I was a little disappointed in this book. I'm a very experienced crocheter, and I once dabbled in quilting, so when I saw this book, I was fascinated by the concept of creating quilt-looking crochet projects. The photos and finished projects are absolutely gorgeous! However, I couldn't wrap my brain around the instructions. I found the patterns very confusing, and that is not typical for me. I wish there were more charts and clearer descriptions on how to change yarns when making some of the different types of squares, such as the half-square triangle. I found myself doing separate research on how to construct individual blocks. I think if the directions were clearer I would be more inclined to try some of the projects. This one is going back to the library after only a few days.

If you love granny squares and blankets you will love this book!
Highly recommend, very helpful with a lot of color photos! Excellent instructions, tons of ideas and color combo suggestions. Im so glad I purchased this book and can't recommend it enough. I've been crocheting for over 20 years and this is on my top 5 list of books must have as a crocheter. You can't go wrong, so many options, then add your own creativity on top of that, the number of crochet projects you can make are endless! You can go with how she has them or add your ideas expanding on hers, you'll never get bored.

This is a great book to combine traditional quilt making with crochet. Gibney includes different granny square options and several patterns of blankets and pillows using those granny squares. I especially appreciated the section on 3 different ways to to join squares in crochet and the section that discusses how quilts set up their block designs and how to replicate them in a crochet blanket. There were some beautiful patterns and blocks, and I am looking forward to using them.
