4.5/5 !!!!!
I only took half a star off for the ending and I’ll explain why

Raine: her character really tugged at my heart strings and I am actually so fucking proud of her not choosing to go back to Aiden and stay with Nyx. She deserved to be chosen without questions asked or accusations. Her standing her ground was sooo refreshing to see!

Nyx: I am in love with him. Very much the exact definition of gentle giant ( for raine and meadow only ). He loved raine with out asking anything from her besides simply being herself. He never took anything her alpha said as anything more than lies, and loved her wholly. Wish I saw them have one more child 🥹🤲🏼🥹🤲🏼🥹🤲🏼

Aiden: …..okay I was hype in the beginning but after he kept her a secret I was like …bbg I think it’s time to get the hint. I was kinda assuming his elders knew but didn’t like her due to her dad deflecting. But nope they hold fated mate bonds as law. He didn’t really grow up tbh - he only went after raine because it was the right thing to do not because he was truly in love with her. But…..him and Delilah’s didn’t really sit well with me at all. Tbh it made me feel kinda icky - this is where I took half star off.

Delilah : loved her in the beginning but near the end her and Aiden’s “friendship “ was kinda unsettling. It was pulled outta left field and felt just off and tacky. Idk I would have preferred him having another like 3rd side character that ended up with him. You and your bestie fucking the same guy and getting pregnant by him is just…not it sorry. Aiden’s sudden change and kissing Delilah was just … off lol idk how to explain the feeling. - like where tf did this come from????

My overall thoughts :
I hate love triangles with a fucking passion. It was the only thing in this book I hated. But it did help grow Raine as a character so I’ll give it a pass.
If I were to re write the story - I’d remove Aiden all together and have nyx actually start out as a little meaner to her but to slowly open up and heal her scars from her previous pack. Again this stems from my hatred of love triangles.
I’m a Aiden and Delilah hater - idc argue with your mom

If u wanted to disappointed read it.

The beginning started out good, but I got really annoyed with the raine on how she handled everything. The whole mate thing is B.S. because if it was I would have fought tooth and nail for my partner. I'd smack him and say stop being stupid. I also hated the ending how Aiden ended up with deliah.... soo the whole mate thing is B.S. I really think raine should of ended up with aiden. Also if you take out the shifter part it just another basic drama miscommunication toupee. I'm mean come on what are they 12.

Raine was hated by almost everyone in the pack, not for anything that she did but for what her father did. He was the beta in the pack, he cheated his pack members out of money, and with that, he took off never to return leaving Raine to the mercy of the pack.
Raine was then sent to the Alpha King's ball where Aiden was supposed to meet all the different girls to see if one was his mate. At an encounter in the garden, Aiden and Raine meet and they discover they are fated mates. So for the rest of the time she is there, they are having steamy moments together, and Aiden is giving Raine hot and cold vibes because she caught him with another female and she eventually went home. At first, they were writing letters back and forward then she realized she was pregnant and she attempted to let him know however her alpha stopped the communication and then lied to Aiden ultimately getting him to reject Raine and the alpha sold Raine to the cruelest pack as a breeder. Once Aiden figured out that he messed up big time he tries to find out where Raine is and if he can win her back.
I enjoyed the story but Aiden was a tool, and while I am excited Raine finally had her happily ever after. Aiden had his happily ever after too but it's like you want more justice for Raine!

Short stop.

The overall plot is good but there are things missing that aren't ever explained. Also there was this massive build up to conflict that was resolved vaguely in a page or two stating an alliance was made. Then fast-forward in time. It just felt like there was a huge build up and a short stop. I wish there would have a been a more detailed ended rather than what felt like a synopsis of an ending. Disappointed is how I felt would characterize my feelings on the ending. I wish more time was allotted to the ending as the rest of the book as it seemed rushed. Excellent overall idea and plot though.

enjoyed.

Spoiler alert if you read this.

You know what was refreshing about this book is that when the FMC was repeatedly treated like crap and then rejected by her fated mate she didn’t go back to him when he came back.

She was like no, you treated me like shit and I fell for someone else who appreciated and trusted me and just because we are fated doesn’t mean you deserve to be with me.

I love that. There are way too many books where the FMC is treated like shit by the MMC and he comes back and she just goes back with him with little to not enough groveling.

This is a strange one.
Just come disjointed circumstances stitched together to make the poor h suffer more and more.
Glad the cruel guy everyone hates/fears turns out to be her savior - and is so sweet, tender to her.
But I was conflicted about her being already preggers by the loser - and how it is all resolved at the end.
Also, I dislike when the title is not about the mcs.

