OUR STORY
A beat-up old car, a few dollars in the pocket and a sense of adventure. In 1972 that’s all Tony and Maureen Wheeler needed for the trip of a lifetime – across Europe and Asia overland to Australia. It took several months, and at the end – broke but inspired – they sat at their kitchen table writing and stapling together their first travel guide, Across Asia on the Cheap. Within a week they’d sold 1500 copies and Lonely Planet was born. One hundred million guidebooks later, Lonely Planet is the world’s leading travel guide publisher with content to almost every destination on the planet.

At 128 pages filled with quirky treats and lip-smacking delights from around the world, this book was easily consumable for both kids and grown-ups alike. Was it unconventional, maybe. Entertaining? Absolutely! Did I undertake the daring pairings and adventurous eats? You bet.

It featured over 200 popular and unique snacks perfect for curious minds and foodies like myself. The illustrations were lively and highly amusing. The descriptions of each snacks were concise, easy to understand, and were categorized according to taste, texture, and type. This was a Ripley’s Eat It or Not type of experience for the family and we had a field day with it. We are still on a quest to discover many more peculiar eats from inside this book. But I must say, it is an overwhelming 5 out of 5 and comes highly recommended for the culinary voyagers and curious of heart!

Thank you Lonely Planet and Sabrina for my gifted copy.
