraveling.

But it’s not just Kashmir falling apart — it’s the memories of what they built together. Two years of triumph and tragedy flash before him — from intimate nights in Mumbai and London to unraveling truths in Yorkshire and Jammu, from courting alliances to uncovering long-buried secrets about Iram’s past and Sufiyaan Sheikh’s birth, secrets that almost tore them apart. Those years shaped their love, their family, their fight. And now, that time feels stolen.

Until one call changes everything. A glimmer of hope, a dangerous lead. Torn between his duty to his son, his people, and the woman he cannot lose, Atharva faces his greatest battle yet. The only difference is, he is not a man on his own anymore. Will he still jump across the barbed wire for the heaven that is his home?

A MISSING WOMAN.

A FRANTIC MAN.

A FRACTURED LAND.

WILL THEY RECLAIM THE FATE OF KASHMIR?

"After the mysteries of The City of Pillars and their unravelling in The Space in Between, it is time Atharva and Iram face the whole truth and nothing but the truth in this thrilling, swoon-worthy sequel to the acclaimed Kashmiri political romance saga -- The Heaven Series."

Iram Haider Kaul is a new woman. Atharva Singh Kaul is the same man. Their life together is one that dreams are made of. Dreams that neither dared weave.

It is their heaven.

But. There's just so many fruits one can pluck from holy trees, only so much pious water one can drink from sparkling waterfalls, only so much wine that one can hold in their cup. And it is in this book that they realise that eternal happiness, just as eternal unhappiness, is impossible. That there is something beyond heaven and hell. A place that Iram had just begun to learn about from her father's tidbits and the Ladakhi monk's Zen stories -- that which remains when everything else passes.

They have been together through each others' joys and in each others' sorrows. Can they remain together beyond those joys and sorrows?

“This too shall pass.”
“But we will remain, Iram.”

Book 3 of Heaven Series, Beyond This Heaven, by @authorbhavini is here and I am yet again in a mess of emotions, heavy and unable to comprehend.

When I think of the Heaven Series as a whole, I know that heaven, hell, Kashmir, World, reality, illusion, past, present, future and all coincide in mess. In a beautiful.. flowy.. mess of emotions.

The world is in need of a man like Atharva Singh Kaul and a woman like Iram Haider Kaul. Kashmir needs a man like that, and his Jannat— needs a man like that. But, this third installment of the Heaven Series makes it clear that Heaven and Hell don't just coexist in Kashmir, they also co-exist in Iram Kaul.

Iram is a woman who took her time coming out of survival mode, but when Heaven turned to hell, she went right back, as if she'd never left. Atharva, the man who thrives.. thrives on being Iram's protector is left flailing on what to do.

This book, especially is more about Iram than Atharva.. in the end. Because Atharva in this book is more about Iram than he is about himself. This book is about Heaven being inseparable from hell. Of them being the two sides of the same coin. This book is about home. And how that home shatters leaving a little less than ash and a little more than smoke in its wake.

Trope : An Indian Political After-Marriage Single Dad Romance (The Heaven Series 3.0)

Beyond This Heaven by Bhavini K Desai – A Love Story That Wrecks & Rebuilds You

Oh. My. God. I was NOT ready for the absolute emotional havoc this book unleashed on me. My heart? Shattered. My soul? Wrecked. My mind? Still lingering in the remnants Atharva and Iram’s world, trying to piece itself back together.

Two people. Two worlds. So different, yet so achingly, beautifully drawn to each other. Their collision isn’t just a meeting—it’s a storm, a Ganga-Jamuna of emotions, blending yet distinct, merging yet never losing themselves. And Kashmir? Ah, Kashmir! It’s not just a setting; it’s poetry wrapped in tragedy, woven into the very fabric of this story.

Bhavini, as expected, delivers perfection—every shared glance, every whispered promise, every stolen moment between them lingers like the scent of winter air in the valley.

But here’s the real kicker: Just when you think you know where your heart lies, just when you’ve poured all your empathy into Iram… Bhavini pulls the rug right out from under you. And Atharva? Janab Kaul? You’ll want to reach through the pages and just hold him.