Happy ending for the rejector

Enjoyable rejected mate story but the angst was written lightly. Raine had a terrible life in her pack but what was mentioned of it and how it was written didn’t stir high emotion. Meeting Aiden, her fated mate, the drama while in his kingdom, and ensuing events that left to rejection because he’s a weak idiot, also was written with a light angsty touch. I am happy for Raine’s HEA but I am too petty to be happy that the mate who rejected her on false information also gets and HEA. Deep into the book I didn’t feel like he cared like he should, especially when he spoke of the baby she carried. He still didn’t believe the story of what happened for what felt like forever. I was bummed that the epilogue was about his HEA also. He deserved to have the peace treaty and to be a part of his child’s life but to get a new mate and Luna and with her best friend? Way too far fetched and undeserved.

This book was really good but I had to take two stars off for dealing with the love triangle by having insta love between the FMCs best friend and the FMCs fated mate. Absolutely gross, no girl code, no chemistry, ruined the book. 🤢

Also, there is absolutely no explanation as to why Nyx wanted to find a pregnant breeder to pass the baby off as his own? Is he infertile? No, they're trying for another baby at the end, so why???

It was ok, but there were just too many things that didn’t make sense to me.

For example, after she was rejected, WHY did she go back to her pack when she knew she’d be massively mistreated? Why not just… go literally anywhere else?

Also, how in the world do the “kings” not have accurate maps of pack boundaries?

These kind of things stacked up and just made me less invested in the story.

The plot itself was intriguing but a few things made this book very off putting to me.

The biggest issue I have is around Raine’s best friend having a child with the same man that Raine did. Just felt like this was unnecessarily added into the story. Would have rather seen Delilah end up with Wren or just seen Aiden find someone else - Rose perhaps?

For background, Raine (FMC) meets her fated mate Aiden at the beginning of the story. Aiden is the soon to be Alpha King of the North. Raine and her best friend Delilah attend a ball at the palace that’s supposed to be centered around Aiden finding a Luna. At this ball Raine and Aiden meet the first night and quickly realize they are fated mates. They spend most of the weekend having sex and sneaking off with each other. Aiden doesn’t claim Raine because he has to deal with pack business so Raine returns to her own pack. In the meantime, Delilah helps Raine right letters to Aiden multiple times a week. They have to be sneaky about sending these letters as their own pack Alpha hates Raine and abuses her. Raine finds out she is pregnant and her pack Alpha locks her up and fakes a letter to the king (Aiden) saying it’s not his baby and she is a fraud, etc. Aiden doesn’t question this and rejects Raine when she escapes to see him. Raine returns home to her back land in defeat and is sold to the King of the South to become a breeder. Once Aiden realizes that Raine may not have been lying he and Delilah go to the South to try to free Raine (they don’t realize she has since fallen in love with the King of the South, Nyx). All and all when Raine turns down Aiden we are supposed to believe he magically so now interested in Delilah - who is Raines best friend. It came out of no where and honestly was very off putting. Raine slept with Aiden and is pregnant with his baby and now she’s okay with him being with her best friend? I get she has moved on and is love with Nyx but the whole thing was weird. Delilah even ends up pregnant with Aiden’s child - so now they both have a kid with him. It was just too weird for me. I wanted Aiden to be happy but the entire dynamic just felt icky.

Also, there was absolutely no resolution or revenge on Raine’s former pack Alpha. This man abused her, tortured her, ruined her chance with Aiden by lying to him about the paternity of her child… not to mention he also sold her. There is no closure here. I thought surely this would get revisited but nope. Very disappointing.

An intriguing solution by Raine

This is book four, but the first one that I have read. The series are by various authors. It seems like the books might be readable without knowledge of the previous books. The blurb pulled me in to read this story. I enjoyed this book the most because it was not just the same rejection of a mate trope. This one truly showed the intelligence, strength and fierceness of two female characters: Raine, the lead female character, and Delilah, Raine’s BFF. These two young women were treated poorly by their Alpha Daniel. Raine suffered the most and was treated like a doormat. There is mental and physical abuse thrust upon Raine from her Alpha and pack, FYI for triggers. Delilah was always there somehow to help Raine like she had a sixth sense. Delilah was the only pack member who cared for Raine and that in itself was devastating coming from a large pack. The ending shook me and I was not sure how to feel. Before writing this review, I took time and thought about what the author gave us as a happy ending for all parties. I re-read the ending few chapters and realized that I was impressed by Raine’s solution for both the north and south packs. It was the best possible outcome that Raine could ever give and promote the happiness that she deserved. Raine was the one that suffered so much abuse. Raine deserved love, a mate who claimed her publicly, and respect that she should have had from childhood but did not due to parental loss. Read On!

Surprisingly good. I didn’t expect much from the title. The angst is good, and the fmc had growth. Problems - last 1/3 felt very rushed - I thought this was going to have to be a dual novel up until the last 20% of the book. Wrapped up in lightening speed. Didn’t love the resolution, it felt like the author painted the characters and storyline in a corner and the ending was the only resolution she could come up with. 3.5 stars.

