I am a marketing executive with over seven years of experience in the advertising and marketing industry. I have helped articulate the value propositions for a wide array of products – from birth control to checking accounts. If my career has taught me one thing it is the importance of crafting a story, a skill I hope I have translated successfully into my debut novel Tentyrian Legacy!

I graduated from Wake Forest University in 2007 with a B.A. in English. While my career led me into advertising, my passion for literature was one I continued to nurture as an avid reader. That passion began at the age of 12 when I ordered my first batch of romance novels online. With titles by Catherine Coulter and Nora Roberts, I hid my books, embarrassed at their lack of age appropriateness and scholarly pedigree. However, it was those books that helped shape my teen years by offering an escape to the awkward time of adolescence.

In college, I specialized in Victorian literature and well-worn copies of Jane Eyre and Emma were never far from reach. However, teen romance favorites like the Twilight series also stacked the shelves. In creating Tentyrian Legacy, I sought to write a story for my own enjoyment and one that combined the elements I appreciate in a good book—romance, an evil plot that must be foiled, and vampires.

I grew up in New Canaan, CT and I now live in Pound Ridge, NY with my husband Jonathan and son Jack.

Tentyrian Legacy is one of the more enjoyable books I've read in months and is a stand-out for 2014's supernatural reading list along with Time of Death and the latest Blackthorn novel. It's a book I'm going to go on forums to recommend and talk about with my fellow posters.

That's how much I like it. Indeed, it's interesting, I usually plow through books in a single day but I had to mull through the Tentyrian Legacy over the course of a few weeks because I wanted to savor the book. It's not J.R.R Tolkien or even Interview with a Vampire but it's in the general vicinity of the latter and that's pretty high praise coming from me.

Tentyrian Legacy is a novel about two distinct time periods colliding. The first is the lifespan of schizophrenic teenager Arianna Parker and the second is the vampire covens ruling the ancient Egyptian city of Tentyris. How these two groups coincide does not become apparent for nearly half the book but when they do, the plot becomes a tale of revenge and redemption spanning two thousand years.

I don't want to gush over the book for the entire review but since I spend a lot of time tearing other books down, I should take the time to say what a book does right when it happens. Arianna is an incredibly likable character. Not since Sookie Stackhouse have I managed to bond with a character so completely. I sympathized with her isolation, her distance from other people, and her helplessness in the face of a loveless family. Watching her grow out of this was entertaining even before the introduction of the vampirism element.

The Tentyrians are also a great bunch of "new" vampires. They have some small similarity to Anne Rice's Akasha but are distinctly their own. Elise Walters doesn't ape Stokers or Rice's undead but creates her own rules. There are born vampires, turned vampires, human servants, those with special powers, and families all forming a complex hierarchy based on the Greek Zodiac. Watching how their society functions and disintegrates is a fascinating read.

One of the things I hate about recent vampire fiction is the derivative nature of most stories. Everyone needs to add something to their fiction. It doesn't need to be much, but you have to at least try. Elise Walters creates vampires I haven't seen before. That, alone, is deserving of kudos. The world-building is something she's put a lot of effort into and I found the societal structure of the undead to be believable. There's even an artistic genealogical map at the beginning of the book.

There's some elements which hardcore vampire fans might question. The Tentyrians begin as a collection of almost too-good-to-be-true immortals. They only feed from their willing worshipers, maintain a strict moral code, have technology higher than regular mortals, and are seemingly perfect. Elise Walters nicely subverts this first impression and illustrates the dark side of their society. While I tend to prefer my vampires as evil monsters, tragic at best, this is one of those rare occasions I make an exception. There's more than enough evil later on, anyway.

The supporting cast in Tentyrian Legacy is excellent. We get to meet a wide variety of characters, good and evil, who all have expansive backstories as well as memorable personalities. I especially liked the characters of Raad and Laura. Sadly, I wasn't too fond of love-interest Maximos. Millionaire vampire playboy with a heart of gold is something I've seen many times before. Given the originality of heroine Arianna, I felt Else Walters could have done better. Eventually, I bought the romance but not until after cheering her attempts to resist his controlling personality.

