The fluorescent lights were blinding as she slowly walked down the shiny tiled hallway. Her sneakers squeaked with each step, piercing the silence. Doors to her right and left housing people, strangers… others’ loved ones. These doors held back the stories of other humans, but the only door that mattered to her was the door in front of her. The door with a sign that spelled out her freedom and the start of her story.

Oh my heart… this book broke me. Saved by Hope is a memoir sharing Jenny Lowe’s story through infertility, cancer, treatment, and the longing for a baby to call her own. Told by Jenny in her own beautiful words, this book will bring tears to your eyes and give you a sense of true hope even in the darkest moments life can throw at you.

I love reading people’s stories and Jenny’s story really touched my heart in a way I wasn’t expecting. Having people very close to me going through infertility and cancer journeys just made Jenny’s story hit me hard, as I feel I’m walking a similar path with some dear loved ones in my life.
Jenny’s story is heartbreaking yet beautiful and an absolute must read if you enjoy reading memoirs.

The QR codes at the end of the chapters led the reader to a website to see pictures and videos of Jenny’s journey and I absolutely loved this. It felt as if I got to know Jenny on an even deeper more personable level.

Highly recommend reading Jenny’s story.

Where to begin, this book had me tearing up at least three times before page 60. This one is a super emotional story about one couples struggle with having a child. I learned a lot as I read their journey through heartbreak, cancer, and infertility. The writing was great, raw, and true. I definitely recommend this book but read something light and heart warming afterwards, you're going to need it.

A book about the journey of a person, a woman, and a mother.
— — —
This memoir was so raw, honest, and powerful. I felt the emotions that the author was hoping to portray with her vulnerability. It’s relatable and emotionally magnetic—i’m so happy i went in blind with this one, though i doubt it would feel less emotional even if I read the blurb. There was so much love and hope in this book and believe me when I say that it will reflect onto you. Trust me, you’re going to want to read this book.

I loved everything about this book- the story, the honesty, the love, and the demonstration of the power in all of us to be more than we think we can be even in the hardest of circumstances. This books opens up a personal experience and makes it relatable and shows the connections we all have to survive hard things.

What an incredible journey! So real and raw. While every woman has their own story and journey to motherhood, I feel particularly empathetic to Jenny’s story. I read the majority of the book while on an airplane, I’m sure the people around me wondered if I was ok from crying so much! May Hope continue to shine within the Lowe family and also help support and inspire all who read this book!

BEAUTIFUL. raw emotions and vulnerability make this book so magical for anyone who has recognized the grief in the infertility journey. Jenny's journey to motherhood is profound, painful, unexpected, and relatable (as a fellow infertility warrior myself). It's a quick read that will leave you laughing, crying, and celebrating all the smallest details of life.

I’m an avid reader. But I had to break my personal rule about not reading books about cancer to read this book. I’ve heard bits and pieces of Jenny’s story from my niece who is a friend of Jenny’s, so I jumped at the chance to read her book, despite my personal reasons for not reading books about cancer.

I was very impressed by Jenny’s writing! And of course even more impressed by her warrior-like fight to get through her devastating trials only to actually write and publish a book about it, all within a relatively short time. What a warrior!

Her openness and raw expression of emotion were very heartfelt and she has a way of engaging her reader to let us feel on a small level what she has been through. At times I could not put it down. I often read during a night of insomnia. In fact I finished at 4.30 am this morning.

There were many aspects I could relate to in my own life, ie., fertility, AIU, devastating genetic diagnoses, Cancer, chemo, even the worry of binding with non biological babies through adoption. (By the way, there’s absolutely no difference, within seconds you fall in love and forget all about DNA). I’ve even had experience with egg donation through my daughter choosing to donate her eggs. So I felt such a strong connection to Jenny and I need to meet her in person and give her a big hug.