I was bracing myself for a cliffhanger ending because there was so much conflict building up towards the end, and then it just resolved. Idk, the story was sooo good, until the end. I was fully expecting another book full of groveling and more drama (even though at that point I had a clear favorite and didn’t want her to be with the other guy, I still wanted him to try to win her back.) Bit of a let down

Better than most of this kind of trope.
She is from a pack that abuses her, and has abused her since her father, the beta, left.
She meets her mate, an alpha king, that is not evil but he’s weak.
She has to go back to her pack but she’s pregnant and the alpha, that hates her, tells her mate that he’s not the father and that she was already pregnant.
She is rejected and her alpha sells her as a breeder to an infamous alpha king.
This alpha king, even if he’s quite grumpy, is something else, and slowly they start bonding. He’s ready to be a father for her kid.
Not explained why he should want a kid that is not his own, whatever.
In the meantime the heroine bff manages to reach the mate who rejected her, and tells him that everything he was told was a lie, so the alpha decides to go and grab the heroine back.
But the heroine won’t have him. She understands that even if they’re mates, he doesn’t really love her and she can’t forget what he did, and btw, she’s already fallen for the hero, aka the alpha king who bought her.
So, I appreciated that for once the heroine doesn’t forgive and forget the idiot mate who rejected her, and that she fell in love with another man and decided that she wanted him and not her own mate.
It’s quite useless, though, the mate issue, if both in the end are happy with other people.
There’s no revenge that I would have liked a lot, because her alpha wasn’t punished and the mate had a happy ending.
But I think that this ending was ok for the heroine too because she managed to persuade both alpha kings that it was better to merge their packs and live in peace than to fight and cause devastation.
So she will stay friend with her mate who marries her bff, which I found quite weird, and she will be mated with the alpha king that bought her.
The child, a girl, will have both alpha males as father.
Well, it was not the usual cruel ending because everyone is happy in the end. There’s some loose ends.
We don’t know why the hero wanted a breeder and why he wanted to keep another male kid and keep it as his, we also don’t know why the heroines alpha hated her and why he wasn’t punished in the end.
And we don’t know why the heroine mate chose another woman as his Luna and why he wasn’t able to make his own decision since he’s well, an alpha king.
But the book is not that bad, it was interesting, not boring and I liked the hero more than her mate.

Why? Just why would you take a well-loved trope and twist it so badly that it ends in a complete trainwreck? No, it’s not refreshing. And no, it’s definitely not groundbreaking. Mates are mates — they don’t function the way these characters do in this book.

And the storytelling? Awful. The heroine (Raine) is shunned by everyone. Her alpha hates her so much that he literally ruins her life — and her chances with her first mate. The hero (Aiden) is a spineless mess with every issue imaginable: daddy issues, trust issues, tribal elder issues… you name it, he’s got it.

And then comes the third wheel — sorry, the second mate — Nyx. He’s tall, dark, brooding, and casually browsing for a pregnant breeder he can buy at half price. Charming.

I’m not even going to go over the full plot again. Just keep these bullet points in mind:

Aiden is Raine’s fated mate.

She gets pregnant by him.

He rejects her because he believes the manipulative, vindictive alpha who despises her.

She’s sold off as a breeder to Nyx.

She falls in love with Nyx and decides he’s her true mate.

Aiden tries to win her back while being engaged to a Luna-to-be… and simultaneously falls in love with Raine’s best friend.

Said best friend tries to reunite Raine and Aiden… while also falling for Aiden herself.

The book ends with Raine and Nyx raising Meadow — her daughter with Aiden — while Aiden dumps his Luna-to-be (again), knocks up Raine’s best friend, and marries her.

Welcome to Beverly Hills: Lycans Edition.

Cheers to me — for officially never picking up another book by this author.

Don’t treat it like a fated mate bond - like everyone else has said in the reviews, it starts out great and genuinely like Raine and Nyx together, but couldn’t they just have been the only storyline and not the disappointing writing as it goes on?????……

First impression: another book where it takes fucking forever to see another pov…….

I get the storyline of the alpha male rejecting his mate - I get it. But why in the fuck have that alpha end up with his rejected mate’s best friend?! I fucking hate that story line. The Resident did the same thing with Conrad and his wife’s best friend after the wife died.

I’m glad Raine ended up with someone who purposefully chose her and actually treated her like a goddamn goddess. Aiden, truly never believing his fated mate was his first mistake. Well actually still ignoring her and not giving her the time of day during their initial meet was also a big red flag. Saying “things are complicated” is the most bullshit excuse ever. He never gave a damn about her, no matter the bond, as he didn’t care to not keep out the arranged one from his bedroom when he had bonded with his mate the night before. Fucking asshole. Loved Delilah till she and Aiden started to have more of a thing together. Again, don’t give a damn that she begged him to go get his fated mate back, it’s the fact they turn that experience together into something of romance in the end that’s just shitty.