I won’t tell you more. No spoilers, no hints. Just dive in. Let it ruin you. Let it own you. And then, let’s cry about it together.

WHY GOD WHY????
I thought we had a deal of ending the series with three books! Wdym that their story still continues?
Wdym that our FMC behaved like every other FMC out there and put herself in danger despite of MMC saying not to.
Wdym I became so angry at the FMC towards the end that I almost threw my kindle on the floor *sorry kindle emotions mein beh gayi*
Why isn't this series ending now? What all types of twists are remaining in the life of Atharva and Iram?
I'm tired.
As much as I enjoyed the first 50% of this book, I dreaded reading the second half. Read just to get over with it.
The 3.5 / 5 that I am giving this book is only because of the first half, not even going to try and rate the second half.
Also how are they always in the middle of a terrorist attack?! Like every single time?!
I'm done (that's why I don't believe in series books)
*cries in a corner*

I've truly enjoyed this series, especially the first book - it was compelling, fresh, and emotionally engaging. The second book, while still good, began to feel a bit drawn out by the end, with the dynamic between the protagonists starting to stagnate.

Unfortunately, Beyond This Heaven didn’t live up to my expectations. The pacing is noticeably slow, with repetitive passages that I found myself skimming in search of substance. But what truly disappointed me was the direction Iram’s character took in this book.

The revelation that she was brought from Pakistan as a political pawn, and that the people she believed to be her parents were not her biological family, had the potential for rich emotional depth and exploration. I understand and empathize with the existential need to uncover one's origins — the pull to understand where we come from is universal and profoundly human. However, the way this journey was handled felt unconvincing and, at times, reckless.

Iram, once portrayed as an intelligent and grounded woman, makes a series of irrational decisions that repeatedly put her, and her unborn childen in danger. It’s frustrating to watch her abandon all logic, especially when she has a deeply supportive partner in Atharva. Her actions felt inconsistent with the character we came to know and respect in earlier books.

At this point, I can’t help but feel it’s being prolonged more for momentum than meaningful development. I sincerely hope the fourth book brings clarity, emotional resolution, and a thoughtful conclusion to Iram and Atharva’s story - one that does justice to their journey and to the readers who have stayed with them

PS - Not taking away from the Author on her extensive research on geo-politics and all things related to Kashmir. Impressive.

From minefields to meadows to matrimony, Iram and Atharva’s journey has never been easy. Each time Kashmir stood at the edge of upheaval, they met and clashed. The prologue both echoes and honors this enduring pattern. Once again, Kashmir teeters on the cusp of chaos, and once again, a clash between Iram and Atharva feels inevitable, like history repeating itself. In Kashmir and their lives' paradise, the past continues to haunt the present.

But every time they parted, it was as though the world had conspired against them, brief meetings, stolen moments, unfinished stories. This time, though, they had stayed. They had belonged in Beyond this Heaven by Bhavini K Desai.

From walking along the frozen lakes of Ladakh, to sharing an umbrella beneath a lamppost in rainy London, to walking barefoot on the shores of Mumbai with the waves leaping over their feet, they travelled far, shaping to each other like water in new forms.

As their love deepened, so did their understanding, becoming attuned to each other’s ever-evolving selves. But in moments of crisis, they each retreated to old, familiar patterns. Iram, similar to the self-imposed exile of her teenage self after the loss of her parents, withdrew, isolating as a means of survival and self-protection. Atharva, in contrast, shied away from confrontation and conversations, just as he once had with his mother, unable to reconcile the pedestal he’d placed the women of his life on.

But while Atharva never sought out his mother again, believing her actions selfish and unforgivable, he will seek out the mother of his child, the women he loved, even if he sees echoes of the same selfishness and irrationality in her actions. Because with Iram, there is no true parting. Their story, like the excerpt from Heaven Series 4.0, comes full circle, from a handcart to a chestnut seller’s stall, their destinies have always, inevitably, been entwined.

