A CATASTROPHE OF BIBLICAL PROPORTIONS 35,000 YEARS IN THE MAKING.
THE WORLD WE KNOW IS ON THE VERGE OF DESTRUCTION ...
THERE IS NO ESCAPE. OR IS THERE?

The discovery and excavation of a 35,000 year old city hidden deep within the Transantarctic Mountains releases a pandemic across the globe. Within a few weeks 5 million are dead and another 10 million are about to die. Billions more are certain to die within weeks.

But, what kind of disease only affects members of a certain ethnic group?

Some world leaders are convinced this is a genetic bioweapon, developed and deployed against them for the sole purpose of ethnic cleansing. They convince their followers that enemy governments are behind this and join forces to go to war. The human race stands on the brink of extinction.

The world has slipped into economic and political chaos, stock markets have crashed and shut down, and lawlessness is on the rise. Radical political and ethnic solutions are considered and implemented. Within a matter of days the world will descend into open warfare, more than half of the entire world population will be annihilated on the battlefield of Armageddon. Nuclear warheads and long range missiles have been aimed, military forces have been mobilized ... ready to march.
There are those who want this to happen. “Let it run its course.” “Don’t try to stop it, you can’t stop it. “ “This will help us get rid of old foes.”

Only a handful of people may be able to stop this catastrophe. Will they be able to do it? Will they be allowed to do it? Do they have enough time?

Does anyone besides Sarah Rossler remember the dire warning of the 10th Cycle that our cycle’s final, civilization-ending catastrophe could be triggered by war?

GENETIC BULLETS is a full-length novel, a stimulating medical thriller about genetic engineering human persistence and resolution in the face of destruction. This adventure is a follow up of Ninth Cycle Antarctica and takes readers back into the Mysteries of the Rossler Foundation which began with JC Ryan’s The Tenth Cycle and Ninth Cycle Antarctica

GENETIC BULLETS is Book 3 in the Rossler Foundation Series and is a follow-up of NINTH CYCLE ANTARCTICA.

Genetic Bullets
A Rossler Foundation Mystery, Book 3
By: JC Ryan
Narrated by: William Andre Gensburger
Series: Rossler Foundation Mystery Thrillers, Book 3
This is an AUDIBLE book I requested and the review is voluntary.
This is a difficult book to review. I think the book might be pretty good but it was soooo difficult to listen to and concentrate on due to the extremely poor narration. There was constant coughing, throat clearing and other noises. At one point the narrator coughs, and repeats the whole sentence. It was just so irritating to listen to the whole way through. The voices, inflections, and timing was off also. I wanted to reach through the tablet and say, "Let me do it!".
This book had so many good reviews and the idea sounded great, I had even bought the book, but when the chance came for a free audible book came, I thought wow, why not?
Just to be fair to the author, I will READ this book at some time and review it separately from the audible book. Plus this is book 3, it might make a difference to read books 1 and 2 first. I don't know. I really, really wanted to enjoy this book. It was my kind of book.
I will watch from now on, I don't want to hear this narrator again, ever! Sorry!

Anyone who loves a good thriller is probably already familiar with writer JC Ryan and his Rossler Foundation Series. I have to admit, Genetic Bullets is my formal introduction to the series and the author, and while I may now need to read the first two books, I have no regrets about reading this treat first.

As a fan of thriller novels myself, I was instantly hooked with the plot of Genetic Bullets. It probably has to do with the fact that this is already the third book, but still, a novel that starts immediately into action within the first few pages shows good promise. Case in point, Genetic Bullets opens with the team already in the middle of an expedition that led to the discovery of a 35,000-year old city that holds deadly secrets.

One of the best elements in Genetic Bullets for me is the book’s conflict—the world facing an apocalypse because of a virus that infects and kills people within weeks. With millions already dead, it’s up to the Rossler Foundation to not only find a way to deal with the imminent plague, but also to somehow stop political unrest among nations worldwide. The entire plot screams thriller, and readers will not be able to resist finishing the book in only a few hours.