(It would actually be a 3-star because of the sex scenes alone. But that fucking trope at the end pissed me off.)

WTF wouldn’t you pair Delilah with Wren????

This book started out pretty good. I was really enjoying it. I definitely was thinking it was going to end up differently, though. I kept thinking that the author wasn't sure, either. I couldn't settle on anything.

I was about 60% in and still had no idea who Raine was going to end with, or if something were to happen where she ended up with both. Even to nearly the end, I still wasn't sure if she was going to be with both.
If she wasn't going to end up with Aiden, there shouldn't have been so much focus on him and his struggles to find her. Sure, have some, but not to that extent.
Then, if she wasn't going to end with Nyx, there shouldn't have been so much connection.

I think I would have given another star if all that confusion hadn't been there for me. There ultimately shouldn't have been do much with Aiden after she ended with Nyx.

It was a good story, but I don't think I will read this one again.

Rejected mate , but better than the usual trope…

This is not the average rejection story written for wattpad teens, and I say that without any snark. There really are hundreds of those kinds of stories there. This, however, has a very different feel to it, and I did enjoy it.

Briefly, Raine is our h and Nyx ends up being the H. Delilah is Raine’s bestie, and Aiden was Raine’s fated mate who rejected her. Based on lies told to him that he believed… by Raine’s Alpha who hated her. I have to say that the logic or lack thereof was pretty iffy on that. I’m not sure anyone would have done what he did but whatever.

Three stars because this was slightly better than average but not special enough in my humble opinion. I can still recommend it because it was a decent read.

Rejected Mate 4

Raine meets her fated mate at a ball, the new Northern Alpha King, Aiden. She soon finds she's pregnant but her pack Alpha lies to Aiden and he breaks the bond. Her cruel alpha sells her to the King of the Southern pack, Nyx, who is known for his cruelty. Nyx is everything kind. When Aiden finds he was lied to he tries to rebound with Raine but he is too late, she is mated to Nyx. She is instrumental in a treaty and alliance between the two kings. Great story.

Good story but too wordy.

I loved the premise of this story and it made me feel so many things. The angst is what I look forward to in a book and will keep me reading. There was so much side description. It was just too long.. for example the word complicated was in the story 23 times. The alphas weren’t super super manly. There was no mind linking there was no taking their authority. Just not what I’m used to in a shift of romance. I will continue to read the series.

Loved Nyx and Raine. Didn't really like Aiden; he was a hussy with the "h" replaced with a "p." Delilah getting pregnant by the same guy who impregnated Raine, her best friend, and then had to be forced to essentially care about her and his child, is just gross. Aiden and Delilah made the book off-putting when it was otherwise decent. Also, points to Raine for reacting like a normal person when being taken by people she doesn't know. You know, with fear and uncertainty. *cough ACOTAR cough*

The writing was good and it was a nice build up.

But what the heck. Aiden and Delilah was so unexpected, like I get Raine appreciating Nyx helping her but she fell for him way too quickly. She was supposed to have loved Aiden and been sending him letters, not to mention having his baby. It’s just totally bizarre.
They were fated mates and they didn’t even have a chance to be together. Raine a fool bc I would’ve been jumping Aiden AND Nyx’s bones.

Hooked but disappointed

The book was a slow burn with emphasis on SLOW. Hated the ending. Raine goes through so much because of her mate. He wants her but can’t claim her because he’s afraid of the elders and wants to do it his way. Then believes her horrible Alpha instead of trusting their mate bond that he always put in second as his first priority was becoming king. So instead of him getting his comeuppance he gets a happy ending WITH her best friends. It was like what!?!

I very much enjoyed this book. I’ve been looking for a good book that involves a good story.

I left so bad for Raine, everything her pack put her through was crazy and I was so happy to know that her best friend was there for her.

Aiden pissed me off, from the moment she found him in the room. Everything about him seemed off, and when Raine needed him he tossed her like trash.

I was very surprised by Nyx definitely not what I expected.

Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it either. I will say, our heroine, while living a pretty miserable existence in her pack, ended up bedding not 1 but 2 pretty hot alphas. Although the one she ended up with was definitely the hotter of the two.

Not much else to add here. So far the books I’ve read in this series are repetitive, slow paced, and communication skills that are so lacking it’s hard to comprehend how these alpha males can run a pack.

Excellent read.

This book had it all and kept me on the edge of my seat until the end. There was a good storyline. Strong characters. Steam. Angst. And I didn’t know what was going to happen until the very end. It has a good ending, but I still feel a little heartbroken. Highly recommended 🔥🔥🔥🔥.5/5