Bhavini weaves an emotional masterpiece that lingers long after you’ve turned the last page. You don’t just read about the characters, you live with them, you grow with them. Her portrayal makes them feel achingly real, beautifully flawed, and deeply human. It’s poetry in motion.

Beyond This Heaven isn’t just a book—it’s an experience that takes you through love, heartbreak, politics, and the raw emotions of Atharva and Iram in ways I couldn’t have imagined.

I still remember buying a Kindle subscription just before the launch of this book earlier this year—that’s how desperately I was waiting for it. And it did not disappoint for even a second. From page one, I was pulled into the stormy yet beautiful world of Kashmir, where paradise and pain live side by side. Atharva’s dynamic personality and Iram’s strength, patience, and vulnerability are written with such depth that they feel alive—too real to simply call “characters.”

I even texted Bhavini on Instagram while reading page 572 because I was completely floored by the biggest reveal of the book. The shock, the twist, the way it hit me—I could never have guessed it. That moment was pure Bhavini-brain genius, and it’s etched in my memory as one of the best twists I’ve ever read.

What makes this series so powerful is the way small details carry huge emotions—gestures, choices, words that stay long after the chapter ends. And in this installment, the balance of politics, intimacy, family, and heartbreak felt even more raw and compelling.

This book has become my safe space. Whenever life feels overwhelming, I find myself running back to Atharva and Iram’s world for comfort, escape, and strength. It’s more than fiction—it’s a place I can always return to.

Honestly, I cannot wait for Circle of Exile (Heaven #4) this Diwali. I’m counting down the days until I can lose myself in this world again.

Thank you, Bhavini, for giving us a story that heals and breaks us in equal measure.

I was okay savouring my way through book 1-2 and even 3. Now I sit here desolate and whenever I get the urge to read something I realize I cant just dive back in to this world. I was honestly fine with what happened while I was reading… but now its hitting bad
send help😭😭😭

On another note, the experiences and feels this series gave me will never be topped again. Wth am I supposed to do 😔
I’m also severely distraught over Baby Girl Kaul. And Yamma. And Iram. And Atharva. And Yathaarth.
Can’t stop thinking about how Yamma died not knowing Atharva was coming to her and that she was worth it. Countless times that her son and husband made her feel like she wasn’t.
Atharva didn’t want to have to go through the pain of giving away his daughter. And he had to anyway.
Iram feeling out of sorts in her own world, in her own existence. And she wasn’t given enough grace for it.

The way they parted.. there’s parallels to the story Atharva told her near the waterfall by his grandparents house.
“…The king, enraged and hurt, couldn't take it.
After all these years, that she still needed to go away from him to her old life. He couldn't accept it…”

This is all I can string together right now. One day when I love it less maybe I’ll be able to talk more about it then.

Beyond This Heaven by Bhavini Desai completely stole my heart. From the very first page, I was immersed in a world so beautifully crafted that I never wanted to leave. The writing is poetic yet powerful, effortlessly pulling me into the emotions of the characters. Every joy, every sorrow, every moment of longing felt incredibly real—almost as if I were experiencing it myself. The depth of the storytelling and the sheer brilliance of the emanations made this book unforgettable. I’ve devoured every part of this series, and now I’m counting down the days until the fourth one arrives.
Atharva and Iram are two characters that I think I would remember for years to come! They hold my heart ❤️
Bhavini has a way of making words feel like magic, and I know the next installment will be just as breathtaking!

This book and the ongoing series have opened my half opened eyes to why Kashmir is such a geopolitical issue in reality.
Atharva and Iram are such amazingly written characters with so many shades. The depth and detail are so nicely built that I couldn't even put the phone down until I read all the three books.

I really hope the 4th book gives some logical reasoning behind Iram's irrational decisions unlike the unsatisfactory reasoning given in the 3rd book. And hopefully Iram doesn't turn out to be like other dumb fmcs after giving her such a promising personality.

Beyond This Heaven is the best post-marriage romance I’ve read so far. New secrets keep surfacing, Iram falls from the pedestal Atharva had placed her on, and we see him in his most raw, vulnerable form. The ending—hopeful yet heartbreaking—left me needing the next book right now.