Apart from the gripping plot, the characters are also well-established. Personally, I like an author that introduces the characters well but also trusts the readers enough to figure some things out for themselves. Ryan was able to do that with the characters in Genetic Bullets, and I’m fairly certain that he offered the same treatment in the previous books in the series.

Overall, Genetic Bullets was a heart-stopping delight to read.

A disease that kills everyone who gets sick is something that concerns everyone. To have one that only kills people with one genetic background spells a different type of disaster. I haven't read a book like this before and it's both horrifying and utterly captivating.

Beautifully written the stress and distress felt by the characters comes through loud and clear. A fantastic story that should not be missed.

The narration is good but not great. A times it's hard to tell who is talking and there are mistakes that aren't edited out, while these were all small there were a couple dozen of them. The deliver did a good job of conveying emotion and the tension in the book.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher in exchange for an honest review.

So far, this is my favorite book in the Rossler Foundation. There's so much that happens that there's very little time for romance, although he manages to work in some, much to my disgust. The man cannot write love stories. Each lovey-dovey interaction that did occur caused serious eye-rolling. It was awful.
The rest of the book was really good, except Ryan still has an issue with glossing over things and jumping ahead in the future when things should be flushed out in detail.
The end of the book was abrupt and confusing. There's a man in a hazmat suit. I do not understand who he is. And the book ends like any other chapter ends. I understand that the next book in the series will continue the story, but why end the book if you're just going to continue the series that way. That's a major pet peeve of mine.

***** What Adventure/Thriller Novels SHOULD BE!

This is Ryan's third novel of the adventures of the principals of the "Rossler Foundation", and like the two previous, it is (a ***) an enviable product of imaginative, masterful writing. Once again, Ryan begins with a crypto-scientific theory that, in the recent decades, a nation had been researching genetic factors to weaken opponents. He ties in some of the current U.S. conspiracy theories, and uses this point to leap into his complex story-line. As in previous episodes, the story contains almost constant action, which shifts back and forth between political, ethnic, geopolitical, military, archeological and intelligence confrontations.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AS BOTH AN INDIVIDUAL BOOK AND AS A SERIES!

ANOTHER AWESOME, HEART STOPPING READ!!

I just couldn't put this book down!! Things have definitely gone south, from start to finish! The headway on the discoveries, come to a raging stop!! As an unknown virus and contaminated workers are sent home, before the consequences of the virus is found! The virus is jumping from them and their home country plans their revenge. The virus is sweeping the world and people are dying in masses!! The Rossler Foundation people are working night and day, to find a cure!
Massive bombings, even in the United States, cause chaos.
Clear your schedule, because you won't want to put this book down!!
I'm off to read the next book!! Ta Ta for now!!

This series continues to improve even when that does not seem possible... International tensions, rivalries, and hatreds factor into volatile situations and threaten to erupt into an encompassing nuclear holocaust....Even as struggles to find a cure and vaccine for a deadly plague inch closer to fulfillment, ageless hatreds fan the flames that threaten destruction of the world... A series that has totally hooked me and one I will continue binge reading... It is not one however that will engender renewed hopes for humanity's reasonableness and compassion amidst fanaticism..

I was entirely captivated by the idea of a hidden valley in Antarctica where plants and trees survived and thrived in an almost tropical climate. That out of such a paradise would come disease and death, wreaking havoc on parts of an unsuspecting world, that your ethnicity would determine if you lived or died... and that race to find a way to stop it. An exciting medico-scientific-archaeological thriller, fast paced, an edge of the seat read!

Fantastic

I’d read this earlier, and thanks to my lousy memory re-read it and enjoyed it more the second time. I know this is fiction, but I wish it weren’t so I could and a trip to Antarctica to my Bucket List.
Now it’s on to Book 4 in the series.

