Juan José Saer was an Argentine writer, considered one of the most important in Latin American literature and in Spanish-language literature of the 20th century. He is considered the most important writer of Argentina after Jorge Luis Borges and the best Argentine writer of the second half of the 20th century.

Très perturbant pastiche de roman noir, où la violence des faits est narrée avec une structure étonnante, de par ces contrepoints sur un déjeuner entre amis en Amérique du Sud, aucunement délimités dans le texte avec l'enquête.
La fin, double rebondissement même si le deuxième était attendu, laisse entrevoir une connexion entre ces deux histoires sans toutefois clarifier à outrance.