Thank you Jenny for sharing your journey with us and I wish you all the best with sweet Hope in your life

A Powerful Memoir of Strength & Transformation

I absolutely loved "Saved By Hope" by Jenny Lowe. This profoundly touching memoir resonated deeply with me, and I was in awe of Jenny's courage in sharing her story. Her raw honesty and vulnerability create a powerful narrative as she seeks help from fertility specialists at the age of 34 and navigates the challenges of infertility and the arduous path to motherhood. As a reader, I felt the weight of her struggles and the unwavering hope that sustained her. This inspiring story is not just about motherhood, but also a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the transformative power of hope.

The unique thing about Jenny's story is how many twists and turns there are throughout the path to motherhood. Even when things seem bleak, Jenny finds gifts and options to see things differently. Her story reminded me of the enduring strength that we all have within us.

I highly recommend this book to those who are fans of inspiring memoirs.

If there were more stars, I would have rated it more than a 5. By far the best book, and I am not even done. I found this to be a great book. This is the story of Jenny, who at the age of 34, is crushed by an unsuccessful IVF attempt to conceive her first child. The unanswerable whys and what-ifs enveloped her in grief as she struggled through. The story is heart-wrenching, healing, and uplifting.

The only message I would add to the very accurate and eloquently written review above would be that this book should also be read by anyone who knows a family dealing with such an unimaginable loss. You will better understand how to help a family who needs you, your love, and your support.

This book is about the author’s journey of her regular fertility treatments, failing to conceive a child in IVF, and mustering the courage to look forward in life with hope. Jenny wrote this book with honesty. I appreciate her efforts to write down this book. It must haven’t been easy to pen her grief but it was necessary. This book will give hope to many mothers who couldn't become mothers. Anyone who has lost a child in the labor room or due to an unsuccessful IVF attempt should read this book; no matter how you are grieving, you’ll find a ray of hope at the end of the tunnel.

This book had me feeling all the feels! The way that Jenny wrote about her experience made me feel like I was right there with her. I loved her honesty and her willingness to share the most intimate, personal, raw, & vulnerable moments of her journey. I have known Jenny from the day she was born so I knew how the book would end but that didn't stop me from having to read or listen to the book every spare second that I could! I especially loved the QR codes at the end of each chapter. It made the story even more personal and real. I highly recommend this book! Thank you Jenny for sharing your journey with all of us! You truly are a Survivor!

I read this book during the end of my pregnancy and the beginning of my son’s life. Maybe it’s the hormones but I really don’t think so. This book made me so emotional. Jenny’s story of perseverance through cancer, IVF and her journey to becoming a mom was so powerful. Told from her point of view, Jenny is raw and brutally honest as she navigates through so many setbacks all along the way of becoming a mom. Her story also shows the importance of having a great support system and people in your corner no matter what life throws at you. I recommend this book whole heartedly, but be ready with some tissues. I definitely needed them.

The book is very well written and I found it very very helpful with other parents contributing their feeling after the loss of their child. I felt understood! In the everyday world, people do not know what to say or they may innocently say the wrong things and in a time of loss, a Mother is very sensitive to things like this. Losing a child is like nothing else you'll ever experience, so to hear the story of how Jenny coped is emotionally a good thing.

This memoir is a beautiful read about the struggles of infertility and going through a cancer diagnosis and treatments. Truly a book to read from anyone looking to understand two devastating diagnoses that some people go through. Just a glimpse of how strong a person has to be to get through them both.

Highly recommend.

The grief of IVF

So many stories about IVF talk about the joys and the successes, but few open up to talk about the struggle and the grief of those rainbow babies. The author of this book does just that. She recounts her IVF journey, the hopes, the struggles, the tears and heartaches and the little joys. This book is very emotional, but it is extremely powerful in its message that we should never give up our hope. I cried and grieved with the author through her journey and it was a very personal accounting that truly touched me.