The villains of Tentyrian Legacy are an eccentric cast of evil-doers with grandiose plans a little too similar to the aforementioned Akashas but which they go about in a far more subtle manner. I don't think their genocidal plans for humanity were necessary, really, because they're delightfully wicked without such a over-the-top goal. I love it when vampires play puppeteer and have big screwed up family dynamics.

In conclusion, if you hadn't picked it up from my thoroughly gushing review, I recommend anyone who enjoys vampire fiction to purchase this. How much do I like this book? I got a free copy from a friend but I chose to buy the Kindle version anyway and after finishing it, am purchasing the hardcover copy.

Definitely a new take on the origin of vampires, but that is about the only original thing in the book. Book revolves around two insanely wealthy people who are, of course, described as being SO attractive and then, of course, fall instantly in love. The ending was rushed and the beginning felt like it droned on and on.

Um um um um um....I have no words for this book. I just Freaky love it!!!! Romance, Egypt, Vampire, you know just some things to make an awesome book with.

Arianna has just graduated from Harvard! A very good school indeed. Now in this new world, her gifts will bring great things and some trouble as well. She can hear many voices and read minds. A gift that I would love to have for when I need it, otherwise I wouldn't want to know every little thing a person is thinking. But Arianna can't exactly just chuck this gift out the window, so she learns her gift to make it work for her.

In the mean time, the Dark Coven wants her. Before they can, a mystery man appears! A lovely guy named Maximos. He is gorgeous in every way! He is also a Tentyrian and has to somehow get Arianna to believe him about her being one as well.

Will she end up traveling to do what is needed to survive and protect everything? Or maybe Arianna will ignore everything, and let them deal with things themselves. Well as you can probably tell, nothing is ever that simple. If it was, I wouldn't even give this book a review.

So Arianna decided to follow her instincts. Love Maximos. Fight to win and protect the legacy. And boy is she killer at it all! Has to be one of the best vamp chicks I have ever read about! Seriously amazing! I do love me a good vampire book and I will be picky, seeing as I've read many vampire books. But this one brought me a new legacy, new vampire titles, new love and the perfect twists and turns.

I really wish there was another book after this. I would just dive in and lose myself into the book. This was just simply amazing and left me lost for words and I'm still living in the pages even though its all done and read.

I give this book 5 stars!

I am a big fan of science fiction and fantasy novels, and as a commuter with time to read each day I go through dozens of books in this genre each year. This debut novel from Elise Walters is one of my favorite reads in past couple of years. I finished this fresh take on a familiar vampire story in just a few days and was left wanting more. I am looking forward to the follow up and can't wait to see what adventures Arianna Parker gets into next. Highly recommended.

I wanted to like it more, it had a lot of potential in the beginning. But for all the backstory it ended very abruptly and was extremely anti-climactic. I am fairly certain it was also not edited well as I found a few typos, one within the first few pages.
The love interest also seemed to come out of nothingness, and then went full HBO for no plot forwarding reason whatsoever.
With all that being said, I would still definitely read a sequel if there was one. Hopefully it would have a better "denouement" and was more focused on story and less focused on detailed sexual and clothing descriptions (especially now that i think about it, I think the longest descriptions were about outfits or the lack thereof....)

Tentyrian Legacy

I received a free copy, through Lovers of Paranormal, in exchange for a review.

Tentyris was a place, in the beginning of time, deep in Egypt, ruled by the Council of the Zodiac. Both humans and Tentyrians lived side by side, a beautiful symbiotic relationship. But, there was a coup, within the Council, destroying what they were and killing most of the Council members. The legend became twisted through time, of blood thirsty vampires and nothing more was thought of it...until she came to her powers. Arianna had always known she was different, but how different was tested on her 25th birthday, when the change happened. Being a descendent of the Tentyrians and the possible savior was something that Maximos, over the centuries will have to find out and help her to develop her powers...to rid the world of the evil ones that had first destroyed everything that Maximos knew and loved.