Genetic Bullets

An excellent read! I hope that J. C. Ryan keeps on giving us more books like this. I am hoping for a sequel to this book. This series is following what is going on in the world today. His investigation of world happenings is spot on. Keep up the great work.

Not worth the time

Slow paced and repetitive. Not worth the time or money. Lacks any basis in credibility both historically and politically. No.

If you are considering buying and/or reading this book, I will assume that you are familiar with the Rossler Foundation Series. If you are not, start with the first book in the series or this 3rd entry will not work for you as a stand-alone.
That said, I found myself struggling to consider this book an equal to its two predecessors in the series. I just couldn't get there. The plot is not new, that is, an archeological find unleashes an ancient killer virus, with the twist that the virus has not only never been seen before, but it is 100% fatal to those of Semitic ancestry, that is, Jews and Arabs. Since one of the rotating "dig" crews consisted of properly vetted experienced Arab diggers, the s**t hits the fan when, with the existence of the virus not yet known, that crew rotates back to their homes in the Middle East. When the Rosslerites learn that all of the diggers are dead, and discover that the killer is a virus and, in fact, not only are the diggers dead, but all of their families are as well. Soon projections show that the entire population of the Middle East is not only at risk, but at the current rate at which the infection is spreading, it will eclipse the death tolls of the Black Plague and the Spanish flu that broke out at the end of WWI. Essentially, all Arabs will be dead within something like 14 weeks. The search to find a cure or vaccine leads to discovering that it is some very old, defunct "junk DNA" among the Semitic peoples that is what makes them uniquely vulnerable to this virus.
Of course, science wins out but that never stops a true devotee of Radical Islam. One Imam declares jihad on the West and claims that he is the prophesied "Twelfth Imam" or savior come to lead his people in conquering the world. From there it all becomes rather predictable and with his usual aplomb, Ryan delivers a good tale with twists and turns, ultimately leading to the set-up of the sequel.
Along the way, he deepens the readers' knowledge of the "regulars" in the story and develops many characters well and credibly. I found that, to my annoyance, his depiction of the jihadist radical Imam to be so utterly stereotypical, that it was close to being offensive.
To be fair, this volume does move along the story of the Rossler Foundation as it takes its place in the world. I can only hope that the next entry lives up to the expectations this reviewer had based upon the excellence of the first two volumes.
I have to admit, it is a necessary read in order to keep up with the series, but I hold that Ryan is a much more creative and competent writer than this book shows him to be.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

When I initially signed up to review this book, I did not realize that it was the third in the series. An email from the author alerted me to this fact, although I was assured that this book could be read as a stand alone novel. I must admit, I don't entirely agree with that assessment, through out the book there are numerous references back to the previous books, while the author does do a fantastic job of filling in the information from the previous books, I was left feeling as though I was missing something by not reading the first two books.

As for the story line, I felt that it started off a bit slow as the author laid the foundation and cleaned up the "problem" from the first 2 books (another reason why I feel the books should be read in order, the action certainly carried over from books 1 and 2 into book 3), but once the action gained momentum, it moved along and I had a difficult time putting it down, I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next.

WOW - what a ride!

I was a little upset at first because every time I thought I had found a little suspense, I got the answer right away! By the time I realized the book was a thriller, it was too late the car I was riding in,on this rollercoaster of a book, was already taking me through loops and whipping me around corners, so I just kept right on turning pages! Whew what a read! I don't know about any one else but when I read a good book I see the"movie scenes" in my mind. I was so busy reading I didn't even have actors picked for any of the characters!

Fast paced action thriller but definitely not what I would call a mystery novel. Mr. Ryan has a tendency to broadcast his plot twists that minimize the suspense.
The science, action and intrigue are well written but as with the previous novels I feel the romances fall flat. Since we're here for the action that's not a major concern. I feel that the author has a greater belief in human nature than I do since the political and civil upheaval of an event like this would likely be much more devastating than what Mr. Ryan portrays. That does not mean that there is no unrest here, just not as much as I would expect.
