A Wrecked Earth short story set in the year 2029, four years before the events of “CLUTCH” and three years after the events of “Caught Out.” Clutch and Jorge pay a visit to a kindly old couple on a lonely farm, hoping to find a useful trade. When they sit down for a meal they wind up with more than they bargained for. Clutch and Jorge must deal with dangers to their safety and their morality before the day is done.
About The Wrecked Earth Ambush Supper is set in The Wrecked Earth, the post-apocalyptic setting featured in “ Book One of The Wrecked Earth” and other short stories. In the closing days of 2012 Earth mysteriously intersected with an asteroid belt that appeared out of nowhere, resulting in a devastating series of celestial collisions. For thirty days meteorites rained down on the planet, causing death and destruction on an unimaginable scale; this period of time became known as Rockfall. The years following were called the Wrecking, and were filled with misery as survivors fell prey to earthquakes, floods, fallout, starvation and disease in the aftermath of Rockfall. The meteors continue to fall, and strange radiation has caused rapid changes in the animal population, resulting in mutants and animal herds of mythic proportions.
About Clutch and Jorge Clutch had an unusual childhood, born into a Motorcycle Club known as the Tribe. When Clutch was eight years old, the MC leader predicted the end of the world days before it happened, and the Tribe’s focus changed from the freedom of the open road to helping people survive Rockfall and the Wrecking. When Clutch was twelve the Tribe was massacred by a cultish group of raiders, led by a tall, gaunt man with heterochromatic eyes who branded the dead with a strange symbol; four disks in two rows of two. Now fully grown into his incredible size and strength, Clutch is always on the hunt for any news of this cult and its leader, seeking vengeance.
He encountered Jorge when the boy was nine years old, and something about the spunky kid stirred Clutch’s familial nature. He effectively adopted him as a younger brother, and the two travel together, hunting, searching, and ultimately surviving the treacherous landscape of The Wrecked Earth.