'Within a flash, I'm no longer aware of what’s happening outside my body. Instead, I'm acutely aware of what's happening within. I'm standing inside the pristine white walls of my mind, the safe place I go to in meditation. I appear as I always do in my safe place, in a white simple tank dress with hair loose, But this time, I'm not alone. I see Maximos. I know that I am not imagining him...He is actually standing there as if it's real life, No one has ever breached my mind or my dreams before. But there he is, standing with his hands clasped behind his back like the devil himself. Or a vampire. His jaw is locked tight, and his eyes are glowing like sapphires.'

Pretty excited about this series. It's a fun & different take on the vampire legend and the origins. The characters are well developed and you really feel for the main character Arianna and her upbringing. It'll be interesting to see how this story evolves!

Looking for a new book to sink your fangs into? Look no further than Elise Walter’s debut novel, Tentyrian Legacy.

Tentyrian Legacy begins with the tale of an ancient Egyptian culture that flourished long ago. The people, referred to as Tentyrians, were a highly civilized and advanced race that were ruled by the Council of the Zodiac.

They were all young, beautiful, gifted beings that fed off the blood of willing humans. However, the golden age for Tentyrians was destroyed by jealously and betrayal, which led to the downfall of Tentyris, along with near genocide of the Tentyrian people. Today, Tentyrians are all but forgotten. All that remains are twisted memories of bloodthirsty vampires and the zodiac.

Arianna Parker doesn’t believe in myths and legends. She’s concerned with becoming a successful NYC business woman while hiding her strange gift; she has the ability to hear other people’s thoughts. All too soon, Arianna is swept up into an ancient feud between the last remaining Tentyrians. Could she be the salvation, or destruction for the Tentyrian race?

Tentyrian Legacy is a fast paced novel great for young adult supernatural readers. The story flashes back and forth between ancient Egypt and modern day. The complex character development and vivid plot easily draws the reader in, making them crave more.

Having just finished this book, my emotions are on high. Who doesn't love a good romance novel? Who doesn't love a good vampire novel? Who doesn't love both?

You'll get that in Tentyrian Legacy.

It's simply a badass story.

Spanning the centuries, the Tentyrians (vampires), having seen all the world's wars and great moments are on a quest to stop their former Brothers at arms, now dubbed the Dark Coven.

When Arianna is thrown into this world after graduating from Harvard, her troubling gifts (a mind that hears many voices and later the ability to read people's minds) lead her to meet the alluring and Greek-like-god-figure Maximos.

He's a Tentyrian and is determined to get her to realize she is one too before the Dark Coven can get their hands on her.

It's a tale stapled throughout history, filled with blood, power, and romance, that is sure to excite fans of vampire lore, historical buffs, and romance novel enthusiasts alike.

As a fellow lover of vampires, and vampire lore, my thirst was greatly sated. Looking forward to more adventures from Maximos and Arianna and their Tentyrian Brotherhood. Definitely look forward to more from Mrs. Elise Walters. For a debut novel, this has immense bite.

So, this one will be hard to review. Since I was having a hard time I decided to take a break before the review and see how I felt later. I totally forgot the story, that is not a good sign. I had to read the description to remember.

Yes, we need some background for the story but I think I would have preferred to get the background (a shorter version) and move forward. I didn't like the back and forth, it was too much. I also don't like when there is so much power, the race (or Alpha, or whatever) is all that and then ends up almost getting wiped out (or beaten) way to easy.

I think the romance was suppose to be a build up of sexual tension with Maximos and Arianna, but it came off as angst then it was rushed at the end. The story was just getting good when it ended. I know we have to have an intro to get some foundation for the characters, plot and world building but I don't like to read a book and the last 20% is when the story gets good. There has to be some balance there.

I'm on the fence on continuing the series because the glimpse of the next lead characters seems like a fun lot.