The stories around IVF talk about the joys and the successes, but few open up to talk about the struggle and the grief of those rainbow babies. I definitely could relate to this story as after many attempts I was not blessed with a child and my husband wanted to try other options at the time, but I was not prepared and the pain was so raw. As time passes there are regrets but blessings in other ways and I think people should also understand stories of different ways that people embrace the love of a child through others blessings, close friends, family and the joy in watching them grow. Not all stories have happy endings.

This book brought me to tears several times, on so many levels. I was able to relate to Jenny's situation on so many levels also, having gone through some of the same things she did. She brought raw emotion to her story and didn't gloss over anything. Her story is riveting. I couldn’t put it down and read it in one sitting! She describes her family and friends so well that you feel like you know them. Heartbreaking and uplifting at the same time. A wonderful book to read. #GoodreadsGiveaway

“Saved by Hope” is a brilliant genre-refuting book that chronicles the life of Jenny Lowe as she gives an account of her journey and that of her husband, James, with infertility problems. Almost all women dream of having a child of their own one day. However, realizing this dream is difficult for some women. Lowe’s heartfelt account details the couple’s experiences with this insidious struggle, fertility treatments, cancer, surgeries, and surrogacy. The book beautifully describes her courageous journey through pain, grief, joy, and hope as she experiences situations that change her mindset forever.

Written in the first-person narrative, the book shines with palpable vulnerability and unflinching honesty. Her voice takes readers through emotional turbulence as they try to manage and walk through a maze of bad news and carry on with life despite the constant brokenness the situation brought from time to time. Lowe’s evocative ability with language provides a panorama of her life, providing readers with further empathy and insight into what many women in her situation go through. Her honesty, truth and courage shed light on a complex topic that is rarely spoken about. The result is a compelling, affecting, and deeply thought-provoking book.

“Saved by Hope” is undeniably a story of hope, grace, and empowerment as it illuminates the hidden struggles, emotions, loneliness, and trials of infertility diagnosis and the search for treatment or any available solution. Jenny’s story is one of resilience. She serves as a reminder that we are all stronger than we imagine ourselves and that life is a constant push to the finishing line without giving up. That the book provides scientific and educative information on the topic is a win-win in itself.

The author’s clarity in writing this memoir is so fresh and impressive, with an exemplary and vibrant voice. The warmth and tenderness of her story feel like a revitalizing embrace, especially to those who have passed through a similar story. By turns, a teacher, a companion, and a heartfelt inspiration, Jenny Lowes’ five-star work smacks of true endurance and fortitude wrapping up into a robust gem. It is a much-needed tool to help demystify infertility and offer families a source of hope to carry on.

A remarkable, moving, vulnerable, powerful, courageous, compassionate, heartfelt, and informative look at a journey towards motherhood. It's hard to find the words to convey the power in this book and the good that I think can come from reading it. I can be a private person and I'm not comfortable expanding on the ways I related to this book and how it helped me personally. But I think this is a must-read for anyone who has dealt with fertility issues, who is concerned about the possible journey ahead of them, or who has someone in their life struggling to conceive and/or struggling with the hard truth they may never be a parent.
The depictions of various medical procedures and the anxiety and pain that accompanies them was anxiety inducing to read. I learned a lot of new things, as well as realized I wasn't alone in my feelings about others.

A very powerful and emotional book. It follows Jen and her unbreakable resolve to have a child of her own. It is based on a true story and reveals the ups and downs of IVF, cancer, and many other obstacles along the way as her and her husband follow a selected path to become a family of three. The learning of new methods and terminology were interesting for me, but the raw emotions were almost overwhelming. It almost brought times of teary breakdown. I highly recmmend this book for anyone wanting an inside look of experiencing raw emotions over choices..

While I agree with the author's premise that it's important to share stories like this to allow people going through similar things to feel less alone, this particular book falls flat. What is no doubt a very personal, very traumatic tale is told with no little emotion it just feels hollow, and it was hard to care. I found myself rooting for this woman to get her baby not because I felt anything for her but because I wanted the book to be over.