I really, really enjoyed this book! It had wonderful world building, amazing characters and plot, romance, vampires, history...I loved it! It was so unique. The first part of the book is alternating between the past (53 BC, Egypt) and the modern day. This set up the back story and world building and I thought it was brilliant. Then the next parts are only modern time but some years later. So Ari, the main character, is around 25 and that were things get interesting!! And let's not forget the romance. I love Ari and Maximos together, so perfect, sigh... Well anyways I really liked their relationship and how it was developed. Loved it!! Also Ari's relationship with Raad her personal doctor and you can see how she's the daughter he never had and their friendship felt very genuine and a great part of the story. So in the end, this is a great book! The only thing is I wished the first part of the book went faster (I can be impatient) cause I just wanted to get to the story!! 4.5 stars!!

*I received this book from Lovers of Paranormal in exchange for an honest review*
I loved the fresh new take on vampires. These originated in Greece, migrated to Ancient Egypt and are based on the Zodiac. Arianna, who after years of isolation and being misdiagnosed as a schizophrenic, finds out that she is the descendant of the ancient queen and is a vampire, soon to go through the change and become a full-fledged vampire and grow into her powers while gaining more. I loved the back and forth between the present day and the past and think that it was executed well and very easy to follow. Although in the beginning, these vampires seemed too good to be true, they only feed from willing hosts and their society was too peaceful, Ms. Walters balanced it out when she introduced the villains. Who doesn't love a good villain? Power hungry and destructive, willing to wipe out any and all who oppose them. I would definitely recommend this book and can't wait for the next installment.

I have to say, I don't typically leave reviews. But this book was really very good. I was pleasantly surprised just how much I enjoyed this book. I first got this book with Lit-Cube. I was very iffy about it because it was a vampire book and all the Twilight books wore me out with vampire books. This is no ordinary Vampire book. This is a book about Tentyrians. I'm not going to go into detail about the book and what it's about. Just read it and give it a chance. The only thing I have to say is I wish the author would have put some where at the beginning of each chapter stating which character we would be following. But overall it was good. I've read that there should be 4 books total for The Tentyrian Legacy series, and I'm super excited to read them all!

Just finished reading this and all I can say is what?! Why is it over?
I really enjoyed the mythology around Elise Walters' Vampires. They weaving between modern day and ancient Egypt had me hooked from the start since I share her love of all things Egypt.

Her main character, Arianna is the strong female character you want to read. She's a little Sookie Stackhouse, A little bit Bella Swan, but with a lot more Katniss Everdeen. Ari is a survivor, a mind reader, and one brave new vampire.

My only criticism is that there isn't more! I want to know what happens next in Ari's adventures!

I received this book in exchange for an honest review LoP.

This one was hard for me. I found the concept refreshing. Vampires based on the zodiac is quite a different spin. I loved Ari and Max. Here comes the reason for my two stars. There was way to much time jumping for me especially at the beginning of the book. There was also to many characters telling the story and it made it choppy at times and I found that I was having to make myself read it. Then it got really good about three quarters of the book through and then it just ended. Thank you for sharing and I do look forward to the other Luminaries' stories

The Vampires again - different idea of what makes a vampire and what they are capable of.

Starts with the history of vampires, goes on to tell how there are good and bad vampires and of their fights to wipe the others out. Goes on to include a modern woman who grew up thinking she had a mental problem and finds out that she is one of the "good" vampires and maybe their leader.

I liked the idea of how the story starts but some of the end of the book just seems like "lets throw some fighting, some romance and some other stuff" together and see what happens.

Another series.

I am usually not a vampire novel reader but was interested in this book because of its Egyptian roots & I love Ancient Egypt. This may be a first novel by Elise Walters, but it had better not be her last. It is intriguing combining Egypt, USA, mystery, intrigue, vampires, romance, Greece into a book that holds your interest throughout. Thank you Goodreads for choosing me as a winner for this book and thank you Elise for writing it

I thought this was a fun book. It was a slightly different take on Vampires. I like Egyptian stuff so it was cool that was entwined in it. At first I wasn't sure if this was supposed to be a single book or not. I'm thinking there will be more but not sure. I thought the idea and storyline was good. Some parts of it annoyed me but I got into it more once I got farther in the book. I did like the two main characters.
